I always have a great time when I visit my local Penhaligon’s boutique because the reps are always very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about perfume. I was given a generous decant, and immediately found the bright blue colour of the juice amusing. I chose Blazing Sam as my sample because it smelled the most interesting on a test strip with warm, enveloping spices. Unfortunately on my own skin it took two hours before I could detect anything at all beyond cardamom. Luckily this did change in almost imperceptible degrees, as I would suddenly catch a hint of cedar or cinnamon in the air and realise that it was me. I was occasionally reminded of Amouage Epic Woman but this isn’t nearly as complex. In fact, to my surprise Sam dries down to a toothsome sweet pipe tobacco with lashings of vanilla threaded through that still lingering spice. A gourmand that I wasn’t quite expecting, but not unpleasant.
Soul – :
I love this scent, it is very similar to Penhaligons Halfeti, In fact the drydown is almost identical. In saying that Halfeti is an amazing scent and has great projection and longevity. This blazing Mr. Sam is like a super strong version of halfeti and the projection and longevity are absolutely amazing. Put on a few sprays from tester this morning and still getting wafts now past midnight. Am loving it and it will join my wishlist for the future 🙂
