Description

The house of Dsquared2 has presented three fragrances so far; their first perfume He Wood from 2007 and its version for women She Wood in 2008. The third fragrance that celebrates and connects wood, fashion and creations of Dsquared is He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood, which has been released recently, inspired by Canadian mountains and dedicated to nature fans. This fragrance belongs to the Dsquared Nature Always Wins collection, which is now joined by a new edition for women, She Wood Velvet Forest Wood.

The name suggests dynamics of perfume composition. The fragrance is as mystical and playful as a forest fairy, leaving an impression of a true adventure in the nature surrounded with Canadian mountain peaks.

Dean and Dan Caten dedicate this fragrance to a woman living and breathing in rhythm of nature. Building this composition was based on choosing notes which would leave a natural, smooth and mystical trail on the skin. The scent of green forest and flowers develops playfully and harmonically on three levels. The fragrance is constructed as green-floral-woody and includes aromas of violet leaf and musk, which are in charge of femininity; warmth and mysteriousness are accentuated by galbanum, relaxing and fresh notes are introduced by pine needles and green leaves, while a base hides ambergris, vetiver and patchouli.

Dsquared2 She Wood Velvet Forest Wood is available as an EDT, in a flacon with the same form as its antecedent, decorated with wood. Its outer carton is coloured in beige, with copper-pink name of the brand and perfume, in tune with stopper of the new flacon.
She Wood Velvet Forest Wood was launched in 2009. She Wood Velvet Forest Wood was created by Daphne Bugey and Alberto Morillas.

This is such an uplifting, cooling, airy scent. It is quite grass-like at its opening. Fresh, almost like celery or cucumber but then the pine comes through. In its dry-down, I detect the slightest, sweet amber and it grounds it just enough that it feels rounded.
Green is absolutely what this scent is – like walking through dew covered grass on a brisk, misty morning right as the sun is coming up.
    It’s a beautiful mid-summer scent.

Thanks to ellina1984 for specifying a fragrance this d.squared might be similar to in the fry down.
I for one really appreciate when people add in their reviews similar scents especially not just niche or specialty fragrances
    Really helpful thanks
Haven’t tried this perfume but the line intrigues me. We don’t have it in stores that I’ve seen, at least not the general dept stores.

Thanks to Veda and her generosity, I’m now a proud owner of this beautiful contemporary take on violets, cedar and musk. I can also detect vetiver in the drydown. I can’t agree with the classification of it as an example of an aquatic perfume, to me it falls more into the floral woody musk group. True the cedar and vetiver notes give a fresh slightly earthy effect to it, but not to the point of feeling it as aquatic. Perfect spring violet and green perfume, delicate but not sweet. Unisex under my standards. It is the closest I own to the violet flowerpot I treasure in my balcony which gives the tiniest flowers with the most beautiful fragrance. You must get your nose close to them to get their aroma in all its full glory, and indeed the leaves and soil are there to be smelt inevitably together with them. I love it. Thank you again, dear Veda 🙂

Wore it twice and both times it was slightly different. The first time was all pine and cedar, kinda also spicy, but not in the edible spice sort of way, but spicy in a resin-y way. The second time around it was almost powdery sweet when smelled from close by (almost as if they had used sweet violet instead of violet leaf), but held further away…oh the green notes were definitely predominant! There was still the sharpness from the resin.
The scent definitely takes me to northern Europe, not yet frozen cold, but getting there…like mid fall maybe. Like one is taking a pensive walk through the forest absent-mindedly breaking pine needles, fingers a little green from the pine needle residue with some clumps of wild violets still sticking around from summer.
The bottle is equally amazing. Mine arrived with the copper cap a little ‘oxidised’. Just adds to the character of the perfume. A little patina. The assembly is barely seen in the bottle, which makes the combination of glass, wood and copper so natural and Zen!
I don’t see this as my signature perfume, but it’s a piece of quiet woodland that I want to retreat to when overwhelmed by my other personality heavy perfumes.

