Warning, leather in this case means sheep and not cattle!
    It is so weird…

I have a sample of this, which had failed to win me over until today. On a whim, I dabbed some on my wrists and went outside to have my coffee in the morning sun. Sitting there the air suddenly seemed fresher and greener, like some magic garden gnome had cut the lawn during the night and pruned a whole lot of bushes. It was truly lovely, not particularly feminine but very “nature”-smelling.As I sat there my mind and mood rode this scent to the ancient woods of Sintra mountain in Portugal. Anyone who knows this place, walked along the moss covered rock walls and the sun dappled gothic gardens of the palaces will get this; I felt that this was a perfume directly inspired by this scenery. Green, but dark green, as from vegetation that has been there for thousands of years, a druids playground.
This scent could never be a signature scent, but is perfect for a particular mood at a specific time, like an ode to nature, to mossy pathways through millenial woods.Very beautiful.

What a delicate, sorrowful, multi-layered pile of hay!

Beautiful elegant bottle. High quality and luxurious brand.
However, Myths to me is too green, too dry woodsy-leather and simply too intense.
The scent is unique and I find the dry down does slightly go less intense; however, it’s not made for my body chemistry. But on the right person I can imagine it would be the stunning perfume it’s meant to be.

    scent : 8/10
    sillage : 8/10
    longevity :8/10
    70% day / 30% night fragrance
    nice feminine green scent
reminds me a little bit of Eau du Soir Sisley (not similar)

Very aromatic, heavy scent with an oriental vibe. Not bad, but far too intense for me. I can smell almost only spices and maybe a bit of sharp greens.

Sharp edge of a blade, shavings of steel, a bitter green pill. Very little floral about this one. It is reminiscent of Miss Balmain, not quite as friendly but rather standoffish. And it refuses to let go of your skin. If you like Alliage types then Myths is for you.
Do not buy it blind! Nurse a squirt or two for a day to see the chemistry unfold on your skin.
Much as I loved Alliage and Miss Balmain back in the day, Myths induces a wave of nausea in me every time I sniff my wrist. I’m ok with indolic and a hint of compost, but this ones not for me.
I just got a fresh bottle, blind, the purple seduced me. If anyone wants it, they can have it for half of what I paid. Only one squirt is all I used! Send me a message.

A fellow perfumista once remarked (and I fully concur with this sentiment) that Amouage comes under fire no matter what sort of new fragrance they introduce. On the one hand, people moan that the company has set a low standard with un-Amouage-like scents such as “Lilac Love” or “Blossom Love” (a deviation from the company’s Arab roots is often quoted as the main complaint). Others, on the other hand, feel uncomfortable when Amouage releases a fragrance that does not follow suit, blaming its outlandish composition for its unwearability. “Myths Woman” is a case in point for the latter.
The thing that immediately struck me when I first sampled “Myths Woman” was how uninviting it smelt. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean this is an unpleasant aroma, it just flatly refuses to play the usual repertoire of tricks. There are no seductive sweet notes, no tangy spiciness or soft woodiness. This is an outdoorsy perfume which transports you right into the middle of a narcissus-and-chrysanthemum flowerbed. In addition to the flowers, you can catch light whiffs of composted soil to intensify your experience of the “great outdoors”. In about two hours, the perfume invites you to enter a different place: a dimly lit bar. However, you can’t help noticing there’s something odd about it: it’s deserted and the only trace of human presence is a stale smell of sweat mixed with cigarette smoke.
There’s no doubt “Myths Woman” is a nod to leathery green chypres of a bygone era. It successfully emulates not only their composition, but also a trademark feature of this category of scents, namely an air of standoffishness. “Myths Woman” may never become the signature fragrance of “shiny, happy people”, yet I’m sure some daydreamers and wanderers will be able to uncover and bask in its rugged beauty.

