    Possibly the best of Creed.
A marigold of white floral, seasoned with citrus and some very soft pine and vetiver.
The performance is above the brand average, up to 8-9 hours with good sillage.
    Review about a 120ml bottle.
    Excellent and pure class!!

This is from old school but classy.
A beautiful bouquet of fresh roses, pines and citrus that slowly opens with the note of eucalyptus that floats endlessly. A mix of classic but elegant and timeless notes.
A fluctuating trail that in part reminded me of my childhood, well-kept gardens and flowering buds of pittosporum.
Here the dry rose is the key. I bet that with a common tonic-roses this decanter would end up in the trash.
On my skin they enjoy the citrus fruits and improve with the passage of time. On clothes it stays for a long time.
I find it perfect to wear during the day in the spring period.
Bright, harmonious, outmoded and damn expensive.
    See you in June.

    Camphorous – rose – eucalyptus
    Color impression: light grayish red
Surprisingly I received more compliments on this fragrance than many others! It is quite interesting that how a heady rosy camphorous fragrance can do such stun. Smells like a gentleman in men locker after playing golf at Muirfield. Royal Mayfair’s herbaceous, green, metallic, salty and weirdly floral. In terms of style it’s formal, classic/modern, unique, immediately recognizable, and classy sporty. The only drawback is its jaw-dropping price – great drawback.

my most recent purchase. And I gotta tell you, Im pleasantly surprised. Almost shocked…because I read a number of reviews to the negative that were pretty convincing. But as I do with scents that Im more inclined to purchase despite other opinions, I stood my ground and went full hog. And I LOVE Royal Mayfair, because I dont have anything like it and it just smells good.
I have a number of fragrances. Some in my fragrance profile..and as recently as two days ago, a number of them that I have boxed and put away for the time being. What is shown, is the stuff that I wear A LOT. Royal Mayfair will be one of them, altho’ I wont be wearing it everyday. Just because I dont think its an everyday scent, unless you are accustomed to wearing stuff that smells pretty formal.
out of the sprayer, it tricks you into thinking its a gardenia scent…not a rose fragrance. And it smells like a boozy gardenia, with the alcohol note…until it calms down about two minutes later. The eucalyptus is hanging out in the background from the start to the finish line. If you dont like that note, I would STRONGLY suggest not buying this. Thats how present that note is here.
And then the rose comes thru like a freight train. Surrounded by pine, booze and orange. it doesnt pause before it delivers the next note either. It comes at you in a big ball of “stuff”. On any other niche fragrance, it might be accused of not having any symmetry or all these other descriptions that reviewers stick on perfumes that they dont wait on, to fully understand.
with Royal Mayfair, its not something to be understood. It simply, is what it is. An old school, stuffy-upper crust perfume, with a slight barber soap vibe, that aint apologizing for its aristocratic slant. And with all the perfumes that Ive bought, I can honestly say Im glad I waited on that one perfume that is old school in a way that I REALLY dig. Its dated to the same degree, you get with a lot of Penhaligon perfumes.
longevity on me, is surprisingly just a bit north of 8 hrs, with it giving me these cool, delicious whiffs of a piney-rose thruout the day. I can already tell, this will last longer in warmer weather. I havent worn it out in public yet. But once this rubs up against the Summer heat, it’ll start to show off, more.
beautiful stuff that makes the piney-rose of Amouage Lyric for Men, smell like a box of scentless air, in my opinion. This coming from a bigger fan of Amouage than Ive ever been a Creed fan. Very well done, Mr Creed.

