Description

This perfume was introduced in 2006. It won a best-perfume award in 2007 by Marie Claire. There are two kinds of bottle; one was designed especially as an extrait de parfum 60ml bottle and the other as Eau de Toilette 50ml and 100ml bottle.
The extrait de parfum bottle was inspired by by the René Lalique “Cactus” powder bowl of 1928, which is the real symbol of femininity. The flacon is handmade, made of opal with a beautiful stopper adorned by black dots.Every single bottle is signed and has its own unique number.
This chypre-floral compositon was designed by Nathalie Lorson, Firmenich. The notes are voluptuous, intoxicating, feminine and very seductive.
Bulgarin rose shines with its sweet and spicy nuances. At its heart, the note of sensual and powdery iris caressed by bourbon pepper which offers the wave of some modern colouring seguing into patchouli and musks. The casmir note gives off its elegant and refined character.

No rose here, unfortunately. Otherwise, a very well blended, soft, earthy perfume. It has a moist, cool quality which makes me think it might be appropriate for warmer weather (as a paradox). So a “heavy” warm weather fragrance, maybe in the vein of some Hermes creations. I think it would not be too far fetched to say its almost unisex.

I purchased this after reading great reviews for a powdery, woody, rose, type fragrance.. but alas on me I get initially sherbet powder ..strong lemonade sherbet powder that we dipped in our wet fingers and ate from a paper bag as kids…I cant get Rose or the Iso E Super (which I have a bottle of and smells gorgeous)or the soft powder.. someone mentioned it smells like when someone has a cold and has a menthol sweet ..Im getting that too.
In fact the longer this is on me the worse the smell is developing, its now musty menthol old sweets Yeurghh..
So disappointed will be putting this straight on ebay
Still searching for my floral, powdery, musky, woody, favourite fragrance.

I love Lalique fragrances. Have to give this one a study trial. One spray and the cedar blew my head off. Can smell some rose. Does anyone smell cedar? Still like it. Will give it a another try later.

80% Iso E Super (Tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalene)! Love, love, love this stuff! Perles de Lalique cheers me up. Yes, it smells woody, soft, and beautiful, but I have a theory that the iso E super molecule acts as a mood enhancer on me.
While I love the composition and artistry of vintages, there is a lot to be said for the creative chemistry of modern scents. Perles de Lalique is the gateway scent that caused me to appreciate iso E super, ambroxan, cashmeran, and other modern aromachemicals.
This is a beautiful, modern fragrance. Wish it lasted longer, but still no complaints. Good for any season.

I love this perfume, if it could only last a bit longer. Not very strong on my skin, but I guess this is quite individual.
I do not recognize the roses note, but to me this is a very magical scent. I would describe it as mild sweet with a slight masculine note and I love this combination.
By the way, I bought this perfume completely based on the reviews and the description here and I am not disappointed at all 🙂
Can someone please tell me what is the specific masculine scent ingredient? Sorry, not good at the ingredients, it may be the combination of iris and pepper or patchouli and pepper, I guess ?!? Don`t know how to define it …thanks!

I can definitely see the correlation between this and Midnight Poison.
Not saying it’s a duplicate. But, if you liked CD Midnight Poison or Tom Ford’s White Patchouli. You’ll probably really dig this. Good Silage, Good Longevity and Good price point for such a nice Perfüme.
    Incedentally, NICE LOOKING BOTTLE!

I’m currently wearing this perfume, and it’s absolutely gorgeous. In saying that, I have to be in the mood for it, and as it’s currently becoming winter here in New Zealand, I find I’m drawn to this fragrance.
I find it to be a very smooth, and almost dusty fragrance… It’s quite reminiscent of Tom Ford’s Noir de noir fragrance to me, although I only had one whiff of it many months ago, but thought of this gem straight away whilst sniffing it.
I’m no pro when it comes to knowing what particular note smells like what exactly, but to me it comes across as a soft woody fragrance, with hints of soft warm spices, and it makes me feel cosy over the winter months. I get no hints of rose, or the camphor smell many people mention, just a smooth creamy whiff ofa dusty wood and smokers lollies. Does anyone know about those small oblong sweets that smelled kinda smoky/musky? Well this smell reminds me of them.

To me is all about a spicy, heavy rose, loved it. Longevity could be better, it was 5 to 7 hours (depending on the temps) on my skin with moderate sillage, but the scent was to die for.

