Description

Etat Libre d’Orange launches a new fragrance in March 2010, second celebrity perfume in a row, this time inspired by the English actress Tilda Swinton. Her favorite scent is the scent of home, so she wanted a fragrance that will be a magical potion with that kind of smell. Mathilde Bijaoui created for her a composition of yellow tangerine, ginger, pumpkin, immortelle, Moroccan neroli, Grass rose, vetiver, heliotrope and musk.

It is available as 50 ml EDP.

“I have always located my favourite fragrances at the doorways of kitchens, in the heart of a greenhouse, at the bottom of a garden. Scent means place to me : place and state of mind – even state of grace. Certainly state of ease. My favourite smells are the smells of home, the experience of the reliable recognisable after the exotic adventure: the regular – natural – turn of the seasons, simplicity and softness after the duck and dive of definition in the wide, wide world.

When Mathilde Bijaoui first asked me what my own favourite scent in a bottle might contain, I described a magic potion that I could carry with me wherever I went that would hold for me the fragrance – the spirit – of home. The warm ginger of new baking on a wood table, the immortelle of a fresh spring afternoon, the lazy sunshine of my grandfather’s summer greenhouse, woodsmoke and the whisky peat of the Scottish Highlands after rain. I told her about a bottle of spirit, something very simple, to me : something almost indescribable, so personal it should be. The miracle is that Mathilde made it.

The great Sufi poet Rumi wrote :

If anyone wants to know what “spirit” is,

or what “God’s fragrance” means,

lean your head toward him or her.

Keep your face there close.

Like this.

This is possibly my favourite poem of all time.

It restores me like the smoke/rain/gingerbread/ greenhouse my scent-sense is fed by. It is a poem about simplicity, about human-scaled miracles. About trust. About home.

In my fantasy there is a lost chapter of Alice in Wonderland – after the drink saying Drink Me, after the cake pleading Eat Me – where the adventuring, alien, Alice, way down the rabbit hole, far from the familiar and maybe somewhat homesick – comes upon a modest glass with a ginger stem reaching down into a pale golden scent that humbly suggests : Like This…”

Tilda Swinton

Composition: Yellow tangerine, ginger, immortelle flower, Moroccan Neroli, Grasse rose, vetyver, heliotrope, musks…”

It is fascinating how different this fragrance seems to be for each of us on our skin. I wanted to love this so much, but it turned out to be the opposite of what most of you have experienced.
After reading the notes and the reviews below, I was looking forward to experiencing a fragrance with heavy pumpkin and ginger notes–my favorite! Unfortunately, all I got on my skin was straight floral soap with intense musk and maybe a splash of artificial pumpkin. The scents I dislike most are soapy and musky fragrances because they give me a headache. For me, this is both, and it is close to being a scrubber. I don’t know how ‘sweet’ is the top main accord. I don’t get any sweetness, nor spice, nor citrus. Just flowers, soap and musk. Not what I expected from an October favorite. It smells more like Spring. The longevity and sillage seem to be pretty excellent, though.
Hopefully I will have better luck with other Etat Libre d’Orange fragrances. If anyone has any suggestions for a true pumpkin/ginger spice fragrance that does not smell soapy or musky, please let me know! <3

I gifted a sample of Like This to a friend. Another friend smelled it on her and loved it so much that she immediately bought a full bottle. This is the perfect scent for October! Pumpkin pulp, lightly spiced with grated ginger is the heart of Like This. When first sprayed there is a blast of tart tangerine and powdery heliotrope but that dies away within the first 30 minutes on me. As the hours pass, the ginger fades just enough to let the dry maple syrup smell of immortelle come forward. I absolutely get the sense of a cozy kitchen in the fall. Something wonderful is baking and you are sitting with a mug of hot spiced tea, chatting with your friend as they roll out dough for yet another baked good. All around the kitchen windows are bunches of dried herbs and a fluffy yellow cat sleeps in the sunlight on the windowsill.

On paper I thought this would be a slam dunk, but on my skin nothing in Like This plays well together at all. There’s a faintly powdery heliotrope overlaid with persistent ginger. What passes for pumpkin is rotted, the slightly sweet smell when the flesh has begun to soften. Threaded through this is also a soapiness that makes my head ache. My first reaction to the composition as a whole was musty, like a closed off room that hasn’t been aired in a long time.

