Salvatore Ferragamo pour Femme Salvatore Ferragamo for women of Salvatore Ferragamo

Share:

Description

Salvatore Ferragamo pour Femme expresses the classic and sophisticated style of Ferragamo’s world. The fragrance is floral-fruity, with a grassy note. The composition opens with a mild, spicy note of star anise, neroli and apricot. The heart contains a warm and playful mixture of petals and spices: rose, lily of the valley and pepper. The trail is also unusual and gourmand, composed of musk, raspberry and almond. It was created by Jacques Cavallier in 1998.

I’ve had this perfume forever in the edt concentration. Gave it to my sister, who gave it back because it didn’t last on her. Stored it in a box downstairs with other ‘island of misfit perfumes’ until bringing it up to join my collection last night (I’m on a mission to reintroduce myself to some perfumes I have written off as giveaways).
This evening, I quite like it – would be a great office perfume with it’s licorice and wood charm. It’s light, which means no one should require smelling salts to tolerate its presence. Would probably even work in a fragrance free zone…definitely worth hanging onto.

Wow, it’s been almost a year since anyone has reviewed this. This feels like it’s been on the TJMaxx shelves seemingly forever. So, when it was clearanced to $8.00 for a large bottle (dig around sometimes if you shop the TJMaxx and other discount stores, sometimes the clearance prices vary. Not sure why, but anyway..), I figured..why not, how bad could it be..? Well, on me, yeah, it is that bad, unfortunately, at least to my nose and on my skin, even spraying lightly on my clothing.
I see FragranceNet currently has the EDT and the EDP. My review is or the EDP.
This starts off very metallic on me at first blast, then after about 5 minutes, turns very green. After the heavy green overload (my nose and skin are tricky with green notes), this settles into a deodorant scent. So, okay, I guess all in all, not terrible, just not something I want to smell like. Guess there is a reason this has been on the TJMaxx shelves seemingly forever. My apologies to those fans of this, but this one is just not doing it for me. Oh and the bottle is awkward and very clunky. Why did the Ferragamo designers decide to start creating big clunky industrial looking bottles..?!? But anyway, I can’t even detect any notes specific here. Not a single one…Just very green. That really is the only “accord” I pick up here. Again, I suppose this is not terrible, but it just does not trip my trigger…
Meh. I may revisit this in the Summer. Perhaps the heat can work some magic here. But so far, not holding my breath. I guess this might be a good gym scent. It is not heavy nor overpowering and I could see this working nicely for a gym scent. I am grasping at straws, I know. But I wanted to end on some positive notes. 🙂 xx

I’m surprised to see this classed as a Chypre Fruity.
Chypre? Okay. Fruity? Not by current standards. The fruits here are mostly bit players. They are in the juice, but they are in small and secondary roles. In the prior categorization model, this was classified as a Fresh Chypre which is more accurate to how I experience this fragrance.
The longer I wear this one, the more I like it. The first notes can be overwhelming, but it mellows to one of my favorite woodsy scents.

I love this so much. To my nose it’s very citrusy scent, and I was surprised when I saw the note list. Surely there’s more than citrus and I smell lily of the valley, nutmeg and greenness etc, now that I know what’s in it.
I accidentally bought it, when I was looking one other Salvatore Ferragamo’s scent, and thought this was it. And I’m so happy I have this.
This is so delicious, sweet but not too much, feminine and beautiful, and long lasting, perfect.
1.4.18: Grapefruit and lily-of-the-valley, plus just a little bit yummy spices and woodsy notes, so very beautiful; I put it back to my favourite list.

My quick, first impression review: this smells like the shampoo-scented hair of the prettiest girl you can imagine brushing past you in the street…lovely!

This one is too old fashioned for me, I could smell only lily of the valley, and for the second part only musk, not the soft musk unfortunately 🙁

This was the first expense perfume I purchased back in 1998 and I’ve always been found of it. Saw it for $20.00 and picked it up. Currently wearing it now and I get the floral and grass smell. I don’t love it like I used to but it’s more for nostalgia. It’s a safe perfume for work however sometimes if I’m over zealous I get a moth ball smell which is a no no.

SFPF doesn’t smell anything like I expected and there’s also not as much going on as you’d think based on the note list. That said, it’s light and refreshing. A lot of citrus up top, drying down to a softly peppery floral with a bit of cedar later on. Not at all a chypre. A bit on the nondescript side, but pleasant. Definitely office-appropriate and great for warm weather. Perhaps not worth seeking out, but perhaps worth grabbing if you run across it for a great price as I did. The bottle is lovely.

