    ‌‌ AMOUAGE MEMOIR
I remember the first time i smelled this i closed my eyes and fell into my memories well. But memories! Wich memories? What am I thinking to?
I found myself walked about 40 minutes without dropping my wrist of my nose and even thinking to anything special. This is the magic of memoir.
Something almost same happened when i told my friend to smell it. She also closed her eyes without knowing why.
Memoir can be considered as a fougere but on the dark side… Just like young skywalker, so meaningful , so powerful, so restless and in the meantime, Purley touching.
    Oh memoir…
I can tell that memoir was made for almost cold nights only ,as You all know, but i wanna say that memoir shows its best in rainy weather; you have to try it at a cold Rainy evening to find out what im saying.
The color of the prfume: imagine an agitated dark green core with tiny thin black veins, covered in a heavy smoky dark brown cloud. This is what memoir would be like.
Some call memoir (mona Lisa) among all the perfumes and its totally true. This little creature deserves to be considered as mona Liss (or maybe mona Lisa is lucky!). It has a specific face for every single situation. Uncountable means lies inside the bottle. Needs a lot of time and emotion and love to be discovered.
This is not only a perfume

After a lot of search & reading forums i have placed my order for non magnet tester bottle made in OMAN ..will update the projection & longevity once its in my hands..
The made in UK one smelled very nice but lasted poorly even on a cool day, so am just hoping the Oman one should last & smell good as others mentioned.
The only thing i will miss is the “magnet cap” which looks and feels very nice.
Guys..My bottle is here .. luckily it is made in OMAN & it has magnetic cap .. AM SUPERRRRR happy !
You really have to understand this perfume otherwise you will never like it & mix up all the notes ..
9/10 FOR ME ( Strictly for AC environments or WINTERS)

Only sprayed this a couple times on my arm so far. The opening is nice, not great. I get the green that everyone mentions, but it doesn’t stick around long, maybe 15 min. After that you’re left with a smokey sandalwood vibe. Honestly, after the green is gone it smells very similar to Autoportrait by Olfactive studios. I wish the green notes stuck around a little longer.

One of the most complicated pleasant scents I’ve ever smelled , this is a distinctive fragrance , but don’t buy it before testing it , it’s not for everyone.

I recently noticed that my decant of Memoir was starting to emulsify so I started working on it. Two sprays, too much. One spray, just right. I must admit although I wasn’t a fan of it at first, after forcing myself to wear it for 3 consecutive days I am starting to get the hang of it.

I love this scent, not just because it is wonderful in its own right, but also because it reminds me of some of the great pre-IFRA regulation fragrances. Memoir doesn’t smell like the masculine fougeres I wore in years gone by, but it has that same type of power, depth and quality associated with the oakmoss and coumarin rich fragrances from decades ago. Nothing about Memoir seems wispy, artificial, chemical-set cheap, like so many offerings at perfume counters today. With Memoir, Amouage has shown that great perfumes can still be made, despite the IFRA restrictions.

There’s a dry, herbal, green aspect to Memoir Man that smells like wormwood. This greenness fades after the opening. I get wood smoke and tobacco on the Amouage leathery amber base. Guaiac and sandal wood are there as well. Late late drydown has a hint of sweetness. MM evolves quite a bit on my skin. To my nose this is a herbal, woody scent rather than anything with a very middle eastern vibe. I think it reminds me of Le Labo’s Patchouli 24 with it’s medicinal, smoky almost tarry feel.
Mature, masculine and for cooler weather. Would probably be okay for work as it’s not really sexy. It’s a bit stuffy and formal; I can see some people wrinkling their noses at it. Sillage and projection seem average. Lasts about six hours on me before becoming soft. The ingredients in Amouage scents all smell high quality. Memoir Man is no exception. I like this but it doesn’t excite me too much. I want my perfumes from Oman to smell like resins, oud, incense, florals and spices not just bitter herbs and dry wood. My Omani dad would wear this.

