Millésime Impérial by Creed is a warm and romantic unisex fragrance, evocative of the citrus groves and beautiful seaside landscape of sunny Sicily.

This citrus marine scent opens with top notes of fruit and sea salt. Middle notes include lemon, bergamot, iris and mandarin orange. The base includes musk, woody and marine notes.

Millésime Impérial was launched in 1995. The nose behind this fragrance is Olivier Creed Sixth Generation.

A salty aquatic melon scent with an underbelly of the signature Creed ambergris. Relatively liner scent which has below average projection and staying power with an average silage. It’s a pleasant scent that won’t offend anyone (though not special enough to set you apart, either), but not worth retail (IMHO) due to it’s poor performance.
    Overall: ⭐⭐⭐/5

Yes..the fragrance is good but performance is below aevrage.. waste of money…

Beautiful, well-crafted fragrance. Certainly rates as one of Creed’s best in my book. Admittedly not a good skin scent, but works wonderfully on clothing with a 2-3 spritzes. Have found the gold bottle release to be superior.

It should be a federal offense to even mention Nautica’s Voyage in the same paragraph as Creed’s Millesime Imperial…
Let’s not be misleading please. They do not smell at all similar. They are on precisely opposite ends of the spectrum of fragrance quality. Nautica Voyage is the quintessential generic “blue” aquatic cologne you gift to people you don’t care about much. I understand that MI has disappointing performance for many people when considering the price, but it is objectively in a different league than that blue nauseating bargain-bin swill.

For the record, this smells nothing like Nautica Voyage. Like, at all…

Millesime Imperial is a fragrance that whenever I reach for it sets my mood up, improve my day. I heard lots of people complaining about longevity issues on this one, and I don’t think they are overreacting or so, but mine batch is a 2011 one and it’s longevity and projection it’s somewhere around 6 maybe 7 hours for longevity and 2 to 3 hours with a good projection. Now leaving this longevity issue topic aside, the aroma is one of the bests in the summer/spring days. A salty/marine breeze with a juicy and mouth watering watermellon, along with the well known musky accord of Creed’s house makes the whole composition into a delicious and incredible fragrance! This is the one that I dig the most when the weather gets warm.

Beautiful, one of my favourite summer scents if I want to smell good for 2 hours !

Already being a huge fan of Erolfa, It seems as though Imperial was cut from the same cloth. The inspiration for both were a salty aquatic with bright citrus notes in the top, light woods in the heart and the Creed ambergris note we all know and love in the dry down.
The difference here between the two of them is that Imperial has put a little more focus on the sea salt and aquatic notes, and it’s also exhausted the melon note which jumps out of the bottle at first smell.
I find these slight shifts in the DNA offer a more youthful and summertime focused scent profile, and possibly suited better with younger audiences.
That said, I find Erolfa is a bit more refined than Imperial, and has a little bit more to give in regards to heart notes and dry down when applied to skin. Some might also say it’s just better geared toward a more mature audience.
Where Imperial falls short is in the lasting power and longevity, which has been mentioned more than enough times here on Fragrantica. I can forgive those issues, because it is a classic, fun and playful aquatic that’s truly timeless and never fails to impress during the summertime.