Daring! Verging on classic chypre with a touch of modern.
This is green on so many levels, and I couldn’t handle it at first. Oakmoss assault wowzers. Dry fusty, spiky oakmoss, with a sweeter stemmy galbanum underneath, THEN add a peppery green patchouli to the mix and its mega foliage. This is an aggressive Chypre that doesn’t match the purple bottle at all.
It’s a multi layered mega green with sun baked florals adding to the dryness. I mean, Amouage really went for the jugular with this one. It took 4 smells to actually try and “get it”.
I would put it in the same bracket as Bracken, but where bracken gets it’s greeness from fern (and is prettied up a bit by berries) this one is full on shrubbery.
There is a definite, non overpowering nature skank in here, like trodden on petals or, flowers left in a vase too long and…. it kinda works!!!
Fairly linear with oakmoss always at the forefront till the end.
This one gives some of the classic hardcore chypres a run for their money, I mean…Aliage? Move over!
    🙂

It is strange indeed when you let go of something and you feel the stinging urge to get it back any which way. It doesn’t happen often to me but it did with this.
I blind bought a bottle and put it on… Narcissus and violet with a musky undertone, reminiscent of fresh cut stems in the dry down and that’s about it… Didn’t think much of it and I sold my bottle but a week down the line the memory of it irked me so much that I didn’t find peace until I got another bottle.
So onto what I get from this bottle; an indolic barnyard kind of Narcissus which stays for a few hours. I suspect this barnyard aspect would be more prominent in the winter months. I am not getting much violet in this but I think it mingles with the musky tones in the later stages alongside a smoky Chrysanthemum (since everyone says it is smoky so I think this is what lends the smoky nuances). I can’t for the life of me describe this one and that’s what usually happens when I like something so much.
I started wearing it in Spring and now it is Summer and it has been performing well enough from morning into the evening without me having to reapply. I would say if it projected more than an arm’s length then it wouldn’t be as scintillating to me. It doesn’t fill a room and it’s not as such closer to the skin either. I think it has the ability to turn people on in close quarters as I have experienced with its semi dirty allure (smokiness?) but it doesn’t have any seductive qualities/notes so maybe this contradictory concoction is the ‘Myth’? It is indeed, ha ha!
I wore it on a very hot day and discovered a different facet to it in the heat and sweat where I feel the notes really opened and came to life. In the dry down I do feel a green leathery chypre vibe ala Bandit albeit a very faint one and the similarity is just in passing.
This to me is like ‘Sunshine’ in a bottle and I sense yellow in the beginning stages. The purple colour denotes the dry down stages perfectly but it would have been better in the Myths Man bottle or a smoky grey/purple kind of colour which is my only gripe with this offering but by no means a deal breaker!
Myths is a great release from Amouage and I applaud them for their creativity. I wish it wasn’t marketed at women because I think this is quite a sexless and an oddly sexy fragrance, whatever sexy and sexless is.
I would not hesitate to jump at the chance of having another bottle of this because it is something I am wearing a lot. It is different, it is unique so to speak and not for everyone. A big LOVE from me 😀

A leathery-green chypre with a dark flowery side. A fantastic, original, deep, classy one. If you like Lilac, Blossom or perfumes like these you won’t probably like Myths. I’m in love, that’s what I expect from an House like Amouage.

This does *not* smell anything remotely like Gwen Stefani’s fragrance! I don’t know why it’s received a few votes leaning towards that direction…
After reading all the negative reviews, I must say that Myths Woman turned out to be THE biggest surprise…I love when that happens!
Both Ojibwa’s and hollyc’s reviews do a great job of describing it…This is a wonderfully earthy, green-on-steroids EDP thanks to the narcissus, moss and galbanum notes … this mighty green smacks one in the face, but in a good way…
MW morphs into a super classy, mildly leathery, dangerously narcotic beauty … At the drydown stage, a hint of clove peaks through this complex formula of a fragrance, as the moss note stays intact…Suzy S also mentions that MW is a ‘modern chypre like flowers’ type of perfume — indeed it is…orsetta’s defense of MW is most understood…*high five*
This fragrance is not for the faint of heart…or nose…I honestly don’t get a ‘bad/morning breath’ vibe from it … I do get a little bit of the patch, violet leaf and a smidge of the ambergris …
The chrysanthemum and labdanum notes included in the description above are actually part of the Myths Man fragrance description, so don’t expect the chrys or labda to be there…
My biggest problem with this fragrance? Now I have to worry about getting my hands on a full bottle…

PS: dont let the carnation scare u away: easy piece. And I’m myself in a extreme carnation-allergy period now. If I just smell a HINT of it, it’s OVER for me ( my old canation scents un weared in closet now ..tsshhh )
    Go for it.