Before we start, in my review i refer to the “original” Mayfair, and not any of the current formulations.
Royal Mayfair was my very first encounter with Niche perfume. My “One Way Ticket” to the world of high class, naturally smelling perfumes. I came to Harry Rosen to check out TF, but SA asked me if i ever heard about Creed?…. Nope. Never heard. She pulled out GIT – was ok, Royal waters of all sort – nope. And then she got Mayfair out. Upon first sniff, i dint get it. Smells like barbershop scent, basic, quality but basic. She said – have a sample. Well, cant say no to free 🙂
    And i left.
Some time later, before Christmas party, i got it on my skin, small dabs on pulse points. And then it hit me. This is the essence of man! Nothing else before it, or, as a matter of fact after, and till today beats that. If i could have only 1 fragrance – that would be Royal Mayfair.
Notes wise, structure was true to what it shows here: Crisp Gin, Pine, and Citrus. Eucalyptus was poking through, but it was giving a cooling/warming effect, and never at the horrid level of todays version. Rose, rose was shining through after first hour or hour and a half, and heart of this gem was beautiful going to the very base of woods and Eucalyptus. All that on top of Creeds signature accord. Longevity, 10 hours plus. Back then it was absolutely amazing to me. Silage, seems like arms length.
Masterpiece and I bow before creator for this one.
It has been 3 years since i last smelled it, but i can still remember it like it was yesterday. Due to my foolishness, i didn’t purchase it when i needed to, and by the time i made up my mind, it was reformulated to what it is now. An eucalyptus bomb with a weak flowery heart that distantly reminds me of lilac, but not a beautiful flower that it is , but an ugly cousin.

Reminds me of a funeral home immediately and stays that way throughout. Glad I purchased a decant first. Not saying it is a bad scent – if one likes the funeral home smell it might just be for you.

Thank you for the review! What year do you think your toned down bottle is from?
I have a 2017 batch and it is still pretty heavy in the eucalyptus to my nose. Opening is that sharp eucalyptus dryness, not a jammy rose, light cedar and a bit of juniper effect. The dry-down is lovely with a bit of the orange/pine tree vibe, but still there is the bitter rose-petal/eucalyptus. I like this one year round!

I just bought a 4.0 ounce backup bottle from eBay for $125. It is authentic, but it is slightly different than my older bottles. This is why I am writing a second mini review, just to mention a couple slight differences.
The eucalyptus note has been toned down.
So the pine and rose accord are a bit more prominent. This makes it slightly darker, and less fresh. The eucalyptus that I love is still there, and very noticable.
The longevity is slightly less than older formulations, but performance is still very solid.
From the reviews some people love this, as it’s my signature fragrance now for Spring time, French Lover for Fall and Winter.
Others, or many others don’t care for it, many complaining of the sharp medecinal eucalyptus note. That’s why I think they toned it down in the new batches, maybe from 2016.
So some will like the new formulation better. I however like the sharp eucalyptus blast in the opening of the older batches. The eucalyptus makes it very fresh for me, so it’s a substantial fragrance that can be enjoyed in the warmer weather. With the prices comming down from the on line stores like fragrancenet, and eBay, I can use it more often.

I love nearly all Creed fragrances (except Himalaya) and think Royal Water and Royal OUD should last longer. So, I was expecting the worst from Royal Mayfair. I really like the opening. It’s fresh, I’m not getting medicinal. From there it made its way through the Creed process and settled into one of the best rose scents I have smelled. I was starting to think the whole Royal line from Creed was their least imaginative scents but this Mayfair is great. There’s a very nice middle section that brings in a cedar, wood similar to Royal OUD, it even has a sandy scent in there too. Very complex how this one evolves. I know what my wife is going to be buying me for my birthday! Oh and I got a solid 8 hours out of it, not a great projection scent but I’m married lol. We stop worrying about projection once we’re married. It’s nice to smell on yourself. I might have to give Royal Water and Royal OUD more tries after this.

At the risk of hyperbole, applying Creed Royal Mayfair is tantamount to treading on Holy Ground. When you consider Royal Mayfair’s provenance, it gives you pause. That it was originally created in 1936 for England’s King Edward VIII, there can be no doubt of Creed’s intention. This is no mere commercial offering to plebian tastes.
Every note and transition in Royal Mayfair is presented with subtlety and finesse. The opening gin-lime-pine accord, while fresh and invigorating, remains soft, yet provocative and interesting. The transition melts into a deep and natural rose. The eucalyptus note, rather than smelling medicinal, combines with the cedar in a woodsy, herbal accord. So smooth and artful is the blending and development that its aristocratic pedigree emerges as an aura more than a mere scent. It’s exquisite.
Clearly, Royal Mayfair is not for everyone. It’s no charmer. It’s not even particularly friendly. No, Royal Mayfair is a fragrance of aloof refinement. It’s the smell of …well-to-do, civilized people with self-confidence, reinforced by education, position, and taste.