Ginger, Immortelle and Vetiver are the real stars. Ginger as a perfect cameo, fleeting in the opening moments, juicy and zingy like the pickled pink slices that come with sushi. I’ve never liked ginger much as a note; this is totally different than anything else I’ve tried. Vetiver as supporting, letting immortelle shine in the lead. I’ve noticed the maple-nuances of immortelle before, in Like this and other scents, but never so on the nose as it was today. Maybe it’s a warmer day than I’ve ever worn Like This before, I don’t know. I work in a preschool have this one child that always smells like syrup. Today, Like This smelled like the lingering smell of a pancake breakfast in the clean hair of a young child. Nearly straight maple, but the vetiver almost imperceptibly balanced it into something living, musky, earthy. I don’t love sweet scents, but this had no “perfume-counter” sting of a half-effort gourmand.

While I love, admire, and respect Tilda Swinton, what I get from this scent is the sour blend of burnt liquor and food that doesn’t go together. If this is what her home smells like…I’d still love to visit!

Initially, I smell some light, possibly citrusy florals, and warm spices. Once that fades (quickly), all that’s left for me is a sweet gingery scent. It reminds me of an Indian grocery store, or other import grocery stores. This is not an unpleasant thing for me, since I frequently shopped at imports stores as a child. I definitely didn’t expect to get only ginger from this composition. This scent, like all the others that I’ve sampled from Etat Libre, only seems to last around two or three hours on my skin, and entirely as a skin scent.

The pumpkin is “green” and vegetal and immortelle is one of my favorites. Definitely gives an early autumn feel, but it’s not heavy and overdone like so many autumn scents. As it dries down, I smell the heliotrope and it adds a comforting, feminine note.

One of the best fragrances I ever smelled. really fits the Actress Tilda Swinton.
    suitable for autumn time.
the soapiness of it comes from the immortelle but it’s not one-dimensional fragrance at all.pumpkin ginger and tangerine also present. a lovely combination of notes.
it has a mysterious vibe. ( the look of Tilda Swinton 😀 )
it’s very clean, warm and gentle Scent. Stylish as Hell
    definitely bottle worthy
    Scent 9/10
    Projection 7/10
    Longevity 8/10

This smells like the soaps, lotions and room sprays you see in TJ Maxx in the autumn months. Maybe its because the pumpkin note is so predominate to my nose, but this is way more like a room deodorizer or scented candle than in actual perfume to be worn on skin. Completely unisex. Its not bad, it’s complex and a nice cozy fall smell, but it’s a no for me.

The really pretty good scent! If performance was double I’d probably buy a bottle, make me an extreme version plz!

I “like this”. Comforting is indeed the word that comes to mind, perfect for Fall weather. I’m sampling from a ELDO splash vial, and the opening is a floral gourmand (if there can be such a thing) then turns herbal on me in the drydown.
Like This has some distinct stages, and I’m ready to try a full spray. I don’t know if I’m in love yet, but I can say this is an interesting and complicated perfume.
I resisted this line, specifically a celebrity endorsed perfume….until recently. The packaging and branding just always felt like it was trying to hard to be abstract.
But I think Tilda Swinton is the perfect choice, kinda an oddball (in a good way) with talent choice. She’s fun to watch on screen. And this perfume matches those sensibilities.

Soft and sweet but not any less unisex than a lot of unisex frags.

I love the way it smells straight from the bottle. The scent reminds me of my childhood. It is a very unusual smell, kind of gourmand. It evokes quite a specific vision – like you are eating a spicy pumpkin pie cuddled up in a warm blanket, sitting on your front porch on a sunny fall afternoon as the sun is slowly setting and you feel a light breeze blowing through your hair.
Unfortunately on my skin it turn into this weirdly sweet sharp smell so I prefer spraying it on my clothes. I use it in the fall season only.
GREETINGS FROM THE CZECH REPUBLIC! 🙂

This is my special fragrance from my husband who bought me as a gift for our last anniversary. This is like my secret being like a child scent which turned me toward time into a fairytale everytime I wear.Spicy pumpkin did the magic plus its gourmand just like a fresh bread from the dark witch’s oven in the wood.Longevity is good but I wish the sillage would be more.I wear it as my sotn which makes me a very good and sweet dream.