    Aaah Mohd ………hold your horses…..patience..
First time I smelled it last winter it repulsed me…..and now I’m ‘gone’. Complete total topsyturny, ddont remember WHAT irritated me then. It’s GOOD. Light. Ladylike. Modern chypre like. Flowers. But redeemed. NO traces of oudh , incense, ambers and heavy resins , which defines so many classics of this house, at least as ‘ultimate trace’ ( like Guerlain’s utimate ‘trace’is the powdery caracter of the very last basic notes). So I conclude that in this weather ( warm ! 26 celcius) and mood ( light, gazelle- light) ………it’s just a very nice , classic, but with a tiny bitsy accent of NEW, feminine ( yes , I have my moods LOL ) ..and I cant stand Journey anymore ( was a love, can u believe? blame the osmanthus ..) nor Gold ( samples, but : scrubber, kitsch powder/facial cream, no breath ) andd if Epic or Interlude or Memoir ( all woman) are NOT my mood ( like now ) .I can only say : I’m wearing it, as the only Amouage female that I can handle NOW ( Lyric has always been too ‘classic’ and too ‘rose’ for me )in these specific weather and mental condditions, I pick THIS particular female , or wear my Opus7 or 9 when more ‘beast’or Memoir-MAN when more ‘fougere legere ‘.so there must be something good and effective in this scent, not FLABBERGASTING, DRUNKEN MAKING revolutionary, but which are ??? I can say after a few years n which I have, wear and test so many different Amouages, that even those reviewed by so MANY, for so ( too) long, as the ‘indegestive and/or repulsive AmouageBlack Sheeps’, I mean Opus 7 and 9 , my initial loves, ….I can say that now even these two bandits have become VERY cozy to me, NORMAL, decent , functionals ( Opus7 already from start was my resistent ‘at work ‘ day-scent in summer, now also Opus9 is ‘normal daily–no- worry- about – surrounding -they -hardly smell-any ) and so it’s better to aim high and fall slow and softly , then to aim low and fall quickly still hungry . What I mean , Mohd…..TIME, you just started with this house, it took me 6 months to just APPROACH Opus9 ……then I was GONE. And since then they became easy familiar classic. ( Opus 7 ….a cozy forest now, so what was all the bla bla at start about eh ….???)…….
I advice Myths to ladies who love ( gentle, grassy, fieldy ) flowers, class, and the classic chypres, this one is adapted to MOW: gentle, descreet, but present for the wearer,

    Another negative review.
First I’ll start by saying I appreciate the originality, I believe brands like Amouage are made for those of us who want to stand out and not follow trends.
With that being said, this is one of the very few Amouage fragrances that I really dislike from the ones I’ve tried so far, to me.. it’s nauseating and offensive. Oakmoss is definitely the main player, I detect something green and grassy as well, I don’t know what Chrysanthemum smells like but the combination overall is very mossy and reminds me a little bit of morning breath. That’s honestly the best way I can describe it.
No offense to anyone who loves this scent, if it works well on you, then yay for you! I also tried the men’s version which I really like but there’s a common note that I detect in that one as well which is stopping me from completely loving it.

Myths Woman is beautiful but evidently it’s too much out of the mainstream box.
you get the full field of narcissus flowers mixed with the smell of their stems and the ground the grow in.
I think if people are familiar with flowers only as a cellophane wrapped bouquet bought in a supermarket and the garden is just a place where you have a barbecue, then it’s rather hard to get a scent which gives the whole panorama of flowers and plants (moss!) combined with animalic notes.
I have to say that I also find ironic that people complain about the more mainstream character of the more recent Bracken Woman or Lilac Love but when Amouage releases something rather unique like Myths Woman, then it’s seen as too weird…

The opening of this is interesting, a very nice green scent with violets and the smell of cut flower stems. However, it wore off into a musty scent of decomposition. This was good for a bit but ultimately, I did not enjoy this perfume.