I’ve been having some serious coniferous cravings lately and that’s why I decided to blind buy Velvet Forest Wood when I spotted a good deal.
At first it seemed very nice: wood with a tinge of floralcy and the conifers are definitely there! Acceptable lasting power and a polite, yet noticeable projection… Unfortunately it’s a bit too “temperamental” on me; it can suddenly turn from being really enjoyable into something very sharp and almost urine-like. On my skin that change can occur multiple times during a wearing and it ruins this one for me. I really wanted to like this and when it “behaves well” I certainly do, but… I suppose this is once again a skin chemistry issue.
My bottle of VFW found a new home. By the way, the bottle seems really cool in the pictures and it looks allright in person also, but it gives a slightly flimsy and unfinished impression (the part resembling wood moved and therefore had to be readjusted every time the cap was removed and the “base” of the sprayer was slanted).

Very green and some kind of bright scent on me. I can pick pine soon after spraying but it’s not sharp or stingy, more like clean and soft short moment near fresh pine. After that I can’t pick all the notes. But overall this is very green and clean, fresh and light. Woody but with something sweet added to dry wood. Nice and not disturbing but still different than many others.
Sillage is soft and it doesn’t last long. Soft and light for an edp.

I loved the original She Wood, but something in this version makes me naseous. The green notes I suppose are the culprit, because here they are distinctivly artificial and sickly sweet. The pine also adds a bit of roughness but it’s all wrong.

    3 out of 5

I am so surprised there is no violet in the pyramid, because I can smell violets very distinctly, as in the basic Shewood. So that’s the similarity to the basic edition. However, Velvet Forest is greener, and the pine is very prominent in the opening. It really does bring to mind walking in a wooded area in the cold. It’s also powdery and has a clean aura, so I think this would work very well as an office scent.
It could also be unisex, as it is not sweet and the pine note is traditionally associated with men’s scents.
Overall, a good scent to have in a wardrobe, as it can work in a professional setting, but also as a leisure fragrance.
UPDATE: The drydown reminds me a lot of the drydown of Prada Infusion d’ Iris.

Simply: I love it!!! <3<3<3 For once a fragrance that really is what it’s Supposed to be. I get the pine and cedar strong, and I loooove it 🙂 I really recommend this if you like woody notes! It’s like like fresh pine forest in a Bottle.

A lovely forest scent, woody, green and a little decay as mentioned by the previous reviewer. It is truly a nice scent but the longevity isn’t brilliant. In saying that, the cute little bottle is easily carried around for top ups throughout the day. It smells like a damp forest to me, aquatic with a Christmas pine vibe going on, very much a green, woody floral with a fresh violet wafting in and out.

  12. :

    3 out of 5

A wooded glade in spring dotted with pockets of Violets.I detect a slightly rotten note symbolic of the natural decay and recycling of the forest ecosystem. Then the Pine and Cedar rises to the fore and this perfume smells like Christmas. All too soon this perfume becomes a skin scent and ephemeral.
The bottle while looking lovely is flimsy and cheap to the touch and the cap is annoyingly difficult to remove.
That said this is a very ‘festive’scent and is quite lovely for the time it lasts.

  13. :

    5 out of 5

Most realistic green scent I have ever smelled. It literally smells like a green field or a fresh juicy stem of a weed broken in two. It’s the way you would smell after rolling around in a wild, unattended field as a kid, with a dandelion crow on on your head nails and hands stained with grass, green juice and soil.
Unfortunately this amazing green phase lasts only 10 minutes. After that the scent turns into an enjoyable but less original vetiver-violet/unknown floral combo, with hints of cedar and musk in the base. This phase is kind of pretty but not as enjoyable as the first whiff that truly takes you to an enchanted land of dreamy meadows.
Also, the scent’s overall longevity is pretty disappointing as well.It lasts 2 hours tops.