Hhhhmm not bad…quite pretty and breezy. I really cant pick out any dominant notes.. its fruity and floral but the star anise which isnt overwhelming adds a little something to stop it being too generic. Would suit any age and any daytime occasion. Great for spring and summer. Actually this may suit a gap in my wardrobe for when i dont want anything overtly floral.

My TJs has this and I am contemplating buying it to try as it sounds so intriguing but with so many mixed reviews… SOOO many notes in this lol wow

It was a blind buy. I love Ferragamo’s perfumes. And somehow I was expecting flowery-woody fresh scent. And actually it is in a way. But only when it is in a bottle. Unfortunately it just doesn’t work with my skin. At all. First few minutes it’s fine, but after a moment it starts turning into something sour and… Simply, I just can’t stand it on my skin. I think it’s a kind of scent you either love or hate. Nothing in between.
So in case you would like to swap it, I am open to offers (UK). I only use it once and it is 100 ml bottle with original box – so please same or similar size 🙂

  12. :

This was a blind buy for me back in 2000 or 2001. I was not allowed to test it in the store, and bought it simply for the classic lines of the bottle.
With my first spray, I knew it was a mistake. I tried to wear it off and on for years before finally just putting it to the side and forgetting it.
I decided to try it again to see if time had changed my views on it. Nope. This smells like Ocean breeze dryer sheets. I had purchased a cheap perfume from The Body Shop when I was 13; I believe it was called Oceania. That’s what this smells like. I don’t think there is any hope for me and this perfume.

Back in 1999 I smelled this in a magazine and fell in love. My sister purchased it for me and I really enjoyed it. I forgot about it actually and repurchased a year or so ago.
Normally I don’t notice reformulations but this one has been drastically changed. Shame because the original was quite beautiful.
It’s an unusual scent with a lovely spice note. Chances are many of you are smelling the newer version so it’s hard to appreciate what it once was. The new one is just a mere shadow of the original that had tremendous depth and lasting power. Because of this I would not purchase or use the fragrance really again. Try and locate an older bottle if you can you will be pleased.

Surprise pick, very classy floral/ozonic/woody, light and close to skin. Well blended, no note standing out for me. Not sweet and conservative, the only thing is longevity, not very lasting on skin, more on fabric, but I like it anyway. Great pick for office environmental where you may have perfume complainers)))

Like most Ferragamo perfumes, chic, convenient, breezy and on a nice price.A friend of mine said that it smelled to him like green tea, jasmin and rose whenever i would wear it.Unfortunately it is quite hard to find,at least where I live…

“The heart contains a worm and playful mixture of petals and spices: rose, lily of the valley and pepper.”
True. Out of the bottle and in the air. On my skin? Blackberry, violet and a tad scent of fresh spearmint.

“The heart contains a worm”???? Um. Fragrantica typo or editorial review? (Above in description)

This is gorgeous; brimming with Lily of The Valley, intensely fresh and beautiful. It reminds me of Avon’s Haiku so I sprayed one on each wrist. The SF was only a wee bit more sour, less floral but the smells remained fairly identical on my skin. The SF only lasted about 30 mins and was gone in a puff. The lovely Haiku was still hanging around the next morning from night before. These are the type frags I adore after showering in summer, but Haiku is much nicer (to me, on me) with longevity SF lacks.

What it is not: no musk, no darkness, no spice, no anise. No wintry mornings, no mysterious hazy nights. No sugar, no vanilla, no club scene.
What it is: a very light floral with fresh sour green notes which mellows out into a clean laundry rose base accord. To me, this is one stage less sharp, less wintry and more floral than Estee Lauder Private Collection, a sharp wintry green floral.
If Estee Lauder is a brisk winter snap in the air, maybe looking through aspen at a snow-covered sunny valley, Ferragamo pour Femme is a chilly, crisp spring morning after the crocus erupt but before lilac blooms in your own neighborhood. Large, bursting sharpened tulip and iris leaves are a foot high but nothing’s blooming yet. Just about to turn into spring.
The main scents I get is a sour green grassy bite under a prominent lily-of-the-valley. The drydown is much more mellow, maybe turning into a marshmallow rose (and I get no anise or pepper at all, sadly).
I am running out of options for that mystery fragrance I spotted in fall 1998 which smelled sharp, floral, peppery, medicinal and anise back in Ulta (killing time before dinner, I went in and sampled whatever they had on the rack and *thought* I remembered it to be a Ferragamo with a twisted bottle.
Well, this is not it. But with Ferragamo pour Femme, I think I have found a nice amped version of one of those lovely floral body sprays that you WISH lasted all day and kept you feeling fresh and happy (but alas, twindles away into a nothing). Now I think I can spray down my clothes and body with this, lasts a good long time and feels professional and optimistic.
Edited to add: I just wanted to mention there is a thing of beauty on my countertop. I love the simplicity of the bottle, the swirled glass and the large stamp on the side, long and elegant, with the signature of the line. There is something very satisfying about using the heavy, cold steel cap, which is rather small and smooth to hold. I love the Ferragamo style of accessory, feminine, plain and tailored, and I find that same lovely Italian aesthetic in the overall shape design of the glass and steel bottle.

