I just love this! Think of warm lemon cupcakes freshly baked and just coming out of the oven–then dunked into a creamy mug of warm milk. Drizzle with bergamot icing (bergamot smells like Earl Grey tea). However, this does not have the smokiness of Earl Grey tea.
This fragrance is all lemon/bergamot cake with a drizzle of icing and whole milk to give it the creaminess. Someone said this smells like waffle cone. I agree with that too–a fresh baked light lemon waffle cone. Wonderful and long lasting!! I will always have a bottle of this in my collection!!

I was so excited to finally get to test this, and then was surprised to find that it smelled so familiar! It’s definitely reminiscent of Laurence Dumont’s Tendre Madeleine, but with more citrus in the top, or even the discontinued L de Lolita from Lolita Lempicka, with lemon instead of orange. It’s delicious and comforting, but if you already own these other scents, you may not need to add this one to you collection – or maybe you do!

Unknown Pleasures is a nuclear strength gourmand. It mostly smells like lemon curd, tangy yet creamy and super sweet. It also reminds me of Starbucks lemon pound cake, which has a tart and sugary icing. Unknown Pleasures has a slight aspect that smells like earl grey tea, and an aspect that reminds me of a vanillin flavored waffle cone. And I’m surprised to see that there’s no coconut – on me there’s a pronounced toasted coconut note. As it progresses, I get more caramel. I love earl grey tea, and am forever searching for the perfect earl grey / london fog scent, which is why I sampled this. It’s not my holy grail earl grey tea scent, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless. This scent is ridiculously sweet – just completely sugar saturated. But the bright lemon scent, earl grey and waffle cone keep the sugar from being too annoying. But I still spray lightly – the sillage and longevity are so good that an over spray would definitely be cloying. A very cheerful gourmand, great for summer!
    Love.

Simultaneously the moodiest yet most comforting gourmand I’ve ever encountered. Wearing this is like the understated joy of dunking a lemon sugar cookie into a milky cup of tea on a dreary afternoon.
I blind bought this based on my love for both Joy Division and gourmands; not a cheap gamble to take, but it paid off in spades. The pleasures that this gorgeous bottle bring are readily apparent.
It’s not many a perfumer who can successfully create a fragrance where each individual note mentioned is perceptible (both in the bottle and on the skin), but John seems to effortlessly nail it every single time.

Yummmmmmmm! Vanilla-caramel-tonka booze, balmy, resinous, rich, complex, ever-changing. Absolutely love it!! Full bottle+2 back ups worthy! The citrus is barely noticeable on me, which is neither good nor bad. The composition is to fie for.

Lemon cake dusted with powdered sugar and a drizzle of caramel….with a side of sweetened Earl Grey tea to wash it down. This is a lovely gourmand, beautiful and simple and delightfully sweet without being cloying or overbearing. I can see this being all ages and fully unisex as it’s so delightful. It sits close to the skin but does last several hours. A very edible fragrance, with a gorgeous bottle—think tea cakes and proper manners all the way.

This scent literally made me say damnnnnnn!! Its unique in the most wonderful way. One of the reviews says this smells like lemon cake and it does. But just saying lemon cake doesn’t do this beauty justice. I just wanna burrow my face in my shirt until the scent is gone. Because of the citrus being prevalent, I think this can be worn in nearly any climate. It’s very versatile. The lemon makes this a great choice in warm weather and I can also see this as being quite cozy in cooler weather due to the gourmand lemon cake smell to it. I haven’t had my ‘damn-o’meter’ go off in a while from a fragrance. Lol. If you like lemon as a note and are a gourmand lover, this is a must have!

WOW! I normally don’t like many citrus scents, but this is different, it’s a citrus gourmand, and what a beautiful scent it is. I’m now fighting with myself about buying a full bottle!
*edit* i lost the fight and ordered a full bottle!