Unbelievably perfect summer scent in its layered complex notes yet an underperformer in terms of longevity and projection. Quite a few notes of fruit at the opening: melon, lemon, bergamot in particular. The melon quickly fades while the other fruit notes remain. The salt/marine accord also hits me at the opening which seems to tighten the experience of the lemon and bergamot. After a few moments a floral note arrives, to my nose neroli-like, yet I am assured neroli is not specifically there. Probably an offshoot of the iris mingling with the bergamot in my nose. Within two hours light traces of the floral and fruit notes dance upon a wood and salty marine base, by my nose driven by ambroxan and perhaps a little natural ambergris, altogether incredible. The base is beautiful and gentle, utterly captivating, leaving me only with the desire that it was not merely a skin scent by the time it reaches dry down. Its dry down is nearly as heavenly as GIT yet far better tuned to the heat of summer. This is how summer should smell and, at the beach, the combination of wet sand, sea water, flowers and fruit in the offfing, and hot skin, they’re all here. Summertime perfection.
(As an aside, I first tested the scent in the dead of winter, and it struck me as a dead melon ball. Definitely not an all-around four season fragrance. It doesn’t matter to me because I don’t think it can be beat in the summer.)
Here I arrive at a conundrum: MI is at once beautiful and too dilute. There are three issues behind this conundrum. First, I love this scent, but I want more from a single application, namely, something that lasts like a true EdP. Second, it’s an issue for the sole reason of price: Creed MI is super-expensive for that sort of strength and it underperforms dollar-for-dollar. And the third issue is where you get into the issues of some of the slipperiness of the Creed house and some of their dodgy claims and use of words. In particular is the use of the word, “Millésime” in the proper name of the fragrance.
The name is “Millésime Imperial” but, I wonder, does that mean the name of this fragrance is logically equivalent to “Imperial EdP”? It seems that everyone assumes that “Millésime” in the proper name means it is certainly an EdP. However, is that right? I can’t assume that so easily, for a few reasons: because I haven’t found it stated explicitly and separately as such by Creed, because the formulation does seem weaker than an EdP, and because of Creed’s own history of dabbling in questionable yet clever self-promoting hyperbole.
Reading their own marketing, I haven’t found where Creed specifically labels the product as EdP or “Millésime” in a way that stands apart from the proper name of the product itself. I just cannot help but wonder if Creed’s use of the word “Millésime” in the name of the scent is misleading. Why does this matter? Simply because this scent strikes me as an EdT at strongest. My hunch is that the name just translates to “Imperial Vintage,” but with the quite cleverly misleading gesture that this might be EdP when it isn’t.
I’ve looked at the official Creed packaging in its current sizings and see no separate “millésime” or “edp” designations. Were another member here to produce such an image to contradict this, it would settle the issue, provided the image were not from a fake. Fakes are legion with this product. Meanwhile a ton of fakes seem to have the word “Millésime” separate from the name, or “EdP” on the product barcode sticker. It’s as if the fakes overzealously wish to repair what they see as Creed’s oversight. Who knows. Were I able to view the back of an *authentic* MI flacon or its full packaging I’d be able to arrive at an opinion on this question. I’m not coughing up $1000 to do so and am nowhere near a Creed flagship or a Nordstrom with the 1L in stock.
Even if my suspicion is proven unwarranted, the substance of this claim remains: MI is weak for an EdP and perhaps even for an EdT, and I only wish it were stronger. Ultimately it makes me wish to make a homemade version with an oil base. I want to smell it all day. In the summer. Because the scent truly is amazing.

What a perfume!!!I truly fell in love with it from the 1st second.Expensive(like all of Creed’s) but the quality is unmatched.Very highly recommended.

Truly great, my favorite opening of all time. The dry down to me is pretty much the same with pre 2016 bottles(I have 11U01, 12J01, 14M01 and 15U01)… A musky salty ambergris. newer bottles does not have this heavy ambergris accord, and they unfortunately lack the longevity

  12. :

Salty melon with aquatic hints. Reminds me of bubblegum for some reason.
I can see this scent pleasing a lot of people.

  13. :

    5 out of 5

Very beautiful scent of salted watermelon with rum and aquatic nuances to my nose. Reminds me of a summer barbeque. Is maybe the quintessential summer scent. However, it smells like a slightly more refined version of Sean John Unforgivable so I don’t think this is full-bottle worthy at least for me. Projection is moderate while longevity is also moderate, with good projection for about 4 hours and as a skin scent afterwards. Performance is basically identical to Sean John Unforgivable. Due to this, I think it’s a nice fragrance but the Sean John provides the same experience for a far cheaper price.

Yep, it sure does. That’s pretty much it.

People hating on MI so much and I dont understand.
Is it my favorite from Creed??
    Nope, that would be Aventus…
But is it my least favorite?
Also no…. that would be Viking.
It’s a good scent but really only useful in the high heat of summer. Any other season, then you might not like it and you’ll swarm here to leave negative comments on it.
It’s not versatile, but for what it is, I definitely appreciate it and enjoy wearing it.
Sometimes, it smells like money ($$$)
    Other times it’s super fruity
And other times it’s that salty musky mix
I enjoy all 3 of these variations of MI.
I’d always keep at east 1oz of it laying around, just because.

