Id have to say this is the most dreamy modern romantic white floral melange in our time. This is an always appropriate white floral thats polished and can reach for everyday without it being too much. Not sure what to wear? Scandal. Its much more versatile than one may think. This is not anything like fracas ..this is much more romantic and refined. This white floral does not roar. So if you are looking for a screaming white floral presence..look elsewhere. His Tuberose is closer to Fracas..this is closer to JDB but much more ladylike.. Just…lovely

    So…. Scandal by Roja Dove.
One of his first, before the line became gigantic and overstuffed.
From the reviews and notes I was expecting a knock-out tuberose (something I can’t resist). What I got was more of a pastiche tuberose.
It smells like someone took 3 parts Jardins de Bagatelle and 2 parts Tocade and mixed them well. So what you get is a creamy, metallic tuberose with a sugary rose, up front and in your face.
I wish it worked better than it does… The whole thing doesn’t really gel and starts to smell foody in the worst way possible, like a bag of sweets left in the bottom of your purse.
If you’re looking for a steely tuberose with a touch of fruit, go for Jardins de Bagatelle. If you’re seeking instead a fruity rose with a touch of steel, go for Tocade. And ultimately, if you want that knock-out, classy, expensive tubereuse of your dreams, Fracas is still unbeatable after 60 whole years.

This perfume launched back in ’07 was one I liked for it’s white flower core and indeed it is all about those white flowers. Despite the comparisons to big classic white florals like Fracas and Giorgio, this to me is a very distinctive multifloral scent with sandalwood in the dry down, musk, and green notes. The simplicity is quite appealing. Smells of beautifully crafted green-and-white notes that resemble a lovely bar of soap. The wave of spring flowers are decidedly feminine but the unisex dry down contains wood and musk that can come off as more unisex. Fresh and floral, soapy, mature and quite wearable for today if you happen to like the white floral accords. But like I said in the beginning, not scandalous at all. Polite and conservative, lady-like and refined.
The opening is a citric note of bergamot orange and lavender which resemble a clean scent of soap with lavender and citrus blended together. Not too fruity and instantly aromatic and floral with that lavender which subsequently develops into a bouquet of flowers. These are all the big names as far as floral notes go and each are quite potent in their aroma. A rose, a jasmine, a lily of the valley, iris, tuberose and orange blossom. The heady intoxication of these flowers are like putting your nose into the deep end of a flower vase. The green notes are like cut grass freshened and sweetened with citrus and a base of wood and musk. The flowers are dominated by a tuberose. I wish it had contained carnation but the rose note here is the substitute for carnation. It’s a big floral aroma so only if you dislike floral scents will this perfume be offensive.
When wearing this perfume it’s quite clear to me that it is modeled after green florals and classic white soapy white floral perfumes but this has a powdery and subdued and quite easy to like smell. When applied lightly it’s quite a beautiful and light green breeze scent. This matches up with clean light cool blouses and sundresses. She is conservative and yet not dull. The dry down with sandalwood gives this scent a woody touch I find quite engaging and far from ordinary. I’ve long appreciated white floral perfumes ever since I first wore Fracas so to me this is a pleasure. It goes to show that such old time white flower power scents are not relegated to the past and can still be worn and formulated today.
Finally I would like to add that this a perfume which like all perfumes has the power to change on everyone. I have smelled it on my mother and on her it’s a brassier floral musk without the sandalwood I like and without the rose. On her the tuberose is huge and borders on Giorgio stuff but she liked Giorgio so it’s a scent she appreciates. On my sister’s mother in law it’s quite a green floral with lily of the valley coming forth beautifully and concluding with powder. Perfume is magic and transformative. The same perfume can smell differently on everyone else and not only that we can personally interpret the same perfume differently when we detect some notes and scents that are not always smelled by others. My personal impression is that this is a very clean and soapy feel good white floral with the flowers each coming through in a delirious cloud of white flower power: tuberose, rose, lily of the valley, jasmine, over a light wood base of sandalwood that has a very soft powdery finish. Quite stylish and no nonsense. Perfect for wearing in spring and summer when one wants to smell fresh as a flower.

