I’m missing this so much. The year it came out it was my signature summer scent.
It was not citrusy fresh like so many summer scents, but rather gave the vibe of a warm summer evening. You know when you walk back home after a whole day in the sun with plenty of dips in the water and applying and reapplying sun lotion plus some light fruity EdT.
I still don’t know what ‘sand’ is exactly supposed to smell like, but this was warm yet summery with a slight hint of fruit without being zesty at the same time.
And yes, I adored the color scheme of that bottle. Went through two of them before it was not available anymore.
Again, I’m missing this a lot. So hoping they’ll bring it back one day.

I love it!! To me it smells like Harajuku Lovers Wicked Baby mixed with Curve Kicks burried into hot beach sand which has a suncreen residual on it!! Magical scent that brings me to the beach and all possible good associations with the beach! Although I dislike the sea, this perfume completely changes my mind!
P.S. Actually, I didn’t expect it to be so good from the price and the brand. It really surprised me!
Edit: but I will never repurchase it because it has absolutely no projetion.

I bought this perfume in a late August on a rainy and unusually cold day. For me, it is perfect for an early autumn day when it drizzles a bit, and I want to to feel the summer breeze again. The scent of warm sandy beach and sunlight in a bottle. Longevity is fair, up to six hours. But even after that, when a wind blows, i can feel the light smell of the perfume.

I just ordered it because I like the design, this is the same bottle like Naturelle or Collection Été 2014… so I wanted it for my collection. I was extremely surprised, it smells so good, sweet and delicate, perfect for the office not overwhelming scent just what it takes to feel and stay “fresh” I love it, will buy it again for sure 😉

This is not a fresh scent. Don’t know what sand is supposed to smell like, but probably not this.. I get more of a chocolatey, sweet feel from this. Like MsWinkssy says, it’s “after a day at the beach” rather than “ocean fresh”. That said, it’s different! Got it cheap, so no complaints.

This was a blind buy and I just sprayed it on. I was all like, “hey wait a minute, have I had this before?!”, and then I just sniffed for a minute and then I was all like,” ah ha! Eau de monteil!”. That was a love of mine once that I’ve been considering rekindling lately but not wanting to spend the clams. This is close enough for the incredible price!

I would agree with those that say this is not really a fresh beachy scent. It more makes me think of the end of a long day spent at the beach. You put your sunscreen on, had a few dips in the ocean, sand is everywhere and now your lying, drying off in the afternoon sun. Sillage and longeveity are better than I thought from reviews here but I use about 5 sprays (more than I typically would). I really enjoy this especially for the bargain price I got it for!

You know how there are now these sodas that aren’t just diet, they’re ultra diet? This is zero calorie Womanity. It smells like bubblegum, salt, sand and sunscreen.
The first few minutes are an ultra fruity, orangey bubblegum smell making me think there might be orange blossom in here. Then the bergamot comes in and adds some bitterness and Retropical is less sticky, but still sweet.
The dry down is more musky with a slightly mineral feel from the sand note. The sunscreen smell isn’t coconutty.. again, it’s making me think orange blossom or some other sort of white floral.
I like this quite a bit and I can see myself wearing it frequently over the upcoming summer months.

To be honest I bought this perfume for all the wrong reasons. It was on sale for $10, the bottle was pretty, and it seemed to have all the notes I hated ( I was looking to branch out).
I was very very surprised at how much I love this! I smell flowers in here, even though there aren’t any in the notes. Some large, ripe, blooming flower, like a magnolia or even a tiare flower. Once on the skin, there’s some mixture of dry, warm sand and musk with just a drop of juice from a a mandarin orange. Very appropriate summer scent, and I am absolutely blown away by how much I love the salty sand in here!
Sillage and longevity are much better than what the other reviews on here had led me to believe. Worthwhile purchase if you like chic summer scents that are a little different!

I’m somewhat disappointed with this. It smells like soap to me. It’s a fruity and powdery (or sandy or dusty?) like combination of baby powder, Dove moisturizing soap, and fruity lotion. I don’t get anything floral either. I enjoy the previous edition; Jardin des Nymphes, a lot more. Retropical is ho-hum to me.