I did not have any expectations about this fragrance considering the notes, but I can describe it briefly as having some autumnal vibe. However, the association with the interior of a lady’s bag is predominant to me. Imagine the smell of cosmetics has permeated into the compartments of the bag. You are looking for something inside, but this smell is everywhere, yellow and orange, warm and a bit nostalgic. It is a powdery, slightly sweet and old-fashioned perfume.

It is nearly six in the morning on December 24th, 2017. I have been up all night, fueled by ill-timed liquor naps, strong coffee, and irresponsible life choices. I should be busy spending my hard-earned Real American Money Dollars to celebrate Jesus’s Birthday and the American Capitalist Religious State. But this is 2017. Things started bad and they’ve been getting worse all year. I am gay, stressed, and afraid all the time now.
So on our day of the Lord December 23, 2017, I, an anxious queer living in uncertain times, decided to give up for a while and drink five pumpkin ales, take an ill-timed liquor nap and then wake up at 10 PM to write perfume reviews until dawn. I mean I didn’t plan for the perfume reviews, but Christmas shopping means free testers and promotional minis.
This review is for Etat Libre D’Orange’s “Like This,” which I have in a tester. This is a tone-poem, an ode to orange drawn in scent, according to the marketing copy that came with it. It also shares a sweetly caramelized pumpkin note with the five bottles of pumpkin ale I drank as I tried to alleviate the creeping sense of impending doom I’ve felt every day since January 20th, 2017. Pantone got it wrong: orange was the 2017 Color of the Year. Many significant things that happened in 2017 were orange, such as the 45th President, Cheetos, and fascism. Luckily, “Like This” smells like none of those terrible things.
Designed with Tilda Swinton, an actress as talented as she is eccentric, “Like This” is a wacky smell. I did not expect to like this nearly as much as I do! It is very unique, quirky but wearable. It shares a few character traits with the fruity/floral/woody accord that is so overused in modern perfumes, but it is less sweet, more vegetal, and all the better for it. I find it quite an androgynous scent, green and gourmand, and it’s nice for days when I don’t want to try to hard with my gender presentation. I like to wear this with a chunky cableknit sweater, worn jeans, and work boots, things that are comfortable and warm and unisex.
Right after spritzing, “Like This” smells like sunscreen on me. The sunscreen smell lingers for a few minutes, not more than 10. Afterward, I get a definite citrus punch at the top, followed by something spicy and a bit rude. I don’t see cumin listed, but the rude note is similar. The ginger is big in this, spicy-sweet. It smells candied. Between the ginger and the “spices”, this reminds me of very classy pumpkin pie.
“Like This” smells like late afternoon at the end of the harvest. Yes, there are florals, but they’re subtle. Like your mom was baking while wearing Chanel No. 5. It’s fresh but not a clean: it’s loamy and little bit smoky at the base. There’s a hint of compost in the vetiver/musk here, but it’s a vital, living smell. At first it was confusing, but now that I’ve worn this a couple of times, it reminds me of peat. It’s a very Scottish note…. “Like This” smells like familiar winter rituals happening in an exotic place, a place familiar enough to be comforting but also very far away from Donald Trump. There is something very classic about this even though it’s so unusual.
Moderate sillage: less than an arm’s length, but more than a foot. Lasts 8 hours or so, and stays quite complex through the finish. The sun is up, I am very tired and today Christmas Eve. In six hours, I will drag my gay ass to dinner with my Republican relatives and hear twelve racist things before dessert. Luckily, I will be wearing “Like This” to remind me that there is at least one orange thing in the world that’s so beautiful even the Cheeto-in-Chief cannot destroy it.

Citrusy tangy-sweet, the spicy sharpness of ginger, the sun warmed hay-like immortelle, some fresh flowers, a little bit of musk, and maybe I detect some freshly cut into raw pumpkin?
It’s a happy scent, makes me smile when I smell it. Lovely for a Fall day in a warm climate. A warmer take on the fruity floral.

Not as sweet and cosy as I was expecting. On the wrong day it can almost smell like dirty hair. I still like it though, strangely, lol.

