Description

Diesel presents Only The Brave Wild in Summer 2014 as the third fragrance of the OTB collection, after Only The Brave from 2009 and Only The Brave Tattoo from 2012. The new fragrance aims at a “wild man” who “believes his primary instincts.” This man has the courage to create his own path and to defend the values in which he believes, as it is stated in the press release.

The composition opens with essential oils of grapefruit, lemongrass and black pepper. The heart features lavender, nutmeg, geranium and coumarin. The base contains notes of cedar wood, vetiver and moss with a creamy character of coconut water. Its is signed by Antoine Maisondieu and Shyamala Maisondieu.

The face of the perfume is French model and actor Willy Cartier. The fragrance is available as 50, 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette.

First let me start off by saying that I understand that smell is subjective, but I can’t honestly understand why anyone would actually like this cologne. I bought this a while back
(Blind buy) and man oh man was I ever disgusted. There is something in this cologne that offends me for all the wrong reasons. The opening spray has this ingredient in it that never goes away, even throughout the pyramid of this scent. Whatever it is, it’s there throughout the whole smell. I was looking through the ingredients and for a long time I thought it was cardamom but in the description on here there is no sign of it. I’ve smelled this note in other colognes as well (Hugo boss intense/guess seduction). Whatever it is it ruins my experience. Anyway, skip this one, I cant recommend it to anyone. It’s not safe and offensive. I’m not sure if the older one is good, and maybe I even got a re-formulated version, either way it’s not very good.

I tried older versions and it had a delightful coconut distinctive note, but today I went to the Diesel counter and that coconut note I loved is not there anymore. I wonder if they changed the formula a little bit…

This fragrance is super sexy and gives you that beach vibe. Definetly for casual dress code and more on the young side because of the fruity scent. It has the warming spicy factor that comes with the pepper and yes it can sometimes be weird/harsh when smelled directly but when smelled from the distance is a killer. Definetly an underrated scent with killer sillage and performance. This lasted much longer that DG the one EDP on my skin and very similar to versace dylan blue in terms of longevity but with much more sillage.

This does have the pickle juice, banana, tropical coconut smell, but its sweet and imo something wonderful, an Italian sort of fresh and European scent, another of my recent favs, it is the best diesel scent by far and has become one of my fav scents.

I am quite familiar with Diesel’s fragrance line for men, especially the Only The Brave flankers. My partner wore Only The Brave Tattoo up until very recently, after he finished his bottle in record speed time. Since he and I enjoy the brand, we thought it best to test all that Diesel has to offer.
Despite the fact that Only The Brave Wild has been a hard sell since its release, I rather enjoy it. The smooth, somewhat creamy coconut accord is a note you very rarely smell in masculine scents. I am now convinced that it should be used more.
Only The Brave Wild is the perfect blend of creamy and citrusy, along the same lines as Creed’s Virgin Island Water. This fragrance is a lot fresher than I expected it to be and not nearly as rugged as the packaging suggests. It’s smooth and refreshing like the scent of clean skin after a shower with a hint of salty vetiver and bitter herbs, truly captivating on a man’s skin.
This flanker has relatively bold projection despite being a somewhat inoffensive fragrance and excellent longevity. What I like most about Diesel’s Only The Brave flankers is that you could easily own the entire range and not once consider them too similar. Each flanker sets a different mood and for that I really enjoy exploring each and every one of them.

Tried this out in Kohl’s today. Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks this smells like pickle juice?

I tested this at Kohl’s and to my surprise, the opening and heart smell like the drydown of Womanity by Thierry Mugler!
After about an hour, the tester card smelled of creamy yet screechy Coconut and in the trash the tester card went. I will test this again, but I am just so surprised at the resemblance of the legendary WOMANITY.

Herbal suntan lotion with a surprising spiced green top accord. This smells very clear and vegetal at first, with very sharp lemongrass and geranium, but it mellows out and gets a bit sweeter and begins to resemble a coumarinic fougere. Not wild but not bad.

It’s nice, warm fig fragrance… I find it very similar with CH Sport by Carolina Herrera, although in both there is no fig notes.

I can’t imagine it in summer or spring . It’s much much better in cold weather.. I Love it

Green coconut oily kind of vibe. That’s what is noticeable in the dry down. Opens up with a very prominent fresh, sightly spicy grapefruit which lasts for about 15 minutes, can be a little bitter and then there is a green coconut all through the rest of the time it stays on the skin. There is a slight sweetness but that can be attributed to the coconut.
Performance is poor, stays close to the skin. radiates only to an elbow length in the initial hour and longevity is moderate. The scent is just alright, nothing that could make u buy a bottle because you will be spending it on literally nothing as it is not good with performance.
Good for spring perhaps but not for the summer

    bref = 7,5/10

I love the opening on this. I bought it blind in Australia when it was on sale. I think it smells great out of the bottle. But a few hours later no one can smell it.
Whilst I don’t fit the profile of the marketing I think the fragrance does. And I believe the flacon is consistent with the fragrance.
I like it. I just need to reapply regularly. Oh and I would wear this all year anywhere really.

Initially smells like sunblock mixed with insect repellant. After that fades your nose will be assaulted by a flowery car air freshener scent.
    Definitely a scrubber.

Wild? they got that right, the smell of this on my lover sends me wild!
Very sexy, lots of coconut and lime.
A classy scent, I think it could pass as unisex.
Bottle is not beautiful but I enjoy it.
I guess a male audience doesn’t really want a pretty bottle. But of the range I think this is the nicest, like the bling on the fingers.
    Scent 9/10
    Bottle 5/10
update: I wear this with a over layer of SJP NY crush which is just about pure coconut, good fun if you don’t shy from trying out masculine scents.