I friggin love this fragrance by Kerosene. First off this fragrance smells like a London fog with a lemon cake right beside it. To me the lemon and bergamot allows this fragrance to be worn year round. Making this signature scent worthy. This is a very wearable gourmand. The sweetness in the dry down is not overpowering and is not sickening. Projection and longevity are above average. The only negative thing about this fragrance is the bottle. Mine was leaking when it arrived and continues to leak. So if you’re reading this, John. Please fix this. Overall I give Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene a 9.5/10

Yummy goodness in a bottle I love this perfume! It has a cozy sweet opening that is citrus mixed with caramel on my skin. Scent lasts on skin but fades quickly so only I smell it for hours. I enjoy wearing this scent to bed because it is comforting and lasts on my nightie all night. (Strange but true!) I have many perfumes but right now this is a favorite. I recently bought Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau that reminds me of this perfume a lot but doesn’t last long on my skin. I highly recommend this perfume but test it on your skin before buying.

A beautiful gourmand with attitude. The citrus keeps it from getting unwearable. Its perfectly blended in (and I don’t even like citrus in most compositions). Bergamot is quite strong here, as well as the waffle part. There is no butter note mentioned but it really seems to stand out during the drydown (part of the waffle combo maybe), it’s almost uncomfortably loud. The longevity is medium, expect about 4-6 hours, but it did rub on my coat and stayed there for a few days – clothes will keep it going for much longer.

Inadvertently tested out Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene today. I was at the perfumery with a new friend, and it was cold and gray out – the perfect time to smell like “a cup of Earl Gray Tea with a squeeze of lemon, walking through the fog, listening to Joy Division, with the smell of waffle cones in the air” – I couldn’t resist.
It’s got good longevity – 6 hours and still going. I wouldn’t say that it has tons of projection (also didn’t spray much), but it’s definitely there.
My skin really amped the bergamot, it was more present than in vintage Shalimar, and then it was this very huffable, yummy “what is that gorgeous smell?!” smell, and now we’ve got a warm, edible foody sweetness going on. I know that technically it’s the “vanilla waffle cone accord” but it’s even warmer, denser, and richer than that.
I don’t think I need a full bottle, but it’s like a cool, modern update on Shalimar that I could see people falling in love with. I would be happy with a 10ml or 20 ml decant.
It is a cool perfume in that it has distinct stages, a very obvious top, middle, and bottom pyramid progression. It’s actually like smelling a different perfume every few hours, which is kind of fun for me. A few times I forgot what I was wearing, because the heart and base notes were so different from the top.

Lemon, tea, burnt sugar opening with maybe a touch of rum? fades into a vanilla cereal base very similar to Bois Farine’s or Lostmarch Lann-Ael. Like this but not sure if it feels like a $140 dollar bottle since the drydown seems a little flat on me
EDIT: Hot toddy + wheat and vanilla musk dry down. Rough not smooth.

  14. :

I can’t wear this. It has a very interesting opening but its just cloying and nauseating after a while.

  15. :

    4 out of 5

Not a fan of this one, and I know I’m odd-man-out, but it’s either a note or the base of this that doesn’t smell good on me. Dusty and oily at the same time.

  16. :

    5 out of 5

I get citrus up front and center the first few minutes. Then melted caramel with a touch of vanilla starts to come in and the citrus fades to the background. Sweet, but not the usual caramel/vanilla candy kind of sweet.
Very nice, different, and not quite as strange as some of his other creations.
I like it, but dont see myself spending $140 for a bottle.
A perfume has to blow me away from start to finish before I will spend that much.
NOTE: wore this to work today, it’s maiden public warring, this is maybe a bit to gourmond for me.. the drydown of ‘vanilla/caramel/waffle cone vibe stays very strong and becomes annoying after several hours.. this is one perfume I can smell on myself all day and into the night..
Strike this off my list of ‘bottle worthy’.. Fields of Rubus seems to be the only one from Kerosene I am jazzed enough to fork over the $140.

