This is not just another citrus cologne, this one is complex, just look at all the notes – white tobacco and even civet! Opens fresh and sparkling, then the flowers mix with the herbs, drying down to a creamy softness which deepens during the day. I wonder who the nose is, because this is some alchemy. It can be found for a very low price nowadays on the internet (mine was 8 euro) but in my opinion it is better than any niche perfumes I tried. Also in my opinion: unisex! Don’t miss out on this one.

Lovely bottle, with a quote from Shakespeares “Romeo & Juliet”. And here ends all happiness. Sprayed one or two times on my wrist and after a wisp of sweetish freshness it was gone. Hm. Ten sprays on my wrist then. Not a very nice smell, can’t quite mention why, but again, gone in seconds. Now after 7 hours I have to put my nose on my wrist to detect the faintest trace of the earlier mentioned sweetish freshness. Why there are such a ridiculous number of notes involved is a mystery. Nothing to impress.

I never tried any Romeo Gigli fragrances so I was curious and I bought this. Nice scent, more sweet-floral-woody rather than citrus on my skin, vaguely reminiscent of Pleasures by Lauder (indeed), but with no longevity and very poor sillage. I didn’t expect too much of it, considering the price. It needs reapplying throughout the day, because it fades pretty quickly, but it’s ok. I think it would do better indoors, spring, summer, maybe early fall. Very interesting bottle – thanks to the fellow fragrantican who mentions the Shakespeare quote; I couldn’t make out what the text on the back of the bottle says. Overall, a nice, safe blind-buy.

The little orange bottle that Ferminadaza mentions is most probably a different scent from Romeo Gigli, with the same name and from the same year: 2003. It is not in the database. I have both this Romeo Gigli, which does not have a colour, and the orange one. Both can easily be found on the net, as they are still largely available. Although they are both spring/summer scents, they do differ quite a bit.
Update: the orange bottle is added to the database and it is not from 2003, but 2012, apparently.

Hmm… I’ve read some of the other reviews, in fact they are what reassured me to make this blind buy. The little orange bottle that I have in my possession WISHES that it contained the supposed notes listed here on Fragrantica, lol.
carnation, white tobacco, iris? In what aromachemical fantasy! I smell a very very very very faint whispy could be interesting if it had some depth lemon with a tad bit herbal green.
No longevity…and no sillage. On my skin it turns to the faintest scent of public restroom hand soap and is completely gone in 15 minutes.
Worse yet, I’ve been looking for a summer lemon sherbet scent and someone had mentioned lemon sorbet. I’m getting none of that at all, not even for a minute.
Thankfully, I didn’t pay much on clearance so I guess that it will be a room spray.

    Golden Agrumes.
    Superfloral Citrus Woody.
    Pleasures (Lauder) style.
    Nice for summer.
    Nothing specil.

Nice summer fragrance. In my opinion nothing special, but if you’re looking for something with citrus notes and you don’t like to risk, pick this one as it’s very affordable. Would never wear it in the cold weather as it’s too summery. The lasting power could be improved.

Starts very sparkling, crisp, fresh, grapefruity. Then turns more and more soft and sweet even a bit powdery. The dry down is very subtle and close to the skin. Nice bottle!

In the duty-free in airports one can run into the most forgotten and obscure scents…It is in an airport that I found Romeo again.
To my nose there are a few scents passing by in this most charming bottle: an aura of CK Eternity, a dash a DKNY, a hint of Manifesto…yet there is more, an underlying herbaceous nature that is aromatic and very relaxing without being medicinal. It is in fact a very pretty and well kept herbal garden with a citric aura.
Romeo Gigli Profumi has -on my skin- a lot of faces, but in the drydown it shows its true face; a multi faceted beauty that although at times (and no doubt on certain chemistries) seems fleeting, is a well crafted and very elegant Italian seducer, a Romeo that delights with soft kisses and a tender touch that beautifies and refreshes the olfactory sense.
A scent perfect for the office, or any other place/occasion where one wants to smell nice without that it fills the room. A bed-time scent or an: “I am not in the mood for a ‘perfumy’ smell yet I wanna smell fresh like I just came back from a long walk in the wind and passed some herbal gardens”
Romeo Gigli will give you just that; one beautiful and tender whiff at a time.
The bottle is a thing of beauty all on its own — Why? Well….I have a LOT of perfumes, but none with a Shakespeare quote from Romeo & Juliet on it. Just for that I had to have this one (again) in my collection!
Romeo and Juliet: Act 3, Scene 2:
“Spread thy close curtain, love-performing night,
That runaways’ eyes may wink and Romeo
Leap to these arms, untalk’d of and unseen.
Lovers can see to do their amorous rites
    By their own beauties”
    Silage is: a tender Romeo…what else? — Longevity is….act 1, 2 and, very lightly into act 3. Enjoy! ; )

