Description

Intense and high-quality oriental fragrance Mirage by Oriflame, launched in 2010, got its first “sequel” in early 2013. It is named Mirage Daydream. Inspirations which were used to create the original, such as magic, mystery and fairy tales, are expanded with motifs of dreams, wishes and hopes that this new fragrance is supposed to represent.

Mirage Daydream is a delicate version that emphasizes romance and sensuality, designed for a modern Alice in Wonderland. It is a cloud of sweet chestnut aroma, vanilla and cedar, belonging to the oriental, woody and vanilla fragrance family.

Marie Salamagne created the fragrance of sweet chestnut and whipped cream that serve as an introduction to the heart of lily, Arabian jasmine and vanilla. Warm aromas of peru balsam, cedar and cocoa form its oriental base.

Available in soft pink bottle as 50 ml Eau de Toilette. It is a limited edition.

The original Mirage and I did not end up getting along due to the elemi note, but this is a different beast entirely, and by “beast” I mean a whimsical barely there something. Anything? I’m not sure if it’s just placebo, but I think there’s a hint of sweetness there? Maybe?

Mirage Daydream is a unique scent – it turns into different things on different people. I was quite intrigued reading the reviews. Lots of people claim it turns into quite dry and crispy cedar once they have worn it for a couple of hours. On me it is just sweet cream and airy soft feminine scent. Since the day I got this, I had so many compliments and questions both from men and women. For some reason this reminds me of a chewing gum, like a sweet pink cotton chewing gum scent with a bit of milkiness in it. Alas, it is lacking staying power on me. Lasts about 3-4 hours. However, I quite like the dry down on my skin, it is very thin and I always want to breathe that in.
Has absolutely nothing to do with Avon Secret Fantasy Wonderland. I love this scent and it’s a shame it’s been discontinued ;(

This is essentially, sugared water …my bad, gourmand! This and Prada Candy Kiss (luv it btw) are exactly alike with Kiss being slightly more muskier. The lasting power is average on my skin, perhaps 2 hours. The bottle doesn’t look as good as it does in the pictures. I fail to decipher any notes, bland and uninteresting.
But sometimes you gotta smell sweet. It has become my go to for comfort scent. If you are looking for something a bit more substantial I would try the new So Sweet from Lolita Lempicka 2017.

Description translated from Swedish: Scent that envelops you in an enchanting bouquet of chestnut, vanilla and cedar. Let yourself be swept away to a magical place where dreams and wishes come true.
At first I couldn’t feel a thing. Strange, but I think my nose was overwhelmed by much stronger perfumes before. I waited a few months and now I’ve discovered this beautiful scent. It’s particularly nutty and a bit chocolaty with a transparent, airy, dry, woody texture to it. Cozy, lightly sweet, powdery, delicious. I can’t see how or where the white flowers fit in, as they are non existent to me. I’m very surprised to see cedarwood voted the least noticeable note. It’s definitely there, interwoven with the chestnuts.
Highly recommended for gourmand lovers as well as lovers of airy and light perfumes. Don’t mistake the transparency for poor longevity. It actually stays on skin and clothes quite good. I like it more and more for every wear, and this has grown to become my favourite of Oriflame.

A sweet and delicate scent. When I saw it would be discontinued I bought 3 bottles! One of my favourite Oriflame scents.

I was quite disappointed with this. I excitedly won a new 50ml bottle off ebay unopened for £5. it smells like shea butter body lotion.. not a bad thing I guess but I just cant enjoy it. I suppose its not perfumey enough

Very pretty, very dreamy. The chestnut and whipped cream notes are strong but the floral notes also play a big role in keeping the scent from being overly sweet or flat. The scent is also pretty gentle and soft, but it stays around a long time. My boss actually told me I smelled like peanut butter the last time I wore it, but he’s a classless, tasteless a$$, so his comment was actually a big compliment. So glad I was able to find a bottle on eBay last year. Worth every penny.

It’s absolutely delicious and it really smells like nutella! I find it much more complex than my other gourmand perfume Gold sugar by Aquolina. Sillage is heavy on me. The scent itself is the nuttiest I’ve ever worn. It’s really mouthwatering. Ladies, try this one, your men will be delighted!

Sweet, soft, fluffy, nutty cream. Not quite hazelnut and not quite cacao, somewhere inbetween like a nutella nut but in no way is as sweet and strong as real nutella. Chestnut is not as rich as hazelnut. Mostly just an airy creamy smell. Absolutely delicate with almost no projection or lasting power. Makes a good summer gourmand. I am head over heels for the scent I just wished it lasted longer. I might buy it anyway it’s so good.