Whoa, Unknown Pleasures must be the most realistic lemon cake scent there ever was! It’s not only lemony and sweet, it really smells like it comes fresh out the oven, even with those caramelized, almost burnt bits of cake crust from the pan. Vanilla and caramel and freshly squeezed lemon with its peel. I also get the earl grey note, the bergamot in it deepens the fresh citrus aspect of the fragrance.
When it dries down, it becomes sweeter and the lemons calm down a bit, like expected. In this phase I also smell some coconut.
I’m usually more into gourmands that don’t smell exactly like food, but Unknown Pleasures is marvelous. It’s just so well-made and not boring at all due to the cake/caramel/tea/citrus blend. Such a delicious feel-good fragrance.
It’s unfortunate Kerosene fragrances only come in 100 ml. I know, some people prefer those, but especially with such an intense and specific fragrance a smaller size makes more sense to me. I would love to have this, but I doubt it will be mine anytime soon.

This is like a lemon toffee. At first it doesn’t seem like a good idea, but than it grows on you and you end up obsessing about it.
I tested this a few times. First time I was surprised, but enjoyed it. Second time I was able to detect more notes, surprised again. Third time I used this was after several weeks and I realized I loved this. It’s definitely different, but pleasing.
The name is just right. Unknown Pleasures! Yes, indeed.
Creamy vanilla caramel chips lemon gelato!. A luscious dessert. Architectural & extra sensory. Something odd and familiar at once. It’s like meeting that special person. A stranger, yet you are pervaded by the feeling you have known him forever. Soothing & disturbing at the same time.
Lots of sweetness & lots of smokiness.
This can be worn all year around. Unisex. Would make me go crazy to smell this on a man.

And the gods came together to create Unknown Pleasures…
I may not always smell like creamy lemons, but when I do, I will spray Unknown Pleasures.
It’s that good! I love gourmands, and this one creates an aura that brings me to a place of comfort. It starts with lemon goodness that just gets creamier and fuller as the day progresses. I get 6-8 hours longevity. I bought a sample from Perfumed Court and within a few hours, I was purchasing a full bottle from The House of Kerosene. I suggest you do the same.

Gourmand heaven! Lemon gumdrop caramel popcorn. The citrus note is amazing! It opens with a burst of lemon mist that is one of the best citrus notes I’ve ever smelled. This ebbs into a caramel drizzled, almost edible, aroma that makes your mouth water. In combination with the vanilla, tonka bean and tea, it reminds me of gourmet movie theater popcorn dripping with caramel topping. Do not wear when hungry! This is a diet buster!

When I sprayed this on paper, it smelled like over-brewed tea and caramel. On my skin, it smells more of lemon and gingerbread with a hint of over-brewed tea. It’s very pleasant and I would like if my house smelled like this, but it’s not something that I want to smell like, myself.

  22. :

This was an interesting one for sure. Upon first spray, I got so many notes and scents and ups and downs and I didn’t know which way this fragrance was going. After about thirty seconds, it started to settle into a really interesting gourmand. It was sweet and lemony, of course, but it was also herbal from the tea. The addition of honey made this smell like…well, like honeyed lemon tea. That’s probably awesome for a lot of people. I’m sure it’s very comforting. But for me, it smelled like the sort of comfort you get when you have a cold. Throat lozenges, warm tea, all that jazz. So yes, this scent is very unique, well-blended and lovely. But it’s not for me.

I purchased a bottle after wearing it for 15 mins. The lemon for me was very fleeting which I didnt mind so much. This is definitely gourmand madness dont get me wrong but wearing it doesnt seem foody to me if that makes any sense! quality! its a bit on the soft side, but seems to have decent longevity

A well blended gourmand. The tea and lemon with a touch of caramel comes to the forefront. Tonka stirs in the base. Very pleasant.

Delicious!…smells like lemon honey with a touch of tea and caramel…great pick me up for those cold, rainy days…I’m not a typically gourmand fragrance lover but I love this…

This is my by far my favorite gourmand! It’s absolutely delicious, first I get a lot of lemon which quickly mellows down to a creamy caramel still with a hint of lemon and a cookie note. It’s sweet but the lemon balances it off the whole time. I get so many compliments when I’m wearing this.
If you love gourmands this is a must try!

I want a sample of this because from the notes and reviews it seems like the most extremely mismatched name/fragrance combination ever….

