Description

Along with make-up collection and perfumed body care products, Tory Burch is launching her first perfume, which arrives on the market on September 26th 2013 (in presales from September 6th 2013). Tory Burch collaborated with Karyn Khoury from Estee Lauder Cosmetics and IFF on creating her first fragrance and she worked on product design, selection of notes and the whole look of the line.

Tory Burch opens with notes of grapefruit, pink pepper, currant buds and leaves, mandarin and neroli. The heart blooms with peony, tuberose, mimosa, jasmine, carrot seed and sweet alyssum, on a base composed of vetiver, cedar, sandalwood and white musk.

The fragrance can be obtained as 50 and 100ml Eau de Parfum, as well as solid perfume in a pendant on the characteristic Burch chain. Among accompanying products, one can choose between body cream, body lotion, perfumed shower gel and perfumed candle. Make up collection encompasses lipstick, bronzer palette for face and face brush.

syrupy mandarin oranges, verging on expiration. mixed with a generic bouquet.

I received this as a gift and I really hate it. It’s extremely generic and harsh. Strong citrus and peony, mixed with industrial cleaner. It makes my throat hurt.

On me the initial spray is Clinique Happy alright but wait a half hour and this turns into a beautiful Rose scent on me.So weird that Rose wasn’t even listed here. But I’m absolutely smitten! The scent just envelopes around you and it is so divinely feminine. To my nose this IS the absolute twin sister of Chloe perfume, Amazing scent, I just love it!

If you’re worried that this will smell like Clinique Happy, still try it out if curious. While there is a resemblance in the notes, the Tory Burch is much, much better. It is different. There is just a whiff of Happy in there somewhere.

This scent has a certain sophistication if you will- a lovely scent for a woman in her late 30s, with main strong notes of citrus and is on the salty side with fresh floral notes, almost resembling laundry detergent. I imagine a certain elderly lady wearing this kind of scent, the kind that is not happy. It isn’t that distinguishable or unique but it does remind me of a bar of soap, a mild “Irish springs” soap. An inoffensive perfume that would not impress but certainly would not offend. That all said, it is almost like a resemblance of the Tory Burch brand itself, the preppy fashions for the older crowd that is on the plain side. If i smelled this on someone, I would not flinch and I do not even have a difficult palette to please within the perfume world, I admire a lot but this one was the kind where you forget the scent within seconds after smelling it. This actually resembles more of an air freshener than a perfume and I truly had higher hopes.

This fragrance immediately brings me to the mid-summer nights where orange blossoms blooming in the humid weather while greens bring you a bit of freshness. I love it so much. It is simply the scent of summer. But I don’t know why I can barely smell other notes but neroli and oranges, probably because this is the first impression I had and it affects me so much that I cannot put it aside. Nevertheless I like the perfume.
It is a unique neroli scent different from other neroli and orange blossom fragrances. I love orange blossom and neroli scents as they always remind me of summer though I do not know why since there are no such plants and flowers around my home in summer. The greenery notes distinguish it from others as those perfumes are either too bitter in hot days with a lot of oranges smell or sweet and warm in a winter way by mixing orange, orange blossom, and neroli with vanilla and almond. I like the latter as well but not in summer days. They have great performances in winter. With the freshness of green notes, it is not overly bitter yet has some level of bitterness which suits summer so well.
Besides, the bottle is stunning with orange and gold. It just represents mid-summer days. If you are a fan of orange blossom, you have to try this. It will not disappoint you.