Today was the day of “alternative facts”. Well, this is an alternative myth. An acrid mess. Old adhesive. Stagnant florist water. Post-op breath.
    I could go on…but I can’t.

Wow – and not in a good way. What started out as herbal/floral and fresh in 3 hours turned into an utterly putrid smell. I was rubbing my wrists and neck with alcohol to remove it as I could not wait to get home and shower it off. I have to say that I was in shock when the rubbing alcohol did not completely remove the scent. If this is a scent that you like, you’ll be pleased to know about the longevity, it does last all day. However it is not for everyone and certainly was not for me.

Was dying to get my nose on this, after having read so many controversial and mostly negative things about it online. Moreover, I have been rocking Myths Man for the last few months, as virtually my “signature” scent, so I was keen to compare the two.
Right off the bat, I will say that Myths Man is the better fragrance, in my opinion, with its bright, bold, dramatic brush-strokes. Myths Woman also conveys drama, but it is of the faded Hollywood-actress kind. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the fragrance is its seemingly weak strength and silage. It feels almost too soft and subtle (not what we tend to expect from Amouage).
The mossy overtones dominate, and there is definitely a moldy, rotting vegetal quality to this perfume (which I admittedly find quite fascinating). Floral notes struggle to break through the old dead and rotten leaves.
UPDATE: (I’ve got it! That’s what it is! Compost. The exact smell of garden compost. A pile of grass-clippings, leaves and dead flowers composting in the sun.)
Amouage have absolutely nailed the idea of a sort of haughty, faded glamour and melancholy with this perfume (it is a sad, sad fragrance – much sadder than Myths Man in my book). Where it gains points for artistic creativity, it loses them in terms of wearability and wide appeal.
I can’t easily imagine this fragrance appealing to a younger woman, unless she were consciously trying to evoke a persona of faded glamour and melancholy. However, I think most women want to convey a sense of ACTUAL glamour, vivacity, and life.
All in all though, another fascinating and addictive piece of art by Amouage.

This smells almost exactly like vintage Miss Balmain. I don’t get the other comparisons at all. I think it’s just that the mossy note is so rare these days that people are comparing it willy-nilly to anything with moss. But this has a sharp quality that’s almost identical to Miss Balmain.

EN. Normally I order both fragrances of the same line from Amouage, so this time I’ve bought Myths pour Homme and pour Femme also. I won’t describe here the perfume itself, since there are already a lot of really great reviews. I just have to tell you that the female version of Myths is much more feminine this time, than, for example, in the female variation of Beloved, so, try it for a few days before you decide to buy it, because it is not so obvious that you’d like what you smell.
IT.

Amouage jumped the shark when their shift from Eastern to Western style devolved into pandering to popular tastes. Myths Woman, however, is somewhat of a return to form in that the brand’s produced a scent that’s pensive, stony, and not stuffed with cookie dough / caramel. The opening is violet leaf — a material that, when untamed, smells metallic bordering on medicinal. Here it’s teamed with a great leathery ash accord and bulked up with vague fatty florals that read more as an oily, rapeseed than anything you’d stick in a vase. In time, the leather broadens and spreads, but it’s more car seat leather than biker jacket that’s cut with a touch of cardboardy iris, hinting at cosmetics without ever really going all the way. The result is a slithery, silvery-emerald kind of tone — one that’s scaled back and pleasingly subdued.
While I found Myths Man to be unspeakably bad (imagine how a snickers bar dipped in Aramis might taste and you’d be in the right ballpark), Myths Woman recalls the dark badassery of Memoir Man, softens it a touch via Opus VII (without the galbanum overdose), and ends in a great resting stare of indifference that’s in the same general vicinity as Narciso Rodriguez PH. And while this is one of the more gripping Amouages as of late, it doesn’t strike me as particularly lush nor is violet leaf a particularly spendy material as a little goes a long way (check out Masque’s L’Attesa if you want a richer, fuller scent with a similar feel). Therefore, I’d suggest that if this is your thing, give it six months and grab it at a fraction of the price when it inevitably ends up on fragrancenet. A solid release — at least for Amouage circa 2016.

