Description

“White Collection” In The Garden of Good & Evil by the house of By Kilian presents the fourth edition this year, called Playing With The Devil, inspired by forbidden fruit interpreted in modern, imaginative way. The concept of god and evil is recognized in this composition in which on the one side the creator offers sweet, fruity tamed accord sprinkled with insolence and lecherous heat of resin and hot spices.

Composition of Playing with the Devil wins you over at first glance with charm of its zests of litchi, sweet and gently spiced notes of blood orange, black currant and velvety white peach. The sweet fruity start is “shaken” with a spicy blend of pimento and pepper to accentuate the splendor of rose and jasmine flowers in the heart of the composition. The coarser nature is provided to the floral-spicy blend by woody notes of sandalwood, cedar and patchouli that give the depth and darker shades. The composition is again tamed by warm resinous notes of benzoin and smoky tonka, further softened by velvety vanilla. Perfumer who signed the composition is Calice Becker.

Playing with the Devil of the collection of In The Garden of Good and Evil is available in a white flacon with golden color details 50ml EDP and in refill flacon 50ml EDP.
Playing With The Devil was launched in 2013.

Sometimes I think, “Okay, I have enough peach scents.”
Then I smell something like this and I think, “Nope. I need another one.”
If you love peaches this is SO good. It’s a very sweet peach with the lychee (which I love) and the currant (which is honestly not my fave but here it really works – it adds such a juicy sweetness).
It’s a fruitchouli, yes – but done so gorgeously IMO. I want to smell this on a summer night.
I get more patch than others seem to – I definitely detect it in the background, but not so much with the pimento. Surprised it’s not listed higher in the notes.
Interesting that some people say it smells like BO on them. That doesn’t happen to me, but I actually can see why people think that – something about the drydown is slightly reminiscent of a not-really-dirty armpit, but one with deodorant on. So not a full funk but maybe someone who should jump in the shower at the end of a long day… I dunno, I think it’s sexy. I want a full bottle of this one!

Peaches apparently take to my skin very well. As does currant. On some people peaches = b.o and currant = cat urine.
I’ve been avoiding Kilian fumes for a while now, ever since I smelled “Cruel Intentions” and felt assaulted.
I received a sample of this one from a lovely SA from a luxury boutique and gave it a blind go on my wrists. At first I got a splash of synthetic peach, very sweet and smelling like peach koolaid, not so realistic. After it started to transform once it was settling – black currant, peach, musk, lychee and warm creamy woods. This fume shines in its drydown and has lasting power (over 48hrs on my skin).
I wore it for 3 days in a row and decided that I need this fume in my collection, as I am also a fan of another peachy concoction (gucci rush) that is more spicy, while this is like a feminine musky peach scent. Actually, quite beautiful.
This coming from someone who primarily wears scents heavy on patchouli, dark woods, oud, dark rose and smoke. I’d recoil at the thought of this years ago, but now… a must for spring and summer. Light, airy, femme, sweet, innocent.
    PS for some reason…
This blended with Tom Ford – Neroli Portofino is MAGIC. Try and see.

i bought this perfume such a long time ago at first i really felt it smelled like some sort of fruit punch and way too sweet ,i just didn´t give it a chance, now NOW it feels amazing is all peach, all fruit and all luxury emphasis on the luxurious this feels and smells rich nothing glade or sanitizing about this one , in fact when i put my nose down to smell my wrist i almost can feel the peach fuzz of a ripe apricot and it is amazing .
i don´t smell ANY BO all i smell is fruit an a creamy drydown , i guess i needed more time to fully appreciate this one ,i am glad i revisited.

    Soapy, rosy lychee.
It’s more of a lychee than peach, with doses of soapy note, and black current. It has roses, sandalwood, jasmines, salt, cedar, patchouli, & pepper.
Although i get whiffs from peaches, but i just wish that it is more peachy and more fruitti than salty and soapy. It’s fine, but there are a much better peach, & black currant fragrances than this one here.