Lmao @ stacia! I disagree with most that this smells like happy also. It reminds me of something but happy is pretty unique and I’ve yet to come across something like it. That being said, they’re both boring and basic. Tor burch kind of reminds me of envy me

I am sampling Tory Burch today, I was too curious after my friend called it The Most Basic Bitch of All Perfumes. She also called it “office friendly” which is one of her biggest disses of any ‘fume.
I was also intrigued by all the “smells like Clinique Happy” references, as I am quite familiar with Happy and always considered it my personal Most Basic Bitch scent.
I’ve got Tory Burch on one wrist and Clinique Happy on the other. Tory Burch is largely the better scent, although still awfully generic.
Tory Burch is an orange-grapefruit juice floral, while Happy is still a sharp chemical soup reminiscent of industrial cleaner. I really dislike Happy and I don’t find Tory Burch anywhere near as headache inducing. If I had a gun to my head and was forced to wear one of these, I would try to negotiate for Chanel Gabrielle instead.

It’s a lovely sweetish fresh fragrance, but I wouldn’t recognise it in a crowd.

Admittedly, I have never understood the fawning over the Tory Burch brand. Yes, she makes nice dresses, basic flats, and bags which have a stylish logo and a mid-high price tag. Her line is full of classics for the grown-up preppy. Her stuff is never going to offend, and therefore it’s a little bit boring.
This fragrance is exactly suited to the Tory Burch brand – classic, safe, and lacking excitement. This is floral with clean citrus, soapy neroli, classic peony. It stays close to the skin, and it will offend no one (unless you get trigger happy). It has admirable longevity – 8 hours easily. It smells a lot like the shower gel at my grandmother’s country club.
That said, I like it. It’s an inoffensive, refreshing scent for running errands, playing tennis/golf, and drinking gin and tonics.

This is a pleasant, herbaceous scent that would be acceptable for office wear in the Spring or Fall, however, as noted by a few others is not remarkable. Considering that this is her eponymous fragrance, it should be a,”Wow!”,not an,”Ok….”.
Yes, it is very similar to Happy but not as cloying thanks to the carrot seeds, the woody bottom notes and Alyssium (nice touch, the carrot seeds). But once again, Neroli has to show up at the party and ruin things. It conflicts with the grapefruit and creates a sour, flat note. Grapefruit as a top note should sing and zing but not in this case.
I look forward to trying her other scents but this one is heading for a Marshalls near you very soon.

It smells like an orange gone a bit beyond prime. Well beyond tbh.

I got this after getting the jolie fleur rose, and it was just a bit too heavy for me. I honestly am trying to sell it on ebay now but after seeing these reviews i can see why its not going anywhere. I don’t really think its all that bad, but gosh…

  14. :

    4 out of 5

When you smell the bottle, it really does have this fresh, citrusy smell – very summery, but then i sprayed it on myself and have to agree with some of the comments – it really does smell soapy and a bit heavy. Which in itself is not always a bad thing, as this perfume reminds me of some old-school soap my grandmother used to buy, and thus evokes some childhood memories. But nevertheless, i wouldn’t purchase it.

I enjoy this scent very much, from beginning to end. It’s mostly floral to me, not a bit of sweetness, along with a some wood and earth. Of the top notes I definitely get the grapefruit, neroli, and mandarin. Of the heart I get tuberose and what I’m guessing is the carrot seed, which I suppose gives the fleeting earthiness I’m getting. I can sense all of the base notes, though the musk is minimal on me. Sillage is borderline heavy and longevity is fine (6 hours). Strangely I only like this one on skin (I usually use my perfumes more as an all-over mist, since the scent usually lasts longer on clothes. However, this on clothes is all head-achy jasmine and none of the depth compared to on skin. As it’s quite strong, I’d say this is a Spring/summer, evening/special occasion fragrance for me.

  16. :

Like all Tory Burch scents, this is thin, boring, soapy and has low sillage and low longevity.

This fragrance is not named Tory Burch Citrus Sun or something – this is Tory Burch TORY BURCH. How unremarkable for the defining fragrance of a fashion house!
Back in the early 2000’s I had an Avon face wash (from their line of “mark.” products aimed at younger gals) that smelled exactly like the citrusy, stiff, somewhat “sporty” fragrance known as Clinique Happy. Well, Tory Burch smells exactly like Happy, which reminds me of bitchy highschool peers, OCD college roommates, every passive-agressive co-worker I had in 2003, and that darned Avon face wash! Why can’t I get away from this scent?!
So, of course, I’m over this Tory Burch fragrance…BEYOND over it. I can’t believe this is even being sold right now, being so out of style and so close to Happy, which, despite my distaste, is an iconic fragrance that is still readily available. I feel like the fragrances from Aerin Lauder would fit in with the vibe of Tory Burch clothing. I have yet to smell other TB fragrances, but hopefully they aren’t complete misses like this one.

