Description

The new collection by Michael Kors, which includes not only fragrances, is launched in August 2013. A step towards beauty and care products will enable the modern woman to select new cosmetic products and Michal Kors make-up, besides various fragrant collections. Each of the three directions of the collection—Sporty, Sexy or Glam, will be complemented with special colors of make-up, various shades of nail polish; eye shadows and powder available in three shades accompany the sporty, sexy or glamorous look. The names of the new fragrances are Sporty Citrus, Amber Sexy and Jasmine Glam, and they are available in tall, glass flacons as 30, 50 and 100ml with a golden color stopper.

Sporty Citrus is the work of perfumer Honorine Blanc, who provided the fragrance with a sweet union of orange and mandarin along with scents of fresh orange blossom accompanied with musky trail.

The first burst of this fragrance smells really pungent and sharp. Once it settles down into the skin, it smells of synthetic oranges (if that’s even a thing) and soapy. Not my cup of tea.

I’m not sure if the sample i have is a fake or the real thing but this scent is non existent on me! There was a very faint citrus at the beginning and after 15 minutes, nothing! Thank goodness I only had a tiny sample.

I can’t believe how much this smells like Ange Ou Demon Le Secret on my skin. I wondered when I tried this on today why it smelled so familiar, and why I loved it so much!
At first it is quite green & citrusy, then calms down to a slightly (very slightly) masculine, fresh, herbaceous scent. Then an hour or so later it settles into a sexy, earthy citrus floral.
Don’t let the “masculine” description put you off if, like me, you’re not a fan of unisex fragrances. This is more a strong, confident woman rather than truly masculine.
    Mmm-mm-mmmmmm…

Got me by a wonderful surprise (I was actually looking for a lip gloss and found this scent in a rollerball duo bottle that has the perfume on one end, and the lip gloss on the other end). For $10, I thought it was worth buying the gloss.
And I was stunned by its scent. Who cared about the gloss anymore at that point? 😀
It is one of the most voluptuous, fluffy, soft, smooth, creamy and gently sweet orange bloom scent that I have ever come across. That was a great discovery to my nose and that was all I could smell from the fragrance (there might be also a little soft musky skin scent in the dry down). I did not experience any citrusy sharpness at all. So simple and so satisfying.
Of course, I was already very pleased with the scent and my head was still wrapped around it, I could easily ignore the fact that it was called “sporty citrus” (maybe “citrus” relates to being “sporty”!?!?). And I don’t think that it is “so masculine” or “more masculine”. However, I admit that the thought did come across in my mind, because orange blossom/orange/citrus can be found in many men’s fragrances as one of the most dominant notes. Perhaps, that explains the “masculine” sense here.
The vibe of orange blossom in this one does remind me a little bit of the same citrus/orange blossom style in the EDT Narciso Rodriguez For Her (the Black bottle) which I am also very fond of.
I ordered the biggest bottle of Sporty Citrus later on that same day!

Very sharp citrus and very little orange blossom. At times it does remind me of sporty men’s colognes. I definately get a strong turpentine note. The combition deoesnt suit me very well.

I really wanted to try this and with my chemistry, its usually completely opposite of what others smell. However, I got my sample of this yesterday and sprayed it on my wrist for my boyfriend to smell. His words: “Wear that if you want to get lucky (wink wink)” He loves the way it smells on me. I smell mostly orange blossoms with a hint of oranges and he said he smells a lot of the orange with a hint of the musk. I have added it to my wish list because I really liked the scent. I only wish it lasted longer on me. I used it at bedtime and when I woke up in the morning, I couldn’t smell it anymore.

Tried this again at the mall. lol Glad I didn’t buy it last time. I’ve gone off it now. It’s just too soapy. I don’t remember it being so soapy last time but the soapiness is kind of irritating after awhile. I think I will be buying more of Lancome’s Miracle instead of this now.

this perfume isn’t masculine at all.
    it is fierce and fearless.
so are the women for whom it was created.

  9. :

This isn’t what I expected. I expected more CKOne with a name like “Sporty Cirtus” or something like O de Lancome. It’s not like these. On me it it more feminine and actually sexy. The citrus at first is kind of weaky. Oddly then it blends into a lovely clean fresh musky dry down, that is stronger than the original citrus burst, and lasts quite a while. I want to buy it now after having it sprayed on me in the store. I didn’t buy it because I wanted to see how quickly the scent would disappear but the scent lasts and is warm, spicy and pretty. I want it, but can’t justify the purchase when I have a number of other scents at home.

