To be clear, I do not get notes of sugar or frosting or cotton candy or marshmallow, no. This is closer to cake batter so yellow that it borders on lemon. You know that slight tang when you lick a cake battered finger. You will smell scrumptious and people will ask, “what smells so good?” It’s not particularly female. It almost also smells like a doll’s head. Like if the Strawberry shortcake gang had a girl in a yellow bonnet.
EDIT: Give it an hour and it changes into Trident Tropical Twist gum! Like, exactly. If you were blindfolded and pressed to guess what you were smelling, you’d say Trident Fruit Gum. I guess that’s the Apricot.

If you are wondering whether to get this…it is more of a popsicle style smell of a vanilla, with a plasticky orange sherbet vibe. Your mind needs to move from perfume-vanilla to a candy-like one. If you like candy-like, you will not be disappointed. However, if you are expecting something unlike a cake, I would not recommend this. I am giving away a holiday package of samples next month which includes a sample of this one, so if you are interested, message me and the first person who responds will be receiving a package.

I agree this smell like CSP Vanille Abricot, but it is lighter. I have repurchased VA over & over for years, & do prefer it over this. I was sent a sample of Montale’s Vanilla CAKE when I orfered this, & oh WORD! Love it! See my review for that one. All are lovely 🙂

@colabama, i am originally from eastern Europe, and under no circumstances do we ever write word Vanilla with a W. I did some research, and it seems that at one point there was a listing on ebay, from Russia that said Sweet Wanilla. It got removed by ebay, so it was most likely a fake. I would buy Montale from authorized sellers, rather than from ebay, as most come from Russia and you just can’t be sure what you’re getting.

HI,has anyone evr heard of Montale Sweet WANILLA? Or is that an alternate spelling for the Eastern European market? Thanks in advance for your info!

A vanilla sponge cake and peach body cream- sweet with some milky sharpness.

Yes, apricot and vanilla are here. It is very strong and as with all the other Montales I have tried, it behaves badly on my skin. Every single Montale I have sampled smells ok to start and then it is all downhill. I invariably end up feeling like I am in a public WC with a very agitated automatic air freshener dispenser. (I am sure it’s just me and my crazy nose.)

Gorgeous sweet vanilla. The apricot is lush . It’s a happy, sweet, girly, summer/springtime scent . Love it !!

At first it smells like sweet, but artificial vanilla, but a few minutes later it transforms into a sorta minty scent… I think it is the apricot, it is very strong. Later, a pure vanilla bean scent comes out.
Update: I think I’m having an allergic reaction to this perfume… my throat and nose started itching after sniffing it on my skin. I never had an allergic reaction to a perfume before so I thought I’d warn everyone that this fragrance might be a trigger. It would be advisable to get a sample of this first, not just because of the price but also a possible bad reaction.
Update 2: I still get the itchy feeling when I inhale too close to it, but it’s not so bad anymore and I’ve actually fallen in love with the scent, it is the sweetest, most sensual and most perfect vanilla scent. Also it’s extremely strong and long-lasting.
I am willing to deal with the bad reaction to it and I will buy a full bottle as soon as I have the money. I could go as far as to say that it’s the best perfume I’ve ever smelled as a sweet gourmand enthusiast.

By my nose, this is not a typical vanilla apricot combination. This a compounded vanilla-apricot molecule. The technique of compounding combines two or more molecules to make one bigger, heavier molecule out of them. It’s a very advanced, almost arcane knowledge in perfumery.
Based my perception of the fragrance, I would go so far as to say this formula is actually comprised of two compound molecules (one with vanilla at the head—and another with apricot at the head). The vanilla has a sweet cream tinge at the base of it, something like ice cream, so the presence of a synthetic is obvious to me. The apricot then has a sugary and floral nuance to it—naturally suggestive of the same thing.
They make the fragrance considerably enjoyable—adding both depth and character. Although I can’t say that it’s actually enjoyable to live up to the asking price (maybe if it were in the $30 range). Still, this is one of the more dignified releases from this house, that in the least doesn’t possess any negative qualities to it, so it isn’t unenjoyable in any way.

Delicious scent. Intense deep vanilla cream and juicy apricots. I love it but that’s because I love very sweet and/or gourmand scents. It is incredibly sweet. Steer clear if you don’t like bakery vanilla or sugary sweet scents. Drydown is similar to vanilla absolu. It has impressive sillage and longevity.