Smells great! Perfect for weather here in Texas where it is 95 out lol it actually last very well on me but i do have to do at least 5 sprays depending if im indoors or out. Layered with molecule 1 when i go outside for a long day. Its a fruity musk , not to overpowering which is great for this heat . Good to wear for pool partys and Bbqs

  19. :

    4 out of 5

It is a typical 90’s scent with fruity notes and something else one can barely detect.
A watered down version of Escape for men by Calvin Klein combined with a poshy iris note in order to make it smell less cheap though it doesn’t work.
If you want nice salty notes you should try Oud Minerale by Tom Ford.
Spending money for a fragrance like millesime imperiale in 2018 is a crime.

The opening is combining sweet and salty accords; it is crisp, fruity (melon), salty, sweet and green. It smells of a sunny day at the ocean. The scent is interesting and quite nice for a couple of hours after which it just becomes a banal musky/synthetic scent that barely stays on the skin.

Elegant fruit cocktail with some salt and cucumber.
A fragrance that is unique, niche and yet mass appealing to boot.
I get 4 to 6 hours and moderate projection.
I find this unisex and it doesn’t speak to my personality, but I recommend a sniff.

    2nd Review:
I purchased from creed boutique 120 ml clear bottle with the new sprayer. It is now totally a different fragrance. Nothing like the old batches, the old golden bottle and the clear bottle with the thin sprayer.
This one has No saltyness, no ambergris, no fruits.. just citruses / alcohol blast with synthetic amber base with very poor longevity. It is no near what is used to be. I compared it side by side with my last bottle and it is Big disappointment.
As An old time Creed lover, What made me sad is that I tested another bottle from the recent batches (clear one with the big sprayer) in airport duty free and it was also very bad. Same alcohol citruses that is irrelevant to real Creed MI.
I hope that they corrected this in the new 100 ml golden bottles version.

This really is a nice fresh, citrus clean scent with some wonderful notes as listed above but my problem is, there’s hundreds of frags out there that smell EXACTLY like this one but are far less $$. There’s really nothing special nor unique going on here for the price of this juice. I really wanted to love this one but when I wear it, I feel like I’m watching paint dry… it’s boring with terrible longevity.

  25. :

Woaa what a smell . But after 2 hours very hard to detect unless someone very close . Smells very natural , but not good for a fragrance priced 250 USD to poof off your skin after just 2 hours of application . No, it smells nothing like caligna , as someone mentioned in ” this perfume reminds me of ” . Caligna is fruity fig.

This is the perfect summers fragrance. The salt is strong in this one (in a good way). The salt fruits amd iris musk work so well in this one. The aquatic note is not overpowering at all
like in most designer fragrances. This works well for all ages and genders. A must have summer scent.

  27. :

Millisime Imperial isn’t wonderful until you give it a full wear. Then the salty, citrusy goodness impresses. Clean, clear, sparkling, and salty.

Tried a sample, salty summer breeze with hint of melon. Really good. Lasted 8 hour on me when it’s really hot outside. Will be in my collection soon

As with pretty much all Creed fragrances you’ll experience some batch differences. I have a few samples from Creed that smell more or less fruity depending on which I use and also have a 2009 batch bottle. The older bottle does seem to last longer which is to say about a maximum of 5-6 hours or so. It’s salty, marine vibe up front and then some fruitiness kicks in about 20-30 minutes on and it stays fairly linear to those 3 accords for the life of it. I enjoy the scent but of course wish it lasted longer. I can’t imagine anyone paying ridiculous Creed retail prices for it as it’s, to me anyway, a nice fragrance but certainly not the be all end all of frags. If you can get a genuine bottle at a discount it’s worth it to have as it’s a nice but relatively short lived scent.

Smells fruity and fresh, but in a classy way. Opens up my nostrils. Smells like a bundle of money. Smells rich with a message “I’m better than you”. You need to dress classy for this. Love it so far.