  14. :

    3 out of 5

This is a wonderful green scent. Feels like you’re lost deep inside pine woods. I absoloutely love it. However, and sadly, like with the original She wood perfume, the longevity is poor and it fades into powdery nothing withing 2 hours. Sillage is also very poor. I wish there was an intense version of this with a staying power of atleast 4-6 hours, then I’d be hooked on this scent for life.

  15. :

    4 out of 5

Absolutely agree with the abovementioned: ‘ignore the initial masculine blast. What comes next has nothing to do with it’.
This fragrance is a perfect rhapsody to evergreen femininity and beauty of Nature. Just stay silent and breathe the air around; air of pine forest.
It’s not She the scent catches or how hard She runs
It’s the rain on Her face, the wind in Her hair and the spirit inside..
And it’s so uplifting, that you’re gliding like an elf, a sublime creature, who triggers a process of elevation….
But don’t be fooled by her ephemerallity; her trail is so voluptuous, so aphrodisiacal- perfect marriage of animalic ambergris with sensuous wood!
She is at once serene and assertive offering a deceptively simple elegance that is so hard to achieve.
Was absolutely stunned when I discovered how familiarly She Wood Velvet Forest Wood played on my skin- in the same way as my favourite Skin by Trussardi that has recently been discontinued. What a relief! All the strings are still attached, still here..just Love, Love ,Love it!!!!
P.S. Can’t not to mention, how much Ive been amazed to find that My Burberry by Burberry resembles She Wood VFW in the overall drydown, especially, if you know that they share not a single common note, except, patchouli in the base indeed
Ignore the initial rosy feminine blast. What comes next…is a different story…..’

Cool wind after a heavy summer rain over a field of violets in a cedar forest. Words are poor to describe how incredible this is. So sophisticated and elegantly distant, cold, quiet and mysterious. This is one of the best moods a perfume has ever put me into.
P.S. Ignore the initial masculine blast. What comes next has nothing to do with it.

This one is so fresh. I want it to order it this days from Strawberrynet, it’s on sale and I cant miss the chance. It makes me think of a wonderful forest, of a peaceful river and great peace! This would make me Zen!

  18. :

A woody cucumber, fresh and airy. Completely linear and not sweet in the slightest on me. Very interesting.
However, I’m not sure I want to smell this kind of “interesting”. Big points for originality though! It’s definitely different from anything else in my wardrobe. Personally, I just don’t get it, not even sure I like it. A big “meh”.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

I think I know what is the secret to this perfume. It is crispy cucumber WITHOUT citruses. In almost every aquatic I know wet crispy fresh notes like cucumber or melon are accompanied by a load of citruses and often also mint, and that is what puts me off most of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love lemon, I just don’t fancy smelling like one. And mint is too harsh for the nose.
In this case there is no mint and no sour stuff, but cucumber combined with pine and leaves sweetened just a tiny bit with flowers and musk.

I’ve been using it for 1,5 year and now I can claim surely, “It’s mine!”. Velvet Forest Wood is similar to your old cosy plaid, it’s the scent for yourself however sometimes somebody passerby tries to find the origin of this delicate and natural aroma. And you can be its vessel.)