This is a very classy and sophisticated scent. I blind bought it and wasn’t sure I would like it. The more I wear it, the more I love it. Upon initial spray, it smells somewhat soapy, but once it dries down it’s green, soft, and floral. It is not overbearing, but it does make me feel confident. It’s perfect for warm weather.

  22. :

    3 out of 5

This is an interesting composition that unfolds beautifully on the skin and is a perfect lighter summertime fragrance.
For whatever reason & due to my chemistry, anything containing Violet or Iris comes off as blackberry on my skin, and this is not the exception. It smells so similar to Philosophy’s Falling in Love or YSL’s Parisienne…however this has something over those perfumes’ heads…it’s dirt cheap! It’s so wonderful to get a scent fix and find something lovely and unique that is a fun “pick me up” for less than $15.00.
Blackberries and vanilla or almond to me~straight up.
It’s safe, even could be borderline boring, but light & refreshing and the added sweetness to the florals make it warm and easily wearable.

Bought it blindly and did not like. Smelled too much like black pepper/wood/cedar? Had a nice hint of lemon citrus and was light overall, but too much pepper smell 🙁 I returned it.

Pour Femme is so unusual, probably the last attempt of classic fruity chypre, with a modern touch. Pour Femme is very nice, discreet, ladies fragrance, fresh enough, but never boring. I think it is great for everyday wear, you’ll smell nice and everyone will ask you what it is, enjoyable for you and those around you.

This is a soapy scent but not in an old lady way. I think it is light, clean, and appropriate to wear when one does not want to smell like perfume or works at a place where they are not ‘’supposed’’ to wear perfume. It keeps you smelling fresh even in hot humid weather.

I’ve said it before, but I absolutely love this stuff!!
It’s fresh, it’s soapy, it’s spicy….just gets better and better in the heat.
And, after 6 hours or so, the dry down is skin close and frikkin’ awesome!!

I love this !! It went straight to becoming an instant favourite! This is a scent you ENJOY wearing its light, sexy, fresh yet suitable for evening wear as its classy, it just puts me in a really good mood :)It isnt really too much like any other perfumes around at present and people are always asking me what it is. Try the Gold version too which is amazing-love love love them, well done SF !

This one is quite interesting. Innocent on one hand but with a sexy touch, leaving those in it’s presence wanting more! Starts out very clean, sparkling, fresh, kind of abrasive but mellows to a creamy, floral, musky, soft scent. Irresistibly feminine. And I have to say the dry down does remind me very much of Kim Kardashian. This is more classy, however. Definitely a new favorite.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

It smelled like fingernail polish remover. EXTREME acetone. Even the dry down was unpleasant, and extremely sharp and bitter on my skin. It wasn’t what I expected at all.

  33. :

Oddly, this smelled like glue to me at first and I did not use it for some time. One day I thought I recognized it in a bus while returning from a trip – another traveller was wearing it – and it seemed refreshing and of great taste. Weeks later, I had finished my bottle. Perfect for traveling! I think I’ll buy it again…

  34. :

    4 out of 5

If you don’t particularly like pepper, PLEASE don’t get it. The pepper here is strong and it stays ‘on’ through top/heart/base notes 🙁

  35. :

    4 out of 5

On me this is a warm creamy light floral. Although it started out a bit soapy, like a really fancy baby wipe ;-), it’s not a bad thing. Sillage seems medium on my dry skin in this dry winter climate, and it smells pretty and feminine, with just the right amount of spice four hours later. I think I could wear this particular scent any time, any where. I suspect this will find itself toward the front of the line in my rotation.
I’m 42 and have found my tastes changing, responding to more sophisticated scents and I think this one qualifies nicely as an alternative to overly fruity girlish scents.