This is one of those that you have to let settle down past the opening and then it’s heaven. (Sort of akin to Versace Dreamer and Caron Pour Un Homme). While living on the Southern California coast, one of my best olfactory memories was walking past the star jasmine and gardenia bushes at night picking up whiffs of the sublime white floral aromas of both, with the salty ocean air and subtle astringent eucalyptus trees and sage in the background. Was a very special time in my life full of possibilities and good times.
    A masterpiece of modern perfumery.

Don’t judge Royal Mayfair by the harsh opening. If you don’t like the mothball note, don’t worry because it will dissipate in 10 minutes. The drydown reveals a sparkling lime and orange citrus top infused with pine and a subtle hint of rose. The eucalyptus in the base is what provides the long-lasting effervescence that makes Royal Mayfair reminiscent of spruce beer.
Less is more with this one, and placement matters too because the first 5-10 minutes can be rough if you don’t like the initial camphor. I get a beautiful result with one half-spray on the back of my neck. Another tip: don’t sniff it up close after spraying or sniff the atomizer, or else your sinuses will feel frosty for a while.
Royal Mayfair is highly susceptible to weather variations. In the summer, the pine dominates. In the fall, you’ll be astonished by how it transforms into a rich rose scent. In the winter, it changes again into a lemon and orange citrus-pine scent with near-aquatic features. I find that these different personalities also manifest themselves at different times of day depending on where you are and how many hours have passed. This is a masterpiece of kaleidoscopic complexity.

Having initially smelled this, I quickly dismissed it. I disliked the harsh, medicinal opening and didn’t think to revisit it. Recently, I decided to give it another go. I’m very glad I did. This is a stunner.
The opening is very spicy-medicinal and initially smells like an oriental ointment. As I started to get used to the fragrance, I started being able to isolate the gin, orange, pine and lime notes. A concoction. I don’t find this super nice, but it’s very pleasant.
Then, the progression is beautiful. The medicinal aspect starts to withdraw and out come the zesty citruses and sparkling woods. The tiniest hint of sweetness is added by gorgeous rose accord.
Eventually, this settles as a beautifully fresh, tenacious and very refined citrus fragrance. In this dry-down phase, it easily beats some of the best-regarded citruses (Nio, Acqua Viva etc) to my nose.
I have never had my opinion changed on a fragrance as much as with this smooth scent. It can be worn in all seasons and occasions, but is very refined so it would fit perfectly in a formal situation.
Performance is good, but could be better. Solid projection for around 5 hours with 8 hour longevity.
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite fragrances.

Cooling, mentholated Eucalyptus blasts onto the skin with a clinical indifference, followed closely by a hint of citrus that mushrooms into an unexpected, radiating warmth of camphorous rose that really, really wants to get to know you better.
It’s a green rose, nothing like you’d expect from the garden variety, but then again, that’s creed in a nutshell.
The topsy-turvy antithesis of cooling Eucalyptol mixed with warming wooded, camphorous green rose might be too much for some, at first. Stay with it, there’s also just enough Iso e Super to keep you whiffing, even if you don’t know why or even want to.
A must try/have for those who love to quaff a fine scent, hybridized for your own private enjoyment, lifting the skirt of nature with a teasing wink that leaves one breathless for more.
This one stays with you, even when you’ve given up sniffing your own wrists (something I’ve rarely ever done with any other brand, despite the Iso e super content), it fumes up to warm you up all over again.
In the top 3 Creed’s for me, even though it shouldn’t do what it does based on the described active constituents. Great, intoxicating alchemy at it’s best.

Amazing scent from Creed, and one of their most unique. I really liked this at first sniff, but thought it was feminine so I gave the sample to my girlfriend. After smelling it on her I realized that it actually leans masculine, so i tried wearing it myself and I fell in love. The fragrance opens up with an exotic medicinal eucalyptus and some natural smelling rose. It smells clean, but not in a soapy way. It’s more of a steam clean scent that comes off very refined, unique, and oddly soothing.
This fragrance smells expensive. It smells like rare ingredients from a very old recipe, which makes this great for special occasions. I love wearing it in the spring, but its an all year fragrance for sure. It can be worn most places, but best for semi-formal to formal events since it is so unique.
    Performance is very solid!

