Psychedelique is an extremely smooth patchouli composition. Very high quality, but a bit too smooth for me is all I can say. I didn’t realize that I prefer a somewhat rougher patchouli until I encountered this fragrance.

    Patchouli – amber – spicy
    Color impression: deep dark green
Patchouli used by hippies to cover up smell of some drugs with profound odor; weeds for example. This fragrance clearly conjures up the image of 60’s and pictures heavy smell of patchouli on unwashed body.
Psychédélique unfurls like dynamite with huge blast of gourmand dark sweetness of the grass, slightly juiced by citruses. A weird amber accord, accentuated by rose, joins the party and gives it a sinister charm. That is why this perfume is a great compliment-bringer.

I love this patchouli dominant scent. To me it is like Coromandel or L’Ombre Fauve, but mostly maybe because all three have a very high quality patchouli in them. I wish it were louder, but then I wish all perfumes were…a very good one.
Second testing: I guess I only notice bcause I am testing side by side with others, but the rose is pretty prominent in this perfume. Not overwhelming, but as someone who is sensitive to anything rose, I worry this may be too rosey for me in the long run…

I’m a bit disappointed. Psychedelique is simultaneously inconsistent and boring. If I spray it on both of my wrists, the other one smells like yummy chocolatey patchouli and the other like something that has been soaking in a swamp. In general, it’s straightforward patchouli. Sometimes more dirty, sometimes more gourmand, but it’s still patch and not much else.
Objectively speaking it smells allright (when it isn’t full-on on the “swamp thing” mode), but it doesn’t evoke any emotion. It doesn’t speak to me. Wearing it feels more like a chore than a pleasure. I think Patchouli Precieux by Les Nereides is a better choice if you’re looking for something in a similar vein.
Mediocre performance. Lasts for a good while, but the weak sillage after the impressive opening makes the longevity pretty pointless.

I was looking for one great patchouli fragrance to add to a complete colection.
Dyptique being my favorite house I chose the new patch frag, Tempo.
I think Tempo is more luminous, and versatile, unique patch fragrance.
Psychedelique is a very smooth and pleasant, warm Patchouli. It stays true to the Patchouli scent, and smooths it out with vanilla, and some slightly sweet balsamic notes.
I don’t think it’s very creative like Diptyque’s Tempo. But I like how this stays true to the patchouli scent, and just makes it very warm, rich and refined.
This is like YSL M-7 done with Patchouli vs Oud.
This is in the realm of Dior’s Patchouli Imperial. Chanel’s Coromandel, gets feminine, and veers to far away from a true Patchouli scent.
OK, the Labdanum is comming through now, so it’s a patch and Labdanum accord, mostly patch.
I think Patchouli Imperial has more of a patch scent than this, but may be a bit more challenging as well.
Psychedelique is a very warm and friendly patch, best for Winter or Fall.
I have enough great balsamic fragrances for Winter, so I proberbly will not be purchasing it. But I know it’s a lot of people’s #1 patchouli fragrance. I can see why, it’s very warm and pleasant Patchouli, with a bit of the ruff edges smoothed over.
The name Psychedelique, you can imagine this is going to be wild and creative, but it’s kind of borring and uncreative for me. It’s just a smooth Amber and Patchouli,, with sweet vanilla. There are no piquant notes, that would add something interesting, like a little spice or something.

A BIG patch fragrance! The opening sillage is BIG! Once it settles then it is a softish patch/amber and vanilla scent. Finally the patch eases and you detect a little creamy musk and brightness from the citrus and floral notes.
I’m a big fan of patch so I’m happy but it is very similar to some other patch centered scents that I already own. My fave is still Reminiscence Elixir which is much more interesting. I think it’s the chilli that makes it such an intense experience. I think you need that with patch. The geranium here just doesn’t provide enough kick. It needs more. I have to admit the dry down is great for me because finally you can detect most of the notes and they work beautifully together.
    Good sillage and longevity.

    Amber – patchouli – floral
    Color impression: dark caramel
No surprise to see Psychédélique is hit of Jovoy. This perfume give all a niche customer needs at once. Amber hints, daring warm patchouli with headshop effect mixed with luxury render, resinous and softly animalic to give it divinity. It’s a win-win perfume with enormous sillage and longevity.

I’m currently sampling this and am deep in a ‘love/not sure I can take it relationship’ with it. Rich, earthy, chocolatey, full throttled, unabashed patchouli frag. I’m rolling with it, like I’m rolling gleefully in dry leaves in a forest in autumn, enjoying the bracing robust joy of it (not that I’ve never done this mind)… But then; “ok the soil is up my nose now, not sure I like it anymore”….
… Then I go back for furtive sniffs from time to time like a pig snuffling for truffles….
So….. This might not be the one but this little piggy (how did I get to that metaphor!) will find the right patch frag.