BURST of camphorous patchouli, which is not off-putting for me.
I was expecting a much “rosier” perfume, but I don’t get much rose here.
Masculine leaning, but def unisex – if I had to label it, would def say masculine, but not in the stereotypical aquatic musk manner.
I definitely get the “cold, yet warm” vibe that is described below.
Bottle & name incongruity: looks & sounds like it is going to be more delicate or floral – but the juice does not match for me.
This is a great bargain – could easily be confused for a much more expensive and/or niche scent.
Is this a chypre? Maybe I don’t have a complete understanding, but I thought chypres had citrus top notes? Maybe it’s more about the base.
DRYDOWN: beautiful veil of spicy patchouli – not a cloud! a veil – it’s lovely

Mixed reviews – not surprising to me – it’s an aquired taste, doesn’t go on everyone and isn’t a crowd pleaser.
It is edgy and interesting IMO. I really don’t like patchouly too much but here it doesn’t bother me at all. I wear this in the evening. It has amazing longevity and sillage.
I love Nathalie Lorson’s creations – she knows women and recognizes not all ladies are sweet by nature, some are a bit naughty, too 😉
This can easily be worn by a young gentleman.
I like the bottle too, the pic here doesn’t do it justice, when you hold it in your hand you’ll know what I mean.
    Plus it’s affordable.

I know that many people like it because of vetiver. I don’t like vetiver. Besides, this fragrance seems to me not catchy and dusty.

  12. :

    3 out of 5

One of the very affordable fragrances, that smells “niche” (think Rose Anonyme Atelier Cologne here) and “different”.
Dry from pepper, woody-patchy-rose. Like at the entrance of Victorian-style apothecary, the bell rings and you step in into Kingdom of plants, which life been drained from leaves and petals for medicines sake, all you see around is their hanged dried “bodies” at the corners of that mysterious dusty farmacy.
It is not as much witchy, as you might think, just tiny bit experimental-alchemical and melancholic.
Feels and wears better, while strolling outside
*with black cat on a leash*

I instantly fell in love with it and nothing was able to discourage me. When I was using it, I was getting the most mixed reviews from the people around, starting from “whoa, someone smells like a hospital” to “what’s that smell? It’s heavenly!”. It is one of a kind, my staple, my signature fragrance.

  14. :

On me it was all about roses with a spicy, vetiver-ish background.Delicious, sophisticated, feminine with a moderate sillage and 6-hour longevity.

This was a bling buy simply because I have never been disappointed with Lalique.
While reading reviews here, one gets very different takes on Perles de Lalique: some write about how feminine it is, others write about how it smells too masculine.
This is really a very personal scent. You like it or you don’t. No gender needed. Chypres tend to be polarizing anyway.
This one does have some feminine elements to it, and some masculine elements too. Kind of like silk is not a fabric usually associated to menswear, unless you are talking about elegant ties or pocket squares (or boxers…)
Perles de Lalique manages first and foremost to be elegant and classy. While the name might evoke a classic string of pearls, it could just as well evoke an elegant pearl tie pin.
Its has become one of my favorite fragrance.

Opens smelling like cream soda, then the sweetness gives way to masculine and slightly Vick’s vapor rub. But nice. I could wear this all day. Sparkles.

  18. :

Few people, or no one, will agree with me: this one is not only similar to Midnight Poison, but also more versatile than that.
It is less elaborate and complex, but more diurnal, more solar; maybe because it has no vanilla notes.
It is also a paradoxical fragrance, warm and fresh: the pepper, medium note on the accord of roses and patchouli, irritates the nose so that it feels more vividly the cold of the patchouli and the heat of the rose. It’s a bipolar fragrance. I love it! (even though, sometimes, i hate it).

Another blind buy and I have mixed feeligs…. I love how this smells on the bottle and on my skin at the end of the day. But upon first spraying it is really sweet and overpowering. I detect a fruity berry smell. I’m wondering if they put Lalique Amethyst Eclat in Perles bottles by mistake??? If I don’t put too much on it’s ok and I know that I have the beautiful dry down to look forward to. I haven’t given up on it yet it may be better in autumn or winter.
I have given up on Perles. Doesn’t smell like a chypre at to me. No woody notes at all just smells like children’s medicine. Don’t enjoy wearing it or look forward to spraying it on as I do with other perfumes.