  28. :

I get the citrus top but nothing under it is anything I would consider sweet or edible. Greatly disappointed, given the previous reviews.

  29. :

My gosh this is amazing! Tried my sample today. Its the first lemon fragrance that doesn’t remind me of Pledge (and I have tried many lemon based fragrances)! Strangely I do get some cedar even though it’s not listed in the notes – perhaps it’s the tea. I also get a very light hint of coconut, like coconut milk – again, not listed in the notes.
Sweet but not cloying. The waffle cone is soooo gooood! I get far more waffle cone than tonka or vanilla. This is a good thing because I have many vanilla scents and I really didn’t want another perfume that dried down to vanilla. This doesn’t. This is far more interesting.
I’ll be sleeping with this on tonight! Mmmmmmm!

    F*ck me!
Crispy, buttery, caramel waffles covered in light, fluffy cream with earl grey syrup, a splash of coconut milk, lemon rind and brown sugar over top. All served on a cedar table with a vanilla candle burning and the sounds of “she’s lost control” playing in the background. THIS is what I’d want to be eating, smelling and experiencing on a cold, rainy day, preferably in London. Josh nailed it.

A perfume of pure happiness. It reminds me of the Dutch baby pancakes my mom used to make on snowy mornings. She served them with lemon juice and powdered sugar and that’s what this smells like. Perfect balance of sweet and tart, with the vanilla adding a soft creamy quality. It’s heavenly.

First of all, this is a love for me.
The lemon is very realistic from first spray, complete with the grated peel you usually use when baking. This lemon is not candied, but fresh, zesty and watery. It reminds me slightly of the opening of Creed Island Water. Don’t be afraid though, there is nothing cologne-like about this gourmand.
Soon it starts to dry down to reveal the sweet, warm cake accord. I don’t know if I’m alone in perceiving this quite Christmas like, I swear I can sense a cinnamon note here. The lemon steadily mellows down until the final drydown which is very edible, sweet and warm. Don’t hate me for saying this, but I can’t shake off that this scent is quite like Gourmand Coquin without the lemon.
I haven’t smelled anything worthy of being called a dupe of Unknown Pleasures, but it brings to mind another favourite of mine, namely Vani Choc by Hilde Soliani. That one is a candied lemon with a lovely vanilla drydown. If you want something similar for less money check out the perfume oil Froot Loops from Bath and Body Bakery on etsy.
TLDR; juicy, greasy sponge cake with lemon zest and a pinch of cinnamon. A must for gourmand lovers.

I absolutley love this – smells fantastic. I got a sample and used it right up and then bought a bottle. Agree with many of the other reviews here. Opens with lemon and sort of a powdery billowing feel. The lemon note is of the lemon meringue pie variety (makes me think of the canned kind of lemon pie filling) very sugary sweet. Becomes more vanillic as it wears down. I don’t smell caramel or wafflecone but it still smells great. Good longevity too at 6 to 8 hours. The sillage is a punch in the face – everyone around will be able to smell you. You will fill the elevator and you will leave a scent trail.

Ive gone through 2 samples of this and finally ordered a larger dacant because I love this sccent so much! (hoping for a large bottle for xmas) 🙂
For me, it starts out a lemon dream bars like grandma used to make, with tangy yet creamy notes of lemon, then softly transitions into a lemony earl grey for a while, and finally rests as a soft vanilla with traces of amber- very light and only noticable if Im smelling my skin directly.
Perfection for any gourmand lover, especially those that love citrus.