Apparently “sporty” to Michael Kors translates into unisex. In looking at the notes and the name itself of the fragrance, one would think this would smell..citrusy. I get a citrus fresh scent for about the first 20 minutes, and then this morphes to a pine scent for me. I guess the “terpenic” accord translates into this being a pine scent for me, and a strong pine scent. I think this actually will be great for Fall and Winter. Just kind of funny that this seems exactly the opposite of what it is noted as.
I do not dislike this, as I do like some unisex frag’s; and this is kind of fun and..different. I might not have purchased this had I tested a bottle of this, but sometimes it is fun to step a little out of the box. Not a bad fragrance, just maybe not what was expected or described as. I would test this first if possible. Probably not a safe blind buy, unless you like (maybe) being surprised.
UPDATE: The notes according to the Nordstrom, Macy’s and Scentbird sites for this are:
Notes: mandarin, orange, pink pepper, orange flower, jasmine, patchouli, citrus, warm woods.
^^These notes seem much more accurate to me.

not at all sporty! but great fragrance with pretty good sillage and longevity. It is really chic, a bit chypre but with more citrusy notes. I used to wear it till my mom (who is 74) “found” it and took my bottle! well it smells on her great too (usually on women of that age perfumes tend to smell a bit weird) very fresh! it reminds me a lot of “Still” by J.Lo which is a favorite, but discontinued.

Nice clean sweet citrus blend. Nothing overpowering or artificial.

  14. :

    4 out of 5

My favorite out of the three Michael Kors collection perfume samples I got from Macy’s. I think it’s a misnomer: Sporty Citrus is not sporty but rather quite elegant and rich. I adore citrus scents and I use this as a special occasion fragrance; the orange/musk blend is very lovely and refined.

  15. :

    5 out of 5

Yes,,its a tad masculine ,,,and I love it! Very clean, with warm dry down.
Good blind buy at good price! Go me. 🙂
Whats terpenic though??? Good sillage and longevity also.

  16. :

I am surprised by the latest reviews!! This is lovely, soft citrus, feminine, summery and easy to wear,.I don’t like woodsy, and this is only so slightly woodsy to my nose..it has a clean fresh musky dry down, lovely!! I bought it for myself and my son’ S girlfriend, she needed something light for work, it fits the bill, there is nothing sporty about that scent but neither is it too perfumey!?

  17. :

    5 out of 5

I blind bought this today because usually I enjoy Marc Jacobs but oh my gosh this smells awful. So manly, it has major cedar notes and is downright awful.

  18. :

    3 out of 5

Masculine citrus. Sporty like Ralph Lauren does sporty. I prefer fresh or watery, no manly deodorant undertones thank you very much

  19. :

    3 out of 5

Love it. it is almost all orange on me, but firstly a spicy orange (think of when you peel the skin of an orange off) than a bitter orange. It is not a complicated scent but very sophisticated in light of the sea of sweet perfume popular in these few years.
Longevity and sillage is good. It does not strike me as ‘sporty’ though… I wear it to work.

  20. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve sprayed on me and I honestly thought that I’ve put a man fragrance by mistake. Definitely not my style but reading the positive reviews I’ll try one more time

  21. :

This is my favorite perfume from this line of perfumes.
It smells sporty indeed, it’s exactly citruses and orange blossom.
    Fresh, uplifting and very nice.

mostly, citrus vibe doesn’t last on my skin. i have many sporty fragrances in my collection unfortunately its doesn’t’ last. this one is better than other fragrances in my collection. mostly i wear it for casual and window shopping.

  23. :

I really took a loving to this one, I thought of the 3 the Sexy Amber was my fav. but after wearing this a bit it’s surpassed the Amber..This is really nice, clean refreshing, pretty much just citrus & musk. See a few people commenting it smells a lil masc. maybe that’s why I like it..It just smells so good! When I had it on though it kept reminding me of something then it hit me, I bought my mom Zen white heat edition, && it kind of favors that. Really happy I just randomly sprayed it on, now it’s one of my contenders for a new spring/summer scent. 😀

  24. :

UPDATE: I can smell it now – and I love it! This is fabulous for warm Arizona weather!
You know what’s scary? Anosmia! It’s like being completely numb. No matter how many coffee beans I sniff, or whether this is on a scent strip or my skin, I can’t distinguish what it smells like. I know there’s a scent there…it’s just hiding in that kind of musk that my nose simply cannot detect. So disappointing, because this sounds like something I’d really enjoy. I’ll keep trying this in stores, in hopes that one of these days I’ll have a “breakthrough”. I enjoy so many Michael Kors fragrances I hate being left out by this one.