Refreshing fragrance like many typical catalog’s fragrance with citruses. I’m not impressed(

Bought it today, because I gave it a try and it created a very nice summery-beachy mood. I agree with those who say it has extremely poor sillage and longevity, especially since I have Naturelle and Jarden des Nymphes, and those are strong and long-lasting compared to this one. But at present I like this one better. The earlier summer version (the peachy one) was too sweet and cloying. I also noticed that when I can’t detect the scent on my skin, it still hits me in waves from time to time from my hair. Nice!
Update: After wearing this on a number of occasions I noticed a few interesting things. First of all, the longevity and sillage gets better with every occasion (than at first time), however incredible it might seem. Secondly, my favourite part is not the citrus-orange top notes, but the “sand” kind of feeling (I wouldn’t call it a note, it’s too weird). This is what creates the tropical atmosphere: a really warm sand feeling, which is – another surprise – very much like butter on my skin, or in my personal aura. Actually, despite the numerous negative remarks, it kind of replaced my earlier favourite tropical perfume, JLo’s Miami Glow. Much more subtle, and if you can believe Yves Rocher’s policy, much more natural in ingredients as well. I’m already sorry for it being a limited edition.

I got it today, lovly summer scent. Light and the drydown is warm and a musky/vanillia ( SAND???)The bergmot is always in the background, I would say that is a safe scent and light enough for office as well as a day out. I also got the maching lotion and handbag 😉 love it!

I like this scent. It is good for summer. It is quite a
Ight scent, that is true, but very nice. It smells lke a day at the beach-fruity with a prominent sand note. I do not think its boring, most fruity summer scents lack this note, making this perfume unique IMO. The bottle is simple but pretty.

I just want to comment on the fact some people complain about poor longevity and low sillage with this and other fragrances. If you live somewhere that has hot and humid summers, you don’t want a perfume that is too strong or long lasting. So, I’m always on the lookout for light fragrances like this one for summer.

    Juliette Karagueuzoglou:
‘Retropical Eau de Toilette radiates both a sunny and sensual freshness. Its top notes are fruity and aquatic – they sparkle like crystal clear laughter. Refined and heady, its choral of floral notes are a true tropical evasion. Its warm and woodsy end notes evoke the sun’s delicious caress on your skin.’ “

Well,I have many parfumes from Yves Rocher but this one is the most dissapointing I have seen untill now.It is a mistake…I am sorry to tell that…

Omg, this is so boring scent! Okay, it is edt but still, the longevity is so poor, less than 30 minutes. Overall the scent is very soft anyway. I can also smell the sand and little bit of mandaring orange and also other fruits, but not in the bubbly fresh fruit kind of way, but more like dried fruits. I looked forward to this and was so disappointed! Eww, musty fruits and smell of dirt, no thanks.

Sadly very disappointed by this one. Not a sweet, refreshing orange scent as I’d expected, more of a muddy orange-rind smell, with hints of sugared pineapple cubes on a sandy coconut base.
Quite heavy and long lasting, but without much projection. Fairly linear and flat, rather than fresh & zesty.

    @Carolinealgot
There are many other perfumes that have sand as a note, including:
    Bobbi Brown – Beach
    Paris Hilton – Tease
    Demeter – Ocean
    Burberry – Burberry Sport Ice
    Clean – Summer Escape
Guess – Guess Seductive Homme Blue

Nice and easy to please. A bit romantic, a bit of holiday. I see this more for young girls and it’s nothing special – just easy fun.

I’ve only tried the shower gel; Synthetic fruity, boring. I’m not sure I can even bear to shower with it. Unless the eau de toilette is vastly better, I’m so glad I didn’t waste my money on it.

First I get Solero ice cream, then a whiff of coconut sun lotion over warm skin. My skin smells like if I’ve been out in the sun all day, but I don’t need perfume for that… It is nice, but on a hot summer day I prefer a perfume with more freshness. The beachy interpretation is quite accurate anyhow!

Tested it today. And it’s rather disappointing…
It’s nice, but just Ok , like a nice body spray. It’s the kind of scent which is easily likable for everyone, but also the kind I easily get bored with…
The other Yves Rocher limited editions with that bottle shape were better in my opinion except one ( don’t remember which one ) that smelled like gummy bears.
    I really don’t think I’ll buy.

How can it be floral fruity when there is no floral in it?

The notes in this look really promising, especially the sand.