Completely opposite to the Versace Oud Oriental I reviewed earlier, the very first sniff on my skin is pleasant, with the peppery citruses dominating.
I am glad I tried it on skin because on paper it’s horrible, really really horrible – not even a shampoo smell but washing up liquid smell.
I get no, absolutely none of the currant buds – pity that.
In the middle part, from about ten minutes after application onwards, Tory Burch turns into a largely inoffensive but mostly boring and rather unstructured floral .
It settles into a faintly unpleasant drydown, identical on skin and on paper, with a wee bit of vetiver.
All in all, you can smell like a niceish bath/shower product without spending this much money. Completely uninspired.

It started off really nice with a fresh citrus smell, but after a few minutes it started to smell way too sweet, heavy, and cheap. My husband told me I smelled like an old lady.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

To me, this is a dupe of Clinique Happy, minus the longevity of Happy. But a prettier bottle than Happy. Not quite as sharp as Happy when first applied. I guess to me this feels like/smells like a watered down version of Happy. If you are not familiar with Happy, think of a citrusy clean refreshing sunshine bright bombshell of a fragrance. A daytime scent, for sure, imho!!

It smells just like it could have been another variation of Estée Lauder Pleasures to me. This similar scent gives me flash back to the early 2000 when my sister wears the Pleasures for her graduation and thoughout her career as a secretary. Smells nice, quite floral and timeless. Too bad it’s just a bit pricey.

This is a beautiful and classically formulated citrusy floral perfume. It’s mature and engaging. I keep smelling my wrist. This is a gorgeous citrus burst at the first spritz. Smells like grapefruit and mandarin juice. Fresh and delicious. The fruit fades away fast and the heart is floral with peony mimosa jasmine and tuberose. It’s light white flowers. The flowers are sweet and not cloying, and also not heavy. The fragrance dries down to light woods, very nice wood scent. It’s easily unisex because it is so citrusy. I love how this smells. Smells clean and fresh, like when you are just coming out of a hair salon.

  23. :

I love this one and I usually don’t purchase Floral/citrus scents. This is a terrific and well balanced fragrance. T. Burch is soothing and safe without sharing the same fragrance notes that design houses use for department store perfumes. There is something uniquely divine about T. Burch even though it easily fits a variety of occasions (Work/School/Church/Dress), and seasons…Adding this one to my list of favorites.

Got a mini of this one and after testing it several times I would say it’s an okay scent. It opens citrucy, I mostly smell the orange and after a while a bit of the grapefruit. But it’s not a very strong citrus, in fact it’s quite light, but the orange is not bitter nor sweet, I would say is a natural orange.
After a while I start smelling the flowers and for me they are soft and powdery. Specially at the drydown.
I also think on the drydown smells quite similar to Amazing Grace by Philosophy, but less powdery and a bit more fresh.
I would not buy the full bottle, but I do enjoy it for what it is. A clean and soft very unnofensive smell.
Sillage is not very good though. This one is more of a skin scent after the citrus dissapears.
Longevity is just meh. I can smell it for about 4 hours and then I just have to stick my nose to my skin to really smell it.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

Delicate, airy, feminine. I know it’s nothing groundbreaking that we haven’t smelled before. It does have similarities to Happy by Clinique but isn’t nearly as sharp. But it also smells like Amazing Grace by Philosophy but with softer edges and a bit more orange blossom (soapy). And on my skin, it has pretty decent longevity. I love it and it makes me feel pretty.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