Romeo Gigli isn’t exactly the perfume that one would fall in love with. It’s not unique, but most of the modern, lately released, perfumes are not unique, they smell alike!
So, Romeo Gigli is a safe, nice choice for an everyday perfume (smells a bit like O d’ Azour and it’s initial blast reminds me that of Miss Boucheron, it’s sharp).
What is more, it’s a GOOD quality perfume, it changes over time, it becomes softer and sweet with the time. If you can’t stand acute smells though, avoid.
    ADD:
It’s a sweetened ESTEE LAUDER- PLEASURES.
I am impressed that they are so SO similar!
Yes I know, the ingredient list is very different but I’m smelling on my wrist Pleasures right now and I smelled Romeo Gigli just few mins ago.
My daughter’e English teacher wears Pleasures for years. When I first smelled Romeo Gigli, I immediately thought of her, now I know why, haha.

I fell in love with this fragrance in 2003 and continue to buy it. I find it changes subtly the longer you wear it, probably body chemistry?

I think I’ll have to try this again some other day because today I just get “4711 Cologne” with slightly more longvity. 0_o
    Hormones or what?

I agree with Sassy1 that this perfume has a very distinct sugary lemon smell, and it reminds me of lemon sherbet. I too was expecting it to be a lot sleeker and perhaps more Continental smelling so when I first smelled it I wasn’t too sure about it. However, it is a nice, fresh, pleasant perfume. The staying power isn’t great so it seems to fade quite quickly. Overall though, a nice perfume that’s good for wearing on bright, sunny days and it would also be ideal in the workplace because it’s so light and fresh that I doubt it could offend anybody!

I always find Romeo Gigli’s perfume collections smells strong but not overpowering and of course unique. Reading about the ingredients, it makes me wonder it must smells strong but also refreshing. Floral, green and spicy element I supposed it all blend perfectly.

With all those green spices in the top why am I only getting a slightly lemony lollipop sweet? The verbena must be overshadowing everything else. I am starting to get a little of the orange now, but no florals or wood to be found.
It’s definately not what I expected . Based on the ad picture I was looking for something with a little more edge to it. And frankly, with the name Romeo Gigli, something a little more sleek and Mediterrean.
It’s just ok…I’ll try it again later and see if it comes off the same.

I am also surprised at how many are supposedly in this, its quite a fresh and somewhat wimpler perfume than the notes imply. It starts witha blast of herbal verbena and rosemary, which very quickly softens and I smell more bergamot and bitter orange. It sweetens a tiny bit now and I can smell some florals, with that herbal undertone still there. It stays very close to the skin and it’s not very strong so Im really straining my nose to detect it shortly agterwards, Unfortunately by the time the base notes should appear this has softened to a whisper of scent.

What can i say more than the reviewers told it so correct, a great, not a common sent, very special, sour notes with sweet notes.I can’t find it here in Holland. I’am so glad i own it now.
If you want a good replacement for givenchy play, this one is a good choice.
    Great perfume!!

I agree with tommy_girl – not your regular green floral, definitely does not smell ordinary nor cheap.
I like it a lot – a translucent green, like a water in a waterlily pond. Very calming, not sharp in any way, both fresh and inviting – made me smell my wrist all the time I was wearing it! It sits close to the skin, and it was a very pleasant experience for me – usually green notes are not very good for me.For such a complicated perfume it smells like a noble simplicity.Perfect.

today in the shop is saw a luxury golden & black box for a pretty good price and it was Romeo Gigli.I checked the bottle to see the house behind it and I saw that it’s from an Italian company.
the smell was all about lime and green notes at the first sniff.I fell in love immediately.because it wasn’t cheap nor frequent green note to my nose.
I don’t smell strong floral scents.it’s very light, not woodsy neither.
in fact I didn’t expect to see so many notes that I see here!to me it’s just light, with very sincere green notes.I’m not sure if the long lasting power is very good.but the bottle and box are just a wow!
