Well, I just had to buy this tonight at Marshalls:
a gift set with a 3.4 oz bottle, a “mini” pocket sized bottle, a deodorant stick and a small shower gel….for $19.99 !
Aside from my review a few spaces down: I can smell the wood MORE than before (now that I am living with it).
This is actually better than I thought. It’s a “good generic”. The teak wood is coming off very strongly now!
But yeah- the opening is fantastic , dry down is basic.
Still, for $19.99 ……….. (the deodorant alone is worth $5.99, LOL) .

I tried to enjoy this one and the opening is indeed really good, but as other reviewers have mentioned the 10 minute dry down is sub par. I personally found the dry down to be very distasteful, with a heavy metallic smell. Maybe it’s the star anise? That aside, I’m not a fan of lavender at all, and for that reason I decided to return it. Don’t buy this one if only for the opening, you’ll regret it later.

I don’t know how, but somehow this ends up smelling like Versace Eros.
It’s like Eros but opens with a bunch of citrus and is fresh… it also has a noticeable ambroxan note. It’s less minty than Eros.
This could be seen as Eros Summer edition honestly, just not *quite* the quality of Eros.

Rich lemon to start with wood and musk to finish. I enjoyed wearing this to the office today. Great for warm weather. Reminds me of both Versace Eros and Anonymous by Thallium (the latter which, still, is not listed on Fragrantica). Differences are Perry Ellis Citron doesn’t have the vanilla of Eros and is lighter than Anon (which lasts longer and projects more, if that’s your thing). I think it’s both masculine and sophisticated. This cologne is pretty inexpensive so I probably will buy a bottle to add to the rotation for the summer.

Sampled this at Macy’s Feb. 2016
    ——————————-
    1) OPENS with a fresh shimmering spicy Lemon………
(I’m like “OH this is going to be GOOD!”)
    2) Oh no………..nooooooo
    3) This one is going down like a lemony Hindenburg ….
    4) DRY-DOWN is a complete catastrophe:
it’s that putrid (to me) Azzaro / Drakkar Noir “burnt licorice / burnt vinyl record” smell.
You people KNOW the one I’m talking about.
Synthetic as a shower curtain from from the dollar store.
Perry Ellis – shame on you.
(I did like the bottle design colors though)

It’s about time this one got added!;)
Great fizzy/sparkling citrus opening that quickly fades after about 10minutes or so. Then the apple, pepper and star anise come forward and a good dose of lavender begins creeping in as well.
At this point I think to myself, “wow, this reminds me of Ferregamo F Pour Homme!” Which isn’t a bad thing, since they are both nice fragrances….but after the surprisingly well done opening, I’m a little let down with the whole been there, smelt that before:/
Once it hits the drydown stage and the Ambroxan/geranium kicks in, with the apple still holding on…this gets sweeter, creamy and a little powdery. Giving a slight nod to Versace Eros IMO.(how is there no tonka in this, I swear I smell it?!)
Longevity seems to be quite good with just a few sprays from my sample, but honestly more testing is needed to be sure.
I am a big fan of this cheapie house in general, so had high hopes and was really looking forward to trying this. It’s certainly a quality fragrance with three distinct phases, but ultimately this will be a pass on buying a full bottle since I already own the fragrances that this closely mimics.
Still a good outing for PE and I suggest giving it a sniff if you get the chance!:) Teetering on the brink between neutral and thumbs up….but just enough to tip the scales in its favor.