Fresh, bright fruity citrus. with an opulent body like something you’d expect from Chanel. The main body is like a FRESH cut Grapefruit peel, but less bitter, with a nice sweet Peony vibe. The dry down is much more musky, and sandalwood like.
Not bad, modern and fresh, “bright”
    Sillage: modest
    Longevity; pretty ok
scent, modern, fresh citrus, bright, rich

It did remind me instantly of Clinique Happy, which is not a bad scent, just very common nowadays. The worst part was that it gave me the most terrible headeache. If money was not an issue, and it is, I would buy it just to have that bottle which I think is gorgeous but nothing else.

  28. :

I love this scent! The citrus really stands out when you first smell the perfume in the bottle but on me I smell both the citrus and the floral. Most of the top and middle notes seem to be the scents I gravitate more and any perfumes with these notes, seem to be the ones I reach for the most. I wear this scent most to work and by the end of the day the smell still lingers. I always get complimented when wearing this perfume so something was done right!

  29. :

Happy without that irritating balloon smell? Yaaaaassss! LOL! Not trying to knock Happy, but I could never get over that ‘balloon’ note and on my skin it seemed to magnify. This I really do like and see myself wearing it more often as spring approaches. Well done and a surprise hit for me as I usually steer very clear of citrus based scents.

Just another fruit salad scent. I am so sick of these. Totally lacks imagination and vision.
I do sincerely hope that this citrus trend gets kicked to the curb. Couldn’t happen too soon.

One of my go-to wear-to-the-office scents. Not overpowering, citrusy and clean. A pleasant weave of top notes. I do not detect any of the mid notes whatsoever.

Whoa this scent is soo hott right now. It’s out of stock at my local Macy’s and I have to drive farther to find a store that will stock it. Sephora and Macy’s are the only ones right now.
In any case I am not surprised how quickly I jumped on the bandwagon(finally) with this scent. I think I want to collect all of the perfumes in this designer’s house, because they are just so my style. I ordered Jolie Verte and now I am ordering her original. Citrusy florals that are uplifting and energizing are so what I’m about. Yesterday I bought the rollerball from Sephora and was so addicted wearing it all night that I decided to cave and buy the biggest bottle. This reminds me of 2 fragrances that I used to wear all the time: Clinique Happy and Lancome Miracle. I was an avid user of these 2 fragrances, having repurchased several times. Clinique Happy’s shelf life was embarrassingly short. It would turn in 4 months time if I didn’t use it up. That’s the only thing I am worried about with this perfume given its citrus notes. However, the good reviews speak for themselves- this one is flying off the shelves, literally.
I don’t have to think about this scent. It is easy to wear given that it’s light and you can spray liberally and the ctirus tones make this a natural anti-depressant. It quenches my thirst for a perfume when I don’t know what to wear which is why I am going to make it my signature as soon as my bottle comes in.

  35. :

Ok scent, but longevity wasn’t there on me. Lasted 2 hours. Would call it a pretty floral. Got this in a mini set with the absolue version as well. Will have to try that one and see if I like it better. Definately didn’t like this version enough to invest in a full size bottle. Happy smelling! 🙂

  36. :

    3 out of 5

This is such a strange scent. The citrus notes remind me much of lemon pledge, but there’s also an odd soapiness to it, and I can’t place what it is.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

I wanted something a little more rich than what I normally wear, but still light and sparkling when I found this scent. I really liked the bright citrus that stayed with me for a looooong time in the lotion, so I bougnt the travel size and sprayed myself with a spritz or two.
Tory’s effort here surprised me in the fact that although there are some pretty strong notes that could irritate some people if used in another fragrance, she kept it delicate and pretty enough that it’s safe for most workplaces without it being too light to detect. Also, although I know I’ve tried perfumes that smell similar quite often, Tory Burch smells less synthetic and sits with my chemistry well. I definitely don’t dislike it.
All that being said, I agree with reviewers that say this has been done before. If you’ve done a good job balancing notes and producing a fragrance of quality like this one, I send high praise for the effort, but unfortunately, that’s about it. This is a big shoulder shrug and “meh” for me. I want to emphasize that I feel this perfume is very nicely done for what it is, and I was truly impressed by the balance and clarity. I didn’t hate it and don’t want to turn people off to what is actually a nice perfume, but if you’re looking for unique, this is not your fragrance.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

