This starts out dry and dark and musky. There is a saltiness to it. I’m guessing this is the leather since many leathers seem “broken” — like various leather tanning ingredients on my skin, but I think the malt is adding to it. The bergamont gives a touch of sharpness but could be missed if you weren’t looking for it.
Most scents have top notes that fade and leave a drydown of what remains. This one feels as if the jasmine and vanilla come out of the shadows and overtake the dry tobacco, leaving it powdery in the background, but still present.

Strangely, this isn’t so much a tobacco scent on me as it is leather. On my skin the opening is similar to SMN”s Nostalgia, but as it dries down, it becomes a combination of L’Artisan de Perfumeur’s Dzing! AND Nostalgia…in a good way.

I love tobacco scents and am a big fan of Tom Ford’s popular Tobacco Vanille, so I knew I would enjoy this scent. This one, Tabacco Toscano, has just what I like, vanilla and tobacco together. However, this scent evaporates like it never existed. Tom Ford’s scent is so strong that it is still on my jacket collar a day later. This scent, however beautiful it is, disappointed me by evaporating completely within the hour. Someone else has already mentioned this problem, and I concur. I was in heaven for about a half hour and then it was gone, and that’s with so much on that I had to wait for my skin to dry off, that’s how much I put on my skin. By noon, even with my nose close to my skin … nothing. I mean, you have to work hard to make a perfume disappear this completely and this quickly.

Fragrances from Santa Maria Novella is not to my liking, as much I want to. Including this one. However, it is probably the best scent from the company. I don’t feel like smelling like an old bag of tobacco (I am 44).

Tabacco Toscano doesn’t grab me as a rich tobacco scent, rather it has a fairly prominent birch tar/leather note on opening which my skin projects with a rather phenolic dominance.
This soon settles softly into a smoky, vanillic scent with a subtle glowing amber. More dry smoke weaving through rather than the richness of moist tobacco. As a leather scent, this is quite nice, smooth, smoky, beautiful.

The scent is beautiful. I cant pass the bottle without giving it a whiff. The combination of tobacco and vanilla are perfectly paired to soothe the senses. However, at $150 a bottle one would expect the scent to last longer than 15 minutes. The first time I wore the scent to work I was super excited to share the experience with my co-workers. I was dismayed that even with heavy dosing, the scent is completely vanquished within the hour. The tobacco vanishes and all complexity is lost. You are left with a vanilla so subtle one must inhale like a horse, nose pressed to skin, to get anything at all. I would not recommend this scent unless money is no concern and you can spray to your hearts desire. The candle version has a stronger tobacco presence. I wish the perfume was more similar to the candle in that aspect.

I finally bought a bottle after going in the SMN that opened near DC and trying it on, I couldn’t stop smelling myself so I took the plunge. Truly a warm and inviting scent, once the citrus descends into the Amber and pipe tobacco I imagine myself sitting in front of a huge stone fireplace in the hills of Tuscany. Also, the way it is packaged and presented makes me feel like I invested in something top notch and worthwhile.

This is a very very dry tobacco scent. It goes on citrus then quickly dries down to tobacco leaf, not a sweet pipe tobacco. I swear when it is totally dried down that I smell leather. No longevity, not like the SMN scents I purchased when in Italy 15 years ago. This is weak.

Smelled this at Castello di Amorosa in Napa and fell totally in love with it. Did not buy because of price but otherwise a very classic smelling cologne. The tobacco here reminds me of DG The One. At first I thought it was a leather dominat scent until I saw the name “tabaco” at the back of the bottle. Does not come with sprayer but I have a bunch of decant bottles so that’s not an issue.

Not bad! I am quite impressed by the smell actually. The tobacco in this one is rather soft and well blended with some sweet notes compared to many other tobacco scents I have got. A little bit too dry but very pleasant, especially the dry down which is quite floral (not very feminine though). The only problem is the projection on my skin.