Tested several times from a sample I ordered. Here in Australia we have a very poor range of places to go to try/sample Creed, it’s almost non-existence forces one to buy samples or decants online to try. The official Creed store here doesn’t answer emails and seems to have borrowed heavily on the French snobbery that is associated with high end perfumeries.
Aquatic, ozonic or marine type fragrances have never appealed to my nose, and it has been interesting to see/scent what Creed’s take on this genre is.
Big Floral opening is quickly cloaked by various synthetic feeling elements to meld into the ‘salty’ fresh vibe that is popular with many people, particularly in the summer/warmer climates. Here on a hot day, it’s gone in 60 seconds and leaves a high end chem-trail scent. If there’s wood in this, it’s in the table the bottle is resting on.
The natural freshness is short-lived and settles into an almost semi-sweet, metallic film that might be all too familiar with the younger set or those who regularly use generic/off the shelf fragrances, but it does seem to have a slightly higher pedigree of ingredients.
It’s not a bad perfume/scent, and it does have a lot of Creed cleverness inasmuch as (I think) they are using a lot of floral/fruit bases rather than entirely synthetic to capture the same vibe as many ‘Aqua’ type contemporaries have released, although most of this evaporates instantly. A very classy (and pricey) Aquatic/Ozonic fragrance. The younger set would probably have the hormones to aid it’s projection and appeal to carry it off.
Interesting to try out, and a must sample for those who crave all things Aquatic/Ozonic, but not a keeper for my snout (pron. “Shnout”) orgies.

This fragrance is just a waste of money.
The smell is somewhat generic, nothing people will turn heads after.
Salty Melon, Seabreeze and turns into sweet musk.
Dont get me wrong, its well done and smells good, but its nothing spectacular.
Performance is below average, atleast my batch.
I wish I could go back in time and test the original juice from 1994, but Im sure this has been reformulated someday.
Versatility is bad aswell. Cant wear this super-fresh scent in fall or winter. Maybe not even spring, summer only.
Im not a creed hater, I love GIT and Aventus and I think they are worth the price, but this one is 100% not worth the price. I wouldnt even buy it if it was 50$ for 100ml.
Its an average, generic scent with subpar performance. People go crazy because its Creed and it has a very luxurious looking bottle. But thats it.

Always buy a sampler before buying the bottle!
Imperial Millesime surprised me in how well balanced it is. There are no overpowering notes. Good sillage. It’s more of the kind of fragrance one would enjoy smelling on themselves rather than really captivating people around you unless it really compliments your skin and personality.
To me, this is well made aqua scent, but without any sourness. The citrus is sweet rather than zesty, which I’m not a huge fan of. Aqua scents are among the most popular in fragrances, and many smell quite similar. This to me is no exception. There’s nothing truly unique that makes is stand out above the rest, it’s a very “safe” fragrance. As much as it may contradict the name and the bottle, I don’t think this is much to write home about. Rather, it’s a very good quality scent that would work for many people as a good all-around fragrance.
For what it’s worth, I have a difficult time remembering what it smells like after applying another fragrance. I would have a difficult time identifying it on someone as it just isn’t unique to me.

    Longevity: 8/10

This one is pretty good! Opens up with a marine, bright medley of fruits (I get some bergamot and lemon along with other fruits, including a slight watermelon that many speak of). The citrus opening soon dies down and the mid is made up of some frutiness (very quickly fades after around 30 mins with my batch) quite a lot of ambergris giving it a slight seaweed vibe, and definitely a lot of that sweet and saltiness! The dry down is similar with no fruit and much more salty ambergris.. Longevity I get about 6-8 hours with soft projection, but not totally undetectable! I get the feeling this fragrance was meant to be subtle. Definitely a summer scent and maybe spring if it’s a particularly hot day but the heat really brings this one out!
    Versatility: 5/10
    Season: Mainly Summer

    Longevity: 4/10

This is a beautiful scent. Perfect for summer time.
However, the sillage and projection of this fragrance are a joke. It literally only projects for a few inches and remains a skin scent it’s entire longevity…
Smells absolutely amazing, but performance kills it unfortunately 🙁

  39. :

My wife thinks it smells like hairspray. It has natural amber (Sperm whale fecal matter) at its base, that is generally used in all Creed fragrances and has very natural notes to it. It’s something that you’d expect to smell on an older gentleman in an old folks home. Overpriced and overrated in my opinion.
    5/10.

