Description

Inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s famous painting “the milkmaid”, this is a very Dutch affair indeed. Encapsulates the promises of early summer.

Melkmeisje notes: Pear, Lilac, Linden blossom, Honey, Orris root, Vanilla, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Musk.

Onder de Linde (Melkmeisje) was launched in 2015. The nose behind this fragrance is Spyros Drosopoulos.

My very first impression was of sour milk. The milk note dissipates but the sour remains throughout, mixed with honey. Very strange and repulsive.

This is possibly the worst scent I’ve ever encountered. It’s revolting to me. I got a bunch of samples and I keep retesting them all, this is the only one I haven’t dared to retest yet, it was that bad. I’m still trying to work out what it was I found so bad about it – it smells kind of sickly sweet and buttery mixed with powdery flowers. The mix doesn’t work for me. It’s very strong and distinctive, so if you like the scent it’s great quality. And it’s certainly unique, I’ve never tried anything like it before.
I might try it again at some point if I find a different sample, maybe something was wrong with the one I got.

Quite a unique perfume built around linden absolute (a rare and expensive material). Linden has an intensely green floral odor profile with a strong powdery nuance. Very spring. Very mimosa.

I really don’t get this. It’s too much – too much pear, then too much lilac, and then just a cacophony of notes that, to my nose, do not work together at all. Why perfumers continue to put pear notes in perfumes I just don’t know. Too sickly and cloying. Then on top of that linden AND honey? OTT.

This review is based on a decant, funny enough it was sent to me by Cherry_Darling who left a comment underneath.
Im blown away by this for real, it’s a work of art. Truly unisex, truly elegant.
It smells so clean and crisp beyond words.
I sprayed one spritz and I can still see the oily reflection on my skin 2 hours later.
    Sillage and longevity are excellent.
    It has the wow factor.

I love this scent. The pear and honey just go so well with the florals. Very natural scent, sweet, organic, pulpy almost, and very long lasting, Baruti always delivers best on that front. Probably my second favorite after my signature, but that price tag is holding me back for now. 5 star.
*Bought anyway. I’m in heaven – and wow, I’ve been smelling my arm for 15 minutes straight and still going strong – this is now my signature, I’m in love!
I have 100+ niche samples for swap within Europe – updated spreadsheet of samples on my profile, get in touch!

Probably helps that, as I applied this delight across my palette, I am looking into my back yard which has just bloomed into many shades of green Conifer and Deciduous.
A lone Lilac bush blossoms centerstage releasing it’s splendid perfume.
On my kitchen table, bright Daffodils radiate their golden charm.
The clincher,in this gem, is the way in which I am drawn into the ethereal high points of Conifer Green and the landing into a sea of Creamy, Citric, Resinous Savon.
No wishlist for this. I will have it now.
    Highly recommended.

@archivist I had a sample a while ago and if you had asked me to name notes blindly I wouldn’t have come up with vetiver. It may play a support role in the background but it’s not the usual rooty or salty beast you find in other frags where it features prominently.
On me this played as a contrast between juicy green notes, with the main component being undecavertol, and a honeyed, sweet musky base. Honey is not dirty either.
Nice juice, good for spring and summer for sure.

Honey is also very much present aswell as Vetiver who grownds it , h other notes i can not pick up on .
A guess this isent ment for my skin type cemestry went ohh so wrong with this one , Lindenblossom on my skins seams to be a no go ..

Floral and calming, noticeable in public, a compliment came from unexpected quarter when wearing this. Coolness of water mixed with petals. In Extrait form, could smell it through my winter knit glove.