Love this, The green accord is tremendous, I get the floral/rose note right at the start, it’s beautiful. I find the floral side to it really similar to Pure White Cologne, there is also a fresh/clean element to it that reminds me a little of Aventus, but classy and more mature. Probably not something to wear everyday but if you want something unique and for a big occasion this is the one. Went for this instead of Viking which was plum average in comparison. Longevity is solid as well, all day for me but most Creed scents really work on me in this respect.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

I have two main thoughts regarding Royal Mayfair.
Off the bat I should note that quality ingredients are evident as the fragrance can be smelled up very close with zero harsh aroma chemicals jumping out.
1.The scent profile is clean, gentlemanly and reserved. Tailored like a fine suit down to the details, I perceive a clean woody-aromatic aroma with soapy nuances and twiggy pine/juniper nuances. The concept smells harmonious and fully realized. Taken as a whole, I get a general “light green” feeling from this scent. Botanical and natural smelling.
2.The eucalyptus is evident from the start and throughout the life of the fragrance. This is not a particularly pleasant note for me, as eucalyptus is associated with camphorous muscle-ache balms, icy-hot, tiger balm ect. Generally unappealing smelling stuff in my book and for me this association is noticeable and worth pointing out.
Overall a unique Men’s Cologne with a classy, mature vibe. I don’t enjoy the eucalyptus note but it is somewhat hidden in the mix of notes. Not something I would wear often.

I can’t get over the icy-hot smell. The wife absolutely hated it. I don’t like to destroy a fragrance on reviews, but I don’t get how this a cologne. Maybe I need to wear it for a few days to get a better feel for it.

  25. :

Such an elegant fragrance that would make for an upper class signature scent for a man or a woman. Doesn’t lean one way more than the other, straight up the middle. What I get is that sharp pine, eucalyptus, and citrus opening that lasts a minute then the rose and some woods come in to play. About 15 min in the pine, eucalyptus and citrus play the very back to make way for the elevation of the rose and woods. It’s actually like smelling the whole rose bush, soil and all, but a clean damp soil. Very suttle. It’s last that way for the rest of the time, which ends up being about 9 hrs on skin and like 24 on clothes. Very good longevity but projection is mild, sits about 3 inches off the skin. Just perfect in my opinion. A very luxurious comforting scent.
Best masculine rose dominant scent that I’ve tried thus far, because it never gets to rosy, or powdery like Lyric Man. It’s very expensive but can be had at a heavy discount. Very much bottle worthy imo. A 10/10 fragrance for me!

Fantastic combination of Creed with opening of eucalyptus, pine and rose, evolves little and goes towards a floral drying woody very comfortable to wear, it is a very fine fragrance, it has class.
I get the feeling that the residual is a tremendous smell of the narcotic flower of ylang or a thin jasmine that surrounds you, daytime and very unisex at the same time.
    I loved it.

Royal Mayfair is quite an original yet absolutely lovely woody floral fragrance from Creed. It’s fresh, clean, green and camphoraceous with the best eucalyptus note I’ve found in a perfume so far. The opening is fairly sharp and coniferous, but the softness of the rose and the slight sweetness of the citruses bring an elegant balance to the composition. The long lasting drydown stays beautifully clean and smoothly woody with a hint of white flowers adding complexity. Masterpiece quality!

Royal Mayfair is thus far my favorite Creed. But the funny part, is that I have yet to own this. I have been living off a few samples generously given to me by my Holt Renfrew sales associate. This Creed is simply a masterpiece. That sharp gin and eucalyptus opening, followed by some Duke of Windsor rose lime, and some Canadian Cedar in the dry down.
I have become obsessed over this fragrance for months and have always wondered why I have not obtained this gem. Perhaps price? It is pricey juice, just like Royal Oud, but one who adores this fragrance will enjoy and admire the true beauty of this scent. Wear it formal, wear it casual. Wear it when your moody and need some comfort (It works for me. It is kind of like a safety blanket)
One who appreciates the finer things in life (if you own a Creed you will know the feeling) will appreciate Royal Mayfair. I cannot even think of a clone or anything similar to this. Truly original and something that is relatively new, with the exception of the renaming of the original, Windsor. One of the only Creed’s I find has great and excellent longevity. This beats Aventus by a long run.
If this is what a vaulted Creed fragrance smells like, then I am tempted to break into that vault and see what else has been stashed away. Who’s with me?
I am going to give this a 11/10.
I think for me, 2018 will be the year I obtain this gem. I feel all the build up, the occasional scarce wearings, all the reviews I’ve seen and read, have been well worth it. Royal Mayfair is a Creed you need to be patient with. For me it was love at first sniff, and it would only be a matter of time until I get the chance to own this one. I could of bought this one awhile ago, but sometimes timing is everything and whilst this is one of the more expensive ones, a year has been enough time for me to wait and save up to want this one. The only hard part is picking what size bottle I want.