This was a blind buy based on the notes and the reviews, and I purchased a 30ml EDP for about £13 with delivery which seemed reasonable and worth a try – I like woody notes, I adore violet…why not, thought I.
This is a very fresh green outdoorsy type smell. The woods in this are not like soft scented fragrance woods, these woods are freshly pruned trees, new wood for building a fence or deck, it has that smell when you have been out walking or working in the countryside, almost a woodshavings note mixed with that “outdoor” smell you get on your skin and clothes after being out on a cold day.
I think the cedar and pine make this a handsome scent – not masculine but definitely handsome rather than pretty.
I thought it was finely nuanced and had good depth. The violet leaf smell was very faint at the beginning, seeming to become stronger as the day went on.
It felt very autumnal, the season in which I was wearing it, it may be too cool for me in the winter but I look forward to trying this in summer to see if warm weather enhances different notes, and as it is such a lovely cool fragrance
    .
Longevity was moderate, I could smell this on me for about 6-8 hours, although there were faint lingering traces of violet and pathcouli and sillage was very mild, this wore close to the skin on me.
I like this scent, cool, green, woody and handsome, perfect for when you want to escape to the great outdoors but can’t, or for wearing for a walk or gardening so you can enjoy the scent on yourself but not overwhelm the scents around you.
I sometimes revitalise it mid day with a splash of violet water which works well to enhance the violets I so love.
The only downside for me, and it may just be my bottle, but the cap is so hard to get on and off, it is so tight!
UPDATE – This seems to be working well as a spring scent it may actually work better as a spring summer scent, or may be good all year round. The more I try this the more I like it.
Interestingly, I got my other half to try this as our skin seems to very much accentuate different notes in perfumes (poor man is becoming my guinea pig, the amount of times I have asked “may I borrow your forearm please?” must make us sound very strange should anyone overhear!) and where this is very woody and green and cool on him is straight up parma violets! So maybe one to try out first, although I do like this whichever notes play up strongest.

This is a perfume I use when I’m sick and tired of all my perfume collection. A day off for my nose and senses. Clean, transparent, like a deep breath of fresh air near the sea and the pine wood. Pure. Crystal clear.
    Genuine.

I purchased this blind, and ended up regretting it.
It’s not bad, but so very green, it was simply too green for me.
No overly distinguisable notes, just that one, strong, green scent. Very outdoorsy.

  26. :

This is lovely. Green forest sprites greet you in the beginning, in a lush, enchanting forest full of pines. At this point, it is very cool and refreshing, thanks to the galbanum. Fresh, mossy pine needles, just after a thunderstorm.
But the forest is short lived, and you find yourself walking down a wooded lane, lined with cedars. It is very green and lush, full of tiny delicate wildflowers. At this point it is so soft and peaceful. Violets take center stage, making you realize you have crossed this path before. You feel like being wrapped in the softest, warmest velvet blanket that has been warmed in the mid morning sun.
    Powdered with talc.
Velvet Forest indeed. Beautiful. So polite and inoffensive, soft and light. I love Dsquared perfumes. Looking forward to something new from them….
This is definitely one I will wear when I want to ‘reconnect’ with myself, whether it be a hike on one the paths at our ‘little pine forest’ or just sitting with a good book and a favorite cup of tea.

  27. :

This is more than a perfume, this is the state of soul, the web of emotions and feelings, the inner essence of somebody who’s wearing it. It is uplifting- like as if you were sad and crying and then comes this scent and comforts you, the nature whispers the promises of better times.
Return to innocence, to the wild nature. It bears the message- you can go as far as you like, but don’t forget where you come from, don’t forget the nature and it’s rules. I imagine a dryad smelling like that.
It is a realistic forest- green, grassy, mossy, woody, slightly shadowy ( deep/ dark) and a bit humid after the rain. When it settles down I smell some wild flowers, but no sweet notes tough, no fairy tales.
For an independent woman, for somebody who dares, who is looking for something unique and recognizable. Pure, genuine, beautiful.
Could be a good unisex scent too.
Update: Only one thing- on my skin it has a quite weak staying power, I have to reapply every 3 hours. On my scarf it stays 2-3 days.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I also have no idea where the “ozonic” and “aquatic” notes are about, as I don’t get those at all in this warm, dry and woody scent.
This is a very subtle fragrance, but not weak. It is sort of in the same category as Enchanted Forest, but less sweet and not as powerful or complex. Definitely a mossy perfume, with a hint of sweetness in the drydown from the patchouli and amber. The small amount of musk adds a piquant animalic note, which is perfect for a scent of the great outdoors, but not in excess.
The sillage is not great, but the longevity is good and I received many complements and questions about what scent I was wearing.
This would be a superb unisex fragrance even though it is marketed to women.
I love the bottle, which reminds me of the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Blind buy from a trustworthy e-shop, as I enjoy woody yet fresh fragrances. But comparing to the comments on this fragrance I start thinking, I’ve got a leftover.
The opening is quite heavy and blurred. There is green feeling in it, but on the pale and thin skin it does not feel like fresh scent. Well, in a while it turns into woody fragrance, but there are no rainy forests in it. I don’t find “ozonic” and “aquatic” accords in it.
    Longevity is incredible.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

