I found bottle of Opoponax in S Maria Novella’s wonderful traditional shop on Picadilly London, opposite the Royal Academy, by chance. I was not one for using much Colonia but now I’m somewhat captivated by this warm sensual aroma.
I was very interested to see that the name of the ingredients relates to the word in ancient Greece for – panacea. Having just discovered this it makes me more confident, as a male, to wear it! Why not surround myself with healing properties! ?

Very Italian barbershop, but on the spicy side. Definitely masculine. Starts out pretty strong, but settles quickly, and is a skin scent in just an hour or 2 on me. After 3 hours, it’s nearly gone. Beautiful, high quality, short-lived.

Loved it, wore it. The scent was opoponax and resins on me, with a hint of patchouli and a bit of musk. It gave me no sweetness at all, but freshness – it did, as if there was a brook, and light summer wind was blowing from it to me, bringing the freshness, and at the same time I got a very dry feeling from the scent, with not a drop of water in the dryness. Both impressions coexisted beautifully and made me quite happy.