  25. :

By far the best of the three. Almost leans towards cyphre. Sort of like a new and improved Britney Spears Believe. Super ladylike.

  26. :

I have a love/hate relationship with this perfume! The first time I smelled it, it reminded me of the very first “perfume” I had and it came with a Hawaiian Barbie! It was a scented balm and I loved it! I will never forget that first time a scent took me away and I couldn’t get enough! However the next time I put it on, a musky spice took over the citrus and it was not my beloved 1st Scent! Now this is like my bi-polar friend, where I never know which one is coming out to play. I haven’t figured it out, but the good thing about that musky scent that jumps out at times, is it’s a memoir of my late other mother (in law). So technically it’s a love/LOVE relationship!!! Should be called Spicy Citrus though for sure!

  27. :

Top notes: Walking into Goodyear or Freedom tires. Who doesn’t love the scent of fresh tires?
Middle notes: Pencil shavings. Not freshly sharpened pencils, but more like a pencil bag full of sharpened pencils.
Base note: Almost citrus, but more like tennis ball.
This is a very *interesting* perfume. It is definitely different than any citrus perfume out there, in the way that it is barely qualified as a citrus perfume. But there’s really not a perfume category called “tire shop” or “tennis ball”.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I love it! Although I dislike any citrus perfumes in general. This one is different, it has this thick, dark, deep, sexy and classy undertone which is amazing. This undertone is more prominent on me than the citrus itself! Hence, I find this fragrance more night/classy/sexy than day/sporty.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

I like this scent a lot! I don’t think that it smells masculine on me at all but of course it depends on each individuals’ body chemistry.
I wear this if I know that I’m only going to be out in the morning or during the day since it seems out of place at night with all the citrus.
I use it pretty often and have barely put a dent in the gigantic bottle. It lasts for a long time on me as well. If I fall asleep with out washing my body or hair, the scent is still noticeable in the morning.
    8.7/10 🙂

It’s not bad. Sweet, citrusy, and a little on the masculine side. Excellent staying power. Nothing groundbreaking but it gets the job done.

i love michael kors, and this citrus is strong, is great to wear for a day not night i guess.
and its match for the name sporty citrus.. a little masculine too.

  35. :

I’m not very happy with this perfume. It has no lasting power. It smells ok to start off with, nothing amazing but then adds insult to injury by just disappearing into nothing. What a waste. Not cheap either. Bleh.

  36. :

I tried this today for a second time, and was amazed by the little ambery darknes I got from it. This is not only sporty citrus , something way edgy is lurking underneath.
Don’t get put of by the flanker name , if you’re not sporty or dislike citruses.
    Go ahead try it !
It might appeal to you anyway.
Up on my wantlist it goes…
Update : Finally own this little piece hidden gem in a bottle !
I would almost say that if YSL Belle d’opium is nighttime for you…thia is a daytime Belle d’Opium.
Rich and warm citrus gold , rather than cold citrus silver..
    And I get a very SMALL vibe from Palazzo..ha – that’some perfume !

  37. :

    3 out of 5

I like Michael Kors fragrances and I actually do not mean this in a negative way at all but Sporty Citrus and Avon Imari Blossom smell the same. I was floored!

  38. :

    3 out of 5

I actually have a “hanker for this flanker!” 🙂 I really like this which knocked me over since I usually dislike soapy & citrus, so I couldn’t imagine them put together. All I could imagine was throwing a bunch of grapefruit and lemons into your washing machine in the middle of doing a load and that sounded utterly unappealing. There is something really groovy about this and I get a bit of a 1970’s Estee vibe coming through. It almost smells like a really fresh deodorant. Inoffensive, safe & just a nice smell.
Perfect for the office. I’m also pleasantly surprised at how little of the original notes come through which always makes a perfume that is piggy backing off of an original a bit more interesting.