Just got this perfume yesterday. It’s a high quality juice no doubt, well rounded, intense, balanced and rich. It is a composition that plays around main accords of blackcurrant, florals and woody creamy base with sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, benzoin and vanilla. I would say it’s definitely on the sweet site but not sickening, the fruits and woods on the background create wonderful slightly fresher base. I don’t think it’s a seasonal fragrance, it would be appropriate to wear any season when keeping the amount of sprays moderate. It definitely has Kilian’s signature tones, very powerful, long lasting, loud and sexy. I’m planning on mixing it with citrusy fresh fragrances for summer as the creamy woodiness and sweetness is a bit overpowering for my liking

My girlfriend hates it. She said it smells like BO. I on the other hand love it. I do understand what she’s saying but it’s the peach smell that has her confused. I purchased Liaisons Dangereuses for her instead. She loves that but I really don’t like the plum mixed with florals. I really like Playing with the Devil more so I’ll just used the samples I got from Saks while I’m working at home

Scent – playful mix of litchi, black currant, & tart peach.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
    Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 4hrs consistently

It starts out distinctively sweet, like fruity candy. It becomes more sophisticated as it opens up on your skin, and the the sweetness largely goes away. There is something about it that reminds me of ‘All About Eve’ by Joop! — it may be the same forbidden apple reference.
As far as sweeter, fruity perfumes go, this one is rather unique because it is so well-balanced and not overdone at all. I think that most consumers don’t appreciate how hard it is to make a perfume like that. Having said that, it is not a particularly memorable perfume to me, unlike some other Kilian perfumes — I am looking at you, Smoke for the Soul.
I don’t get the BO note that others have mentioned — if anything, I wish it had more sensuality to it. I have gone to orchards / farms to go fruit-picking in the summer, and it smells like what the car smells like after you have had all the fresh peaches, black currants, blackberries and apples in it. It will add that I get less blackburrant and more apple / peach / apricots than others.
I recommend this for anyone who wants the most elegant fruity fragrance out there.

I get the BO smell at the opening as well. After about 30 minutes it seems to dissipate. When I first sprayed it I laughed because it smelled so bad/naughty….I just had to try in on my skin.
So, the BO smell isn’t of the musty/funky type, but reminds me more of how the underarm area of my jacket smells if I have been wearing a sleeveless top and have been perspiring a bit throughout the day. Light sweat and deodorant….yeah, that’s it. I feel like they bottled my sweaty smell and are charging for it.
Needless to say, I will not purchase a full bottle of it.

This scent is somewhat similar in composition to “freshly shaven” masculine scents. The juxtaposition of the citrus opening (the peach and black current meld together to read more like “grapefruit” rather than separate on me), herbal undertones (cedar and patchouli) and a touch of clean musky floral notes create this feeling/quality.
After about 30 or so minutes it’s softens further and the floral and clean musk notes become a little more prominent. The herbal quality is just a hum by about 40 minutes.
Although this is marketed toward women, it really reminds me of a couple that has showered together. The scent of her’s and his’ luxury body care products meld together as they get ready for their day. It’s beautifully done, but this will definitely read that you’ve been spending time with a man/woman very recently.
This has a moderate silage (3-5 feet) and lasts 8+ hours on dry skin in a dry climate.
Overall, beautifully done and is a great pick-me-up if you want to remember some special morning moments.

    Debolissima pesca “rosata” molto dolce.
Assenti pepe, peperoncino e patchouli, note che avrebbero dovuto giustificare cotanto titolo.
E’ un semplice profumo alla pesca dal prezzo esagerato.
    Sorry.

    Review from a sample:
Opens with pee/BO note (I’m guessing it’s blackcurrant) and a very synthetic litchi, then tries down into a cedar litchi. I do smell a hint of blood orange but it’s not that clear and certainly not enough to balance the litchi. I don’t get any spices at all, it’s just very very sweet and synthetic. For me, this one is my least favorite in the Garden of Good & Evil collection.