I sprayed this and two things happened. First, I immediately got the Clinique Happy comparison – the initial impression is of Happy without that irritating latex balloon accord. Tory Burch is sparkling, fresh citrus – like drinking an orange juice mimosa in a garden, so refreshing. Second, I sort of fell in love with this fragrance. Yes, love. And I realized why…Alyssum is one of my favorite floral scents of all time. I love the smell of those delicate little flowers in my garden. Never have I smelled that note in a perfume until now. Turns out Alyssum and sparkling citrus are quite a lovely combination. Yeah, this is going on my want list.
(edited to add: Disappointing longevity on this. Too bad.)

  39. :

    5 out of 5

The mimosa and alyssum really show up on my skin and it’s wonderful. So unique! Not your typical citrusy floral perfume. I bought some for my mother and best friend. We’re all gonna smell so good!

  40. :

    4 out of 5

Without needing to repeat the already thorough enough descriptions about all the notes in this fragrance, I just want to add that this perfume is simply delectable, absolute Heaven on Earth and my husband goes wild whenever I wear it! When I see any negative comments I’m like “What the whaaa?!” But understand everyone has different taste. Sweet. Fresh. Never soapy! Gorgeous almost edibly delicious fragrance ( in my humble opinion!)

  41. :

    3 out of 5

Bright, sparkling, sexy. Opens with strong floral and citrus notes. A blast of mandarin and grapefruit with peony following soon after. I detect rose even thought it’s not listed in the notes. I wish I detected the pepper, but sadly I do not. The dry down is warmer, with sandalwood and cedar becoming prominent. Even with the dry down I still smell a hint of the bright sparkling citrus that TB opened with. I’m not sure if it just works wonderfully on me, but it’s not very light or sheer and it lasts all day. Sprayed it on at 6:45 this morning, it’s about 3:30 pm now, and I still smell it!! I have a sample of it and I’m strongly debating going to Sephora after work to buy a bottle.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I was given a sample of this, and I couldn’t think of what it reminded me of, until I came in here! And yes it is very similar if not near identical to Clinique happy! It’s very pretty! I’ve not done any research into the price of this but if I was to find it for a good deal than I would pick it up!

  43. :

    3 out of 5

This starts out very citrus, and Clinique Happy comes to mind, but what I like about it most is the full body florals that come after, like how a standard perfume has traditionally been in decades past. Nevertheless, it is very modern, and womanly. This was my first impression. However, the second time, I didn’t like it so much…maybe because I missed the big floral moments and it had already gone when I went back to sniff my wrists. The third time I tried it, I was reminded of why I liked it and also of why I did not purchase: Any grandness dissipated quickly and the dry down was very boring, clean, and flat. The modern bottle design is great, especially with that bit of orange, kind of giving you a clue to its juice.

  44. :

Found a sampler probably from sephora laying around the house and decided to smell it. What I concluded from it is Tory Burch is simply a safe sent. Nothing more nothing less. This fragrance is not as complex as it comes of by looking at the notes. Just a clean citrus peony scent that was big in the late 90s and still is today. I recommend this if your a first time fragrance buyer and you just want to smell good during the summer and don’t really care if it stays or not. If you’re a collector, chances are you already have something similar so I wouldn’t waste the money or energy. Not really worth it.