    classy, luxurious, and relaxing scent.
Very original with superb quality. Nothing smells close to its unique blend.
The opening is a bit medicinal but as the roses and woody notes start comming, it transforms brilliantly.
Should be used for special occasions when you are dressed up.
Unfortunalty, it doesnt smells as good on my skin but on clothes it goes smooth and pleasant.
    Longevity is very good.

  32. :

This extraordinary, distinguished fragrance opens with a nuclear blast of eucalyptus and pine that radiates continuously throughout the entire sequence of notes. After the first 30 minutes, and especially in colder weather, you begin to notice the sweet fecundity of a deep-red bouquet of Windsor roses.
The feminine rose accord recedes after an hour, allowing the eucalyptus and pine to reign in full masculine glory for 6-8 hours before settling down into a mildly camphorous, woodsy musk, which can last well up to a week on fabric. Interestingly, the rose tends to become infused into some forms of fabric to such a degree that you can smell it for weeks up close.
I believe this to be the most unique of all Creed fragrances and therefore signature-scent worthy, even if its uniqueness comes at the price of polarization. That said, it still has a way of converting its detractors after they’ve had a few occasions to get better acquainted with its idiosyncratic charm.
    Scent: 10/10
    Sillage: 9/10
Longevity: 6-8 hours on skin, 7 days on fabric
    Uniqueness: 10/10
    Variation: summer (pine), winter (rose)

If anyone is sampling this; this is one that I didn’t like at first, thought it smelled like plastic and too medecinal.
I got another sample by accident, and now is in my top 3 fragrances out of 80.
It needs some time; when the bottle breaths, and is used for a while, the eucalyptus smooths out, and it’s perfectly blended with some pine; the rose just making an accord with the other notes, aromatically beautiful.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

This is a Creed I absolutely love! It’s very different and I do have to say, this one did take a few wearings in order to warm up to it. As most have said, very medicinal, but to me, not too cloying or offensive. The florals (eucalyptus and the rose) help balance that pine and gin opening beautifully. I’m on the fence with this one in terms of season wearing. I’d definitely say fall evening, and maybe spring, but certainly not summer.
This is a Creed you cannot blind buy. Most definitely one you should smell before buying. Price point; worth it. I don’t own a bottle of this, but I own a few samples. A Creed SA I know is very generous and knows my love for Royal Mayfair.
I’d even go and say this Creed is one I have no issues with. Longevity and sillage are great, and projection is superb. I have better times with this scent than I do with Aventus (shocking I know!)
I will own a bottle one day. Perhaps when my Creed collection dies down a bit (the downside to owning 120ml flacons, lol)
If you like Green Irish Tweed (my favorite Creed) you’ll like this. If you don’t like medicinal or boozy openings, you won’t like this.

Smells of a medicinal pine band-aid. I can’t stand this one. One of the few scents that I had to wash off. I don’t smell the rose, citrus, or anything other than pine/eucalyptus..this is a pass.

    A unique, perfectly balanced floral…
Extremely impressed by this one. I find it a wonderful floral which is completely unisex. Very classy and sophisticated smell.
The story goes that this is a re-interpretation of a previous Creed fragrance, which was allegedly created for the King of England, Edward VIII back in the 1930’s.
As for the smell… I get rose, even some violet, jasmine, along with juniper (the “gin” note) and citrus (the lime note). It is one of the nicest fragrances with rose that I have smelled, and I like it very much. I get a eucalyptus note also which gives it a balanced medicinal vibe.
I can see this as a formal fragrance, for a man or a woman. I also have to address the issue of price here. This is a fragrance supposedly made for royalty, and you almost have to be royalty to buy this! I personally have a sample decant of this, but it’s hard for me to invest that much money in a fragrance such as this. However undoubtedly it is brilliant and if a person has enough money to spare, I can see this being justified on smell, projection and performance. A very regal small which is floral yet balanced and sophisticated and is perfect for man or woman. I think it’s great. As with all Creed fragrances, do try on skin first, however I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in any way. In my opinion only worth the price if money is of no issue to you.