This smells quite synthetic and cheap to me. Kilian do some lovely fragrances (Back to Black, Prelude to Love and Absinthe Verde are all very nice in my opinion), but I find a lot of the fragrances from this house tend to be excessively sweet and lacking any real depth. This is one of those.
It’s fruity. Very, very fruity. It was actually giving me a bit of a headache. The dry down becomes a little woody, but it stays mostly a super sweet, super fruity scent throughout. It’s one of those perfumes that would really bother me if I was next to someone wearing it.
It’s a very noveau-riche kind of perfume (I don’t mean that in a snobby way as there is nothing riche about me, noveau or otherwise!). I can see this on an athlete’s wife or LA socialite but not on aan elegant Parisian old money type of woman.
It does get nicer as the time goes on and the fruit calms down slightly. But not much, I’m afraid. Sorry!

It actually didn’t take me all that long to place from where I knew this scent–alas, PLAYING WITH THE DEVIL is familiar because it smells exactly like the “Pink Medicine” you had as a kid. A pink bubble-gum looking medicine with a cooling note is what you find in this fragrance.
To be clear, I’m not suggesting that it smells like bubble gum. No, it’s the “pink medicine.”
Please don’t kill this messenger! It’s true!

By and large, many people, just like myself, were disappointed with the “white bottle” range of Killian’s latest offers. This one, however, I felt was a significant improvement to the previous “garden of eden” series that I so desperately wanted to love because of the gorgeous bottles and snake clutch that accompanies – but couldn’t, no matter how much I tried. To my nose, playing with the devil is not so much playing with the devil, but playing with sugary, vanilla flavored angels who come at you bearing peaches, blackcurrants and lichees and then wrap you up in vanilla/tonka bean blankets once you eat their delicious fruit. It is ultimately a fruit/vanilla combo. The drydown is the best part, which imparts a very cosy vanilla halo around you – not too dissimilar to that of Mona Orio’s Vanille. I wish I had of bought this one instead of the very disappointing city of sin. If you love fruity vanilla combos and have quite a few spare bucks in the back pocket, it could be worth a sniff.

One of the sales associates from Saks was generous enough to give me several samples of this sexy fragrance, and I decided to get creative and blend it with another favorite Kilian fragrance of mine, Forbidden Games. Personally, I love the luscious combination of spicy and fruity and it definitely works with my body chemistry. Have already received a few compliments on my “experiment” and am definitely giving both scents a “thumbs up”.

Top notes are really fruity. Lots of peach and citrus and litchi. Sweet, but not bubblegummy. Like a fruity cocktail. Happily, it gets peppery in the drydown. Nice, but a little too fruity to be my thing. To be honest, it’s way too similar to In the City of Sin for me. Maybe if I smelled them side by side I’d see a difference, but my first thought after sniffing was, “I’ve smelled this before”. Won’t scrub it off, but doubt I’d buy a bottle.

No unholy gamble for your soul here. Maybe a lively game of crazy eights with the devil played for candy cigarettes and noisy kisses on the cheek.
The top notes open with a juicy burst of fruit, as if gleefully smashed by a hammer, a bit of astringent peach, a spray of lychee nectar, and some musky black currant splattered in your hair.
Alas, such spontaneity is not sustainable, and it soon settles into a mouth-puckering, sour sweet, vaguely rosey, smoky fog, as if one of those candy cigarettes had indeed been lit and is perfuming your room like an incense stick.
This stage reminds me of when a game is done, and you still feel a little giddy, but also nervy, with an encroaching sense of melancholy, looking for the next thing. And the next thing. And the next.

Fresh, peachy, fruity, bright and feminine. If you like fruity (but not sticky sweet) fragrances, you must try Playing with the devil.
I can detect all the fruits, the peach, cassis, blood orange and lychee. The rose is present but is subtle not overpowering
This is how fruity fragrances should be done. Thumbs up!

smells exactly like “Enchanted Forest” but the blackcurrant note isnt as loud. if you want loud blackcurrant buy Enchanted Forest. if you want a more softer blackcurrant note buy this.

Bottle is so beautiful, I will buy this just for the look! The perfume is great, even though less unique than other killian frags.

I got a sample of this from Aedes. I loved the opening. So fresh and fruity. Wish I could wear it but it’s a bit too sweet in the dry-down for me. Although it’s not my personal style, it is an absolutely gorgeous fragrance.