منذ ان بدأت رحلتي مع الخطير شيرجي بطابعه التبغي الجميل اضحت نوتة التبغ ضمن اهتمامتي ولكن للاسف عطور التبغ لاتجد الكثير التي تعجبك أحيانا يقدم التبغ بصوره ثقيلة ذكورية طاغية غير مستساغه بحانب مكونات تحتاج لفتره لتصبح اكثر قبولا مع مرور الوقت.
وبالصدفة ودون تجربة وبعد البحث قررت أن أقتني هذا العطر
الذي لم يخيب ظني ابدا انه حقا احد اروع عطور التبغ التي جربتها تخيل عطر تبغي لذيذ ناعم سمكوي بشكل غير مزعج كم أصبحت مغرم بهذا العطر
بداية العطر لمسة جدا جدا جدا ناعمة من البرقموت الذي يعطيك فقط شعور بتواجد شي حامض قليلا سرعان ماتنسى امره، بجانب لمسة الياسمين الرقيقة التي تكاد تلحظها ايضا هنا ما اجمله من توظيف جميل لمقدمة العطر
تلك المقدمة يشاركها جوهر العطر بخطواته الواثقة إنه التبغ برائحة السمكوية بجانب خشب البتولا ممايعطى الرائحة السمكوية التبغية طابعا لرائحة كرائحة الخشب المحترق بشكل ناعم وغير مزعج يشارك قلب العطر العنبر والفانيلا بملستيهما الناعمتين التي لم تؤثر على شخصية العطر المرسومه وانما كملت وخففت حدة التبغ.
العطر بملسته التبغية فيه جوانب معينه بسيطة جدا من عطر شيرجي و توباكو فانيلا من توم فورد ولكن من وجهة نظري هذا اكثر تقبلا واسهل ارتداء ويصلح للجنسين ويصلح لجميع الفصول
اكثر النوتات وضوحا التبغ والفانيلا الناعمة اللذيذة والعنبر
المكونات الاخرى مجرد لمسات وبخصوص الشعير لم استطع تمييزه حقيقة ولكن اعتقد انه تواجده مع الفانيلا اعطى الجانب اللذيذ مع ملاحظة وجود رائحة بودرية خفيفه لاحقا.
هذا العطر أراهن انه سيعجبك محبي التبغ والعنبر والفانيلا وبشكل عام عشاق العطور
تركيز العطر كلونيا ولهذا لا تتوقع ان يكون هناك فوحانا خارقا ولاثباتا خارق، فجمال الرائحة واتقان التوليفة ستنسيك ذلك.

I used to smoke pipe a few years back, so I’m quite picky when it comes to tobacco perfumes.
This one gets it.
It smells just like the dry tobacco I used from the bag. A slightly vanillic aroma, and dry tobacco leaves. Sweet, but not too sweet. They even got the woods right.
The best tobacco perfume I’ve tried to date. Way ahead of Volutes and Tobacco Vanille in that it smells genuinely like pipe tobacco.
I do like Volutes and TV, but Volutes can get too sweet in the drydown (somewhat losing the essence of the tobacco), and I personally think TV is just way too sweet throughout, and I always struggle to find tobacco in that one (I mostly get honey and vanilla).
So if you want to know what true pipe tobacco smells like, look no further. Longevity is great as well. Lasts just as long as Melograno (6 hours on my skin, if not more). Sillage seems good too, I do get wafts after applying on my wrist.
Very highly recommended.

ELEGANT TABACCO
As a Florentine man, smart, sexy, in a tailored suit with an expensive Italian briefcase walks thru a 5-star hotel – yes, this is what he’s wearing.
This is a beautiful scent. It’s deep, rich, simple yet sophisticated.
The tobacco is definitely present, but not overpowering, in the top and heart. Vanilla accompanies. Later on – Vanilla takes more of the driver’s seat – but tobacco is still a passenger.
Love this.
ps. I have not sampled Tom Ford’s tobacco vanille – I’d be curious as to the similarities/differences.

Tobacco pipe, vanilla, something sweet and syrupy, hint of spices and a nondescript floral. It sits very close to the skin from the very beginning, but it is very warm and inviting. Something to stave off the cold on a fall or winter night. Like the other Santa Maria Novellas I’ve tried, there’s a clean, slightly soapy undercurrent befitting of a house that evolved from an apothecary. It’s sensual without being sexed-up.

Tabacco Toscano was quite impressive. A tobacco perfume that most definitely smells like tobacco but isn’t overpowering or harsh in any way. This smells like a mellow amber, woody, tobacco that is gently sweetened and easily unisex. I find this perfume to sit somewhat close to the skin–it’s no sillage bomb like Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. But that’s what I like about it. Comfortable and familiar.