Did my usual trawl around my local department store fragrance department, sprayed a few samples on scent sticks and just randomly tried this.
Horrible bottle so I nearly didn’t bother.
But wow. What a gorgeous scent. I had put the cards all together when I left the store and this scent dominated them all after an hour.
It is really just a lovely coconut, green scent. I do a very hard physical job which is a 10 hour shift and I certainly notice how nearly every scent I have is gone by the time I finish work but this was going strong to the end.
    It’s not super overpowering though.
It just smells gorgeous. I am so pleased I purchased it and it’s right up there as one of my favourites.

If you like fresh spicy fragrances and a generous pinch of coconut that follows you around then this is for you. Nothing overly special with average lasting power and I suppose a very safe buy. I can see why people think that it reminds them of pasific Island holidays-it does to me anyway -)

I like it very much..Green and very masculine..Longetivity above average on my skin..I don’t like how bottle look like but into bottle is very good stuff..Good job Diesel

In so far as the packaging is concerned, it was most likely designed in a war zone!
War zones are full of ugliness as represented by the bottle design!

One of the things we all have to be aware of is scents smell differently on everyone & lasts differently as well..Fundamental basics.
I am not a fan of modern scents but I like this!
It does remind me of Thailand & in particular it gives me visions of a balmy full moon spent in passionate embrace with a beautiful Thai woman with the sea whispering passionate songs.
I am back in the West but certain when I return to Thailand again this year….this scent is going to arouse the curiosity of Thai/Russian women.
It is so sexy & tropical…for certain in any beach environment wither, the Caribe or Asia. This scent is going to get compliments.

It is far from anything wild – as the title says-, but it is a very nice, pleasant creamy coconut fragrance!Very well blended, Antoine Maisondieu is a great nose, has a sophistacated, fine taste. I like his Burberry fragrances too.

This is bad. An unnecessary addition to the ‘Brave’ lineup. It doesn’t last long and reminds me of the dreary and unpleasant Davidoff Adventure.

I don’t know where is the coconut, I can’t smell it. And this is not wild at all, it’s more “office wear”

Despite the reviews below, there is no prominent coconut note here. Moreover, the smell can’t even be named sweet. This a fresh spicy mango smell. Very similar to Boss.Bottled Sport, though a bit sweeter because of addition of mango accord. Forgettable and weak. Worse than the regular Only the brave fragrance.

Another disaster from Diesel. A cheap headache getter. This bottle is a fist and highly recommended for people who save their fragrances in dark spots:)

I must say this is an unusual coconut fragrance. It starts with a fruity blast dominated by sharp citruses before all is tamed down and tranforms into a mossy and spicy coconut fragrance unlike any other. Coconut fragrances tend to be beachy and summery and fun. This one however, is more formal.
This is easily the best OTB fragrance. Despit that, it’s not that good. The inclusion of “Wild” in the name is somewhat misleading as this is not wild in any sort! It’s sweet/spicy with moderate projection. For me a wild perfume is filled with heavy woods, animalic and flowery/herbal notes. They did only the moss right here.
All in all, I was really surprised by this perfume. It’s totally wearable even by someone that finds himself more mature to wear the OTB line as Wild is not as cloyingly sweet as tattoo nor as juvenile as the original.
    7.5/10

    Diesel OTB
How did I think this was ever going to be anything other than a cheap over sweet, chemical mess?
Well I did, I was desperately hoping OTB Wild would be a good outing at long last and it nearly is.
I think to label it an interpretation or modern take on fougere is going a bit far but that’s kinda what this is.
The thing that hits you right away is pungent and tropical fruity punch, which smells like a multitude of fruits from the sharpness of grapefruit to more exotic mango and coconut.
My main gripe with these modern fragrances is that overbearing ozonic, salty aquatic element which make them cheaper and more dramatic.
Starts out strong and projecting well then dies down but still with good longevity for what it’s worth.
This is because I’m stupid but I quite like the flacon design of the OTB line it’s tacky but cute in a way and has lots of possible variations. What I like is the ergonomics…the hand fits well in your hand and I like the colours scheme on the particular design. I actually like this fragrance more than any of the others in this line so that makes it a success of sorts.
Not good by any stretch but not awful.

I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I got a free sample and wasn’t expecting much ( it was probably the horrible looking fist bottle that initially put me off) but what I did get was a very nice smelling spicy coconut scent. Don’t be put off by the bottle, this one will surprise you. It’s a lot better than it looks.

got this juice on now to try it out and I’m liking it. had it on for around two hours and still projecting well. wasn’t sure at first but this is growing on me. quite unique smell for a guys frag. not sure whether the lady’s will like this though but I’m digging it on a warm sunny day casual wear. try this 1!

Coconut is the predominant note during the first minutes. Like Lexy said, this is not very masculine, but on my skin that coconut note doesn’t last very long leaving a sweet, green and woody smell.
The problem is… there is a perfume that cost 9€/100ml in Spain and smell like the middle and base of Wild. If you live in Spain check out “Como Tu Aventura” in mercadona supermarket. Very similar to this without the sweet top notes.
I tink the original is the better of the three braves without being groundbreaking.

surprisingly good, certainly ten times better than the original. An attractive modern/light interpretation of a Fougère.

Has little similarity with antonio banderas the secret. I see both has pepper, that sweet maybe grapefruit citrus smell mixed with slightly spicy woods. Can detect very light coconut and lavender. Very sexy smell. Unusual.

Already on sale in Spain. First minute, it’s green, herbal and fresh. But in seconds it turns into a fruit salad… mango, apricot, peach, apple… just name it… yes, that fruit is also there. Sweet but not overloaded sweet.
Easy to love it as a casual affair, uncomplicated, nice thing inside an ugly bottle.
Tested in a hot and humid summer day.
