One of the most beautiful fragrances from LP.
It smells so much like wet wood, drifting on salty waters. The description of crossing the ocean by big wooden ships really fits this fragrance, as it is full of hope, freshness and longing.
I actually think there is fig in here, a very realistic, dry and soft fig like the actual faint smell of an open fig unlike the more bold fig fragrances from Giacobetti.
Too bad it is super soft and fades away quickly, and really a pity that it was discontinued.

Lime, Cedar, Anise & Pepper… a woody fragrance for warmer weather!
Well, this one is a nice fragrance… but I find it a little light on my skin. What I get is the lime and anise, as well as the light rum, but it’s mostly surrounded by cedarwood in the background. The fragrance is meant to evoke the age of travel in wooden sailing ships around the world to Asia, Africa & South America. I can see where they were coming from, but I have a feeling that this fragrance really needs hot weather to shine and reveal it’s true colours. I do get most of the notes, and they are well blended for sure. But it’s faint on my skin, and if I get the chance I would try it then. Although I’m sad to learn that it has been discontinued by L’Artisan Parfumeur. This is the third fragrance I’ve tried from them, and I still think they are a great house. But this one is better in hot weather for me, and sadly they don’t make it anymore!

Navegar is the summer reflection of my autumn /winter scent
Fuegias Beagle, also making you think of sea and ships and pirates !
Navegar is more like the pirates taking a rest in the shadow drinking
fresh lemon drinks in the swing, hearing the waves from a distance….
    Softer and kind of cooling.
What a great combination I’ve got myself!
Will love this for summer !

Navegar means seafaring, and was created with the celebration of the 500 years of the Portuguese arriving, by sea, surrounding all the African continent, to India.
And it does evoke seafaring. Reminds me of the sea, but also has clear notes of wood and spices (on me, mostly fragrant pepper mixed with wood and sea). An unusual combination which, on me, is a very calming, very soothing fragrance.
A word of warning: if you have sensitive skin (like I have on my face) do not wear it on your sensitive areas. I am not sure if it is the pepper, but it makes my face red. I am lucky that my arms’ skin is not sensitive and I wear it there and enjoy it deeply.

My Dad wears this, and its citrus, smoke, pepper and incense. Lovely. Lasts him all day.
Last time I went to my folks for the weekend I had a sneaky test, I get sea water, for about an hour, then nothing.
    Go figure!
Fantastic if it suits you, an expensive waste if not, be warned and try first.

Relaxing, soft summer scent with noticable beautiful notes of juniper (it is not listed but definitely it is there – both juniper berries and whole green branches), cedar, pepper, anise and lemon. Very fresh, great for hot days – you may feel as if you were by the seaside near some wild plants and trees, sitting and smelling seawater, wind… It does make me calm.
I just wish it lasted longer.

oh no my dear Olivia, so we did not really.
    Your popularity is not eternal.
If you go along the beach, collect sea water in a bottle and sell it is not honest!
Each person has his own skin, but something is wrong with the scent if after ten minutes, you hear absolutely nothing.
Too bad because the project could be interesting.
But worse for you that proves not to disappoint and
    Water???? Air flying!!!!

Lemon being squeezed over a freshly sharpened pencil, with a sprinkle of pepper.
Modern, light and perfect for summer.
“If one whispers rather than speaking in a loud voice, others will often lean in to hear what is being said”
Not great longevity, but so worth it.

Navegar to my nose smells of new cheap pressed particleboard with a base of wet cardboard. It doesn’t smell fresh or clean. It doesn’t last very long. I don’t really understand the following it seems to have had. It is not offputting or bad in any way, but certainly nothing I seek to smell like.

Navegar is kind of an odd scent. It has the light weight and general transparency of many aquatics, but is in fact quite woody and peppery. It’s not woody enough though to be mentioned alongside Hinoki or Tumulte or what have you. It’s a hybrid scent that doesn’t clearly fit into any category, and maybe that’s why it gets little love (that and the fact that many have longevity issues with it. I find it lasts all day, but can lose the scent for long periods and think it is gone when it isn’t.)
So why do I love Navegar and think it deserves more love here? Simply because it is evocative. Navegar really does call to mind the sailing on the ocean. No, this isn’t sipping drinks on your yacht ala Erolfa, or those same drinks at the oceanside resort ala Virgin Island Water. This isn’t some imagined paradise full of ripe melons ala Acqua di Gio. Navegar is the scent of an ancient trade ship loaded up with black gold; cedar barrels packed to the brim with peppercorns. Hints of the smooth and intoxicating scent of anise, the other spice on board, are also carried by the gentle breeze.
Navegar is the scent of standing on the deck of that ship, under an endless expanse of blue sky and surrounded by an equally endless expanse of blue waters. It’s the scent of the salty sea spray that intermittently caresses your face as the ship cuts through the waves. There’s a sense of space and a sense of.. freedom.
    That’s why I love Navegar.

