“Ashley and I love oils, we love the way it seeps into your skin. We love the way it lasts on your skin and it wears with you throughout the day.”—Mary Kate Olsen, Elizabeth and James Cofounder.

Nirvana Black Perfume Oil contains accords of sandalwood, violet and vanilla.

It is available in a 4 ml vial.
The nose behind this fragrance is Pierre Negrin.

I blind bought the body oil for a SONG (seriously, $20!) and I like it. Just a dab on my hand/wrist right now (I’m wearing Nirvana Bourbon today, but that’s 90% vanished) and it’s a soft powdery sandalwood. Buttery, play-doh vanilla sandalwood. And I like it! (Maybe a hint of spice in the drydown)
I’m not really finding the violets.
I don’t find this masculine at all.
Reminds me of a watered down Police Dark for Women. (Police Dark is CHEAP and a really good quality scent, I highly rec it. Woodsy powdery vanilla, with some spice/smoke/florals)
I have the EDP of Nirvana Black on order too, but this came first.
I had to wash my hands/wrists and it’s still there! It does melt into your skin. Very pleased about that. I hope the oil has some moisturizing properties because my skin is so dry!

My goodness this stuff is amazing!
The gorgeous opening is my favorite. It is warm and masculine-ish. The vanilla and sandalwood are just perfectly blended to create a spicy scent. When it dries down the flower comes through lightly. I absolutely LOVE this fragrance except….
Sillage and longevity. Yep. Ugh total bust. It disappeared so quickly I thought perhaps it was just me and I had gone anosmic. After reading other reviews I am now seeing it isn’t just me and that it literally does disappear. I’m so disappointed because this could easily be my favorite Fall/Winter scent. Maybe I will just go buy the Perfume and layer it with the oil. hmmm…Yes, I think I will. Its that good!

Warm, dark, soothing. Dark wood with soft vanilla. Violet is barely noticeable at the beginning, but its there if you search. It develops after several minutes in the green crushed leave sort of way. This isn’t powdery to me, but more balsamic and warm-spicy. There are some unmentioned notes I can’t place- maybe cedar, maybe something floral. Nice scent, not enough projection or longevity. I would like it more if it were more powerful.

This is a very lovely perfume with vanilla and violet. There is just a very light hint of sandalwood after the dry down. My only complaint is that it is not long lasting and extremely light. I prefer perfumes with a bit more weight to them. For some reason, oil just does not stay with me for very long. I tried a sample of the perfume and it did stay, but only a little longer. Wish it would stay!
    Nevertheless, a lovely gentle fragrance.

Although I adore the Nirvana Black EDP, I have to admit that the lasting power of the perfume oil isn’t as great as I’d hoped it would be. It lasts about 2 to 3 hours and is much lighter than the EDP. I think the vanilla is also stronger in this form and I don’t notice any violet at all. I do really love the scent of it though and it smells lovely when layered with the Nirvana White version as well as a lot of other perfumes. I also adore the little dropper mechanism. It’s very portable and such a cute idea. I would recommend the Perfume Oil only if you intend to use it as a nice sandalwood-vanilla to layer with other scents, but if you want to touch up the EDP throughout the day, the EDP rollerball would work much better.

Do not bother with this formulation. It lasts literally for 30 minutes then completely disappears. It does not even have that close to the skin type remainder like most perfumes do. Lovely scent , just go for the perfume version

Tested this recently and it’s a pass. I love the EDP spray and have recently fallen for perfume oils, so I thought it’d be perfect. The scent is much softer than the spray, and unlike arabian oils, does not seem to send out periodic ‘wisps’ during the day. I could only smell it if I brought my nose to skin. Longevity left much to be desired as well, with the spray lasting longer than this oil.

A light little diddy that is simple and easy. Perfect for office wear. Basically consider it Tam Dao with a dash of violet and vanilla.

Just have to correct a misconception: the Nirvana oil is a bottle of 14 ml (0.47 fl oz) and not just 4 ml..

Looking forward to reviews of this…$42 for 4ml…is it going to be worth it?

I have loved Nirvana Black since it first appeared at my local Sephora. Unfortunately, it’s staying power leaves a lot to be desired. I hope this will remedy that for me!!! Looking forward to this one…