I picture it being a drab day; gloomy, cool, sort of clammy outside.
A literary mad man…let’s say Poe or Wilde…
That sort of musty aroma that you’ll find, from a loosely bound book that has been trapped in a room, full of incense candles/oils burning, for quite some time.
Add in a tinge of mint and overall greenness to it…
It’s got some sort of mysticism; leaving you curious to see what happens next.
Its probably the most linear of all of the Amouage line, but it’s also the most versatile.
    9.5 overall scent
    10 longevity
    9 versitality

If you have had experiences by other Amouage fragrances, after spraying immediately you will smell same basenotes and DNA … resiny, balsamic, incensey and herbal! But it projects less than the other members of Amouage family. Dry down is 50% different than opening and dry down is my favorite! I can say in dry down so so tinned situation of interlude… when I sniff newly sprayed Creed Green Irish Tweed I get some vibes mutual also Givenchy gentlemen only intense is near to this . Peace ✌️

I finally was able to get a good sized sample to spend some time with. Memoir is excellent!
I didn’t like this at first as out of the bottle is a sharp green, fresh cut grass and absinthe smell. Quite astringent and definatley not for everyone. So i decided to rest it and test out over night after i showered.
On skin this is much better, the green notes really only last for about an hour and plays really well as the mint rounds out the harsh absinthe scent. Thereafter, this becomes an amazing soft sandalwood with a touch of mint in the background. Slightly sweetened in the drydown and highly addictive.
My updated Amouage ranking: Epic, Lyric, Interlude, Memoir and Jubilation.
I would like to add that i only place interlude in front of Memoir as i prefer the complexity of Interlude. However, to be clear, Memoir is far more versatile and i would wear Memoir over Interlude 9/10 times. I still struggle to find a place for Interlude…
I am wearing this casually most times and as this isnt a screamer, i would also try it at the office (although i haven’t tested in office as yet)
All said, another great Amouage 8/10!
Please try once you can tolerate green scents. This is not one of those scents which the color and design is indicative of the scent. Be warned…

    @Dorjee
I bought both Memoir and Epic from the same website and I did not feel they were watered down. They are pretty strong. I never wore or had any of them with non-magnetic cap before but I had tested them at amouage stores before. Comparing what I bought to what I recall from Amouage stores, I honestly don’t think they are watered down.
By the way , I had a magnetic-cap Memoir which I left where I lived previously. The new “tester” nong-magnetic cap seems to be longer lasting but it may be due to the weather I live in currently. Therefore, I am totally happy about my recent purchase and also about my old magnetic-cap purchase I made a couple of years ago. Both are good enough and they give me the same vibe as my experience with Amouage samples at Amouage stores.

Be aware people, reformulated testers CAN have non-magnetic, friction, snap cap, and in fact, MOST testers are non-magnetic caps no matter they’re pre or post reformulation! I can’t believe I didn’t do enough research and got easily influenced by people here, ended buying a so called ‘non-magnetic’ tester from Maxaroma, which crying-out-loudly turns out to be a UK made, ghost shadow watered-down post-reformulation version!!!
Let alone the snap cap version, how could an Amouage men’s scent as classic as Memoir, downhills like this poor watery non-existing weak nonsense?!
It’s mainly 1/3 of the original in terms of strength, projection and saddest, complexity! I almost told myself this tester from Maxaroma is FAKE! But it’s indeed just a poor gutted cheap copy of it’s own! Mesh of greenness and creamy woody blob, is what it is now, at least the BS tester sold from MAXaroma!
    Pathetic! Shame!
    What we’ve got after all?!

Where to begin… this is a very elegant, green forresty type fragrance. It’s excellent on projection and longevity on me, its mildly sweet. I agree with Jer on the Fragrance Bros, it should be called Enchanted Forrest, because, when i wear this, i feel deep in the heart of some kind of Mythical Enchanted Forrest, and I LOVE IT!

    Brilliant fragrance.
I just purchased a vintage tester bottle for $100 on maxaroma(dot)com
You must opt to buy the tester bottle with none magnetic cap.
EDIT: They had 24 bottles when I wrote this review, just checked now (4 weeks later) & all have been sold, to the lucky buyers.

if you want to smell luxury and mystery with seductive smell. this is the right perfume for you.
i can smell sweet tobacco at the opening of the smell, dry down of it quite interesting with mysterious woody smell. something about this smell on the dry tobacco make this perfume very interesting.

