The ill-begotten brother of Nautica Voyage. The one that was forgotten or never even recognized.
I accidentally purchased this early into my fragrance journey when trying to purchase the original Voyage. However, I am not displeased. I do wear this one, but it is not my go-to freshie (I prefer Chrome Legend over this one. No, they are not similar.)
It is synthetic, yes, as others have stated. However, synthetic isn’t always a bad thing. It’s soapy and musky with a salty aquatic vibe. A little bit of fresh mint in there to cool it down a bit too. It’s a sporty fragrance by nature, but not just for the gym. You can get away with this in casual clothes as well, but it is not to be dressed up. It is not refined and polished enough for that. You can wear it for just about any other warm-hot weather situation though.
This is not a masterpiece, I would say it’s not even great. However, for what you pay for it is a decent fragrance that lasts a good 5-6 hours and can get compliments. It might be a better fragrance if the original Voyage wasn’t such a star, but alas, it is.
Overall, I think it is decent. It’s not a must-have in your collection, but it is worth owning if you are starting out and looking for some fragrances that can serve several purposes.
Best uses: Gym, lazy summer weekend, lake party, etc.

Very generic fresh and synthetic smell. I don’t recommend it.

First initial blast is a mix of citrus and some sort of paint remover or something, which I don’t really like it.
Then after 15 mins or so, it settles down to a subtle-fresh citrus soapy smell. It’s quite noticeable because it lingers from time to time.
    Based on my DRY skin
    Projection = below 1hr
    Longevity = 3-5hrs
Wearabilty = Casual, ExerFreak and Work.
Conclusion – LIKE because it’s cheap and the drydown smell.
Blind buy – Nope, pls try.

Everyone’s skin chemistry and nose is different for sure, but my boyfriend wears this one and I actually really like it! I’d say 8/10. And very affordable.

I did NOT like this as I found it synthetic, off putting and it had promise and I liked what they were going for with this scent but on my skin this just fell flat. But to be fair, cardomom is a very present note in this scent and cardomom has been a note that’s been hit or miss with my skin chemistry.
This opens up very promising as it has a very inviting, fresh laundry by the sea side vibe that’s very pleasant and nice but after 2 minutes that nice opening fades and there’s a really weird note that to my nose smells like a barn but to my fiancées nose smelled like feet. Needless to say she politely asked that I never wear this again.lol . If this stayed linear and smelled like it did in the opening I would rock this for sure but I definitely don’t want to smell like a barn or feet so I’ll pass.
Performance on this also wasn’t great as it lasted 2-5 hours and projected very poorly. Such a shame as Nautica has released some very solid scents such as Nautica Blue,Voyage and Pure Discovery !
Overall rating — 3 out of 10! Very poorly constructed fragrance that only gets 3 points for having a nice opening.
Sidenote— what caused this fragrance to flop was the spicy mint and the cardomom just clash making this smell kind of foul 🙁

this is the first Nautica I ever bought. I like this very much. I give it a 7.5 out of 10 for me.

I had this fragrance for awhile and honestly it was so disappointing very bitter and just all around not good. I even gave it away due to how much I didn’t like it. I haven’t smelled the original Nautica voyage in awhile so that could be it. Will update once I smell it again.

i picked this up for 20 bucks at ross today and i was pleasantly surprised ,i really enjoyed this fragrance and cant wait to use it in the summer months. Its a really good safe aquatic scent and to me, reminds exactly of Yves Saint Laurent Y Yves Saint Laurent , which you cant get for less than like 70-80 bucks right now even on ebay. performance and projections leave much to be desired but every fresh aquatic i buy never lasts more than 4-6 hours, period. it must be my chemistry idk

Bought this for a steal with another frag on FragranceX.
I prefer this over Nautica Voyage.Yes an aquatic/type aromatic sort of scent. Fresh and spicy with lavender being prominent throughout the wearing of this fragrance. I get a tiny bit of mint and cardamon with sandalwood and musk.
It has some depth with a soapy vibe as it dries down. Lovely bottle and juice colour!
Many say bad longevity? I get 5-7 hours as I stay hydrated and apply body lotion to my hands, wrists neck and arms which helps frags last on your skin.
Top notes are sea notes, spicy mint and petitgrain; middle notes are cardamom, nutmeg and lavender; base notes are musk, sandalwood and cedar.

Excellent for the gym!!!!! If u want a sport like fragrance that smells similar to a nice quality deodorant but with more longevity get this one!