This is one of the most original fragrance from the house of Creed. It won’t remind you of anything else on the market, is beautifully blended to the perfection. It smells royal, very expensive and exceptional.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

To me, it has a unisex smell of eucalyptus, rose, cedar, clean musk, and the same black currant a lot of Creeds seem to have. It’s wonderfully unique and definitely something I could see being someone’s single, signature scent. Given that I’m a collector, I don’t really see myself buying a bottle because of that; it’s a fragrance that the people around you would have to grow to like more and more because they start to associate its unique smell with you, meaning you’d have to wear it almost daily. I don’t know if people would even think it’s the smell of a perfume until they realize that it’s always around when you’re around

This Creed is a special one. At first, sampling it made me think feminine, due to the floral and just overall I wasn’t a fan.
2-3 wears in, I start to appreciate the very strong gin opening and eucalyptus. Mixed beautifully with the sandalwood, and cedar, creates a magnificent scent. You’d have to like it to admire it and even wear it. It takes time, but if your a fan of any of these notes, or even a fan of the house, give it a go. This would be my favorite Creed ranked at #3. #2 for Aventus, and #1 for Green Irish Tweed. I can see why it has earned its royal status.

The opening burst is the strong gin note, but I was prepared for it, and sure enough it dried down to a dazzling floral-wood that somehow winds up smelling like pure, radiant jasmine/sandalwood with a very light musk (almost like honeysuckle – I also sometimes get a magnolia blossom aroma from this after it’s dried down) and – even though I know it has to be the rose/cedar/citrus accord as none of those notes are listed. Despite the evident florals, it’s grounded by what I assume is the eucalyptus and pine resin sufficiently to maintain its unisex appeal – though it’s so wonderfully blended I’d never know it just by smell. The blend here creates a complex concoction that can belie the true notes and smell vaguely, slightly different every time smell it.
Just remember not to judge it by that gin opening, which true to form (and true to the warnings of the salesman) will definitely be received as harsh by almost everyone (including myself). Give this the 10-15 minutes it needs to dry down.
This might be my favorite spring/summer Creed now (never thought I’d say that based on my fondness for VIW), absolutely amazing – and after the gin opening it dries down to a magnificent white-floral-cedar unisex, perfect for placing right in the middle between her scents and yours.
UPDATE: I agree with those below who said once you experience the opening and wear it a second time, knowing what to expect, the opening seems a lot less harsh and you can recognize more of the familiar notes behind the strong, gin splash of the first spray.

the smell of rose and jasmine play tug-o-war on this one.
    powdery sweet, coconut-y at drydown.
because i like eucalyptus, rose and jasmine, i find this fragrance very very nice.

First wearing: Initially this is a rubber / burnt plastic / medicine bomb. Then it calms down into a foresty scent. I didn’t get roses from this, maybe they will come out on another wearing? I got about 8 hours from this. The end-notes are where the orange comes out. I don’t know what to think of this right now. I need to wear it again.
Update: 04/15/17 I still never got roses from this. I like it, and I find it to be long-lasting, but it is very soft. So soft. A skin scent. This does not and will not project. Therefore, I’m not sure I would pay what this scent costs.

If you happen to love Molton Brown’s Gingerlily and want a perfume that smells just like it, Royal Mayfair is what you need. I’m definitely getting that regal British rose. I love the scent, but it’s not something I would wear in public as an 18 year old male.

It’s very easy to wear. No matter how much you use it will not be overpowering. But that’s also it’s downside. Because I find it quite weak. It doesn’t last very long. The smell itself is very pleasant. My wife and I both think it smells like jasmine. I guess the combination of eucalyptus and rose gives it that jasmine vibe. But I think GEDLIVE’s description of this frag is spot on. Instead of red rose as is given in the pyramid, he used the green rose description and I find it very well describes my experience of Royal Mayfair. I guess it’s very unisex, so ladies can easily wear it as well maybe even more so than the gents. I really wish it lasted a bit longer with better projection.