It is a good smelling fragrance. Plenty of tobacco and plenty of mint as well, in it. Longevity is long lasting but the sillage is only moderate. I will mix it up with Creed Royal Oud, in order to improve the sillage. It can be mix up with Amouage Lyric Man, as well. I did it, and I love it.

Amouage have been on my radar for a while, and I knew that they are talked about enough, have vareity enough and have releases interesting enough to one day give them attention (then again, there just so many houses and so many releases, you gotta be smart with your time and money in this game)
Anyway, after a holiday last November in Oman, which turned out to be BY FAR the most intersting, fascinating and gorgeous country to me on the whole peninsula (having visited dubai, abu dhabi, bahrain, qatar, kuwait and even saud arabia before), I knew I had to try it. The smells, the tastes, the colors, the feeling that this land had to offer was so largely captivating and inspiring (even for a person well traveled in the arabic world) that not giving the coutnry’s most famous and most innovative parfume house a fair shake did seem like a crime from then on.
Based on reviews, notes and all things one can consider without smelling the actual juice, I decided that the safest way to go will be “MEMOIR” for me. I must say a big thanks to all of you guys, contributing to this website, you nailed it this time, MEMOIR is deservedly one of the most popular and praised offerings of this house, and a perfect gateway drug to Amouage:)
Wearing MEMOIR one feels both, the 1000 years old tradition and the call of a new era in perfect harmony. It is of course, still on the traditional side of the scale, but it is not old fashioned. It is a perfume that can follow you through a modern day life without any glitches. The smell offers the best , creamiest smokeyness I have experienced with a man frag yet. Imagine that after a sauna session you go to the woods naked (ok, with a towel around you), where some of the most exclusive, luxourious woods of the world are being burnt in a campfire, and your freshly saunaed and cold showered skin soaks all this georgeous smoke in and vaporates it in a very classy, clean and high class fashion throught the day. Thats how wearing this frag feels.
I am completely impressed with the quality of the ingridients and the concept behind them, so onto the next one, Amouage Lyric Man, in the shopping cart and check-out:) See you soon

This perfume is simply, too much! Alcoholic, balsamic, green incense … passes a meditative sensation with the set of his notes. Great fixing and projection! 10/10

I really liked this one for the first few months but after many more wearings i decided that ultimately, it wasn’t for me. It is a quality composition but it appears i just don’t get on well with a mint note and i also found it very dry. It still does remind me of a burning green mythical forest but it doesn’t fit my style and was just too dark for me in the end so ended up selling it on. Still a great fragrance though and my 2nd fave Amouage after Reflection.

    This is Handsome
Amouage is an amazing house and this scent makes you appreciate the depth and variety the house has.
    Very unique
Opens with this green herbal scent with some darkness.
Hard to explain but I will try
Imagine green mint oil without the menthol aspect.
Bit bitter, kind of rounded and sharpness taken out.
Basil And wormwood are equally impressive.
    This is very versatile
Very subjective and is perceived by everyone differently.
    Very classy and understated frag.
Performance is average which is a bit of a bummer but smells amazing
    8/10
Green oily insence with hints of leather
    Class!
Did I mention, that’s it is green ? Lol

Amouage does a noirish fougere in a way only they can and the results are beautiful. The notes are a beautiful juxtaposition of the light and dark such as the darkish wormwood, oak moss, tobacco and leather and brighter basil, mint, rose, sandalwood, guaiac, amber, and vanilla. Beautifully blended, this is a memorable and unusual Oriental beauty with moderate sillage and projection and long lasting effect. Perfect for wintry days and when you are feeling a bit darkish, this is very elegant and luxurious modern Oriental perfumery at its best. Bravo!