I wear this all year round to the gym, on dates, everywhere and I always get compliments. Apparently when mixed with female pheromones it smells different, or rather it really just smells different on every person that’s why I can understand the mixed reviews. You have to find the scents that suit your natural oils. For me, I love it and others love it on me (many guys have believed it be a perfume). It’s definitely a favorite of mine. And for the price, it’s a steal. I used to buy Romance by Ralph Lauren but it ends up being too sweet on me like most perfumes. This cologne creates that perfect balance I’m looking for.

I have a vintage but soap soap soap!!! I hate soap smell’s in colognes I really do, but to be fair
I do pick up mint and can see the ceder can see the influnce of the cardamom but not really showing it’s self kind hiding while leading the mint in another direction not really into it seems kind of a weird direction theres also a note in there not sure what it is but don’t really like it, smells a little bitter don’t see watermelon as a note but it has a hint of that out skin cucumber thing going (not sweet) actually out side of the bitter note, it’s really not that bad!
it is definitely masculine (Don’t ware this ladies!) very fresh out the shower scent
waiting an hour to finish this review for dry down
k it’s dryed down to having that watermelon skin/cucumber with ceder still has a slight hint of the mint but really only noticeable if you are looking for it, the bitter thing is gone but slightly threatening to turn a little sweet while not doing it if you know what I mean it’s an interesting scent to smell through the notes but don’t like to ware this one, or really like it, simply it’s not really unique I can think of a few soaps growing up this is very VERY close to(suspicion of cloning those soaps scents)! so nope me no likey!!

I Love and enjoy this fragrance. It was a blind buy, and I don’t regret it.

This one was a total let down. This doesn’t even deserve to be a flanker of the original Nautica Voyage, which is much much better. Do yourself a favor and get the original if you’re considering this one.

  16. :

What a letdown from the original Voyage. Completely average smell, about as complex as drywall. Unfortunately a miss all the way around. Hard to keep pace with Nautica Voyage, Original voyage has pretty much carved out greatness for itself in this crazy world of colognes, perfumes and inbetween scents. This N-83 version falls flat though, it’s become another running shoe air freshener like my Chancel Bleu and English leather black.

I really don’t understand all the bad reviews here. Indeed, it’s not a powerhouse heavy smell you wear at night to impress the ladies (or men), but I think it is a very pleasant and light cologne, which is perfect for a spring-or summer daywear. It’s light, flowery and aquatic. Very pleasant, brings me in a good mood instantly and this all at the price for which it’s no problem to overspray (which you can”t). This one I will buy each summer, it’s a solid 8!

I smell tested this at Walmart the other day. I tested it on the back of my hand. It smelt OK but unremarkable. I think it died on me rather fast. It’s inexpensive like most of Nautica’s men’s fragrance line, even for drug store aquatic scents but I rather get a regular Nautica Voyage bottle for having a light, fun scent or Cool Water Night Dive for a minty aquatic like this scent tries to be. In short, I give this a pass.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

I’m usually not extremely picky, I try to give everything a fair chance, even if it smells synthetic or cheap. This is a different story though, I smelled it on a magazine tester strip and it smelled very nice–creamy, musky, and slightly minty. Even though it was new, I got a 3.4 oz bottle for an extremely low price (which is why I bought it without trying it). Now I expected this to be weak as a Nautica fragrance, but this makes them seem pretty decent and I’m glad it’s so light. This scent is harsh and screechingly musky, nowhere near as nice as that tester strip. I’ve worn it several times, and its only redeeming quality is that you can bathe in this stuff to freshen up and the unpleasant scent will disappear very quickly.

Imagine a bouquet of flowers smashed, submerged in a glass of cold water for a few days- That’s what this smells like. Performance is the definition of sporadic. In short, stay away from this, even with the price considered

    This is a blind buy.
I don’t know where the dislike is coming from. That’s why I take fragrance reviews with a grain of salt. Scentwise, this one’s quite pleasant.
Most of the notes are accurate. Aquatic, fresh, salty and later on, slightly bitter. The sea notes, musk and lavender are the stars of the show here while the other notes are buried in obscurity.
I haven’t tried the original Voyage since I’ve read that it is similar to Kenneth Cole Reaction(makes me nauseous). I’m glad many say this has nothing to do with the original Voyage. Nice bottle too. 🙂

This one started off with a blast of cough syrup type scent, then calmed to something a lil more pleasant. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend this, but it is different a from the original Voyage.