Blind buy, as I’m a fan of anything green and this one got many good reviews.
I really like it. Very nice, leafy green scent. Very glad that the pine/vertiver aren’t overdone in this one, otherwise it would have been too strong and too masculine. It’s a great effort by Dsquared – they truly produced something I could mistake for a niche creation.
It smells so fresh, crisp and smooth, just like green leaves in the spring rain with a little bit of florals shimmering in the background. I found my everyday scent that’s a little less green than Diptyque Eau de Lierre. They don’t really smell alike – but I can almost guarantee if you like either one of them – you will love the other. This is Eau de Lierre’s ‘high street’ cousin.
What a great alternative to citrus for summer! One of the most peaceful fragrances I came across, a true zen feeling captured in a bottle. Perhaps because I love forests and nature in real life and this is the scent I crave so often, transports me to a quiet, dense forest where I can relax and breathe in all its glory.
My only complaint is that it’s a very muted scent and silliage is not impressive. However I spray it in my hair and it makes the scent last longer, it makes my hair smell divine! (The drydown on clothes is also quite divine – violets+powder, very reminescent of Balmain Ivoire’s drydown)

This is beautiful, rustic and feminine. The fir/pine is present and well balanced with the florals.

This is a beauty as so many stated 😉 a bit different to many off the perfumes i have . This is more off a trip to the nature. A perfume to feal fresh and energyst when you just nead that grownding and feal off refreshing nature
I was initialy affraid that i might feal to masculine . But the violet leaf sweeten it up abit so it feals feminin and fresh
I bought this because off the Pine and cedar note. and i am not disapointed
This is also very different to the other She Wood . this isent as much about the violet luckely . because i did not care to much for the other one.. this is more well blended whit nature and freshness ,more natural in away
The wood and pine mixed whit violet leafs ( and the other notes ) makes it almost a bit fresh marsiphan smelling. there is this serten freshness off almost bitter almonds. I dont know if its my skin or if more get this wiff when it has settled on skin abit. But it is not to much at all. just a hint and refreshing feal
This could have been stronger it does last on skin , but is very soft in the end . Close to skin . But shure worth it .

I bought this as a blind buy. It’s a pretty scent however it’s not what I expected. It has a green opening but it last like 15 minutes, then the woods come in and last for a bit. The rest is a BIG bouquet of florals mixed with woods which is not at all what I was looking for. I was expecting a lot more green and very little florals. The scent does last 8-10hrs which is a +.
Without the green notes, it reminds me of Balenciaga Paris

Love, love, LOVE it! Got my small 30 ml a few days ago and it fits me beautifully in the cold climate I live in, especially now in autumn. Too bad it seems to be gone from the shops in my country.

Beautiful woodsy mood setting close to the skin fragrance. Gives me the sensation of walkiing through a lush green scottish evergreen forest.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

I’ve been looking around for a clean, wood-based fragrance that wasn’t too floral or fruity, and out of all the She Wood range, this was the one that was the most beautifully composed. Velvet Forest Wood has a panoramic progression from green, pine-scented forest canopy after the rain, down to clean, skin-like wood. As you get closer to the ground, you start to smell sweet, resinous wood sap and soft earthiness.
When I first wore it on my skin, I was struck by how much the overall dry-down resembled a greener Prada Infusion d’Iris. Not surprising when I realised they shared common notes of galbanum, cedar, vetiver, and powdery florals. The amber also gives a vein of sweetness and warmth that echoes the benzoin in Infusion d’Iris.
I think this is under-marketed and overlooked in most parts of the world, and while I love the fact that I can find it at discounters for a very good price, I also worry that this will be on its way out for Dsquared2 soon.

