Description

Viktor & Rolf present the male equivalent of the famous Flowerbomb fragrance (2005) and the second men’s fragrance after Antidote (2006) under the name of Spicebomb. The designer duo wanted to give men the fragrance that is Flowerbomb to women, bearing in mind that spices are for masculine scents what flower notes are for feminine.

Spicebomb comes out in January 2012 as an explosive and extrovert oriental – woody and spicy composition. Perfumer Olivier Polge blended spices with sensual undertones; creating two diametrically opposed fragrant accords: 1. the addictive and fiery one and 2. the explosive and icy one. The fiery accord contains notes of chili, saffron, leather, tobacco and vetiver. The explosive one includes bergamot, grapefruit, elemi and pink pepper.

Fabien Baron designed the bottle so it looks like a hand grenade, which “triggers” with the designer’s logo. The face of the campaign is a model Sean O’Pry, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

The fragrance is available as 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette with 200 ml shower gel and 100 ml after shave balm.

Huge cinnamon topnotes, smells like nothing so much as apple cider to start.
Pepper comes through strongly in the middle. Smells a great deal like Burberry London until the pepper starts.

It’s a good fragrance! It still holds a spot in anybody’s fragrance rotation, even if you do have Spicebomb Extreme.
It opens up as a nice warm spicy cinnamon which lasts throughout the life of the fragrance on your skin. It’s a nice fall/winter fragrance, but is completely out of place in the spring and summer. You’ll have a hard time wearing it in those seasons.
Longevity on my skin is around 5-6 hours.
Projection of 2 solid hours, and 3 to 4 hours if I moisturized properly.
If you don’t have the fund for this fragrance, you ought to try out Beverly Hills Polo Club Blaze. It can be found for a cheap price of $12.99
If, like me, you like to layer fragrances, you can actually layer Blaze and Spicebomb together, so this way, you can stretch your bottle of Spicebomb if it is your favorite Fall/winter fragrance, if you don’t want to cough up the money for another bottle of Spicebomb.
For being a fragrance with a limited time frame of wear, it’s very good, and could perhaps be one of the more necessary fragrances to own if just starting out a collection.

To my nose this smells very very identical to Bvlgari MIB , MIB it’s even more spicier …If you don’t wanna spend a lot of money check “MTV JAMMING”

I’ve always kept at least one bottle of good smelling cologne on hand, occasionally switching out scents for the seasons. I just wanted to be “the good smelling guy” for the ladies. I never took collecting cologne seriously. Then Spicebomb entered my life and completely changed the game for me. As I entered my late 30’s and my style began to change, my music choices matured and I began to leave childish things behind — Spicebomb represented where I was in life and the man I was becoming. For me, this scent is absolutely amazing! The blast of citrus accords accompanied by pink pepper and cinnamon on the opening spray are so invigorating; and a beautiful dry down with leather and tobacco are so well balanced with the citrus, it’s simply a brilliant fragrance! A girl once told me I smelled like roses and leather (which I thought was a good interpretation). During the winter, Spicebomb makes me want to put on my best denim jeans, a nice wool sweater and a pair of Red Wing boots. I let my beard stubble grow out just a little longer and I drink strong black coffee with no sweetener because Spicebomb is a mans game. If you wear Spicebomb and others aren’t wanting to cuddle with you, you’ll definitely want to make love to yourself over and over again. This is a perfect 10/10 fall and winter fragrance.

with a nutmeg it would be much better, qith time it lost spiceness and the only thing that i can smell is cinnamon.

Love this sweet spice.. Sillage and longevity is good.. Unfortunately the projection is about 2 hours top, 2 feet max..
I have tried 2012 batch, 2013 batch those 2 are vintage… 2015 until now is reformulated.. Not much different with SPL..

fun fact: I could not find this at the Frankfurt airport and the girl in the duty free shop told me that it has been banned because of the bottles’ shape.

