The main fruit notes are very strong in this, which is what makes it smell like the original, at first sniff.
However, whilst they have the basic scent down, this really lacks whatever makes the original so great. Maybe it’s that there’s no amber, oakmoss or sandalwood. It needs more deeper notes to balance it out.
This is too shampoo-ey, too nauseatingly sweet.
You’ll notice the difference if you smell them side by side. For the price they’re selling it at, they should’ve done a better job, in my opinion.
It’s great if you’re looking for a nostalgic moment, but if you’re looking for a replica, this isn’t worth it in my opinion.

Loved this scent back in high school… I couldnt truly remember what it smelled like, just that I definitely finished the bottle that I had. I recently ordered a DUPE of Tribe off Ebay, and wow… It smells spot-on to me! And some perfumes definitely seem characteristic in their era but this seems so so wearable for 2018!! 🙂 It reminds me a lot of Olympea Intense… not an exact replication, but Intense smells like grapes amd musk and honey to me, whereas Tribe smells like fruits and musk and honey… Plus I do smell the tiniest bit of green in Tribe. I do wish Coty would bring this back! I remember having this while my sister had Coty’s Exclamation perfume, and we would share scents if we wanted a change for the day… Both great fragrances, and Exclamation is still in production, so not sure why Tribe can”t be as well!!!

I bought a bottle of this the other day and I’m disappointed.
The original was bright and fizzy which is why I loved it. This new one has a bit of the Red Diesel about it. I don’t know what that note is called but I really don’t like it. Tom Ford Black Orchid has it as well. I can feel the bluntness at the back of my throat which is unpleasant and nauseating.
    Ultra sadness.

I’ve been waiting for what seems like forever for this perfume to come back into my life. And now it’s here. It brings back all the old memories although it doesn’t seem as heady or as long lasting as the original. Still, I get myself a couple of bottles and it’s my go to, quick spritz perfume. Happy it’s back.

I was curious about this one and didnt remember it, but seeing as though people had loved it that much it was brought back, I figured I should see what it was like. Honestly I haven’t smelled anything like it before. On me it’s a mixture of cucumbers, baby powder and some cotton candy scent. It also reminds me of water but I’m not sure why. I like the little bottle. I think this one is an acquired taste and you’ll either love it or hate it

I am one of those people who had never heard of Tribe or the hype around it since nowadays.
Browsing through Fragrantica as one does, I stumbled upon it and my interest was triggered. I was a teenager in the nineties, but Tribe was not available in Greece at the time, so my nose was a blank canvas for Tribe when I received it a few weeks ago.
And I have to say, what an amazing perfume! I have made my personal discovery with Tribe, and I will tell you why. I have been looking for years for MY personal beach scent, one that would take me back to carefree summers of my youth under the Mediterranean sun. I searched high and low, Bobbi Brown Beach, I hate perfume At the Beach 1966, Fire Island by Bond, Bronze Goddess, Vittoria Apuana, Coco Extreme, Elie Saab Resort, I had tried all the beachy perfumes I could get my hands on but none was IT. Until now. Tribe is the perfume of my summer beach, the exact scent of the sun lotion I was using mixed with sun kissed skin. The one I found when I was not looking for it. I cannot put into words how it smells, it’s just wonderful, clean musk and subtle fruits, summery, breezy, sunny, amazingly sexy, the way a young woman is sexy without trying too much. It is not your stereotypical beach perfume, but it is exactly how my Greek island summers smelled. I am not wearing Tribe too often, only because I want to cherish the mental association it brings with it, as if I don’t want to spoil the way it transports me to my happy place by creating new memories from it.
    Love.

Wow! This is amazing! As soon as I sprayed it, it smelled just like the Tribe from my school days. As I’ve only just sprayed it, I can’t comment on the sillage and longevity of it, but as I write this review, I can smell the fragrance wafting up from my wrist. I remember being disappointed with the sillage and longevity of the original Tribe but I think this new one is going to be much better. So glad I got it. I will update later. By the way, I got mine from allbeauty dot co dot UK

I posted the web address here a few days ago only to have it removed for doing so – so I’ll spell it so you can see, purchase and enjoy this memory stirrer yet again.
    Type it as it reads…
“double-you double-you double-you” dot “tribeperfume” dot “co” dot “uk”
I’m just a messenger of the info and am in no way affiliated with the website or the company… just sharing the news.

Can anyone tell me if the very original “Tribe” came out in the late 80’s first?
I know when “Coty” took over, it was released in 1991 but what year was the very original released? There’s a lot of people saying they remember wearing it in the 80’s!

How on Earth did I miss this relaunch?? I have spent YEARS looking for Tribe somewhere, everywhere, anywhere. Forget eBay for the original …those go for over $200.00. I haven’t checked eBay for this new version yet, but I’d love to know where you all bought yours,, if you don’t mind telling. I’d love to try this…i have to try this!!

It’s here!!! And I’m oh so happy!
I bleedin’ ripped the box in my eagerness to spray it! grrr.
Anyway, I think if anyone here is going to try Tribe for the first time, my biggest tip is really let this one settle. The dry down I think is the best part and it takes a while to get there. It’s worth the wait though as this is where the magic is.
There’s a whirl of flowers mixed in with the fruitiness and that tone that Tribe possesses which I just cannot describe. It has a smooth undertone that I love. Close up on skin? Is not what this is about, it’s about the way it wafts.
I can really notice a very strong fuzzy peach note in this when it’s wet, kinda like those scented wooden fruit things you used to be able to buy for your drawers? As well as a juicy pear note too.
It’s a lot peachier than I remember, but it changes a LOT from wet to dry.
The dry down is when you get to the soft, youthful creamy..gorgeousness that is Tribe, and it becomes more unique. The entire tone changes into something more comforting, almost like a fruity, creamy, laundry detergent. (Gah..so hard to pinpoint). The vanilla musk combo makes is smoother and much more harmonius. It’s clean and very soft but not soapy clean..comforting clean.
Try and smell it on someone else if you can and let it waft past you. That’s when you will smell the REAL Tribe. I LOVE the way it develops…give it a chance. So glad it’s back in my collection. I already want to stock up in case it goes again!

Just checked out the company’s website – you can order it there. It’s about $50 just for the shipping to Canada for me, but I must admit to being sorely tempted.