I purchased this based on the reviews I read on numerous websites and I LOVE it! She Wood Velvet Forest Wood is exactly what I have been looking for in a fragrance. When I first sprayed it, it was crisp, floral and feminine. Within a few minutes I started to get the woodsy musky notes. On me it is very sexy but not overpowering or heavy. This is the perfect scent for the outdoorsy yet feminine woman. In the past I have tried various fragrances claiming to be “earthy” and they were either too sweet or too masculine as most “earthy” fragrances are unisex. This scent makes me smile as I am taken first through a field of flowers and then led deep into the enchanted velvet forest. I have finally found my signature scent. Thank you DSQUARED 🙂

A fragrance that really creates the ambience of woodland on a warm day. Not a sensual or outgoing type of fragrance. It’s more of a mood creator for one’s personal use. Blind buy based on reviews here, which are very accurate, as is the text description. Very enjoyable to wear.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

Many similarities to Dior Farenheit. No one note stands alone but instead they create an orchestra of violet leaf, green and woody fir notes. This should be unisex as it works for both men and women. It’s fresh, a little rugged and as the title suggests, velvety, in one smell, that’s a bit more sultry than the original.
Update… the cedar, pine notes really reveal themselves a while into the drydown. Mmmmmmm…

    (ENGLISH)
This perfume is not just a perfume … is a means of transport ….. yes, he will tansporta really, when you close your eyes for a pine forest, with all its freshness of lakes and waterfalls, with its aromas of flowers, grass, moss, and even so you feel a lumberjack, but instead you feel very feminine, because they involve you with aromas gently as if he wore a dress made of these aromas. It is not invasive, leaves no trace, but who sits next to you feels these flavors and travels with you, ride … srssrrss ….. Just a little piece in the setting, which should be better.

It is not masculine although one could expect it to be so – with all those pine, cedar and patchouli notes. But it warms up on the skin, becomes soft and feminine. You can smell the forest in it – spacious and rich, mysterious and welcoming. I love this fragrance. On my shlef this one is a treasure.
It does not last though – this is my only complaint.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

If silence is gold, then this treasure deserves nothing but silence…
Yet no one can read silence, so:
This perfume has passion, but not the kind of “flamenco dancer”- passion, or a “hot couple making out” passion. It has the passion of a waterfall, of a galloping horse, of a cliff dive. It’s powerful and somewhat cold… I can see it as a unisex fragrance, especially in the top notes. It’s just the genderless essence of nature in a bottle. I cannot detect anything artificial and synthetic in that beauty. Mostly I get wood and daffodils…
This fragrance pushes me through bad days and heightens my best moments. It’s just more…

  44. :

    4 out of 5

    I had a bottle.
Actually Velvet Forest Wood can be a unisex perfume. It’s a strong scent, even masculine in top and heart notes.
There were times I loved all She Woods I’ve known (the classical one and Crystal Creek Wood), now I’m much more into a different kind of smells but to tell you the truth Velvet Forest is really worth trying.
It starts with a strong, a bit masculine hit of pine and violets and you can sniff soil (patchouli, galbanum maybe?), moss, as if you were in a wet forest full of pine trees. The weather is cold. Afterwards the coldness diminishes and the scent becomes warmer, as if you were walking on a sea shore near a pine forest in spring (the weather is warmer).
    The scent: 4,5/5
    Lasting power: 4,25/5
Bottle: 4,5/5 (I like it, it’s like home, nature being people’s home; it’s also modern).

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Well… it is really similar to the original She Wood. I can say easily that they’re twins, but this one is less flowery, a bit green. Not the best from the Dsq2 perfumes, it is solid, not so attractive, not so memorable, a safe fragrance, good choice for autumn.