  36. :

The first perfume bottle that I drop, it is so tall that I accidentally pushed it trying to reach for another bottle and it fell to the floor and broke in a million pieces. The room smelled of Ferragamo for days. I was so annoyed! I didn’t wear it too often but I enjoyed it every time.
It is not your typical fresh scent, it’s very special and different, a nice grapefruit scent that wears close to the skin but very long lasting. It is a casual fragrance that you can wear to the office without fearing to disturb any nose, on the contrary, you will get a lot of compliments.

  37. :

I first tried this, in a rush at T.J. Maxx. It was quite light, but it lasted incredibly long, and I really liked it! I’ve since purchased this little gem and find it even more appealing. This packs a wallop! I must compare this to White Linen, in strength. I love White Linen so it isn’t an insult in reference when I say, this has the same character. You’ll get several compliments and people around you will like this one.I know I know….huge complaints when it comes White Linen, still, compliments run wild. This is a clean scent, no bout adoubt it! When it dries down and your nose hairs grow back, it’s more flowery for sure. I love this fragrance. I remember Oliver Twist, when Mark Lester awoke in this lovely room, and went to the window and watched as the street came alive. This scent would have been floating on the breeze up to his window. Clean, happy, safe, comforting…it’s just a wonderful scent for a happy world.

Very floral scent and has an older mature scent, I do not think it smells like kim kardashian. It is strong on me and I think it has a linger and basically smells like a fresh bouquet of flowers with a fresh airy appeal.

I had this fragrance long time ago. But as I remember, the most noticeable notes in it are the raspberry note and the black currant note mixed with the lily of the valley note lightness.
It’s nice and light fragrance. Only I guess that it would seem to me simple now.

  42. :

I got a mini at a very low price at TJ Maxx, mainly because reviews were favorable. Unfortunately, it is edt, which may explain the overly light quality. It is pleasant, clean and fresh without smelling like laundry soap. I agree with the mineral water reference, it is very clear.
I do prefer stronger scents by far, but this is very pretty. And so affordable at the discount stores.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

Brilliantly clean and fresh! There is a cool, watery crispness to this fragrance and it seems like it carries a lightness to it that after a while, you just smell freshness. Great for office, casual, anytime fragrance. Not super feminine but a hint of floral sweetness. Judging by all the good reviews, I see I am not alone!

I smelt this on someone else and loved it. As I could never find a tester I went ahead and purchased a bottle without ever having tried it. The verdict: I was happy at first but this just doesn’t smell as good on me. How annoying. Gave it away.

Spotted the Gold edition at TJ Maxx. This is simply one of the best perfumes ever. It is a beautiful warm floral. I’m keeping this one put away for a special occasion. You should be able to find this at any TJ Maxx/Marshalls for a reasonable price. Fellas grab this one, she’ll be happy. Gold edition.

After having it for about a year I still LOVE it. Very elegant bitter-sweet, spicy fragrance. Lasts on me for a long time with a great projection, while the Gold Edition is very timid and close to the skin.
By the way the Gold edition is somewhat similar to EA 5th Avenue Style while the original is absolutely unique and unlike anything else in my collection.

  50. :

its ok but a little too musky and strong

  51. :

    5 out of 5

I thought I’d like Salvatore Ferragamo based on all the reviews here, but it’s too musky for me. (Despite their animalic origin, musks give me a sense of white noise, an irritating hum that I can’t quite ignore.)
This opens with prominent, detergent musk and a very nice green melon. It’s feminine but not sweet. It segues into moderate musk, gentle pepper, and soft woods. I get a faint whiff of nutmeg and vetiver too. This part’s super. Then, at the end a twangy synthetic raspberry note pops out (which is how bvlgari rose essentielle finishes: metallic blackberry).
This perfume is very interesting, chic, and pleasant. According to wikipedia, “about half the human population are anosmic (unable to smell) to macrocyclic musks, possibly due to its high molecular weight.” I almost wish I were among that half, because apart from the darn musks, I find this scent brilliant. However, it seems miscategorized as a chypre. It doesn’t have a “harmony of oak moss, labdanum, patchouli and bergamot.” Specific ingredients aside, it lacks the sensuality I associate with chypres. This perfume is a wit, rather than a sensualist. I’d reclassify it as a Woody-Floral-Musk.