Just back with a tip from the genius angelpainter whose brilliance on another thread made mirage daydream one step closer to perfect.
For those like me having trouble with longevity and projection, here is what you do:
    1. moisturise with aveeno fragrance free moisturiser and then a tiny dot of argan oil (this was angelpainter’s fantastic tip) on inner wrists and elbows.
    2. Rub it in/leave for 10-15 mins
    3. Apply mirage daydream to oiled areas and on arms.
    4. Waft around in blissful cacao-chestnut cream gorgeousness for the rest of the day 🙂

Oh, this is just gorgeous. It is sweet and delicate. I get mostly vanilla with chestnut, and it is like smelling a fabulous cupcake – but not one of the ones which makes you feel sick after!
However, I am soooo disappointed with the sillage and staying power. It only lasts about half an hour and there is pretty much no sillage. In desperation I went to boots and tried Prada candy to compare, but it’s nothing like mirage daydream. Compared to mirage daydream, Prada candy is harsh and with boozy fumes.
Please, if anyone can tell me which perfume smells exactly like mirage daydream but lasts all day and night and has moderate sillage, please let me know and I will be forever grateful. Otherwise I don’t see me buying this again because it just doesn’t last, and that would be a tragedy!
Edit: I have tried everything I can think of to make this scent last, including unscented moisturiser, Vaseline on my pulse points and spraying on clothes. I have liberally reapplied throughout the day and have had some success with it, but it just doesn’t last long enough. So I have bought all the bottles under a tenner that I can find and hope that by the time the last one runs out I’ll have found a worthy and long-lasting alternative.

I love this sweet, soft and warm scent. It’s like you walked into cupcake bakery but this perfume is not the one which can give you a headache. It won’t stick with me the whole day (or even 6 hours) but at the same time it’s not expensive.
I think I would buy the next bottle of it.

Having shelf fully filled with perfume has a drawback.
I even forgot I have this cute creature!
Mirage Daydream was a blind buy.
I bought it because it was on sale in Oriflame catalog, and since the review sounded fine here, I thought, why not?
I have (and in love with) Cartier Baiser Vole, which gives me tons of pretty and grown-up lilies. Mirage Daydream smells like much younger sister of Baiser Vole. To me, what stands out is the “creamy lily”. Lily and Vanilla combo is gorgeous enough, but the cream seem to wear down the age.
Mirage Daydream is a happy fragrance. I can easily wear this on weekends for its stress-free character. Just, don’t get me wrong. This is not a young girl scent. Girls in mid to late twenties (or basically those who have just started their career) suits this perfume best.
Sillage is medium, and lasts for about 6-7 hours.
One thing however, this could be too loud for work.
Unless you do creative job, you might want something less striking 🙂

I really love this one, that was unexpected!
On me, it’s almost all cedar and I *love* that. I also smell a lot of whipped cream and a little bit of cacao.
On me, it’s not particularly sweet. It’s very dry (from the cedar and cacao) and only has a very slight sweetness. Despite this, I still find it to be light and airy. I have never smelled anything like it before.
Longevity is moderate and sillage is soft. The bottle is pretty but doesn’t really fit the scent, in my opinion.
I wore it for a day and immediately bought a back-up bottle.

Absolutely stunning fragrance. The whipped cream, vanilla and cacao blend together beautifully. This fragrance would be wonderful as an evening scent on warm days.

I wouldn’t wear this to rock concerts, but it’s perfect for easy breezy summer days – you know, spending time on the beach, wearing ditsy dresses and then this. On me it smells like whipped cream and vanilla, very dessert-like. The silage is not great, it also lacks in longevity.
I never get allergic reaction to perfumes, but I can’t use this on my skin (otherwise I’ll end up with a rash), so I have to spray it on clothes. It’s a pity, otherwise I really enjoy Mirage Daydream.

  18. :

Sweet, creamy and nutty it is… like luscious thick solid whipped cream with caramelized sugar and crumbled nuts on top! It smells nice and has a nice sillage on me for up to an hour after which it fades fast without a trace.
It’s definitely yummie while it lasts though and might work well enough when you just wanna snuggle up close to your ‘better’ half 🙂
    ♥♥♥♥♥

Scent and development: Fluffy, sweet, creamy and a little nutty. Smells like vanilla chestnut tart or marrons glacee but with a tiny savoury edge.
Nuttier and more toothsome in its drydown as if you were crushing roasted chestnuts to make flour.
Packaging: The bottle is attractive. Rosy pink bringing to mind an angora jumper. The box is dreamy resembling an impressionist painting. Overall quality is ok.
Longevity and sillage: Lasts around 6/7 hours as a ‘your skin but better’ type of fragrance projection only 10cm or so.