Anyone who doesn’t like this must be trying a different perfume. This is a heavenly mix of barnyard narcissus, rich dreamy florals and delicate suede. It takes no prisoners and every note screams quality and masterful blending coming together to form a beautiful, retro, animalistic floral like they used to make decades ago. Sillage is perfect and longevity good at about 6 – 8 hours of constantly changing notes. Thank you Amouage, you deserve my hard earned money for this one. I’m buyin’ this beauty! xoxo!

Not for me unfortunately as I was hoping to love it but I won’t judge the popular and well reputed House of Amouage on this newest release perfume. As most reviewers will know, Amouage are known for their quality. I’m thinking I may have liked the male version more being a unisex type of gal. Not many florals ‘do it’ for me.

This is the first Amouage I have tried. I was expecting so much more; especially considering I have seen so many rave reviews for this house.
The initial blast is of anise, but that quickly disappears and leaves a green floral/herbal scent. I think I might have preferred it more if the anise stuck around a bit longer.
The heart of the perfume is of a generic, peppery, male cologne. It isn’t very pleasant at all
Sillge is about a foot, and longevity is medium.
I’m glad I tried this as a sample, since I do’t think this is a safe blind buy at all.

Just trying this today as I am out on my deck lazing in the sun with a strong breeze coming in off of my lake. Perhaps these are not fair conditions in which to form my opinion-
Myths is a sharp clean smelling fragrance but not soapy.
If Chanel’s Cristalle and Sisley’s Eau de Soir had a love child she would be named Myths.
I will give it another try when I am not sunning myself like a lazy cat-
Nothing offensive in the scent but I already have Eau de Soir and Cristalle so I don’t see the point of purchasing Myths.
Although ,I love the colour of the bottle so it may end up here eventually!

Received a sample of this a while ago.
Green, just a bit soapy, definitely mossy, with something sharp and oddly off putting — the chrysanthemum maybe, which is used in insect repellents as often as it is in perfumery.
As a self-described women’s fragrance, I would not know how to rate this. It would be a risky blind buy, let’s keep it at that.
But if you are a man, do yourself a favor and try this one. Yes, the bottle is cute and lavender colored. But try it nonetheless, you will be happily surprised.
This one is growing on me. I consistently find Amouage’s women fragrances much more interesting and wearable than their masculine versions, and this one is no exception.

The initial spray has a harsh anise smell to me. If this takes a very long time to hit the middle, I won’t be purchasing. I, too, was attracked to the bottle. Not necessarily the right way to buy petfume lol

I have tested this perfume for 2 days already and in my opinion, it’s a nice fragrance, not overwhelming, even a crowdpleasing actually.
The opening is definitely green and herbal due to the oak moss, then in the middle, moss is joined by a thick and edgy carnation. In fact, to my nose, it’s an oak moss combined with carnation perfume because I can’t pick up any other notes listed.
This combo feels classic, in the same vein with Eau du Soir by Sisley and maybe even watered down Mitsuko but it’s light enough so it can be worn all year around.

I just received this today from Amouage. I hadn’t smelled it before, but I love Amouage and the pretty box and bottle made an impression. Myths is a strange fragrance – the initial spray is very soft, very classic. Immediately following, a green note (moss?) appears and takes over. The problem is that the notes seem somewhat discordant and the result just doesn’t do wonders (at least not for me). The fragrance does not project much, staying close to the skin. The powdery dry down is nice though. Not my favorite Amouage, and something I may not wear again, but happy to have it in my collection.

ok lets review myths women.. the projection between arms after atleast 2 hours it become a skin scent.. its too light than reflection on me. myths women is a combination of ceil women with green note of oPus VII.. and it devolpe light powdery fresh DNA i guess in DIA MEN.. no bold at all.. if u preffer the most lightest scent go for it no one cant detect your fragrance even this juice expencive one. This is not a cup of my tea. im prefer myths men.

i haven’t voted on this perfume…but i do have an opinion on the recurring notion on fragrantica that nobody has smelled a fragrance that hasn’t been released yet. i get samples (some “unofficial” or unmarked) from my regular SAs months in advance. not trying to be a douchebag, just saying.