For all lovers of Fendi “Theorema” – I’m sorry to say that I can’t agree with the statement, that SF Femme and Theorema have any similarities. Femme is light, chypre-liga, and Theorema is an out and proud cinnamon-flower-oriental.
Who seeks to find a Theorema-replacement should defenitly pay caution with this one and test before enthusiasticly buying…

I have to disagree with imoore who says that Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Femme smells like a watered down version of Balmain de Balmain. I have this perfume and I did have a bottle of Balmain de Balmain which was a blind internet buy but I hated it and returned it! Whereas this perfume is absolutely lovely and feminine – a soft, creamy, floral with a hint of raspberry fruitness – I found Balmain de Balmain to be harsh, far too woody and heavy and extremely unisex – in fact, so unisex that I thought it was far more a man’s type of scent than a woman’s. I know everyone has their own take on things, and smells things differently of course, but I just thought I’d throw in my penny’s worth and say that, to me, this is VERY, VERY different to Balmain de Balmain!

Bought this at Marshalls for $16.00! It’s delicious. The opening was a little too sharp, but settled down within about 10 minutes to a lovely warm fruit smell, not too sweet. I’m not getting any grassy notes. The sillage is close and I wish it lasted a bit longer on me, but I’m happy to spritz again after about 4 hours. This would be great for work since I don’t think anyone would find it too strong. It’s one of those fragrances that you want to lean in close and experience. A great find for not much money!

This is a nice, clean grassy fragrance. It is a beautiful fragrance. It is not too loud and appropriate for any occasion. I don’t smell any fruit or flowers in this perfume. To me it smells very green and grassy with a hint of spice and pepper. I LOVE it!!!

Just gave a review to Subtil by Ferragamo, now it is Pour Femme’s turn 🙂
Pour Femme was a great surprise to me – lovely floral juice with a slice of fruit 🙂
Initially i thought I got the price tag wrong as I got a 100ml EDP bottle for $18.00 (just like I grabbed Subtil) and for that jokingly low price, I decided to buy it blind.
And have no regrets! Pour Femme is a beautiful fragrance gentle enough to be worn to office or a Sunday roast with in laws 🙂 But it is distinct enough to draw compliments from people around you.
Pour femme is my finishing touch to a smart suit as well as casual white linen trousers. It goes well with any clothing and will surely uplift your mood!
I cannot tell you what particular notes I can detect as the whole fragrance is such a lovely balance of flowers, fruit and spices.
None of them is screaming, yet all of them make you feel elegant, confident and soooooo feminine.
I noticed that all Ferragamo fragrances last a good while on me and Pour femme is no exception.
It has noticeable sillage and for $18.00 per 100ml EDP you would be silly to give it a miss!!!!
If florals with a fruity echo are your cuppa, give it a go.
    You won’t regret it!
    The quality is superb!
My both thumbs and all toes up for Mr Cavallier!

This is an expensive-smelling, elegant fragrance that’s floral with a pleasantly fruity undertone. A good, conventional everyday fragrance. Nice, but no distinguishing features so I probably won’t buy it again.

Salvatore Ferragamo EDT Gold Pour Femme!
I justfound a 1.7 oz. bottle at T.J. Maxx, Beaverton Oregon. I came upon it 4/29/2011 and picked up a bottle. Went to the car, opened it up and loved it so I decided to go back into the store and pick up the last bottle. I have not heard of the GOLD edition but I love it. Now, it’s a favorite in my collection. I have GOOGLED the fragrance and cannot locate the GOLD Edition anywhere. Can someone give me the history of Salvatore Ferragamo EDT, GOLD Pour Femme?

  61. :

    5 out of 5

Nattonline, I just got Gold myself, and it’s an entirely different fragrance. Ferragamo is spicy and flowery, and Gold is warm, creamy and yes, very oriental.
To be honest, Gold was a huge surprise to me….I like Ferragamo fragrances, but did not expect it to be so beautiful. It is EDT but it has the potency of EDP. It feels almost like liquid gold on the skin. Gorgeous, just gorgeous!
I hope they will add it to the database soon, because it is so worth being talked about.
Just wanted to add that the sillage lasting power of the Gold edition are amazing, especially considering it is an EDT concentration. I never considered Ferragamo perfumes having enough personality to be used as special occasion fragrances, but this one definitely rises above the rest from the house( to my nose at least).