Was bought this perfume for Christmas,& wearing it for the first time today (Boxing Day)!! & guess what……?? I already absolutely adore it!! I absolutely adored Diors midnight Poison when I first smelt it from launch & bought 3x100ml edp bottles of it as I had already made it my signature fragrance,so you can guess how gutted & upset I was when Dior discontinued it (Typical of Dior) as they did the very Samething to Tender poison another all time favourite of mine!! Was over joyed when a close friend told me to try YSL Elle edp which does deffo remind me of MDP. although it’s not as creamy!! Then YSL discontinued it,leaving me absolutely heartbroken all over again, until they re-launched it!!I then found Guerlains Idylle was similar so settled for that one!!
To be honest I never heard of the Lalique Perfume Brand before until I was bought this real beauty for Christmas,& when I tried it for the first time WOW it’s very much the same as MDP!! As it deffo has Diors over all creamyness that both Guerlain & YSL miss out on!! Not that either are really bad etc!! I just know the difference between them all!! I deffo will be buying this hidden beauty from now on,as no joke I’m already totally in love with it + it’s bottle is just beautiful & looks really expensive!! I honestly hope that Lalique NEVER X or discontinue it as that would honestly be a crying shame!! I’m really happy this Christmas Time!! XxXx

This one smells exactly as if you are entering the Turkish steam room that has cooled down. Imagine the mix of left over essential oils and cold steam. This is my very clear association with this perfume. It is not bad, it’s pleasant and well blended but quite different and I honestly don’t care for it. It’s a bit disappointing as the reviews are so flattering and I really hoped to fall in love with this one. But it’s not for me.

I had a sample of this. The top and mid notes were amazing but the base note gave me major migraines even after I showered to get rid of the smell. I think it’s the patchouli… it is too masculine for me and lingers the way I wish my favorite perfumes would. I don’t like it at all… it reminds me of how male and female fragrances mix in a room full of people. Not surprisingly it reminds me of Boyfriend by Kate Walsh.

  23. :

Lovely and I really like it, it’s just a tad too masculine on me for my every day use, will try it in a different time of year, iso-e amplifies the patchouli on my skin.

  24. :

    Profumo 7,5/10
    Longevità 7,5/10
    Sillage 7/10

I have Midnight Poison and Elle so was very interested in trying this fragrance. It reminds me more of Elle than MP and I am getting a beautiful soft combination of oakmoss, pepper, patch and iris with just a hint of rose – really love this and think I am going to wear it everyday for awhile! I find this softer than Elle so I can be comfortable wearing this to work. Very pleased to find this works with my chemistry.

Im not the biggest fan of iso-e super. This was one of the first to sport a heavy overdose of it. Its now used in place to blurr edges and soften a composition almost eliminating the technical know how to do it with just raw materials. Here, I have to admit its used very well with the overall scheme of the fragrance. I wanted to hate it but I cannot.
The rose notes are softly beautiful, the patchouli leans a sexy edge and the woods work marvelously. I dont get a lot of pepper in my wearing. Its a modern classic at a great price. I feel this and Balmains Amber Gris are some of the best buys in modern perfumary. Thumbs up.

  28. :

A waft of camphor and moth balls at first spray, which slowly settles into a woody spicy fragrance. This is one that eventually improves with wear although longevity is not its strong suit. I think this is a good work fragrance for when you need to put on a serious demeanour.

Frozen, distinguished beauty.Cooling in summer and warming during wintertime.Making a distance.
Palisander (rosewood), patchouli and spicy accents, mainly black pepper are responsible for Perles` multidimensional effects. No comparison to Elle which is heavy of pink pepper or rich in patchouli, dark and mysterious Midnight Poison.
I can find only forgotten Marcel by Marongiou a bit similar to Perles.
In Lalique`s composition perfectly mixed ingredients leave wooden and peppery traces all around a person who is wearing the scent.A bottle made of frozen glass hides inside some ambivalence.Makes you breathe deeper in humid air, awakens your mind in the hot morning and calms emotions after a long day. Some gloomy, bitter accents are also present and lead you into a bit nostalgic area.Due to `moving factor` (ISO?)perfumes quickly take off your skin, creating a kind of shimmering aura around. What`s more intriguing Perles could imitate rose, camphor, amber or even ..incense !A magical perfume. Also smart, minimalistic like a jewellery necklace made of high class pearls. Rather for a Snow Queen than for a Sleeping Beauty:)
But so beautiful that it can`t stop surprising me!

  30. :

    5 out of 5

Intensely mossy, herbaceous, almost resinous on first spray, Perles almost immediately settles down into a slightly more powdery version of its first introduction. The floral notes do not play a prominent role in the scent, but gather as a supportive cast, mellowing out what could be a sharp and intense combination into a dry, herbal embrace. It is the sort of scent that makes you bring your wrist to your nose again and again, almost addictively.