The day was one of those when it was no longer Winter, but the cool morning air came in through the few forgotten buttons loosened on my clothes.
I left my hotel in “Rue de Rivoli” and strolled towards the Concorde without any precise destination in my mind, only to enter in the “Jardin des Tuileries” probably atracted by the freezing wind and the burst of the garden light that succeded to the somber sidewalks from the “Rue de Rivoli” bordering the Louvre.
While the cold was getting into my clothes, I was patiently losing my warmth while a citrus and red pepper scent was spreading around me.
Two pesky little girls played and jumped around my seat. “¿A qué estás oliendo?” One of them asked without shame. And then she added, “¡Usted esta oliendo mejor que mi papá!”.
Slowly, as if carrying the splendor of the Louvre square on my back, I began to walk again, crossing the garden towards “Rue de Rivoli” and planning a breakfast in “Les salons de thé de la maison Angelina.” I longed to prolong my spicy, greedy fragrance with the dazzling scent of Angeline’s magnificent delicacies.
How nice it is to be in the Tuileries at nine o’clock in the morning and wearing Spicebomb …
Let’s confirm my opinion with the Spicebomb math:
Scent Opening: 9.5 (my judgement; 1/2 point taken for the initial alchool burst)
Scent Dry Down: 10.0 (my judgement)
Longevity: 8.0 (8 hours with three sprays)
Sillage: 8.0 (8 feet projection at its peak, with 3 sprays)
Uniqueness: 8.0 (I praize Man in Black as much as I praize Spicebomb. They are very similar but not really a clone of each other. Some reviewers claim that fragrances like Insurrection II Dark, 1899 or Spicebomb flankers are very much alike. Well, I do opinate that there is a visible amount of individuality in each of them)
    Compliments: 9.5 (It’s a serious compliment grabber)
Wearability: 7.5 (Use it day or night during Winter and Fall; You may experiment it as well in Spring colder days and nights)
Versatility: 7.0 (Don’t abuse of it as a day scent. Don’t use it in the office. Avoid using it in beach, sunny events and workout.)
    Quality: 9.5 (my judgement)
Presentation: 7.5 (imaginative flask although I don’t apreciate it very much)
    Price: 7.0 (90 ml tester for € 46 + shipping)
    Overall rating: 8.32/10.00
    – between 7 and 8 =above average;
    – between 8 and 9 = recomended;
    – bigger than 9 = don’t miss it;
I recommend every men to use this fragrance in Paris and in a million of other places.

It’s like a common denominator for Pure Havane and Man In Black, both of which seem to have more character. Like, but not love. It is pleasant, but also quite generic and abstract.

  11. :

    5 out of 5

My best smelling scent. Look at my list to compare.
Projects more than enough. Longevite 8 hours+
Yes it is the reformulated one!

Had it in my shelf and forgot about it and recently rediscovered it! Initially when I first bought it I was unimpressed and that’s why it was stored forgotten.
This is now amazing! I have to say it is very similar to Bvlgari Man in Black! I would almost find them difficult to distinguish, so it would be redundant if you already own Bvlgari, or vice versa.
It is sweet, spicy and sensual. Sexy perfume that would be perfect for dates, nights out etc but also OK for work during the colder months.
    Scent: 8/10
    Sillage: 7/10
    Longevity: 7/10

I bought an original bottle during a sale offer…it was so cheap (around 45euros for 90ml) Adding it to my collection was my main purpose..but WOW it smells so good, so warm, spicy, fruity…This juice strongly reminds me Burberry London for Men with an adding of spice and a longer projection. It is perfect for cold weather but honestly I couldn’t wait for winter season and I’ve started wearing it in August…during hot Italian summer. It is a compliment getter too, indeed one of my favorite perfume that I love to wear!

  14. :

My go to winter perfume. Love the long-lasting (a bit like 1 million) note. IMO, its a great everyday perfume.

tom ford tobacco vanille is more good! totally different… it is a tobacco vanille bomb! love it! spicebomb doesn’t have tonka or vanilla.. tobacco inside is confused with cinnamon… the opening is good but after 2 minutes change in a cinnamon side and lost all spices/freshness… banal. The extreme version is paradisiac!

  16. :

I haven’t tried this fragrance yet but did this resemble tom ford tobacco vanille or amouage interlude???

Spicebomb is died! the reformulated version lost the spices!