  23. :

The perfume smells perfect on all notes , weather they are top, middle or base, but the one thing I am really disappointed is the longevity its a crap on this its only 4 n half hours then its totally gone not a single flank of smell remains after that. I won’t buy this anymore also I haven’t wore the traditional Nautica Voyage I would consider buying that.
    Smell 8/10
    Sillage 6/10
    Longevity 2/10

I don’t know how to start with this bottle of fragrance ….it is clean, fresh with an immensely overwhelming marine notes. don’t hate it or don’t like it either. Very moderate longevity. it is not memorable..smells more like cheap cologne available everywhere

Just got this as a blind buy because I had a rough idea it would be some kind of aquatic and it was only like $15 at TJ Maxx for a 3.4 ml. Before I even opened it I checked the notes to see what kind of scent it might be and they seemed fine with me. For the price this really isn’t bad at all. No sure what the dry down will be like but so far its very fresh smelling, the sea notes are much milder than in some other aquatics. If the longevity is decent this could be my warm weather cologne for a while, seems pretty non offensive and safe to me so far.

Nautica the king of the aquatics… I like this one.I have the original but this is not half bad! Was expecting something awful based on the reviews but I couldn’t get to dislike it. It’s fruitier in my opinion and can be worn by both sexes.

  29. :

    4 out of 5

Nautica Voyage N-83 seems to get its fair share of criticism, and the assumption that this is due to the success of Nautica Voyage is fair, but in evaluating N-83 in its own right, it’s an agreeable but obviously unimpressive aquatic. Still, it’s pleasant in the way most aquatics are pleasant. The “marine notes” factor in prominently, along with lavender and musk, and even some cedar adding sweetness. Projection isn’t bad, and longevity obviously leaves something to be desired, but given how cheap this is (I believe I bought a 100ml at Marshall’s for $17 or $20), one can afford a few more sprays per wearing.
As a side note, it’s helpful to consider that there is a time and place for weaker fragrances. That N-83 isn’t a projection monster or long-lasting can both be assets if you want to wear something lighter for work or just going out casually for a few hours but not be all over you when you go to bed.
Certainly worth a spray to see if it’s a cheap designer option that suits you—I certainly find it agreeable.

Not sure why this one is getting so much hate. My only assumption is that because it’s a flanker of a critically acclaimed fragrance, people set their standards way too high when smelling this. This really isn’t bad at all, in fact, I think it’s pretty decent. Is it better than the original Voyage? Absolutely not, but I don’t think this should be getting bashed as much as it is.
This is essentially Nautica Voyage with a powerful lavender kick. The musk is notably more prominent in this one as well. This retains the clean, fresh, aquatic smell that the original has, just with a slightly more masculine edge to it. I also think this bears some similarities to Nautica Blue, mainly in the drydown. I believe this is marketed as Voyage’s night-time equivalent, but this can be worn in the daytime just as easily.
Like all of Nautica’s fragrances, the performance is still very much lackluster. You’re probably going to get 4 hours at the very best, wearing this. The scent stays very close to the skin too, possibly even more than the other Nautica fragrances. After an hour, the only way you’re going to smell this is if you stick your nose directly onto your skin.
Would I recommend this? No. It’s not as bad as some people are making it out to be, but I still don’t think it’s that good overall. The smell is good, but the performance is pretty bad. I still recommend the original Voyage over this.

I don’t see why people dislike this so much. I don’t own it but I would like to. I’ve smelled a tester for this several times at Target. I think it’s a very clean and fresh masculine scent that’s not overpowering. The dry down has an aquatic feel, like you’ve been traveling the seven seas having various grand adventures, and this is the story that tells it. This fragrance must’ve been kissed by a mermaid. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

  32. :

I mistook this for the original Voyage. This is the worst perfume I ever bought. Sprayed it 10x to my clothes, and it disappeared within an hour. Even the cheapest perfume knockoff can last for 2 hours. All my families did not even realize I used a perfume while they were standing only 1 feet away talking to me. This company sells mainly alcohol in a nice bottle !!!