Sweet vanilla smells like Vanille fruitee by Molinard, but just not that cheap.

I mean, it’s nice…but it smells almost exactly like Vanille Absolu, except a dab of apricot extract was added to it. It’s most certainly a pleasant scent and it does last on the skin, but it wasn’t a wow factor for me personally. I can see where people say that this reminds them of Dulcis in Fundo, where Sweet Vanilla is slightly more refined yet toned down to my nose and DiF is stronger and has a blast of a citrus/marshmallow blend. I’ll definitely keep this bottle I bought, but not sure I’ll buy another once I run out. I only had this for a day so far so I’ll update.

I smell like a cupcake — the grocery store kind with the frosting that’s too sweet for some people and a bit oily. In the first clear moments there is a pronounced citrus note that starts smelling floral and fresh, and reading the notes I can clearly see that it’s apricot — fresh cut not canned. It’s impressive because some apricot notes go sour and yucky on my skin, but not this one. It hangs in the background behind the vanilla.
This has some teeth to it. The silage is strong enough that I got complements from people several feet away even though I’ve only daubed some on my wrist and neck. The longevity was about 20 hours! If I get the spray I’ll have to use it carefully, and I could see myself doing just that.

Yum-yum-yum!!! Lovely vanilla with apricot that dries down to a beautiful warm vanilla on my skin. Get stopped often when I wear this, or get comments about the fragrance. Purchased a full bottle, happy with the investment.

Sweet Vanilla and I have become well-acquainted over the last couple of weeks, I have been testing it most days. I was so excited to receive this because I love apricot and I’m also a fan of vanilla.
As soon as I saw the notes I was reminded of Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot. To me, this smells exactly VA but without the throat-closing musk note that I was quite sensitive too, although having said that there is a slight hint of smokiness/musk on the drydown of this but it is faint.
It is very linear and sweet (unsurprisingly, given only two notes). Pleasant, foody and quite comforting, but I have to be in the mood for it. In the same way you have to be in the mood for a sugary cupcake. It seems to wear quite close to the skin, I have to put my wrist up to my nose to get a whiff. Overall it is nice but doesn’t get me particularly excited. I will enjoy my sample but don’t think I’ll be springing for a FB.

I know I’m stating the obvious here, but this is sweet. Intensely sweet. Concentrated, bombastic sweetness. I can only spray once and even that has to be distributed to other body parts. I’m scared of anyone who actually gets through a full bottle of this in their lifetime. Mine will probably be a remnant of the Apocalypse, still 75% full.
Apricot and vanilla seem to shine equally for the first 2 hours or so, then it becomes a bit more sudued and maybe just a smidge woody. Longevity is…forever.
I actually like Sweet Vanilla a lot, but I need to be in the mood for intense sweetness which can be hard to stomach on warm days. I’ve seen some refer to it as a good summer vanilla, but for me it’s just too dense. My last wearing was on a humid, low/mid 80-degree day, and it near bout suffocated me.
Sweet Vanilla fits into the “cupcake vanilla” genre and thus smells totally feminine to my nose, but do you.
Edit: I decided to pass this on since I know I’m not going to wear it much. It’s a great scent, but I need something to temper the sweetness.

I’m so pleased that this apricot smells like apricot! I was concerned that it might be more like a light floral juicy peach, but no. This is slightly acidic like mandarine, not too tart, subtly rich, earthy and woody; a warm powdered musk way in the background and a hint of amber.
The virtue of the apricot balances the vanilla so well. I was prepared for something syrupy or like a vanilla cupcake, but am also pleasantly surprised with the dry woodiness of the vanilla.
Sweet Vanilla reminds me something of a frozen apricot yoghurt bar — fruity, earthy, sweet, tart, creamy, suitable for all seasons as it’s cozy yet relatively dry for a vanilla perfume. I just love the simplicity of this scent and may add it to my collection.

Indeed, this is similar to Duclus In Fundo as several other reviews state, which I was decanting earlier today strangely enough, BUT this one by Montale has no heliotrope in it and I’m so happy about that.