There is a nice classic vibe going on without that heady, powdery “old-timey” scent that plagues many classy fragrances. But at the same time, for being so expensive and from such a prestigious brand, this is a surprisingly light, simple and easily discernible scent with little complexity. The tuberose is nice and light but its usual musky self, the jasmine and gardenia offers some sweetness although I wish there was some more, there is just a sliver of rose underneath it all to give it some extra pizazz and lift it up. It’s not bad, very youthful, very bright, very safe. A solid 6.5 or 7/10 for me.

Roja Dove Scandel has a heady sweet aroma,it is a veritable flower bomb.Despite its price it some how lacks that sophisticated elegance of other perfumes such as Miss Balmain or Hermes 24 Fabourg.

I really like this could be love. This might be my first roja dove FB. Very creamy tuberose and jasmine. I hope the jasmine stays fresh. The lily of valley is noticeable. I agree with the reviews that compare it to white shoulders but the best WS you never smelled.

I do see the resemblance to Bagatelle (which I have previously owned, pre-reformulation batch.) But to my thinking this is much smoother and less ‘in your face old-school.’
My skin devours fragrance so I will admit to re-applying twice on the first day I got it but it still didn’t overpower me or anyone close to me. Everything was well blended so nothing tried to take centre stage. I would rate sillage as moderate and longevity as moderate. I’m not sure I would have paid full price for it but I am more than happy with my bargain find.

The first impression was of jasmine, jasmine and more jasmine. The bergmot was brief and then in comes the tuberose and orange blossom. Its so smooth and well blended. So sophisticated. Smoothed with musk and a touch of earthiness from the orris root. This is definitely a night fragrance and a lovely one at that. I could never take to Fracas because the white flowers were so strident and harsh on me. There is nothing to fear here and I’ve not developed a migraine as I usually do with white florals. Moderate sillage and lengthy longevity. I shouldnt expect anythng less from such a lux brand.

Well.. At first spray it’s very very close to Jardins de Bagatelle (absolutely far from Fracas which is more a kind of narcotic animalic Tuberose), then tuberose worms out to an exploding powdry mix of white Flowers and musk. Tuberose Gardenia milky sexy musk. Soooooo feminine!

Clone of the original Jardins de Bagatelle (80s Formula, not the reformulated liquid currently being passed off as JdB), at many times the price, but would be tempted to get one if my old JdB (I have a 1000ml large bottle) ever runs out.

Roja Dove Scandal is a high quality well done perfume. It smells of the best ingredients and the best of everything from the minute you spray it on.
Interestingly, it bears the distinct signature of an old classic, White Shoulders, to my nose. It smells very much like WS to me through the first 30 minutes of development. I can also see the comparisons to Fracas, but this is softer and prettier in my opinion.
Scandal develops into a lovely tuberose dominant scent in the drydown and has excellent sillage and longevity. It feels luscious and full bodied, but in a classy way, like a voluptuous woman in a Chanel suit and heels.

The perfume is a nice tuberose. However be aware the drydown is extremely soapy. Not the nice Amouage soapy but a very old soap.
The name is contrary to the scent.
If someone wants a pleasant tuberose, Estee Lauder Private Collection, Tuberose is far, far better and more appealing.
I would strongy try on and wait a day before buying. The drydown is not worth the price point.

Yes, it smells like Fracas. It’s a bit rounder and smoother, and it’s a beautiful fragrance. But for the price, you can get a great ylang ylang essential oil (plus some jojoba to carry it) as a replacement, and buy five more expensive full bottles from your wish list.

Can somebody tell me if this really smells even a little bit to Fracas?
    I want something different…
    Thanks!

I just adore this perfume.it is exotic and feminine and makes me feel a million dollars..everyone who comes near me wants to know what the beautiful smell is!
I am also a fan of the classic Chanel No 5,Champs Elysee and Balenciaga Le Dix…and Balenciaga Paris and Narciso Rodriguez..but Scandal has to be the ruler of all!

Wow, it’s not all about tuberose :-))) After a couple of hours it became even softer and tuberose transformed into just a hint of strawberry and now I can smell gorgeous creamy violets (is it orris rout?) and roses and tender musk. Love it!

It’s all about tuberose! I don’t get any top notes but do get lots of tuberose and rose (not oily but fresh). If you like Poison Tendre, Carolina Herrera etc. you should love this one because it’s even better, softer and more feminine.