While wearing this I was asked if I was wearing Calvin Klein’s Obsession. Its been quite a while since I have worn that one, but I remember how lovely I though it was at the time. I would say that this scent has some similarities to it. So, I’m not mad. So if you liked Obsession you would probably definitely like this one.

The top and middle phases of this fragrance are glorious: hairy, dank and musty like a pile of old books languishing in a corner of a Portland gift shop where the sweaty, young cashier hangs out on lunch breaks. It’s got that shamelessly over-the-top witchy/sexual sleepaway camp quality that so many scents aim for but miss and I’m so into it.
It’s the drydown that doesn’t play well with my chemistry; there’s a distinct plastic-y stench that’s left behind, like a candle melting on some electrical wires. What a shame.
For your money, this is the best patchouli out there. For mine, I wish it were.

three tiny spritzes knocked me out; a very herbal, dry almost-incense in the opening that turns to patchouli galore, not the hippie head shop kind but the real herb patchouli with a little warmth of amber to it

It is one of the Patchouli’s best.

I hated it’s opening.maybe because it was too heavy and in your face dirty, wet patchouli or because I hate labdanum and I could smell lots of it.I was hesitant to wash it off or not.thanks god I gave it enough time to settle down and completely change my mind
First 10-15 minutes is loud, completely masculine with a heavy dose of labdanum but gradually labdanum fades away and amber grounds patchouli and softens it.in this stage I start to like it and see it as something unisex(but leans more towards being masculine)
As time passes it becomes better and better.patchouli and amber are main actors here but vanilla plays an important balancing role too.vanilla isn’t too sweet and it doesn’t cover other notes,it rounds them, balances it’s dark bitterness and adds a gourmand undertone.in drydown patchouli isn’t wet anymore,it’s dry and has a dark chocolatey/cacao powder vibe which is very appealing.psychedelique in it’s drydown, which lasts with you for hours,is a warm almost creamy scent with a touch of powder. It has enough of smokey, spicy and boozy facets to keep this balsamic scent interesting but not too much to be overwhelming.I can’t smell geranium in it but there’s a hint of something I see as rose.I also can’t detect much of musk but it’s the first time I’m trying it on my skin
It’s a mature scent, sophisticated but it’s non sweet, gourmand undertone give it a modern twist too.it’s quality is touchable and it’s also seductive
If you like patchouli, amber fragrances it’s a must try for you.longevity and sillage won’t let you down

Just WOW, lol…Dark, smoking hot patchouli dipped in moldy amber, with a bit skunky, dirty, not soapy musk and warm spicy chocholate; dark, sultry and sexy fragrance… Very evocative and erotic scent, IMO. And, ehhh,… I want a bottle!

Purchased a sample of this EDP and wore it all day. I’m not disappointed in the fragrance; not in love. In general, I had another “meh” experience.
I am beginning to think I may be anosmic to rose & floral notes (notes I seek in darkness, only when combined with wood resins, musk, earthy notes), ESPECIALLY when rose is blended with dense woods (oud, amber), or strong plants (patchouli, vetiver) or spices, I fail to detect ROSE!. Once again for me, the promise of a “complex, rose & floral patchouli fragrance” ended on a linear, rather singular note…straightforward patchouli.
Psychedelique definitely opens with a sweet, STRONG, candied-booze note (like many Jovoys) and I even thought I detected honey & chocolate at one point (honey…a note I REALLY dislike in fragrance). Within literally 5 minutes or less, the fragrance develops into a very heady, deep, dark & STRONG patchouli, again with notes of amber, candied honey & a wee-bit of musk…very bold & dark, rich. After 15-20 minutes or so, I “thought” I detected some rose or other floral but the notes (if present) seemed fleeting.
Throughout the dry-down, I detected wafts of that elusive floral…a very deep, dark resinous rose cloaked in amber & smoke, almost incense like…but wafts only…not sure. As the fragrance evolved, I smelled patchouli & amber over any other note or scent.
Overall, this is a nice fragrance; however for me, it developed into a very linear, non-complex patchouli that reminded me of the stuff we all sniffed 35 years ago in head-shops.

Psychédélique is yet another excellent fragrance from the house of Jovoy.
Admittedly, I’m not quite sold on the opening salvo. Perhaps much of that is down to a predisposition to disliking vanilla-based scents, but while it does smell decidedly natural here (from the pod rather than lab), it’s laid on fairly thick. It’s almost as if its inclusion was mainly as a masking agent for the patchouli’s rougher facets, which I can only describe as being oddly gravel-y in this composition (albeit still packs a punch).
Not the best of starts, then, though things get decidedly better – much better. The patchouli gradually softens up, the vanilla switches to booze mode and you begin to get hits of gourmand notes that suggest white chocolate, custard and honey. To my delight, this sweet phase isn’t over the top; the florals probably see to that, with an ever reliable rose as a partner working well, and though I struggle to isolate the geranium it’s probably what’s most responsible for lifting away some of the heaviness on board (and would surely have ended my interest).
When the amber joins in is when Psychédélique has its breakthrough moment. Resinous and salty-sweet, it binds the fragrance with an at once familiar caressing warmth. There it stays to the drydown, part of a well-balanced mix of incumbent notes that maintain their gleam.
    Big thumbs up.