Why is no one mentioning the heliotrope?? I blind bought this fragrance based on the notes everyone was talking about, thinking it would smell “androgynous” but what I smell is a heliotrope-heavy floral fragrance with ginger, pumpkin, and immortelle embellishments. Colleagues say they smell “tangerine and orange blossom” I would agree with them. It certainly is not the pumpkin pie and gingerbread cookie fragrance everyone seems to be calling it. Those notes are just in the background of this feminine scent. Hope my mom likes it, I’m sending it to her.

It smells more or less like I expected it to from the description, with one main difference – on my skin it is less sweet than I thought. I don’t get any gourmand associations from it, whether sweet or not, possibly because I am utterly unfamiliar with pumpkin in any form. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a pumpkin in real life so I have no idea what pumpkin tastes or smells like, and thus I have no foody associations to it.
On me, Like This is spicy, oily, somewhat green/herbaceous with a distinct greenhouse note. It smells old and wholesome, like a farmhouse with a history. I think I have said “liniment” in every single review of fragrances that feature immortelle, and this is no exception. I can see how one could absolutely adore this fragrance, it correlates with my image of Tilda 100 %, but it is definitely not me in any shape or form.

Ive been wearing a sample of this for the past few days and its been driving me crazy because it smelled so familiar but I just couldn’t put my thumb on what it was. Well…it hit me this morning. I was thinking about what perfumes my mom used to have and then it dawned on me. If I’m not mistaken, this smells almost exactly like this one she used to have called Longing by Coty. Both are very pretty perfumes. Almost makes me wish she hadn’t gotten rid of the Longing perfume lol.

I love the story above behind this scent and that the perfumer didn’t create this based on her interpretation of what Tilda Swinton might smell of or stand for, but rather a scent that Tilda Swinton desires, and that is one of home, a state of mind, grace and ease — one with spirit. My admiration for her grows even more with this scent. This seems to be a very personal, intimate fragrance to her and not just one that she sold her name to. I often wonder what my own ‘Like This’ scent would smell like. I haven’t quite figured that out yet. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy Tilda’s:
Like This opens with aromatic ginger, not too bracing or sharp, but yet still fresh and light. Fresh neroli and something like a hint of feminine orange blossom start to interplay with the ginger and provide a sweetness that is unexpected. I don’t pick up pumpkin but there is a light golden earthy warmth.
As Like This warms up, caramel tones bloom and the scent of licorice starts to spiral. Yes, the spicy, herbal facets of immortelle show their darker face. Here I’m reminded of a long discontinued scent that flew under the radar, the very underrated Alfred Dunhill Desire for women in the flip top pink flacon — licorice, caramel, citrus, vanilla and soft dreamy florals… yes, ‘like that.’ Like This even gives a nod to a much softer version of Aomassai.
The heliotrope and musk accord stands out here, smooth, angelic, serene and giving Like This a warming comfort that feels rather original — a lightweight angora wrap on a chilly, foggy day. Just sublime.

Like This opens (on my skin) with a refreshing blend of neroli, rose, and tangerine. I’m a neroli and a rose lover, so that suits me just fine! It dries down to a smooth, sweet, floral scent. I can’t pick out any individual notes at this point, although I swear I can catch a hint of caramel. It’s definitely artfully blended because none of the individual notes are discernible to my nose. At this stage I really, REALLY enjoy Like This. But, then it seems to slowly disappear without giving me any inkling of ginger, musk or vetiver.
I purchased Like This as part of a Limited Edition Etat Libre d’Orange Discovery Set. As much as I’m enjoying it, I won’t be purchasing the full size bottle. The sillage is too close to the skin for my preferences, and it’s not as long lasting as I’d like.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

‘Like This’ spotlights a gorgeous caramelized sugar with well-tempered sweetness. This is primarily immortelle-vetiver on my skin, which is unexpected, given how far down on the user-votes vetiver resides. It’s definitely less vetiver than Fat Electrician, but I would have given it runner-up billing. This smells like Autumn to me.
Gourmand range is the least explored perfume territory, and it’s time to start welcoming pyrazines, ethyl maltol, & sotolons in my life. You’ve converted me with this gem of a creation! Tilda was a favorite out of the 7-vial Eldo sampler kit. Ordering a full bottle this week.
Am delighted beyond words with the projection & lasting power.