It is so sweet, sensual, creamy, delicate, soft and silky! I really was surprised about this scent, but I am a bit worried because I can not smell this after some minutes. This longevity is really weak or my nose just can not smell this when it is on my skin!?

Sweet chestnut is very dominant and very amazing ! Plus Alit of vanilla and cream 🙂 An amazing scent and lasts very good + good sillage…i totally love

I have the original and I hesitated forever to buy this one but how glad I am that I finally bought it, it’s true that DD is completely different from the original, and for me that’s a +ve thing, fumes don’t have to be identical in a way for us to realize there are versions of the same line.. I love the original, it’s heavy and has many layers, suitable for occasions and just amazing. Now, the reviews on DD weren’t encouraging, but it’s summer and I needed a fume with vanilla in it for the first time in my life.. a lady’s need is a must-have so I went for it, change is good :), I sprayed a spritz on my wrist 4 hours ago, it starts off with purely vanilla that’s not “yummy, edible, sweet, etc…” it’s unbelievably heavy vanilla like French vanilla in its intensity, few seconds later cedar and his fellow woody musketeers attempt successfully to invade the scent and then starts a battle that lasts for hours for every component to overthrow the other, will it be vanilla? or woody notes? then they finally decide it’s pointless to fight and decide to blend in together in a friendly way so that now that i’m writing the review 4 hrs later, I smell vanilla mixed with woody notes and the sillage is moderate to heavy which is good since I wanted smn summary to start with, but the longevity is still in the works, i’m counting the hrs ^^
p.s. the fume gets heavier by the hour, I love it now 🙂

    Thanx Allinug for a sample!
Sweet, sweet something.. almost like a schampoosmell. No Cedar, No Lily, no, cacao, No nothing – just very sweet and skinclose – and gone in 30 minutes.

Like sitting in a flower garden and eating a dessert heavy on whipped cream and fresh berries. I know berries are not listed here, but something reminds me of fresh strawberries, or maybe raspberries. Mirage Daydream has a similar malty drydown to Candy by Prada, but it is much more subtle. The scent is not strong or in your face, but it does stick to the clothes. Spray generously and indulge!

Yup, whipped cream, vanilla & lily … this’s exactly what I have on my wrist right now, creamy like yummy.. a little bit like cotton candy 🙂

Big disappointment. No chestnut, no whipped cream (however the perfume is creamy), only light flowers, tons of vanille in a creamy way. Not so unique.
Too fresh, too clean for me, in a loud way.
It really is familiar (but not the same) with one of my favourites – Prada Candy – just much fresher version, if you know what i mean.

I was so disappointed when I opened my blind buy – no cream, no sugar, no vanilla, only a tender, clean scent of lily and chestnut blended with extreme softness and a note of spring air.
I nearly sold it – I am anything but a lover of florals, whenever I meet a woman wearing a floral scent I tend to think that she’s lying to herself. Lying that she’s fragile, caring, sensitive, emotional and submissive, while her actual personality must be the very opposite apart from the emotional part – because it takes form in an egomaniac, agressive, non-beneficial, overall dull hysteria. This type of women is likely to give birth just to keep a guy and all that jazz (rather breakbeat or doom metal, I guess).
Yes, poor stereotype, I know, but as you can see, I had a good reason to dislike this perfume for the first sniff.
I went to sleep in a disappointed mood (I wanted to have first sex with my spring liaison in this scent, duh), sometimes leaning close to my wrist (it radiates within 2-3 inches), and feeling tormented but in some strange kind of comfort. I woke up 9 hours later in a smell of deep, sophisticated joviality – it lasted. Blue jeans, white shirt, yes. But with the most decent, yet shamelessly designed silver bracelet ever imaginable – you have to examine very closely to realise, that it’s a snake, and on nights of bad wine, bitter pouts and nihilistic, poisoned odium you sometimes hear its hiss.
For this overly complex feeling I can really put away my real, hardcore self, all the red dresses, androgynous wits, smokey eyes and gothic decadence.
This really wraps me in a dream, a dream which is not mine, but I’d miss it if I sold this vain pink cloud with the light blue (yet deep and somewhat dire) atmosphere within.

It smells dreamy, whiffs of tofu balsam, whipped cream, a real sweet scent, with candied wood undertones, if only the scent would develop more, or lasts longer, it would have been a must have for gourmand lovers . The top notes really are delicious, and the tofu balsam and cedar make it stand apart from sugary scents, but honestly I have a hard time smelling it on me after 30 mn . So it is a bit hard for me to recommend it, although I paid $30 for mine, so overall not a huge deal. Lovely, but it coud have been a lot more than a fluffy cloud of sweetness and woods.