Perles is a decent replacement for Dior MP but it is very heavy on the iso-e. However it does stay true to MP’s rose/patch/pepper core. It lacks the strong amber note and is not as warm or medicinal and is much airier. Instead it has oakmoss which lends a colder feel. I personally prefer YSL Elle, which is not as heavy as MP either and lacks the medicinal quality of the original formula (which I actually really love). It’s fruitier but warmer and thicker than Perles. It’s closer to the reformulated version of MP but I actually like Elle more. Perles is strictly for iso-e lovers, or at least the iso-e tolerant. It is by no means a bad scent but I personally find it to be an iso-e overdose. It can be found for quite cheap though so all in all it’s a great value and a good enough dupe of MP. If you love iso-e it’s a must-try. The bottle is also really cool, not surprising given that it’s Lalique.

I am not a huge fan of rose but love patch. I do get quite a bit of rose but the powder and patch make this very intriguing. It’s a musty rose like the rose in Anna Sui, which I happen to be a fan of. It’s very old fashioned smelling, like a bouquet of dried roses lying beside an open powder compact atop a dressing table circa 1930. My only gripe is that the silage is so low, I was expecting better projection with this one. I seem to have problems projecting powdery scents that others don’t. Same issue with Shalimar Parfum Initial. I hope the longevity is at least better. If not well I have a huge bottle and I can spray away to my hearts content. As for the MP comparison MP has a sweetness and warmth this does not. I consider this to be a cold scent where MP has warmth to it. similar vibe, different scents. Worth owning both.
UPDATE: while silage isn’t the best, this has lasted over 6 hours on my skin

  34. :

Not a huge lover of rose perfumes (although I have a lot of them, whatever), but I adore this. It’s more of a botanical/herbal scent than floral. Heavy on the patch.

Finally received this today, after sniffing it probably 2 years ago. At the time, I knew it was reminding me of another fragrance….but could not put my finger on it.
Now, as I smell it today I DO see the resemblance to the famous Dior Midnight Poison, but I will be honest and say, to my nose….Perles is not a dupe/clone of MP.
They are related, yes. Similar “vibe”. I have NOT ever smelled YSL ELLE, but I now have a reason to seek that one out …for a test. I see how it can be for male/female/unisex. Sillage…medium. Projection..medium
Scent…8.5/10 Great buy for the price. Loving it so far.

This perfume is on my wishlist and hopefully it will be on my vanity table soon. I absolutely love it.
I can definitely smell the pepper and also powder and vetiver. I think this could be a good perfume for you if you like fragrances like Coco Mademoiselle or the first Bottega Veneta.
It is not sweet and there is a masculine side to it but I can’t imagine a man wearing it.

Sugar and spice and all things nice that’s what little girls are made of. I was never usually drawn to a sweet scent but
I just adore the first spicy sweet hit this gives me.
Unfortunately this perfume does not last on me and I can hardly smell it after an hour. Shame it could have been love.
I probably won’t bother to repurchase and will get my sweet hits from Y.S.L Cinema.

This just arrived to me and it is so cosy and beautiful! I have no idea what some people are talking about when they are describing it. For me the strongest notes are the rose, iris, oakmoss and the cashmerewood. I don’t detect this big peppery note. It is soft and very feminine. It is what I wanted and what everyone describes Donna Karan Cashmere to be but it wasn’t. While I am still wearing it it is too much like the clean fragrances, too artificial, too peppery, too sharp and astrigent with no soft rounded edges.

  40. :

Earthy, camphore like dominant note with jammy rose, I’m so in love. Woody, dry rose I would say. Perfection. The one that has survived frome the Great Three of Perles, Elle and Midnight Poison.

I feel no connection to MP
very fruity at the beginning, I think i can smell pearl very clearly
but then after several minutes it is dry spicy smell
and then settles to warm woody patchouli
and of course with the iris this is a little powdery
    but in a good way
    fantastic bottle
    this scent is overly underrated
    and very long lasting
a whole day on my skin

After glancing at some of the comments on here I was not sure what to expect. Well, I love it. Its true my fragrance preferences are towards the stronger and more potent but Im sure it would make a very sophisticated classic evening scent. I get lots of rose and patch at first but as it settles I can detect the pepper and oakmoss. This is quite a strong spicey patch fragrance but there is lots of rose. These notes are generally very long lasting on me but this fragrance fades astonishingly fast. The sillage is not much better. Its like the shadow of what could have been an amazing fragrance. So close but yet so far.
Regarding the similarity with YSL Elle edp. Elle is way lighter weight and I dont get any of the rose I get in Perles. Elle is fruity with a bit of patch but lovely in its own right.