Spice Bomb is the most interesting different smelling fragrance I’ve ever tried. When you first sniff it, you’ll usually react like “WOW!, this is very unique”. Well, that was my response. Warning! Don’t wear it in warmer weather because it’s just too overbearing and cloying. It has a leather spicy note to it. I bought it the first month it was released years ago. I bought two or three bottles since. It was great for me when it was new to my nose, but eventually you’ll outgrow the smell like anything else. For me, it was great for the time because people would ask “What is that?” and “I like that”. If you live in a colder environment like say North Dakota, this may be a signature scent. Otherwise, stay away is my best advice. check me out on utube Forever Neil

My dad owned this fragrance. I tested it, ended up liking it.
To me, the best part of this fragrance is its dry down, which is long lasting. Best for night situation, especially during cold weather.
Smells great, performs great, people loves it too

Absolutely adore this fragrance. Picking my brother up from the train, after work, I’d always get a whiff of this magnificent scent. He did not reapply and I dropped him off in the morning at 6:30. Spicy, sweet goodness. 10/10 in all aspects and blindbuy worthy if you like the listed notes.

I have a 10ML decant of Spicebomb.. Honestly it’s it’s a nice scent, however it’s not mind blowing.. I’m on the fence of buying a full bottle.. would be a cool bottle to have in my collection..

I have all the series of spicebomb which are original, extreme and fraiche. But for me original is the best..my batch is 2015. Great longevity which is pass 8 hours and project beastly. I love the soft note here rather than extreme. But every series of spicebomb for me is unique even basically they all have original DNA. One of the best in my collection.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

Very nice frag, nice smell, decent longevity and projection! Just don’t get one thing when it comes to projection. How can somebody say, yeah, you can smell it from a distance, no matter how close or far? Do they actually stop every person and ask them from how far they can smell the perfume and get the ruler and measure it, don’t think so. It is all subjective.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

Got my 2017 batch for cheap yet it’s a waste of my money. Even 12 sprays dissipates within a couple hours on my skin.
I still have half juice of the 2012 batch. 4-5 hours projection and 8-9 hours of longevity. The differences in performance between the vintage and newer batches are mind boggling.
Bought 2 bottles of the 2016 Extreme version instead.

  27. :

    4 out of 5

Not my kind of fragrance. Way too bubblegummy sweet, and I don’t know where that comes from considering the notes. People say that’s the cinnamon but honestly I don’t get any cinnamon aroma, just it’s sweetness.
To me this smells like a synthetic mess and quite generic, the notes are not identifiable at all and everything is covered by the persistent sweetness.
If you want spices that will really get you hungry and full at the same time (that’s what real spices do isn’t it?), give a go to Bvlgari Man In Black. That kills and buries this under 30 meters of soil, at least according to my taste.
Oh, and excuse me but where do you smell the leather in this? I’ve got it on my right arm and Acqua di Parma Colonia Leather on my left arm… Useless to say which is the only side where I can actually smell some leather.

Heaven in a grenade bottle. Simply one of the best mens scents ever created.
    Scent 10
    Sillage 8
    Longevity 7.5
    Quality 9.5
With its price tag, I’d imagine some of these reviewers have gotten fake bottles. Longevity is a champ if you’ve bought authentic Spicebomb. The cinnamon, pink pepper and tobacco are blended so incredibly well they should give Viktor & Rolf the Nobel Peace prize cause women will want to have sex with you when they smell this rather than fight or argue.

More like powerbomb!!! Masculinity in a bottle. Great leather jacket frag. Olivier Polge is a rockstar!!! Definitely in my top 4 perfumers. I absolutely love this fragrance, it performs like a beast and demands attention. I get lots of compliments with it, even though it’s mainstream and popular. I will always have a bottle of this on hand.

A browny leathery scent. Use anytime except summer days, it may come in too heavy.

  31. :

To me, spicebomb smells like those wood shavings you get for the cages of Hamsters, Guinea Pigs, etc. covered with cinnamon and spices. I think it’s pretty nice overall but that wood shavings smell kind of weirds me out a little bit. I find that the extreme version of spicebomb does not have this wood shavings vibe to it and is overall much smoother and more refined. Therefore I prefer it over the original.
Also, Bvlgari Man In Black is way cheaper than this and in my opinion actually smells a bit better. It’s a bit drier and is less abrasive than spicebomb.

The day was one of those when it was no longer Winter, but the cool morning air came in through the few forgotten buttons loosened on my clothes.