  39. :

    5 out of 5

it is neither citrys nor sporty.very ordinary smell and low lasting power

  40. :

    4 out of 5

The name is a bit misleading – lucky I smelt it anyway. I don’t get much citrus, but it is still fresh – just more like gardenia/frangipani fresh. It lingers and is soooo yummy! I got this in a set with the body cream and can’t tell whether the cream is just the normal Michael Kors or this one but it’s super yummy too. Get your hands on this!

  41. :

smell like fresh laundry, i also think that is the best from this series,

  42. :

    3 out of 5

Wearing this…I wouldn’t have to tell people that I love citrus…my body chemistry would say it for me because the sillage from this was MONSTROUS. It would have been something I would have sprayed around when I was working in the E.R. What else can smell so clean and bright as lemon? I know others detect orange but all I projected was lemon. Body chemistry is unpredictable at best, hm?
I love lemonade, I love citrus, I love Micheal Kor’s cosmetics line. However, to spend $60+ to smell like I stuffed my face with a tray of fresh baked lemon bars before hitting the gym is not my idea of a good sports fragrance. Nor is it worth it for me to smell like a living, breathing can of Pledge.
Sorry but, not for me. Kudos to all who smell nice in it though!

  43. :

    5 out of 5

Believe it or not, I actually do like this one. It kinda reminds me of the Givenchy Dahlia L’eau, for some reason. Either way, I do like it, but I will not pay $98.oo USD or whatever it is.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

This one is not what I typically would go for, but I got it as a gift from someone dear. I believe I normally do not like neither sporty nor citrus, so I was afraid to test it for a while. I spent some time sniffing the bottle and trying to prepare myself for the worst – that I would not like it. Luckily, it didn’t happen. I like it and enjoy it. It is very wearable and easy likable. The name is misleading. I was expecting cold fresh generic smell. Luckily, to my nose, it is neither typicall sporty nor dominant citrus. It smells mostly orange blossom to me. There is definitelly citrus there, but not in a refreshing sporty way, but more in a warm and comforting feeling. I would call the perfume something about orange blossom and simple elegance. It is very soft and wearable for work. Normally, I dislike musk, but here I am completely comfortable with it, it is very soft and feels natural. There is some sweetness here, but not too much, and I like that. It is simple lovely skin scent. Sits close to skin. I like it more and more. Longevity may be better; it lasts on my skin for not more than 2-3 hours. I have also a body cream, and it smells very nice. By layering these two the longevity is acceptable.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

I am not one of those who get compliments about my perfumes on a daily basis. To be honest, it doesn’t happen that often. However, Sporty Citrus, is actually the one(apart from Amazing Grace) that people compliments me on quite often.
I love to smell nice and I love hearing it. So I tell them it is Sporty Citrus by Michel Kors. Like many others already have said, this name does not fit the perfume at all! It makes me think of a fresh showergel. But I saw the beautiful glassbottle and decided to (still)give it a try. I am glad I did.
I spritzed my wrist and had to go back to the store the next day to buy the perfume. I really fell in love with Orange Blossom. Beautiful scent. Not a citrus splitz-splash, but a soft, warm scent that actually stays on my skin quite a while. It is most often only noticed by someone who is sitting close to me.
If you are looking for a perfume that that can be smelled after you have left the room, this is not it. Don,t get me wrong. I love TM Angel. But most of the time I want to wear something more soft and feminine. And this is it: Sporty Citrus, IMO, the worst name ever, but at the moment, one of my absolute favourites.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

I like this one the least of all 3. Sexy Amber is my favorite, then Glam Jasmine. I couldn’t smell this one very much at all – to me it has weak sillage, and the top notes evaporated so quickly leaving a weak trail of citrusy musk behind. Not a horrible scent, just not really my thing.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

The best of 3 Michael Kors new fragrances. Very, very energetic, good to spray in the morning, for a happy day start. Oranges are very noticeable so if you like them, this scent is for you.

  48. :

    3 out of 5

I like citrusy scent and I was excited to try this. But this one disappointed me. I didn’t like it.
I like the Sexy Amber ONLY among the 3 MK samples that I got from Macy’s.

  49. :

    3 out of 5

This is a rather pretty, musky orange blossom fragrance on me. I don’t think the title “Sporty Citrus” is all that apt, and it actually made me hesitate to try it. It’s quite warm and feminine, not at all sporty to my perception.
Orange is definitely present, but it’s not obnoxious, sharp or cleanser smelling.