Have had a bottle of this for nearly 15 years and I have never reviewed this, go figure! LOL…………
Amazing fragrance, just amazing! A fruity, summer, bright, slightly musky, with some woodiness kind of fragrance; this fragrance has a beachy, marine type vibe that’s unequivocally unisex!
I have a 4oz. gold bottle (which, by the way is the VERY 1st Creed fragrance I purchased that started this expensive addiction, I mean journey); the projection, silage, performance, and longevity are all high level from that bottle. I also have 2 1.0oz bottles and the projection, silage, performance, and longevity on those are just as high.
(Two fragrances come to mind when wearing MI; Kumkat Wood by Mancera and Sean John’s Unforgivable).
[Just sprayed MI on my right hand and Unforgivable on my left and they are very similar; MI is much sweeter, fruitier and more aquatic; Unforgivable, less sweet, yet with a more citrusy/fruity musk vibe with some aquatics.]
    5 stars!!

Amazing smell and I love the salty-fruity vibe, but performance is shocking. It’s $369 here in Australia and expensive everywhere- not worth it given the performance. Very disappointing! I hope companies will revisit the olden days when you could spray a cologne and not worry about it lasting all day and projecting decently.

I received a sample of Millesime and didn’t like it. It had a very powdery scent to it which I didn’t like and it gave me a headache, but to each his own. It also smells very floral and feminine. Maybe I got a sample of a bad batch. It definitely projects and lasts all day, but if you’re of my opinion that’s not a good thing with this one.

How do guys wear this FRAGRANCE? it’s so feminine. I blind bought a bottle for myself only to realize how fem it is. Now with that being said it’s an amazing smell. Gotta be creed marketing to say it’s unisex. Lol how they say “MADE FOR KING. perplexed how so many guys wear this.

This scent definitely screams summer. I have a sample on my wrist as I write this, and it is very nice. I get an initial blast of a salty watermelon mixed in with some fruity notes (as listed) annnnnnnnnnnnnd that’s it. Quite linear in terms of a scent. May have to order the DUA clone of this if I want better longevity (your not going to get it with MI)
A classy, summer scent, that has hopes to last, but falls short. May have to opt for the newly reformulated Virgin Island Water!

  48. :

Oldscent: the newer MI is extremely weak. 2011 batch smelled heavenly but the performance was spotty. I got another bottle in 2016 and I can barely smell it.

This is some of liquid heaven on earth. This is master perfumery at its best. Only to be worn in warm to hot weather. It only lasts 4 hours on my skin, but that 4 hours is like being shrouded with an angel. Some perfume houses have tried to copy this, but have failed. Don’t even attempt to waste good money on cheap copies or clones as they won’t get any where near this masterpiece.
    Nuff said.

Outstanding is how i describe it. Longevity is not the greatest. I spray on my clothes to get me through the day. Complements…YES! I was told at work by two different ladies of different ages i shouldn’t wear this to work, i asked was it too loud or offensive and they both said no that’s not it. With a big smile i was told they can’t say because it would be inappropriate for the office and they are married.
I had another lady walk by me in the hall at work, stop, turn around and say whoa what is that you are wearing it smells incredible! I layered it with Molecule 01 on that day. It projected further and lasted longer.
A warm weather scent to me. Gets a lot of complements and turns heads. Can dress up or down, jeans or suit. Can’t go wrong with this one IMO. Performs better when layered on top of molecule 01 if you have performance challenges with MI. I will always have this in the collection.

This fragrance demonsrates the brilliance and sophistication of Creed Perfumes
Nothing smells or will smell or can smell like it from top notes till final drydown.
Fruity, Marine, Salty with Creeds Unique and luxurious Musky/Ambergris finish.
Altough it used to smell more deep and woody in the 90’s (newer versions seems to be a bit fresher/lighter and aquatic), It is still a class by its own.
I dont mind the average longevity as it lingers on clothes for decent duration and I enjoy re-applying.

if its 100 ml gold bottle, then thats just the new bottle they came out with this year. its not a fake, fresh batches of creed fragrances need a good 6 months to macerate and develop. this happens with all my new creed purchases. it will smell a lot better and stronger the more you use it.