I just got a sample of this and wow! I had flirted with patchouli oils from head shops as a teen, my leather bike jacket was probably waterproof due to saturation but I grew up and moved on.
I was quite impressed by its punch, luckily it is really nice! I have a dislike of vanilla as a smell/flavour as its usually overdone sickly sweet and makes me genuinely nauseous. In this it balances out the patchouli nicely,I can’t pretend to be able to seperate out all the notes but they all seem to combine this into a lovely rich scent that’s a long way off smelling like some hippy biker chick. Not that I was completely averse to a wee bit of nostalgia but I am pleasantly surprised and am enjoying it in its own right.
It certainly seems to have a fairly typical patchouli-longevity but the other notes are being carried along with the it. Not one for the fainthearted, I tried on one squirt on an arm and had a bubble of spicyness surround me for a good couple of feet for the rest of the afternoon.

I agree, this is pure love. It is quite possible that I now have THE patchouli scent that I’ve been searching for. Dark, sweet, thick, smoky patchouli-amber with unquestionable quality of ingredients. Sillage is about medium on me and longevity impressive, over 12 hours on my cardigan and still going strong. The labdanum and musk play supporting roles and show up more frequently in the drydown than the opening. Having done a side by side comparison with Reminiscence Patchouli and Patchouli Elixir, although the Rems being gorgeous patchouli in their own right, do not hold a candle to the opulent and intriguing Psychedelique. Not on my skin at least. What a beautiful name for a beautiful scent. I have ended my search for the perfect patchouli for me here.

Earthy patchouli, warm amber, bittersweet geranium, I can also detect tobacco leaves, leather and vanilla. It’s not sweet gourmand, but Psychedelique feels so warm, so pleasant, so comforting, very much like something edible – chocolate cake or truffle. Or like a cosy antique armchair. The only downside is that the scent doesn’t develop – what you get from the first sniff is what stays with you for five to six hours.

In this day and age, fragrances are not so much about a single note being expressed in a certain way. It’s just that one note can sometimes stand out like a fly in a glass of milk.
Psychedelique is all about patchouli and this earthy note pairs up wonderfully with vanilla. This scent is no exception. The sweetness of the vanilla contrasting with the wet earth of the patchouli make this a scent a great night out fragrance for when you want to be noticed. As with all Jovoy scents, this one blasts out at the top of its voice and wants to be noticed.
For anyone who likes power houses, earthy scents and certainly with a bit of sweetness, you have certainly found a friend in Psychedelique!

    Woodstock patch gone psychedelically elegant…
If you aren’t a patch lover, Psychedelique will make you reconsider. I have sampled other fragrances from the Jovoy house (i.e., La Liturgie des Heures, Private Label, and Les Jeux Sont Faits) and so far this is the best one yet. This patch concoction is elegant and attractive. The combination of notes makes the patch feel as if it has been dunked in sweet chocolate.
Psychedelique is mystic, comforting, intriguing, savory, and opulently dark. The amber takes the patch to a higher realm and the rest of the ingredients give the patch a sweet chocolate vibe.
When the top notes begin to dissipate a little, Psychedelique reminds me to an extend of Chanel Coromandel. This amber-patch combination in Psychedelique, however, is a little more suitable for men who may find Coromandel a little too sweet.
    Longevity and silage above average.
Me want a full bottle now.

A great fragrance for amber and patchouli lovers.
Sweet, dark, and smoky accords of amber and patchouli.
This fragrance start with sweet note of amber and citrus notes in background.
Then smoky and heavy note of patchouli with sweet note of vanilla come to stage. And they become balance with sexy and flowery notes of rose, geranium.
After that the smell will not change and we warm and sweet mix of patchouli and vanilla in base of amber and musk.
This fragrance has a high level of quality and also price tag.
    Perfect choice for cold weather.
Good power of sillage and longevity.

Jovoy Psychedelique is really quite interesting!
It started off with a wet dirt scent that reminded me of the demeter or cb i hate perfume accord and fresh patchouly. I assumed it was going to stay a pretty linear patchouly scent but alas it has had a pretty interesting development. A warm amber emerged throughout the first hour and the ‘dirt’ smell has amost vanished. The vanilla has been fairly strong throughout but supportive in a very ‘pretty’ way. It has been on me now for over six hours and i am getting something that smells like carnation and I think I like this part best so far but have ultimately really enjoyed the perfumes evolution!