I just got a bottle and my bottle is in “gold” and perhaps it’s an alternate version of this original, I don’t know. On my skin, it doesn’t get fruity at all. It actually turns into something like oriental floral. It’s soft and yet potent. It’s very feminine and I can see it great for many of my girl pals. However, it is not going to work with me because I wanted it to be more clean and fruity. I think the oriental aspect in women’s fragrances is just too feminine for me to pull off. 🙁

What an enigma!!Florals, fruits, spices, pepper?musky raspberry almond milk. All combined making for one very differnt fume.THis was made for a confident,in charge woman, who still has a softer side.Playful, clean but still a lil dirty from the musk.Always sweet, even to the end!

Salvatore Ferragamo pour femme don’t smell like Pleasures of Estee Lauder. Also, this one its so far, a better fragrance.
Neither its “too fruity”. Its a delicate “chypre floral”… with softly hints of citric fruits like green apple & raspberry (almost unperceivable) and grapefruit (obviously) in a blend of subtle cocktail… Like the subtle but prominent flavor of a coconut-lemon tart… However its not a “gourmand” essence.
The drydown its floral… Spicy elements are just right, to make this fragance elegant, discreet and distinguishing.

That being said, I don’t know if I would call this perfume a chypre fruity. I would call it an allrounder and if I MUST choose, I would give it the same category as Theorema, Oriental Spicy looking at the pepper, the nutmeg AND the spicy note in general that are ALL in this perfume!

If you love Theorema, this will maybe be your thing too. I love this one more than my Theorema!

The problem with this frag is that it does not stick, you have to use an awful lot of it as well! It should be much cheaper.

Salvatore Ferragamo is a great perfume! I agree with Awesomeness that it’s fresh and clear, and it’s also very clean smelling. I’m not normally a big fan of floral perfumes, and this is floral but with a hint of fruitiness which I really like. I don’t detect the metallic element in it which some reviewers seem to smell, nor do I think it smells remotely like Estee Lauder Pleasures, luckily, because I really hate that perfume!!
So, I’m loving this perfume and would definitely buy another bottle when I run out!

This is soft, soapy, green, and fresh. It’s strange because I really enjoyed the Ferragamo pour homme, it was almost feminine in its sweetness and had a lot of character which is rare for a men’s cologne. I was hoping for some of that same character in the women’s version. I like it, but some of the notes that I loved in the men’s version are sadly missing in this women’s version. I really miss the lemon, cyclamen, and carraway from the men’s version of this fragrance and wish that they had been added. While pleasant and fresh, I wanted the complexity of the cologne in this perfume and sadly, it is lacking. I guess I’ll continue to hijack my husband’s cologne. I rate this one 6 out of 10.

Upon initial application of FERRAGAMO I was having a serious déjà senti experience. Then suddenly I remembered what this reminds me of: PLEASURES by Estee Lauder. I have not worn PLEASURES in a long time, though at one point I was trying to convince myself that I liked it and managed to get through nearly half a bottle. I cannot say that they smell the same, but they make me feel the same, if that makes any sense.
FERRAGAMO, too, has a strong peony presence, which apparently does not sit well with me–at least in what appear to be certain synthetic renditions. This edp seems rather clean, just as PLEASURES does in some ways, but for some reason it does not agree with my body’s chemistry. Rather than soapy or green, I find these fragrances to be slightly metallic. Although they are not repugnant or emetic, I don’t find them particularly agreeable or enticing either.
That said, FERRAGAMO would appeal, I think, to anyone who loves PLEASURES. Best suited for summertime, I think.

I’ve been wearing this one mindlessly for a while now and just today I sniffed my wrist and realized . . . wow I really really love it.
As far as chypres go, this is superb. The opening is loud, bold, and masculine, which I admire. The green spices take an early stand, untempered by sweet notes and abrasively dry. What an attitude! Salvatore Ferragamo seems like that assertive woman who knows exactly what she wants and goes toward it like a torpedo. She’s a real powerhouse, unique and strong. After the spicebomb of anise is aired out, what is left is a fruity heart, that much juicier and sweeter in contrast to the opening. Oh my goodness, it’s sublime. I distinctly make out the grapefruit flirting with the raspberry, and it’s so tender I almost want to cry. The cute peony peeks out from this combination bashfully. Warm woods provide the backdrop to this meadow scene. Is this really the same perfume that I smelled half an hour before? Salvatore Ferragamo has that element of surprise that I find missing in so many fragrances lately.
I love this perfume from start to finish. It is so unusual and so daring, in a quiet way. The lasting power is medium and the sillage is a little less than medium. But the attitude that’s packed in this perfume . . . unimitatable. Masculine, bold, and strike-them-down. Unconventional and green from spicy head to fruity tail. For a woman full of self-assurance and surprises.