  37. :

This is one of those crack scents that turns you into a wrist-sniffing slave. First it is a strong sweet lemon pie with a thick graham cracker crust. Then it mellows out into a lemon cookie. It dries down gradually becoming more creamy and vanillic, resembling a lemon-vanilla ice cream on a cone. After the lemon is gone it smells just like L de Lolita Lempicka!
Unknown Pleasures really touches a place deep in my heart. It is truly a scent for pleasing one’s inner child. I almost started crying the first time I smelled it. It is that good–pure innocent joy in a bottle. Maybe I am biased though because I have always loved lemon flavored sweets. But I never would have thought I’d love a citrus-centric perfume so much. I wish I got more tea from this but regardless I will totally be buying this eventually. At $140 for 100ml it is way worth it for me. And that bottle is awesome. Love. Love. Love.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

Unknown Pleasures is uncanny, unlike any other citrus OR gourmand that I’ve smelled previously. It walks the line of a citrus bomb of lemon and bergamot as well as a sweet overload of waffle cone and a host of other gourmand notes.
Comparisons to lemon pie, a lemon icee, or any other sort of lemon dessert / confection are pretty fair. It actually reminds me of cotton candy to some extent, the citrus influence notwithstanding. I get a decent amount of the waffle cone aspect rather than vanilla or tonka, so it lands somewhere between lemon gelato and candy.
Performance is strong, not quite as strong as Copper Skies or Follow, but certainly worthwhile for a fragrance that I’d say you need to love in order to buy at $140 for 100ml.

I have recently picked up this fragrance. I really love the smell of lemon but most lemon-based fragrances start smelling like lemon-scented cleaner after a while. Not so with this one! I never get a lemon cleaner smell with this one. This fragrance is what I would classify as a gourmand. It reminds me of the lemon-poppyseed muffins I sometimes get at my local bakery….YUM! I also get a hint of caramel and vanilla. I would say longevity is pretty good (several hours), and I get decent projection.

My first experience with a perfume from this house. I must say, it smells of… kerosene! Who da thunk! And it ruined it for me. It just don’t think gasoline and sweet things work well together.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

Unknown Pleasures is a true gourmand, ie, actually smells like a lemon tart with vanilla whipped cream on top. Literally. Main Notes are sweet lemon, salty caramel and vanilla mainly and a sweet honeyed tea and Tonka underneath although these come into play only mildly. Longevity and projection are both good as well. Creative conceptualization here is brilliant. Whether it is wearable depends on how much you like sweet gourmands. For me personally, it’s a weekend fragrance. It’s the kind of playful fun fragrance I like wearing to Sunday brunch at the pub or on a long drive with friends. In short, it’s totally a mood fragrance for me and the mood is casual fun. Comments range from ” you smell yummy” to ” Did somebody go to the bakery, why do I smell lemon cake?” so make of that what you will. I personally enjoy this fragrance. 8/10

    Meh
Smells like a clumsy pastry chef who spilled a lot of Earl Grey on his apron and probably into the cake too.
A very (nauseatingly) heady, sweet lemon cake opening. The lemon reminding me of a dish-washing liquid. Lots of sweet n salty caramel. Something very thick and butter-like – almost smelling like cocoa butter. Truckloads of coconut. Very oily and very un-perfumelike. Lots of tea, somehow smelling decent amidst this seemingly chaotic brew.
In all honesty it smelled like I was working all day in the kitchen, baking some goodies with all those ingredients and then didn’t feel it was necessary to take a bath (or change my clothes) before landing up for tea. All those smells still linger on…in a totally annoying sort of way. All that’s left now is a very uninteresting and uncreative drydown of plain ol’ vanilla and powdery tonka.
I’m really new to this “niche” world. Tried a few so far and have liked most of them. They always smell good/pleasant. And more importantly I love gourmands, which is why this was the first one I tried from their discovery set of 12. And all I wanted to do was take a shower and wear something else. That’s really not a good feeling. Definitely meh, for me.
Anyways. This is new to me. Maybe this is creative and I can’t tell it yet. I’m going to try the other 11 from this set and figure how it goes.

A whiff of the nozzle of Unknown Pleasures had me hooked. Actually I thought it smelled like smooth, creamy, sandalwood. When I sprayed it on my skin, I don’t know about tea, caramel, and waffle cones–it was 100% pure lemon meringue pie. It is so realistically gourmand that I almost didn’t buy it. But the creamy sandalwood-like note did me in. I had been looking for a perfume to wear when I take my daughter on our weekly outing to the zoo, and this is definitely it! On top of smelling absolutely delectable, it does not cause me to have massive frontal headaches and does not get my asthma going, which is not the norm for perfumes anymore. So I’m not sure if they use a good amount of naturals in it, but I feel safe wearing it around my young child because of the lack of symptoms I associate with all the chemicals in perfumes, which is a huge bonus.