I received this as a sample from Nordstrom. It is a full ounce in a very lovely bottle. The box is orange which evokes summer and citrus.
As soon as I applied it I knew it had to have been formulated by Estee Lauder.
It is citrusy with a soft floral edge. Another reviewer said she smelled rose right off the bat and so did I. It stays in this “rosy citrus” state for quite awhile. Eventually it dries down to a creamy tuberose gardenia scent with some sparkling citrus making cameo appearances now and again.
If you took Happy ad combined it with a little Private Collection Tuberose and Gardenia and maybe a little Be Delicious you get Tory Burch. All Estee all the time!
Not offensive but not notable. There are so many summer scents that surpass this – and many more I would rather drop a large chunk of change on.

I just found out that there are so many ingredients, and I just smell citrus. I used to love it when I bought, however, when I found different that I like, I just found that the citrus smell is too much in this perfume.

  51. :

    4 out of 5

This scent is very muddled and synthetic. It’s difficult to pick out more than loud Citrus-like notes and floralish notes in the opening, a peony-like note in the heart and woodsy-vetiverish notes in the dry down. Nothing is very identifiable and it’s all very murky. This is not a well crafted scent.
It does project well, which is ironic because it’s not something I want people to know I am wearing while I review it. The longevity is also not to bad, about 6 hours before it became a skin scent and 9 hours before it was gone. Unfortunately it did not wear well during this time.

  52. :

this is an almost sparkling bouquet of fruits and florals, like it’s trying to be a better clinique happy. it’s nice but nothing you haven’t smelled before. definitely will not be repurchasing.

The strangest thing about this scent is that even though I don’t see rose listed as a note, all I can smell on myself when I wear it is rose. Pure cheap bath products scented rose.

  54. :

    4 out of 5

Not impressed! It’s pretty, but not unforgettable. Light and citrus-y, maybe a wee bit salty. I don’t know what but there was nothing that stood out to me as a top note, middle note or base note. Go figure.
I have a couple of samples that I wouldn’t even bother wearing out if I want longevity. I wear it after I shower at night and I’m off to catch some Zzzzzs.
Like another poster said, this is “meh”.
I would have expected more from TB but maybe it’s a trial and her next fragrance will be of more substance.
    Here’s to hoping, anyway.

Tommy Girl without the tea, at least to my nose. From distant memory, perhaps somewhat similar to Happy, but I’d have to revisit it to be sure. Apparently people have voted as much though, so I guess that’s the one it smells more like! Weird though, I don’t recall Happy being this sweet. This scent is very sweet, very floral, and blatantly synthetic, sort of a bottled “essence of fluorescence.” There’s more peony than jasmine, but still a tremendous whiteout effect. I tend to think this type of cartoon girlishness works better on guys, but what do I know?

  56. :

    3 out of 5

My nose may be underdeveloped but I smell floral notes mainly. Similar to others. There is nothing particularly outstanding, but it is a nice easy to wear fragrance. I see the similarities to Happy, and probably many others. I think the peony is overtaking the citrus for me. I’m only using a test strip, so maybe the spray is grapefruity. Again, others may adore this, and I can see that they might. Bit it seems like one in a crowd to me.

Bright, springtime floral with some sophistication during the drydown…. Citrus and white flowers, cassis and musky wood, all accounted for…
    Spectacular, not really…
Pretty, fun, mood boost in a bottle, yes.
If you’re new to flowery fruit laced spring/summery scents, this one is worth a test.
Otherwise, I do get a “been there, done that” vibe…

Based on the accords of this fragrance, I expected to love it, however the reality of experiencing it was disappointing. I can agree with the comparisons to Clinique Happy but my first reaction was more of it’s being a clone of Happy to Be. Although both of those fragrances are enjoyable, I have to say Tory Burch wasn’t what I expected.

Pleasant citrus. But very generic and highschoolish. A whole lot of grapefruit. Nice, clean, safe. I’d totally pay $10 for this perfume.
    Fail.