  50. :

    5 out of 5

I also had my interest caught from the scented store flyer and ordered it. It warms on my skin quickly and has a warm musky (in a good way) orange scent. It is not a dusty musk. Everything blends and smells wonderful. Sticks to the listed notes. I have had it on all day now and still smell it on my skin. I didn’t notice huge sillage but that’s fine with me. I’ve gotten wisps of it all day. A blind buy and a keeper. It reminds me in a way of a simpler orange version of Hermes Jour De Hermes with a tad more musk. Both are great scents!

  51. :

    3 out of 5

I am in love with this scent I smelled it in macys and want it sooooo bad

  52. :

    4 out of 5

I didn’t think I would like it because “sporty citrus” isn’t really my thing. But I gave it a shot and I actually really like it. It’s fresh and not too cleaner smelling because of the musk. If you’re attracted to sporty scents and are looking for more of a day and nighttime scent I’d go smell this.

  53. :

    4 out of 5

The name of the perfume is totally misleading! What a WRONG name for this warm-cold-spicy BEAUTY! It is very similar to Lalique Perles :O which I love and have in my collection.
    (great all year round scent).

  54. :

    5 out of 5

This the top notes of michel kors original…eek..nice for a guy…to much like aftershave…hated it.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

There is something unique about the first spray of this one. I’m liking it so far, and prefer this to the other two that I am reviewing now. The samples came in a threesome – so I’m trying all three at the same time to capture the flavor of what each one is like.
This goes on a bit softer than the other two.
I like the fruity-tropical smell, it is unique. I haven’t smelled anything like this before.
I can’t wait to see how this one wears. This is my favorite – so far (the early stages of spraying).
This has a full bodied chord, very similar to some of Estee Lauder’s traditional type fragrances. It reminds me a little bit of the original “White Linen”. This is much more fruity than White Linen, but it has a full bodied quality to it that smells like a full rich chord of ingredients.

  56. :

    4 out of 5

My favourite out of the three. It smells lovely, natural. Reminds me of flowers and citruses in a bit watered-down version. Opens up fresh and clean, warms on the skin within minutes.
It has a good balance between fresh and sweet.
Could definitely be my every day scent.
The only thing I dislike about Sporty Citrus is it’s name. Why call everything citrusy sporty? I find myself rather elegant, I do not pick up sporty clothes, while most of all I do love citrus scents.

  57. :

    4 out of 5

Now I got it and it smells divine. It so reminds me of Still by J.LO. Longlivity is quite good. Its perfect for every occasion. Dont think its that “sporty”. New Love!

  58. :

Something about this one reminds me of Stella by Stella McCartney.

Smelled this in a magazine and fell in love!! Very disappointed to find out this is only sold at Macy’s as very hard to get a better deal…Will have to get it at some point, though, as it’s the most wonderful scent I’ve discovered in a LONG time – and I do love my perfumes!!
Would have to agree, though, that the name doesn’t do it justice – it’s much, much nicer than a “sporty” scent (of which I have a number that I usually wear to the gym). This one is def. a very, very feminine, all day long type of fragrance! If anyone bought it and doesn’t like it, please contact me 🙂

I loved the smell of this in the macys circular..I was tempted to blind buy it..the bottle is very cute too..sprayed it on today and its very loud/too strong and gives me a headache…so now I’m sitting on the couch instead of being all sporty

  61. :

    4 out of 5

I tried the 3, and they are all nice! Sporty Citrus surprised me, it isnt a lemony outdoorsy scent. it is like a soft veil of a fresh scent, nicely done, feminine, fresh, easy to wear, uplifting. It is smooth, nice, I really think I might buy it! I dont find the lemon to be harsh, more a blend of citrus and musk, which produces a light interesting scent.

  62. :

    5 out of 5

I love this one! The sales lady at Macy’s convinced me to try it, and I’m glad I did. The name “Sporty” does not fit this fragrance. On my body chemistry, I get a lovely combination of orange blossoms and musk, which smells like soft spices mixed with warmth on my skin.

  63. :

just got this today…impulse buy. I hope I love it like the original Michael Kors!

  64. :

Smelled it at Macy’s, and it’s exactly what I thought it would be. Strong citrus with a bit of musk.