I have this one, it’s very aquatic but not the best aquatic cologne out there
For age group, mostly younger guys, or guys going to school
    Cons:
Poor silage(only to length of elbow)
Poor longevity, only lasts 5 hours on my skin so I have reapply at school.
Get the gift set, but even the shower gel doesn’t last long with the cologne, but it lasts about 6 1/2 hours
So just get a Dove Men Plus Care shampoo for mixing fragrances. When I used Dove Men shampoo then applied Nautica Voyage N-83, it lasted me through the whole day
    Stronger silage and projection
    Scent: 7.5/10
    Silage: 6/10
Projection: 7/10(it is light so apply a little more for the colder months)
    Versitilty: 8/10, smells sorta unique
    Overall: 7.5/10
Don’t get it cause it’s 7.5/10, but if you want a aquatic cologne that’s light, clean, fresh, then get this one

As others have said it smells fresh, clean but so generic. It’s just another aquatic with no personality at all and has the same quality as a supermarket cheap deo-spray (Axe,denim, etc)
On my skin it has poor sillage and weak longevity…it’s a pass for sure!

  35. :

    4 out of 5

Continues in what seems to now be an almost decade long tradition of yawn-inducing, uninspired, generic “clean” and “aquatic” scents from the house of Nautica.
I can think of no reason why this fragrance exists. There is literally nothing interesting about it. It smells good, certainly, but it has no intriguing or defining features. Hell, even the bottle and the label design are cheap, 2 second redesigns of the original Voyage. Which brings me to my second complaint: why call this Voyage, if it has literally nothing in common with it’s namesake? Why bother? This smells NOTHING like Voyage. If anything it smells more like Nautica Blue.
The initial spray is nice. Not interesting or unique, but not bad either. I can detect a hint of what comes accross to me as licorice. But it is very short lived. Within a few minutes, you are left with a dry-down that is nearly skin close and basically smells like Nautica Blue. With a little more time and craftsmanship they could render something really nice from that initial licorice scent, but, alas, it is gone in seconds and with it any chance of intrigue.
So, I repeat my initial inquiry: why release this? I simply cannot understand Nautica’s mentality of releasing unmemorable, generic scents back to back to back. WHY??? I am not knocking this scent, it doesn’t smell BAD. But the fact is, if it smelled bad at least I would REMEMBER it! I could literally only pick out maybe one Nautica scent from a blindfolded test since Voyage (and that one would be Discovery because it smells like Orange Glo).
Nautica: STOP releasing half-assed, uninspired, axe-bodyspray-like “fragrances” right and left. You are tarnishing and cheapening the integrity of the brand and pissing off long time fans, such as myself.
Once again, to experience true Nautica: pass and go directly to Voyage and pretend this never happened.

Love the original Voyage. I get more compliments with that one than some of the high-end designer frags and niche frags I own. I was excited when I received N-83, but quite frankly…it SUCKS!!!!! I gave it to my father even though I collect frags as a hobby. I don’t even want it for collection purposes. It doesn’t smell bad, but it doesn’t smell good either. Smells like your wearing clothes that have been washed with too much laundry detergent. Just a very strong laundry detergent smell for the first hour then it quickly becomes a skin scent. PASS ON THIS ONE!

Love Nautica Voyage, but this is a terrible flanker.

  40. :

Basically a softer version of Joop Nightflight. Which is a very good thing. Although Nightflight had some strong moments, there was no getting away from that overwhelming tobacco and laundry detergent accord that could be too much for many. Voyage N-83 starts in a wonderfully fresh fashion. Just enough clean and softness to bring a smile to your face without stiffling the senses like Nightflight. The drydown is fresh with a little nutmeg to give a unusual yet attractive effect. A nice surprise and one I would happily have in my fragrance collection. Top marks for the first hour or so before it becomes a pleasant skin scent. Very relaxing and simply nice to those who smell it.

I really don’t know what to say about this fragrance. A salesperson at Macy’s gave me a sample because I like Voyage. The two have nothing in common. This just smelled like alcohol and an attempt at something fresh. I gave me a headache. Thankfully the longevity and projection are horrible. I was completely disapointed because I think voyage is a great cologne that I would highly recommend.

Smells very much like Pure Nautica. Basic, run-of-the-mill pleasant fruity-spice-sweet-musk cologne that would make a good gift for a young guy who isn’t into fragrances.

A copy, oh excuse me, a BAD copy of avon’s Blue rush. I love some nautica fragrances for being simple and fresh, but this is a bad one…a very bad one.

It seems all of the recent Nautica mens fragrances have that same synthetic smell to them. At any rate, I get an aquatic with cardamom and some mint. Projection is soft and longevity is weak. Not recommended.