A french lemon caramel tart. Not the cloying tart, a cold edible lemon tart with sweet cheese! and powdery sugar on top on a crumble biscuit plate, delicious 🙂
I don’t want to smell like that but i want to eat that 😀

Unknown Pleasure smells like the most gourmand lemon tart. A blend of very, very sweet notes. This is pure pleasure for the nose. It just smells amazing. This scent is so sweet that I can only see a very young girl wearing it. Longevity for me is not that great but the solution is to apply generously. What else to say ? This is the most delightful smell I know after Ambre Narguile.

  46. :

The tea and lemon beginning stays just this side of Lemon Pledge. Then the caramel kicks in and it stays just this side of sickeningly sweet. It reminds me of drinking sugary lemonade on a hot, humid day. It’s a fine line this walks but it walks it well.
But wait for the waffle! It’s amazing how it can dry down to a scent so specific and yet not come off as indulgently literal. I get a perfectly crispy, freshly baked waffle cone from this. But I don’t think anyone smelling me would have any idea other than that I smell wonderful. The drydown is surprisingly light and would be safe to wear in summer, even in a humid climate. It’s not overbearingly sweet at all.
This projects moderately but consistently and lasts all day. I’m very impressed and I can see myself possibly snagging a bottle down the road.

So I just received a sample of this from Indie scents, and smelling on paper compared to on the skin is like WOW!!! It’s definitely sweet, but not a cheap smelling sweet. Lemon and Caramel. Gotta love it

I was so excited to try this after reading so many wonderful reviews but it just didn’t work out for me at all!!
Initial spray is a very bright and zesty lemon; a promising start! Unfortunately this leaves pretty much right away and is replaced by what I can only compare to one of those cheap lemon/vanilla tree things that you hang in cars.
After about 3 hours-ish it begins to get a more creamy-vanilla vibe (think ice cream, but softer.. like somebody took it out of the freezer and forgot about it); this stays for the next couple hours with a more caramelly flavour coming in as time goes on.
At 5~6ish hours I get some rendition of the waffle cone note, with that half-melted caramel ice cream from earlier slopped inside. Sounds yummy I guess, but to my nose smells entirely synthetic and more like a cheap room fragrance than anything else.
The waffle/caramel is where the scent ends for me and it slowly fades from this point for the final few hours, completely disappearing around hour no 9.
Overall, disappointing perfume that’d make a better candle IMO.
    Update 03/06/16:
I’ve been re-trying my sample of this every so often after reading the glowing reviews (and convincing myself I’ve got it wrong) – yesterday being my most recent attempt. Unfortunately every time I end up with the exact same cheapo candle scent that I cannot reconcile back to all of these raves at all. Ugh. 🙁

Love it. I picked this bottle up in the shop to sample it because it shares a name with one of my favourite albums. While the lemony smell of it doesn’t say “Manchester” or “Joy Divison” to me (they are both more suited to Kerosene’s Black Vines, which is pure motor oil cut with liquorice and juicy fruits), there is the tiniest dark, cold aspect to it, hidden behind the sweet lemon, that reminds me of the city’s industrial heritage and the band, so I think I get what the perfumer was aiming for here. This isn’t a bright Sicilian lemon or a powdery lemon – it’s more of a lemon custard ice cream eaten on an English seaside holiday, where the water is never warm enough to go for a swim. The spiciness (hint of ginger) is just delicious, very cozy – a two-up, two-down Manchester home when you try to keep the damp out as best as you can. It’s a hopeful scent, with a tiny bit of innocence lost. I wish I could eat what this smells like.