Smells of money….. literally. I am sure I read a review of this that said as much and I agree. Not in the ‘abstract’ sense, but literally. This smells like rolled up old bank notes in the best possible way.
Now getting abstract, it smells of ‘gold’ ‘sunshine’ ‘salt’ and ‘wealth’.
I love this so much, that after getting it, I have been searching for a cheap alternative for regular use (Creed is an occasional use luxury for me). I tried A&F First Instinct for the melon note. Quite nice in its own right, but nothing like MI. I also blind bought Love & Luck which has more of a resemblance, but has none of the ‘abstract’ qualities described above.
This and Royal Oud are the only Creeds I own and can justify the price for. I have many clones of other Creeds that do a good enough job imho, but nothing comes close to this.
Longevity and projection are far from beast mode, but far better for me than others have suggested and in line with most other freshies I own.
    11/10!

A fruity, salty aquatic that’s been masterfully blended. So fresh, so invigorating on warmer days. I’m not the biggest fan of acquatics, have a few in my collection, but this would have to be right up there as one of the best.
My only issue with acquatics is that I don’t get good longevity out of them. I got a good 5 hours before it disappeared to nothingness. A bit disappointing for its price point.
Other than that, I love it and still a want for my collection.

I wore this tonight whilst dining out in the Costa Brava in Spain, and my God it’s amazing.. Although I’ve always found it pleasant in the past.. there was something tonight about the warm sea air.. and the different foods being cooked.. the scent just took on a whole new life. The fruit notes (has to be melon) just smell so elegant. Performance of course sucked, so no one else was enjoying it, just me.. but when it comes to that you know what you’re letting yourself in for when you buy a Creed. I recommend it for all.. but I won’t be wasting it back in England, I’ll be saving it for hot trips abroad.

Salty aquatic with fruity nuances. Masterfully blended as with most Creed fragrances. Performance is average at best, but I love the fragrance. Perfect summer casual scent.

Fresh and fruity. Scent-wise, this is one of my favourite Creeds. This simply lifts your spirit on a bad day and evokes a feeling of optimism and positivity.
Having said that, I cannot justify its price tag considering the performance. For me, it falls in the same category as D&G’s The One. Great quality and small, but gone before you know it..

First off, I am a big fan of the House of Creed. I am also a newcomer to the hobby of building a fragrance collection and the whole art of the fragrance world. Basically, I probably don’t know my ass from a hole in the ground.
That being said, I really love Milliseme Imperial, it is a truly well refined, fresh scent. My nose can’t pick out all the intricacies of the fragrance, but I can definitely tell it is blended very well. I can easily smell the melon and sea salt and can tell that it has the Creed ambergris DNA on the dry down. The problem here is that I get terrible longevity and the scent stays really close to my skin. I have a newer batch so some vintage may be totally different.
In summary, I love the smell, but it’s performance issues make it a dud especially for the price.

The beautiful melon/fruity opening lasts for about 10 minutes, the mid phase smells like highly saturated salt water with hints of melon or like the watermelon is completely covered with salt.
The dry down after 2-3 hours which is a combination of mild cream/salt/musk/fruit is to die for.
    Projection: 8/10
Longevity: 8+ hours on my skin
    9/10

I am getting a lovely, citrusy/fruity, flowery and mineral (salty) scent from this in the first 20 minutes. There is something like melon, but surely this isn’t the melon we know. Perhaps it’s the blend with the salty notes and the flowery/iris and citrus that throws it off and gives it a unique fragrance. When it settles, it just gives me this clean feeling, like fresh out of the shower and this lingers for the remaining time. Classy, modest, clean and conservative is how I would describe it. A scent you can wear every day, safe blind buy, totally safe for work on those normal/quite days where nothing special is going on. It’s a daytime fragrance exclusively for me, I feel it would not perform very well in a crowded bar/club, but maybe would work well in a quite dinner setting.
Performance is very subtle, some call it weak. You will be appreciated by the people who don’t like strong projecting perfumes on other people (and apparently they are in majority!)
Definitely my thing, but for the price, I would consider something else. My question is: What else? I feel the concept here is similar to Juliette Has A Gun “Not a Perfume”, but this is different and I prefer it over that one (aside the fact that NAP is a female fragrance LOL).
    Scent 10/10 – Killer composition
Versatility 8/10 – Wear almost anywhere
Performance overall 8/10 – Weak and modest
NOTE: I deducted 4 points on performance because of the very modest projection and the fact it fades so quickly, but add 2 points back for it’s subtlety and inoffensiveness.