Um, not really. Wet laundry left in the washer overnight stinks like dirty socks! Perles de Lalique smells very clean, like sterile mold, if that makes any sense.

Rarely you blind buy a perfume and it’s
    BAM!
    The Goddess of perfumes!
    Holy Guacamole!
This is the living end, the bee’s knee’s and the cat’s whiskers!
Aromatic & peppery on opening settling into fabulous rosey pink pepper with a slight musky powdery quality that radiates quality.
it reminds me of Amarni Diamonds but is classier and far more sexy.

Pure pepper and woods but mostly pepper on me. This is Midnight Poison’s stern and humourless mother. I think this would smell sexy as hell on the right woman but on me, it’s just not working. I don’t think chypres and my skin agree, unfortunately.

Wow, I forgot about this entirely. I accompanied a colleague to a nearby perfume shop during lunch break. I sprayed the following: Herba Fresca, White Linen, Hermès Un Jardin en Méditerranée and this. They all remind me of my mum. She used (or still does) wear them and I seem to follow in her footsteps. Which is a good thing 🙂
Back to the scent: This is a hybrid – clean & fresh while at the same time aromatic, sensual & warm. Weird, I know, but that’s how this comes across to my nose. It is indeed similar to Elle and Midnight Poison although Elle is fruitier and MP a tad cooler. Whatever the case – I will get a bottle of this. Definitely. A colleague just followed me sniffing and stating “now you smell fabulous!”. I love how this is feminin with a masculine edge.

  49. :

    3 out of 5

It is the closest thing I have smelled to Midnight Poison, which is interesting, given that this was released a year earlier. Midnight Poison is a perfume that I like, not love, and my stance on this one is similar. The opening was pungent, I heard Dr. Gonzo say “too much man, too much, too much” in the back of my head, but it softened within an hour or two. I have a feeling this one might grow on me actually.
Edit: It did grow on me. I got a craving for it, dug out my sample and promptly fell in love. I will need a full bottle of this.

Beautifully designed scent. I was searching for a pepper-filled scent earlier this winter and found a small dabber bottle of Perles de Lalique on ebay. It has not disappointed! It is a beautiful mixture of traditionally “feminine” and “masculine” notes. It is neither warm nor cool to me, but rather neutral in some way. Woodsy, slightly floral, very earthy and natural-feeling, like someone collected fallen plants from the forest floor and made a perfume from them. The pepper I believe gives a smell that reminds me of dusty cork, which I quite like! Very unique and wearable. Makes me feel powerful, calm, and put together. 8/10

there´s something on Perles what remains me of a classy lady in an old library..maybe I´m just too young for this fragrance. I can imagine I´d try it in twenty years again. Similar to Elle? maybe, in this “vintage” smell, but Elle is more sharp and – let´s say – unfriendly and allows less compromise. Perles is more universal, I think.

Meet a poetic and timeless fragrance. I close my eyes and it transports me to a boudoir on top of a giant powder puff. It is a light, intimate and romantic scent that stays close to your body. This one is addictive. After testing it out a few times, I just had to have it. Lovely, simple and unique.

  54. :

This is a dusty, woody, library-made scent. Stunning, but not perfume-wise. It would suit a roomspray, but i doubt i’d want to smell like this…. Could be that the tester was old….

This perfume reminds me of ysl Elle ?!What ?!?? No way , all I can smell is pepper , the worst harsh pepper you can ever imagine , very masculine , and on to the notes : no rose no nothing ! Stop comparing this to Elle , Elle is a masterpiece an this is something horrible I can’t even describe . I want to throw up everytime I smell it. Sorry..
Oh, Stella lovers , don’t even think that this is similar,

I really appreciate the perfumes of Lalique, because they are unique, individualistic, very special, they are not supposed to please the crowd or directly follow the trends, and this one is like that too.
Perles de Lalique is the perfume for a special mood. I wear it when I want to spend some time just with myself alone. Sometimes I don’t want to see anybody, to talk, to smile, to be sociable, some kind of a restart. A noble perfume (and for that reason not always understood correctly), a unique one. It can be compared with “Femme Individuelle” by Mont Blanc – the same juniper, pepper and rose vibe.
This perfume for me is a wild juniper wood near the sea, a meadow where the wild roses and some tiny violets grow, a warm summer day without the sun, the dark clouds, the wind becoming stronger and stronger, blowing through the high pines and juniper branches, some drops of rain falling in my hands like the real pearls. Like the breath of the nature. The freedom and the sincerity.

For Her NR, eu amei!
