I had a chance to meet Stefania, the lovely lady who owns the Limonero Perfume Shop in Gubbio and created this perfume in an attempt to collect all the nature smells of her region, Umbria.
She was very eager to share the story of the fragrance and how she chose the notes from every part of the region, in order to offer visitors of Umbria a precious olfactive memory of their voyage.
    So here it goes:
a base of yellow fragrant flowers, namely Broom (the most dominant note, which smells a bit like mimosa to my nose), Linden blossom and Acacia. Flowers are literally blooming upon first spray, in all their fresh and wet richness. A whiff of herby Lavender and dry Hay lend a cologney edge to the composition, similar to fresh air, just to remind us that we are in the country and not in a flower shop.
But the most interesting part is in the basenotes, where the traditional woods are replaced by the nutty consistence of chestnuts. Chestnut isn’t clearly detectable at first spray, but it gradually grows into this spring-time bouquet until it envelops everything in a velvety, soft and slightly powdery fall cloud.
Chestnut extends its presence outside the bottle, too, because Stefania symbolically chose to use chestnut wood for the cap: over time, like all woods, the wooden cap changes to a deep chestnut colour, thereby treasuring the fragrance history and the place of this bouquet in our memories.
I was really impressed by this fragrance and I hope you have a chance to smell it!