While the cold was getting into my clothes, I was patiently losing my warmth while a citrus and red pepper scent was spreading around me.
Strolling through the park, Paris sprinkled moist generously, consequence of night dew that was formed during the icy night. Around me the air was impregnated by the exotic aroma of acrid and sweet spices, as well as by a damp, moist alluring tobacco scent. Women dressed in black passed fleetingly on the streets looking at me lightly. Yes, they seemed to look at me, but in reality they looked through me for the cinnamon and the red pepper wave that hanged in the air.
Slowly the aroma became more sweet and seductive. The scent did not really matched neither my “Caterpillar” boots, nor my loose jeans and leather jacket, nor even the broken scarf around my neck. Fearless pigeons fluttered about me as if there were crumbs of cinnamon cake around to fill their gizzards… stupid birds… they really do not know what a perfume is.
Next to the Louvre the tourists were lazily sitting, not aware of the time, contemplating the glass pyramid. From time to time they were distracted by a lingering imaginary scent of “gaufrettes” with cinnamon and sugar. The scent of cinnamon mingled with that of soft leather, led for them to stare at my jacket as if it was clearly the culprit for the pyramidal admiration interruption… well it probably was…
I also sat down because I kept my eyes fixed on the pyramid regal majesty, statically pointing to the blue sky. I continued amusingly and lazily sitting on the stone bench and staring at the pedestrian traffic around me. My attention turned to the near passing-by ones. They sought the source of the alluring smell of sweet tobacco, or yummy cinnamon candies, or perhaps even from and spicy sugar snacks. Invariably, the stares stopped at me and then they continued on their way. A pretty brunette turned back twice as if to confirm something in me… She gave me a look that seemed as she knew me and then continued toward the “Arc du Carrousel”.
Two pesky little girls played and jumped around my seat. “¿A qué estás oliendo?” One of them asked without shame. And then she added, “¡Usted esta oliendo mejor que mi papá!”.
Slowly, as if carrying the splendor of the square on my back, I began to walk again, crossing the garden towards “Rue de Rivoli” and planning a breakfast in “Les salons de thé de la maison Angelina.” I longed to prolong my spicy, greedy fragrance with the dazzling scent of Angeline’s magnificent delicacies.

I have found Spicebomb a very sexy, warm, energetic, inviting and intimate fragrance for men. There is something very “characteristic” about it, to make such a solid signature statement. Cinnamon, pepper, paprika, leather and tobacco notes determine the masculine “seduction” while bergamot and grapefruit…complete the “strength” of a gentleman. The ratio and balance between the notes work out so well in this composition.
It always makes me weak in the knees and wanting for more, anytime I smell it on my husband 🙂

    what a great warm fragrance.
    it smells delicious.
but i could only picture wearing on one occasion.
imagine driving through the rolling country side.
its autumn, it’s overcast and misty.
you come to a well kept village with wood cottages.
its time for afternoon tea. there is a a bake house.
made of logs with polished wooden floors and timber beams.
the fire in the side wall is crackling and warm.
and the kitchen over flows with cinnamon from all the pastries in the oven.
stay inside where it is warm and sweet.
funny how the marketing and bottle are complete opposites to where this takes me

Not sure if I have an older batch, if I don’t know what I’m missing from the newer one I purchased in the last six months, or if I just disagree with a lot of the reviews here.
This is really an amazing scent, with a very appropriate name. Like a leather jacket with pipe tobacco in the pocket was dropped in a mixing vat at a gingerbread factory. This was an immediate no brainer for me after the first time I tried it.
Definitely more of a nighttime and fall/winter vibe than a warm, sunny day fragrance, but other than climate, I think this could definitely be an all-ages and even a unisex scent. Sweet, spicy and warm.
Decent performance/longevity…usually lasts about 6-8 hours on me.
Really good stuff. Just got a bottle of the Extreme EDP; early impression is that it’s as good or better than this one.

One of my favorite fragrances of all time.At first I smelled this before and thought it was alright, I took a couple more wiffs of this at Sephora and it started to grow on me. It has a cozy warm cinnamon vibe to it that I really like, perfect for chilly fall days and winter. At the opening I get a blast of bergamot and grapefruit, then I get cinnamon in the dry down, and leather and Tabacco which gives it a very masculine edge. Lasted 2 days on one of my sweaters wich is awesome. Sillage is alright
    imo
Overall I would give this fragrance a 9/10.