“Luminous” is the first adjective that comes to my mind when I wear this perfume. The others are “zen-like”, “poised”, “elegant”…Ginger and tangerine are the notes I detect most (obviously), and they last pretty long on my skin. A perfectly balanced creation!

  27. :

    5 out of 5

The opening is bright and sunny orange and neroli as it settles The immortal takes over with pumpkin giving earthy support and ginger as a background note keeping the sunny warmth.
This is a late summer/early fall dried meadow to me.
    It is surprisingly elegant.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

Nice fragrance of modern line and relaxed aroma !!
Under a floral chord of heliotrope (quite musky) the whole development of the aroma is marked and as it evolves becomes more powdered, to this is joined a sweet squash chord by the touch of the immortal to produce a semi gourmand elegant and clearly super female.
The composition without being surprising, I find very well done with good qualities. Decent duration, projecting in moderation.
The ideal perfume for a sexy witch or Cinderella, as you identify yourself.
    Rating: 7.5

I was spraying with it my room. 🙂 It gave me nice feelings. Usually in Saturdays when I have cleaned my house. 🙂

The ginger here is soft, sweetened by the pumpkin and tangerine. Nothing sharp or in-your-face about this – it’s a skin scent that, like the poem it’s inspired by, invites people to pull in close and linger. Something almost caramelized starts to come out as the scent settles on your skin, but it’s not something you’d eat – it’s the rose and neroli and the soft musk swimming in sticky golden syrup.
It’s beautiful. It fades gracefully, like someone you love has just left the room.
This scent would be perfect in the autumn, as the air turns crisp and still. This is what a Ray Bradbury novel smells like, all October and nostalgia and the innocence of childhood.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

Although I like this upon my first try, it doesn’t seem to be the best fit for a dreary English spring day. I think I will hold onto this until Autumn to give it a fair trial.
Perhaps my nose deceives me, but there is well hint of Al Rehab’s Dalal to me. Albeit a much better blended version.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

On me , this is a just out of the oven gingerbread cookie . Fades down to a musky skin scent fairly quickly.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

This scent, minus Tilda and sufi mysticism, is the story of tangy ginger and tangerine coming together with hay-like helichrysum and woody vetiver. The galangal-esque nuances to immortelle absolute make it a wonderful pairing with ginger, while the hay facets, vetiver and tangerine give a ginger bread tonality and shift things to the gourmand. This is aided by the unique pumpkin accord that I feel interconnects every note, commingling to create something that hovers between edible and inedible, but always pleasant. Folks writing that this smells of ‘cleaner’ I can’t quite see…too often that word is used when no other better words are known to describe a fragrance.
Something else I really love is that this fragrance works in spring, height of summer, even fall into winter, as it can be alternately refreshing or warm and comforting, depending. Spritz liberally as sillage and tenacity vary from person to person. Sillage is better in warm weather but tenacity suffers; the opposite is true in colder weather. Happy sniffing.

In short, this is October in a bottle. I get pumpkin, ginger and a lovely dry hay vibe (perhaps the immortelle?) all wrapped in a freshness as crisp as a fall breeze. I am surprised that I enjoy this so much- it was a blind buy and I feared I would smell like a seasonal candle, but it’s much more clean and reserved- also very original and a bit edgy, I think. No powder and roses here, it’s more of a memory scent than a perfume if that makes sense- I wear this any time I want to relive that first fall Saturday when the leaves are bright, the sky is blue and there’s that first hint of a chilly breeze.

  35. :

This scent is so confusing. From the notes I thought I would love it. Also, people describing it as a gourmand and pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread or a homey kitchen.
Instead, this smells like old makeup, ginger, and spices. Not like some yummy dessert. It certainly is interesting but I’m not sure I would buy a bottle and wear it as perfume. There’s nothing sweet here. There’s nothing pretty here, either. It’s an herbal, dry scent – and not even a pleasant one.
I am going to get one more wear out of my little sample, perhaps it will have grown on me by then.
I don’t smell neroli or rose in this at all.