This is a lovestory I have to end for a while…the love will never go away but I´m close to finishing my second bottle. With a few ml left I recall lovely whifs from you, making my day !
I love all about it, can wear it anytime, the bottle is modern and classy and not everybody is wearing it!! It is opening strong but goes subtle and creamy after a crisp zesty beginning.
You – my former Signature scent,
promise me to caress me again, some time !
Today you arrived with mail, a 50 ml TOTAL love…
This is one will always stand on first row in my wardrobe !
Its green, pine, wood and creamy citrus too me.
turning powdery and a little sweet at drydown.
It can easy be worn on a summer day as a refresher
and you cant really overspray this as it doesnt have
    a harsh note anywhere.
It consists pine , but isnt that masculine at all.
It will always have a certain place in my wardrobe
    – and heart.
    I love it

I found this to be quite masculine. The opening is a rather soft violet leaf with green notes that smell remarkably like cucumber to my nose. And then pine and tons of it blooms and dominates the fragrance.Several hours later and it’s softened again to something quite pretty indeed, floral and musky, with powdery amber. But the middle stage of this is such a strong and masculine pine that I can’t like it. This needed more of the flowers and amber to me.

I really like this perfume a lot!! At first I didn’t understand that it existed two shewood and ofcourse I bought the wrong one! The velvet shewood is a much more feminim and soft scent, very sensual and cosy. It starts with a light smell of citrus and a woody/light violet smell. The citrus goes away rather fast.
After it developes into this lovely unik sensual scent that I love so much. I dont normally like woody or green notes, but this one is just so, so amazing and soft. I love the little violets in it as well. The only thing I can complain about is the lasting power, I think it stays on the skin for about 3 hours maximum. That’s a shame. To describe this perfume with one word it would be COSY, I just want to undress my self and hug my self all night when I wear this haha

My favourite “She Wood”. Safe for work/school, fresh, but in a “woody” way, perfect for a business meeting when you want to impress as it’s not strong at all. I like it

This is described as “a woman living and breathing in rhythm of nature” and I think it does a decent job.
I get the distinct balsam scent and by that I mean the scent of evergreens (brought to you by cedar and pine). That is the most prominent to me. It’s pretty realistic. Then there’s the green note which gives it the “fresh air” feel and violet which gives it a dry powder note.
It’s also got an almost mossy note (from the vetiver and patch) which I think represents the scent that you get from wet leaves and moist soil of a forest.
I think the musk, floral and amber represent the woman walking through the forest. The floral is merely a background note as it would be if that woman were walking through the woods with her perfume on and someone further down were to catch a waft of it. The forest smell would be foremost but there would be that trace of her scent with it.
As a result of the floral being so minimal, this strikes me as more of a unisex scent. In fact, it falls more to the masculine side imo.
It’s classified as green-floral-woody but I would classify it as a woody (forest) musk skin scent.
I don’t think this perfume smells cheap at all despite previous reviewer’s comments.
I think the perfume is crafted well and meets its inspiration for the scent. That being said, I’m not sure when I would wear it.
I think men should definitely give this one a try.

I get very very green, juicy notes, like crushing young green leaves in your hands. It’s very fresh, still there on my wrist after 4 hours, so I’d say the longevity is nice, considering how light this frag is.
It’s perfect for summer, but does nothing other then smell of violet leaf…And not much difference with She Wood. I’d say it’s pretty much like taking out the flowers and vanilla out of Miss Chérie L’eau by Dior – and getting a result which is 1/3 as good :/

All the marketing here seems to have done a good job to suggest images of forests etc as I’m thoroughly disappointed with the two She Woods that I’ve tried. This one I thought was better than the barely there Crystal Creek, with a mid-dry down which stars a pleasant but fleeting mossiness which lasted no more than 20 mins. In an hour the whole fragrance had disappeared and generally if I’d been told this was a ‘drug store’ cheapo fragrance I’d have said it was crap even at a tenth of its retailing price. Shame as I was really expecting something a bit special.

Arid and woody. It’s only very slightly floral and very slightly green. I don’t think I have the right chemistry for this. It’s not doing anything beautiful on my skin. Fortunately there is no s