Clinique Happy and Happy Heart blended together: that’s what this is! I love sparkling citrusy scents so this works for me.I blind bought the purse spray atomizer that comes with a chic case and three refillable spray bottles.I got it from Sephora online.I chose this based on the notes listed and the comparisons to Happy which I love.I’m going on vacation and wanted something new, fresh, clean and portable and the purse spray is perfect for my bag. After I finish the mini purse bottles I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase it in the full sized bottle but I’m enjoying it for the moment!

The new Sorority Girl perfume, I predict?
Tory Burch’s work has never appealed to me at all, but it’s all the rage and when she released her namesake perfume, the Upper-Middle Class Suburban world exploded. Every Ugg-pearls-and-north-face-jacket-wearing gal in America raved about it. I rolled my eyes and “meh”ed.
But then magazines, department stores and bloggers started raving about it and I thought “hey, what the hell? I’ll check it out.” I mean, I love Neroli. Peonies? Awesome! Alyssum? The flower from which my name comes from? Even more awesome!
Well, after checking it out, I’m back to “meh.”
There’s nothing grand about this perfume, in my humble opinion. It’s like a slightly (slightly) more expensive smelling Clinique Happy, which I am very much not a fan of. It smells like hundreds of other fragrances on the market. Certainly not worth the price. It’s generic and plain.

Received a sample of Tory Burch from Nordstrom the other day, and am finally trying it this AM. After about an hour, I’ll have to say, “Meh”–I won’t waste my money on this. It’s high priced and only so-so.

Tory Burch’s first fragrance was a scent that I was on the fence about for so long. It starts out with a sweet mandarin/neroli top note that is accented with a floral undertone of beautiful lush peony. Once it begins to dry down I can smell the fresh grapefruit that is smoothed out by the vetiver, so it does not smell sour or sharp. At first I thought I did not like it then – I decided that I did like it but, didn’t know if I would buy it. After giving it multiple tries I am happy to say, it completely won me over and I absolutely love it now! It was not the type of fragrance I am traditionally drawn to, but there is this simple sophistication about this fragrance that I just can’t get enough of. It is a fragrance that is suitable for everyday wear, on me it last around 4-6 hours, and is perfect for the spring/summer months. I hope Tory Burch continues to release new fragrances!

I am, shamefully, a fan of Tory Burch accessories. I love her sandals. But this is not good to me. It gives a strong floral scent. It’s too much. I had to wash it off cause it was making me sick. I dared to try a second time, it was better, but still too much. So glad I got the small, tiny bottle to trh

Bright, summery, watery floral that is fairly same-y. Nice, but boring.

I’m not so much surprised at the negative reviews since I know nothing appeals to or works on everyone, but the comparisons to Clinique’s Happy make me shake my head. Happy smelled like vomit to me, I had to return it. Tory Burch, on the other hand, actually does seem happy to me. It opens with a light, sparkling grapefruit. White florals follow close on the heels of the citrus, and kind of swamp them–I’m not wild about that part even though I do like white florals. I would have liked to hang onto the pure citrus a little longer. But the drydown is a gorgeous combination of woods and clean, creamy musk that lasts hours on my skin. It smells grown up but not in an “old lady perfume” way–I’d say it’s good for anyone mid-20s and up. I love it. I’m going to need a big bottle. Too late to ask for it for Christmas, but maybe for my birthday!

Reading these reviews and I’m shocked. I absolutely love this one. It’s very sweet and sexy in its own way. Outside of Angel by TM, this has to be my favorite designer womens fragrance. Give it a shot because its awesome.

Everyone is right – it does smell like Happy; a musty, unappealing copy of Happy.
Skip this one. It’s not worth half of its obscene price.

This is a gaggingly sweet knock-off of Happy without any of its charm. The white flowers and citrus attack immediately but there is nothing to temper the these notes and there’s no development at all. Yes, I can smell that incredibly boring pink pepper cliche but I refuse to believe there’s any vetiver whatsoever in this juice. My guess is the correct marketing campaign for this stuff (“If you like my boring overpriced preppy clothes, you’ll love my boring overpriced preppy perfume, now with free suede headband”) got overruled somewhe