  36. :

I love imortelle, this is so yummy, I do not know if I can identify the pumpkin at all, but I feel musk and ginger, interesting and different.
    I evaluate this:
    Smell: 8.5/10
    Projection: 7/10
    Longevity: 8/10

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Immortelle, which has a bit part in many fragrances, plays a starring role here. The immortelle freshens what would otherwise be an over gourmand whiff of pumpkin pie and orange.
The is almost a skin scent and it’s wonderful for that. It doesn’t announce itself from across the room. When you hug someone, they will always tell you how delicious you smell. It’s a nice little gift for the people you want to hold close.

  38. :

I use perfume ‘gifts’ to pay myself for establishing good habits and buy myself many bottles each season. Like This is my favorite from this autumns’ batch of purchases, and a clear winner of my affections in 2016/17.
I find Like This to have warm strength and a bright airy essence. The natural smelling beauty often surprises me at random moments on scarves, or on fabrics for days after it’s applied.
Since it’s rather new (and I have so many perfumes) it often gives me an “oh my goodness, what IS this heavenly aroma” moment… and then I remember it’s Like This, delighting me again.

I got a sample of this quite some time ago because I was so intrigued by the notes and was immediately repulsed. I didn’t even give it a chance to properly dry. 2 years later, I got a sample with a Sephora order and I have to say I actually really like it. I still didn’t like it upon spraying, but that passed quickly – once dry it got lovelier and lovelier. It really does smell like pumpkin, in a fresh, carving-at-halloween or baking your own way – like fresh pumpkin flesh. Add into that cut ginger and the immortelle really does give it a kitcheny, homey vibe. As someone who cooks/bakes a lot (especially cold weather comfort food) this surprisingly really speaks to me. Its warm and comforting and evokes a lot of fall memories. Despite the pumpkin and ginger, this really doesn’t strike me as “gourmand” as its generally used….its not sweet, and I wouldn’t say its edible. I don’t get pumpkin pie or pumpkin spice candle vibe at all. The only spice is ginger – no cinnamon, no vanilla, no sugar, no baking spices. This had to grow on me but I quite like it. Plannung to get a small bottle for next fall. This had already been said, but great scent, definitely not good as a blind buy tho.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

What I get from this is the aroma of a pumpkin that has just been cut and some ginger in the background. It’s not terribly sweet, quite pungent in the beginning. Striking and not unpleasant at all, I laugh because it almost smelled to me like the pages of freshly minted glossy magazine. Maybe vogue. It has an edge, a comfortable presence and not too much warmth at first but as it progresses there is a feeling of closeness. I can see why a lot of people say it’s suitable for fall. But I could wear it anytime of year. I don’t know much about Tilda Swinton but just from her looks and persona, this is how I imagine she smells.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

Nice, yes…But, I was hoping for a story. I wanted dusky, herbal ambiance. I anticipated a window into the exotic childhood of Tilda Swinton. What I perceived, instead, was a nice shot of salted caramel-esque immortelle, followed by… “With Love” by Hilary Duff, only weaker. Just some vaguely warm woods, fruits and spices. (I happen to be a big fan of “With Love”, and own several backup bottles. I just didn’t expect “Like This ” to be its watered-down cousin.) “Like This” doesn’t smell *bad*, but I’d be beyond disappointed if I’d bought a full bottle at this price point.

I purchased a large size sample a little over a month ago. The first time i tested this i was disappointed. It was very close to the skin and dissapeared in one hour. I was confused about all the reveiws talking about pumpkin and spice and everything nice:) what i could smell of the scent i enjoyed but thought the bad performance made it a pass. Something must have been wrong with my chemistry because i just re tested and i get it! I get the magic, uniqueness and even the pumpkin!! At first spray i get ginger, fresh grated ginger , heliotrope and oranges. It’s gummy like a gummy bear, it makes me want to chew on my arm. As it melts with my skin the pumpkin is front and center along with syrupy immortal . The pumpkin is not sweet pumpkin pie, it is a fresh pumpkin, when you cut it open and smell the guts and seeds! That’s exactly what it smells like! Somehow it manages to remain edible with that gummy bear feel and to smell like an expensive pumpkin spice candle at the same time! It’s not a weak scent. I have other perfumes on in different spots and Tilda Swinton Like This is over powering the rest. Longevity — I’ve had it on for 3 hours now and i can still smell it just sitting here writing. Sillage an arms length the first 20 minutes then is closer to the skin but still noticeable to others. I love it!