Navegar is nice, very nice fragrance. Safe and delicate … not very loud not screaming not overpowering, just right and proper for any time any season. I know opinion that if something is for everything it means is for nothing but Navegar is perfect if you have bad days, if you feel tired by strong perfume, if you are looking for not common, not strange but still unusual niche and beautiful fragrance. In my opinion Navegar is unforgettable kiss of gentles creature born on our planet. Most delicate wind of sunny morning – the Mediterranean vacation on the Greek coast. A little journey in smal boat with friends. One of the most suggestive perfume I found in my life. I don’t want to be bastard but IMHO Navegar is not for everybody… to understand it’s beauty I would suggest to compare hundred of other fragrances with similar notes. If you are fragrance lover try first other fragrances by Olivia Giacobetti – Navegar hold her soul. It is so well balanced and delicate as her other most most sophisticated beauty.
But let’s go to perfume. In my opinion Navegar is a little related to Chanel no 18 – fruity, citrusy, a litle dirty. Gentle but still prominent for long time. This is for sure skin scent that will refresh you giving good feeling in bad moments. Ginger is prominent but it isn’t strongest note. Together with anise both play first role as sweet-fresh-hot elements. The freshness is green, fresh elements are watery, hot is peppery. Than woods develop with rum. The combination of green elements with rum and woods make Navegar very unusual. I don’t know other scent that is based on combination of so different and not related notes. But we have to remember who is the nose behind Navegar – the Quinn of perfumery Olivia Giacobetti. As in her other fragrances she gave us perfection, just perfection in the beautiful bottle that will never let you down.

It’s wonderful!! Soft, yes I agree, a soft aquatic rhum note and I also get a good whiff of the guaiac wood. The min point is indeed the sillage and lasting power, after 2 hours it s barely there.. But 2 wonderful hours of that limey Rhum note with the typical Artisanale like basic notes (as you can smell in La Mimosa, Fleur de Liane, Tibuktu, Verte Violette and many others..) you d instantly recognize it as an L’artisan:) great pleasure for a couple of hours. Maybe it will better last in hot humid summer days.

L’Artisan Parfumeur NAVEGAR is more of an aromatic woody than an oriental fragrance to my nose, as the lime and the ginger are the most dominant notes, along with the signature AP woody base.
All of the components which might have combined to produce a thick oriental perfume–pepper, incense, star anise, and rum–have been applied so judiciously as to be barely apparent. The point of this may have been precisely so as not to overwhelm, but the effect is instead to underwhelm, as the final product is cologne-like and the longevity is correspondingly poor.
This is not a feminine fragrance at all, but women who like smooth woody aromatics could certainly wear it comfortably. Because of the strong lime and ginger notes and the clean and woody, low sillage drydown, NAVEGAR would be best for hot weather. In fact, perfect for sailing. (-:

Fresh and unisex it is, perhaps a little bit better suited for men. However, the first time I wore it I thought I smelled moist walls. Strange but true, and I still do.

the initial notes are spicy, pepper, anise, and a hint of lime, but not overwhelming.the drydown is more like incense and cedar. complex, as tessture says. very nice and fresh, truly unisex.

I don’t dislike any L’Artisan fragrances, they all smell good. I base if I want them on strength and longevity. Navegar is very light, so light that when I was testing it with others yesterday I couldn’t smell it. The others I was testing fatigued my olfactory enough that this was almost undetectable.
Today I tried it again, using about half a sample vial on my wrist. I just kept applying and drying it until half the vial was gone, in order to get a good whiff. All that was there is a light Ginger with lime on a Woody base with a very transparent incense note. Very light. Lime is the strongest note, and it’s a very weak Lime.
The light Citrus started to fade in half an hour, and was only detectable in an hour with my nose pressed against my arm.
It smells ok, nothing special about it.

Complex and layered, it starts almost like a department store aquatic. Luckily, it dries down to something more. Interesting combination of notes, but definitely try it before buying.