    Amazing!
I was kind of on the fence. It looked more feminine than unisex on paper. I decided to give it a try. I wore it to a long day on work. And.. behold!.. Many many compliments all day. People from across the room say “what smells so good here!”.
Most importantly, I was constantly and pleasantly smelling it all day (no olfactory fatigue for 15 hours day).
It’s strange ; it projects and fills the room but still light and pleasant, never cloying or choking! Yummy but not over sweet.
And in case you didn’t get it, I’m a man who digs monsters of masculinity like Antaeus, Interlude Man and Eau Sauvage Parfum. This is a change of mood in a comfy and subtle way.
One of my female coworkers who is easily sensitized by most men colognes expressed her admiration of this “vanilla with smokey undertone”! I guess she nailed it right on!
    Must try!

Pretty vanilla and apricot scent. Nice for ladies of all ages. I think this makes for a lovely summer scent. The longevity is great and the silage is moderate. My co-worker commented that I smelled nice and that my fragrance was ‘faint but noticeable’.

This is excellent, the most realistic and pleasant apricot I’ve ever smelled. I also loved Dulcis in Fundo, I have to compare both.
EDIT: I just smelled Dulcis in Fundo again today. I think i prefer DiF, it is more elegant. But both are great.

This smells so much as Dulcis in Fundo but much more refined ! I like it very much !

Not bad, not bad at all. As a lover of vanilla, it can be easy to harshly criticize something not up to the high standards set by Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, for example, and although I’m not usually a fan of apricot, Montale Sweet Vanilla pulls off the vanilla/apricot pairing pretty well, all things considered. This could prove a pleasant departure from the norm for many vanilla fans, as I’m not aware of this note duo in any other vanilla fragrances, off the top of my head.
This could work for vanilla lovers and non-vanilla lovers alike, as it’s a strong enough vanilla yet deviant enough from standard vanilla scents. As usual, it entails Montale’s signature strong performance, so at a discounted $105 for 100ml (on Beautyspin), it’s not a bad deal if it’s your type of vanilla. I don’t quite like it enough to add to my already extensive list of vanilla fragrances, but it is nice to try.

Update: The sillage and longevity have improved, and this is just a gorgeous scent. Woman or man. You literally smell edible like an orange creamsicle, someone may lick you when they smell this on you. It is so spot on that people are not going to think you are wearing a fragrance, but rather have a melted orange creamsicle somewhere within your reach. Just put a wooden popsicle stick in your mouth, and they won’t know the difference. Blind buy this. What you imagine it smells like, it actually smells like. Delectable.

Just got this in the mail. Smell is spot on orange Creamsicle right out of the freezer. Gorgeous fragrance. Extremely dense and creamy.
The problem: Does not project. Skin scent almost immediately. For intimate close encounters only. If you want people to actually smell you spend a little more and by profumum roma dulcis un fundo. I may be selling this. Top 3 best smelling fragrances I own but after 15 minutes I can’t even smell it unless I put my nose to my skin!!! Will swap for dulcis un fundo

This to me smells like a kids medicinal syrup of some sort. I get no ice cream or raspberry. I do smell the vanilla and the apricot but I prefer the CSP with its warmer vanilla and softer fruit. To be fair I have never liked anything from Montale so this is no surprise. Who knows maybe a chemistry thing. To each his own, now I can stop wondering and get rid of my sample.

Reminds me of montales vanille absolu mixed with something like dulcis in fundo or something. I like both scents though so thats a win for me.
At first its got a tangy sweet sorta fruityness thats covering the smokey vanilla. And then that dries down and you are left with vanille absolu, or maybe tihota indult. Im gonna have to wear indult and dulics in fundo again to rejog my memory…
Anyway simple scent not very complicated but I like these kinda fragrances so its a like for me. Probably hard to justify if you already own vanille absolu or dulcis in fundo or something but if you dont worth checking out.
Performance like many montales is good

I love this. It’s very similar to Comptoir Pacifique’s Vanilla Apricot, but a thousand times more refined. If you took the green elements out of Peau de Peche and added vanilla, this would be it. Claims to be unisex, but I don’t see a man getting away with this easily, it’s very feminine. I’m not nuts about the first ten minutes, it has a smoky, old lady vibe, but it dries down into a delicious milky apricot vanilla that lasts for hours, a rarity on my skin.
Has a Dulcis in Fundo vibe, but I prefer an apricot or peach note to an orange or citrusy one. Good stuff.

    Intensely tooth achingly sweet.
Like L’Aromarine Vanille sweet. The only difference is that this is magic on my skin smelling like a raspberry ripple ice cream even though I can’t see this note listed.