It is not the same with the vintage batches, current productions are watered down that its lasting power / longevity is reduced and sillage is gone. Hope frag companies retain the original formulations even if it needs to increase the selling price it is understandable if the quality is there… BUT please don’t sell us sh#t !

    It’s solid balsamic scent,
but there is some very manly accord which is ruining the heart of the fragrance for me, it gives retro mature vibe.
Good thing is that it reminds of Burberry London, which I love.
    Longevity is not so strong.

Something about this makes me feel a bit ill. I’m writing this review because someone on the bus is wearing it and I recognised it immediately. It’s blaring and grating.
Bulgari Man in Black is a much better interpretation of the spicy tobacco thing in my opinion.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

Warm sweet spicy citrus. Not dessert-like. Masculine but does not rely on tropes. Different by cologne standards but still not edgy enough to be alluring IMO. On me, it smells a little like a Costco or BJ’s bulk store. I blame the Elemi and Leather combination. Something about it reminds me of cardboard, plastic wrap, and new lawn furniture. Probably changes a lot based on your skin chemistry. Pass.

This really is about spices. Quite strong cinnamon. Feels like something very exotic, like Indian markets. Also it is sweet, but not too much. Man for who I purchased sample didn’t like it and I must agree that this perfume is specific. As a woman I liked it on him, thou. Men who wear it should do that in correct weather, event and match style with this perfume. From distance smells like someone have been baked cinnamon rolls, but closer it’s clear that it’s more as a manly scent. It will make turn heads because it is something not like most other perfumes. Most probably not for hot summer.

I must say I owe this scent a deep apology. I thought I had tested this a couple of years ago, and it was so over the top I just put it out of my mind. I only really remember curling my nose and thinking “that’s well named…”
On a whim I was passing a tester yesterday and it’s almost as if I heard a whisper from the Gods of Perfumery deep in mu subconscious, because my conscious mind had long ago dismissed it.
I can only conclude that what I’d sampled back then must have been the Extreme version, because what I sampled yesterday was sublime, strong in its performance yet subtle in its delivery
I’ll revisit this once I wear it in full, but I owed it to Olivier to correct any prior slander I might have uttered against this gorgeous creation.

  48. :

I’m a woman and like this scent for myself. While wearing it today, it was reminding me of another fragrance. After wearing this for an hour or two, it reminds me vaguely of Madonna’s Truth or Dare. It has a similar creamy note. Now, this might turn some people away from this scent as that is a woman’s fragrance – but the creamy note is nice.

Great for cold months. Pairs great with a warm sweater, going to a coffee shop, or just doing errands. Spray this on and drive to work, you’ll smell this the whole way and you will feel as warm as if you had a seat warmer on.
Night and Day this works well with projections of 7+ hours, an absolute beast in the compliment department.

A killer winter fragrance. It’s a strong, masculine, elegant scent. The pepper from the opening is a little much for me but the dry down is beautiful. The pepper is still prominent but I also get strong vanilla, tobacco, leather & cinnamon.
Longevity and projection are great. I’ve gotten compliments almost every time I’ve worn it, even from people standing a few feet from me after 3+ hours of applying.
    Scent: 8.5/10
    Performance: 9/10

Cosy, but nothing outstanding. It’s good for comforting during grey, cold winter days. Gotta admit, the drydown is as good as the opening which nowadays isn’t so obvious. A decent spice frag.

I know this is a men’s cologne but I purchased it for myself because I just LOVE the warm, spiciness in this bottle!
The lasting power was okay, it wafts out from my clothes and I’m in heaven!
I get the warm cinnamon, the pink pepper gives it a bite and the sweet tobacco of course, is so smooth.
However, The first spray smells amazing but because of my body chemistry, it turns into a dryer sheet type of powdery smell.
It’s kind of disappointing, but my boyfriend wears it so I’m still content.

    @kylesega2000
TRY Bulgari Man In Black edp. Very similar to Spicebomb, only deeper and honestly better.