I expected something more polarising and strange, but this is actually quite likeable I think. I see how it leans into gourmand territory, but it’s spicy and woody, not sweet or cakey. Note that there is no vanilla.
It’s mostly ginger, like you broke a fresh root in two. Not to be confused with gingerbread note. Immortelle brings a burnt feel to it, almost like the crispy crust on creme brulee, except Like This is not particularly sweet but instead dry and gritty. Pumpkin, not so much. It shares some notes and texture with some masculine perfumes, but this is clearly feminine. Overall I think the spices are quite soft and not piercing or sharp, I recommend spice and gourmand lovers to try this out!

Baked cinnamon pumpkin pie. A litter gingery, but not too much. The texture is dense, slightly oily (yes I am refering to the perfume not the pie).

What I get from this is a light spicy/musky scent that is low on sillage and longevity. Immortelle is a note that is very pronounced in some, such as Goutal’s Sables and Bois 1920’s Relativamente Rosso but in this case it’s too much in the background. Ginger is also very present which possibly collides with it making it less noticeable or less pungent. This is my first and last sampling of it and while it’s a likeable scent for me it’s not my type.

You know how when you visit somebody’s house, or even come back to your own house after being gone for a while, and there’s that weird somebody-else’s-house smell? This is that weird smell as a perfume. It’s good though.
Update: I tried layering this with L by Lolita Lempicka and that combination smells just like a slice of pumpkin pie! L adds vanilla, cinnamon, and dough and brings out the maple-like immortelle.

What a beautiful fragrance! It is the true essence of Autumn…a cornucopia of spices, herbs, pumpkin, orange gold and crimson leaves, crisp Fall air, all rolled into tight bundle of joy tied with a shimmering bow.
I am taken to a country store in the Autumn also where the floors are aged hardwood and creak when you walk, and they have dried herb and spice sachets hanging everywhere and simmering pots of potpourri on a wood burning stove. I can smell a pumpkin spice pie fresh out of the oven also…just beautiful…Sugar and spice and everything nice! There is also a lovely touch of makeup running through that gives it a feminine feel…lovely.
My favorite time of the year..Happy Fall!

I really like this but the first thing I picture (and can’t shake) is an image in my head that comes up every time I smell this. I picture a jolly old woman baking in an old house in the countryside. She has an apron on and she is baking pumpkin bread and ginger cookies. She pulls you in to give you a hug and her bosom smells like this–powdery, sweet, slightly spicy from the ginger and pumpkin, but not overly foody. It is a grandmother’s gourmand. I love it, but I can’t wear it without feeling matronly.

Really bad. Even hard to describe. Herbal notes are mixed with ginger and musk. I truly can’t bear it. I think it’s my skin that does not like it, because I would never believe that someone produced such scent – the way it developed on me.

I’m quite astounded! I did not expect this fragrance to be this magical. Tilda Swinton conjures up androgyny to the max so I didn’t expect this to be feminine, alluring, softly sweet (not candy), almost romantic in its presentation! I gave it time to develop on my skin and fell deeply in love. A must try. Blind buy not recommended.

Didn’t really get the magic that others got with this
all i got was sour pumpkin and soap.
    The dry down was nice.

wow, this is pretty. i get pumpkin, tangerine, spices and florals after first applying. it’s sweet, warm and inviting, like a candlelit room brimming with the scent of spices and sweetness on a cool fall evening. it smells golden and orange to me. another thing it brings to mind is a setting sun through some french doors while sitting on a red couch and there are pumpkins and tiger lilies around. a fall day where it’s chilly outside, but you’re sitting inside, warmed by the rays of the sun streaming through the window.

So wee Serge Jnr was skipping merrily around the paddock, waving his bottles of five o’clock gingembre and jeaux de peau in the air, giddy and carefree, when suddenly out of nowhere, Tilda Swinton stuck out a random leg/tentacle, and sent poor Serge crashing into the immortelle-strewn earth, smashing his bottles, mixing magics, poor Serge, pour Serge, don’t be sad, you smell pleasant enough…still,