I acquired a bit of this from a split with a lovely fragrantican!!! OMG!! This the the citrus and gourmand of my DREAMS! I love lemon cake and lemon cookies and lemonade and fresh lemons with salt and . . . well you get it! At first spritz your mouth salivates from the lemon blast opening. Then in short order the vanilla, caramel and tonka sweeten it perfectly but allowing the lemon essence stay relevant. Soon I am enveloped in an experience akin to nibbling the perfect lemon cookie with the perfect cup of EG tea sweetened with a dollop of honey and squirt of lemon!!! Just wonderful and refreshing for cooler weather IMO. Aaahhh….I wished I’d jumped in the split earlier so I could have gotten a bigger cut. LOL But alas it will be on my wish list and I will probably take the financial plunge and go for it.

Decided to purchase this last week because I’ve read a few reviews on this fragrance, it’s pretty good it smells lemony at first but then it transitions into a creamy-like vanilla coconut lemon shake. Imagine blending a vanilla shake and adding a bit of lemon extract and coconut zest, as soon as you lift off the lid and you get that initial blast and aroma – that’s what this smells like. I like it. The downside is that to me, it doesn’t last that long (the fragrance in general) and I wish it projected a little more. It could be just nose fatigue. I’m happy I purchased this but I wish it was a bit more concentrated.

great fragrance. A citrus gourmand that is well done with amazing projection and longevity. I for one get a lemon cream coconut custard pie. No one else here seems to get coconut but me. But it wasn’t only me, I got comments from people saying wow what is the smell it smells amazing, and saying it smells like coconut.

Met a girl yesterday who was wearing this. She tried to choke me. I asked her what it was and I told her I was asking because I loved it. I lied. I love gourmands but I couldn’t decide if I liked this or hated because in that tiny elevator it was overwhelming. But then after we got out of that tiny space to our own destinations, I wanted to smell it again, I wanted to smell it so bad I dreamt about it. If that’s what this scent can do… well… Should I get it? Or will I not like it if I’m constantly with it? Aaaaaaaah!

dmckean44 nails it – Girl scout Lemon Pastry Creams.
Edit: Good news for cookie lovers – this lasts a long time – 16 hours + from a tiny dab on the wrist and has good sillage and consistency throughout.

absolutely intoxicating & beautifuly blended. I’ve always been a fan of sweet fragrances and this definitely makes the list. The opening I admit is more on the lemon side. Shortly though it calm down and develop it own character. I would say for a blind buy it’s safe, it’s none offensive, and project well on me. scale from 1 to 10 a solid 7 🙂

I’m perplexed. I like this, I really like this, but I’m not smelling what literally everyone else is smelling here. Everyone reports that this scent reminds them of waffle cones. What I am smelling does not remind me even remotely of waffle cones or anything gourmand.
Instead I’m reminded of old school perfumes featuring citrus such as Jean Nate and Shalimar (minus the vanillic drydown). You know what people mean when they say something smells like “perfume”? That’s what I’m getting here— a general perfumeness possibly attributable to citrus aldehydes and a few indistinct dark notes in the base.
Perhaps it is skin chemistry or perhaps my sample is off or tainted. I’m just not sure, but removed from all marketing and foreknowledge I would have guessed that this was an old school chypre with a prominent bergamot opening. My husband’s guess was that I was wearing something close to vintage Y by Yves Saint Laurent. I have no idea how it would smell on someone else.
Lovely but not gourmand on my skin. Sample, don’t blind buy.

I got a sample of this from a very sweet Fragrantican. Usually I don’t use samples I get, they go to work with me and get fought over, but this was different. I kept it to myself, hoarding it like a treasure. When others asked to try my sample since I usually shared, I snarled at them and said “mine”. They were not happy.
It was not a clear cut love for me from the start, we had a tough time. The opening citrus smelled like celery on my, as some citrus does, and I couldn’t figure out what people saw in it. Then all of a sudden something changed, there was orange, and vanilla tangling together, then caramel peeked its head in. Since I don’t like chocolate, caramel is my weakness, and this was great caramel.
This instantly went on my want list and I made myself delay the purchase as I finished my sample. It now resides in the front of my perfume cabinet for easy acce