Will look in to alternative inspirations of this once unique classic fragrance as I will with all of my favorite reformulated fragrances… (212Men, Versace Man, 1 Million etc)
Would have more respect for fragrance houses if they just discontinued fragrances they basicly reformulate into water than just blatantly trying to rip us off with inferior watered down perfume.

Great! Simply Great!I Love this thing!I’m wearing it these days and I’m loving it! If you want something not mainstream, not in your face, but still interesting, seductive in a gorgeous way and you need to put yourself in comfortable situation, just pull this one out and you will appreciate that pleasant smell and you will going to feel immediately better! This fragrance is not one of those which are created to beat the others smells in the environment by killing the whole vibe… This one is created for personalities which like to feel special and express their self in a different way!

One of the few reformulated fragrances I prefer over the pre-reform versions… The 2012 version was too spicy to my nose, with a medicinal clove note I couldn’t bear, that gave me instant headaches.
The reformulation seems smoother, creamier to my nose, with less spices but more sugary sweet and I find that the performances are pretty similar than it has always been.

Longevity is not so good, about 3 hours it will be completely gone. Plus, I dont know why, but it smells so old to me, probably because of tobacco. If youre less than 25 years old, I dont think you should wear this.

Wearing this beautiful fragrance today. Paid for a vintage bottle. Glad I purchase old formulation than the new. Old formulation richer, bold, exquisite and long lasting. Love this scent

Finally i bought myself this beautiful gem of a fragrance, after i sniff it so many times on sephora/douglas stores. What can i say, it’s such a beautiful cozy, worm and sweet fragrance. You should try it out if you haven’t already! Very good longevity and projection on my skin. It’s a must have fragrance in every men’s collection.

I bought 2016 version of this fragrance. And although it smells unique and fantastic, the performance is bellow average, to put it lightly. After 2 hours it becomes skin sent, which is disappointing to say the least. After 5 hours, I can barely smell it on me.
Although I love the smell, I will not buy a 2nd bottle when I finish with this one.

This is a good and unique cologne. But, to me, it doesn’t really smell “cologny,” just more a bunch of spice scents mixed together. Add a little cinnamon, they could put it on a Christmas tree

I just found out I got the pre-formulated version.
I’ll wear it tomorrow and see how it performs

Spicy leather. Very nice – and very sweet – fragrance of spices, fruit, and florals over a smooth leather/ tobacco/ vetiver base. Oriental-ish gourmand. Likeable enough if not particularly interesting and easily unisex. However, I was shocked at how expensive this was despite the fact that it’s basically a male celebuscent. I like it well enough but it’s not worth the money in my opinion.

Citrussy/spicy opening of bergamot and pink pepper was a real blast underlined with some cinnamon warmth.
The drydown gets probably even better when the still prominent cinnamon settles and cuddles with tobacco and vetiver on a leather couch. The scent gets moderate sweetness after a couple of hours.
Overall in a way it reminds me of Le Male – must be the prominent cinnamon. But Spicebomb is like darker brother of Le Male that is rougher and likes to spend time with cigar in his hand dressed in his leather jacket. Le Male is more gourmandish with vanilla and fresher with mint, think it has more depth as a fragrance itself. But that’s fine – although I see these as brothers, they are both different not be redundant when owning both.
This is raw, masculine, dirty – yet still elegant – and that in my eyes also means sexy.
    To me 9/10.

Just a meh fragrance IMO. My boyfriend wore a sample I got him a few times lately and we both decided it is not so etching either if us would likely buy. There are better tobacco scents and better male gourmands. You’d expect it to be a bit more spicy. No clove or cumin to my nose.
The joke with us is, when you get diarrhea after eating spicy Indian food, he calls that a ” spicebomb”. It certainly isn’t THAT bad, lol.

Ordered this one thinking I would like it now that the weather is good and cold. I did like it! But..BUT my wife hated this. She likes to wear my colognes and she sprayed it on herself not knowing what it would smell like. She said it ruined her day because she had to smell like it all day at work lol. But then again she is a woman so who knows what they like.
I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. Not as bad as my wife was acting.

I used to think this fragrance was “alright smelling”, but then one time I over sprayed a bit (5 sprays over my body), and it became cloying to the point where I literally threw up. That experience ruined this scent for me because now when I