I’m really baffled by Amouage’s Memoir Man! I have five other parfums by Amouage, Interlude, Epic, Fate, Gold and Reflection. They are all amazing, complex parfums and the longevity and sillage are off the charts. Then a few days ago I received a bottle of Memoir. I have read the reviews and thought it would be great! I’m disappointed to say the least. What I get at the opening is Wrigley’s spearmint gum, up front, then some Wormwood, then all that peters out and I get a little incense, and maybe a tiny hint of the basil. I get NO tobacco, rose, amber, musk, oakmoss or leather. This is supposed to be a very leathery scent, but I get nothing. Also after an hour this is a “Press your nose on your skin” scent. Nothing, it’s just gone and there is an extremely faint scent. The complete opposite of my other Amouages. I can still smell Interlude and Fate on my shirts after going through the washer and dryer. I really wanted to love this, as I do the other Amouage scents I own. But Memoir Man was a big disappointment.
    October 23, 2017 Update:
I was wrong. I must have been having a bad allergy day or something… I gave Memoir Man another try yesterday. I bought a full 3.4 oz bottle and was not ready to give up on this scent. This time I gave my chest / neck about five blasts of Memoir Man and then put my shirt on right away. For about the next six hours I finally got all the stuff that I was told about in Memoir man. The mint, tobacco, leather, and wormwood and vanilla rounding it off. All of it was there. It’s a beautiful and subtle parfum that definitely has staying power. It is not a beast like Fate, Journey or Interlude. But, Memoir Man is just gorgeous. Interlude was my first Amouage purchase, then I bought Fate and Epic. I didn’t know that there were other Amouage “Man” parfums that were quieter. I thought they were all loud and strong. I prefer a big loud fragrance. Memoir and Jubilation XXV are both incredible scents, they are just not as loud as the others.

Pardon me for being the odd ball here, but I don’t know if it is me or the fact that Memoir Man smells like a pack of cigarettes? I don’t get mint, fruit, flowers…just straight up, in your face, unapologetic spicy nicotine tobacco.
Memoir Man sits right between the sweet smokiness of Interlude and the amazing Sandalwood of Epic Man. A dry woodsy, dry tobacco-y, dry spicy fragrance. Not sure if this is the right smell for me…be sure not to make the mistake of blind buying like me; This deserves a test before purchase! I repeat, test before purchase!
…so after giving this another wear, Memoir Man slightly warmed up to me; my wife even liked it. A little nicer than expected the second go round; I don’t feel that initial dislike, however this might be a great fragrance for someone other than myself…it would take the right person to pull this off.
    Projection: 9/10

Amidst the beauty of jubilation XXV, I found myself devoted and intoxicated by the glory of berries and incense.
Then I tried this again. I will explain via a short but funny little story what memoir man is to me and how it came to be my favorite of the house and my top two fragrances of all time.
Two years ago on April Fools’ Day I got a text from a woman that I was seeing stating that she was pregnant. Initially I was befuddled. I was scared, I was angry, I did not know what to think. After I calmed down and gave it some thought I realize maybe this is a beautiful thing. Then I thought about it some more and realized what a sensational experience having a child would be.
Then i she said “April fools” and I cannot put into words the joy and overwhelming exuberance and happiness I felt.
That’s my experience with memoir man.
At first blast I didn’t know what to think. I was confused, I was kind of put off, and did not enjoy the experience. Then I gave it some more thought, and more wearings.
I sprayed it on some clothes hanging in my wardrobe to let it marinate for a bit similar to a woman carrying around a whole wheat flour package dressed as a baby to prove to herself that she can do it.
Over time these individual notes and accords that by themselves provided nothing but a hindrance to my olfactory passages came together and created harmony.
Memoir has one of the most beautiful sillages ever and I was sold. I press my nose against the scent and evaluated it even more and realized what a non brooding dark, mysterious , romantic , and uplifting scent this is.
Only Amouage could create a scent that simultaneously provokes a myriad of emotions at once.
A dark green fougere made up of a grassy mossy character that is initially medicinal but look closer and you see what tobacco leaves, mint and basil can do to musk and incrnse.
If Aladdin wears jubilation as prince Ali then Memoir is what the lamp and the genie smell like. A gorgeous yet subdued middle eastern vibe (by trust me it’s there ) lingering in a freshly cut park surrounded by mint hookah, tobacco, and sweet incense.
    Mesmerizing.
Memoir is what a magic carpet ride feels like. Memoir is the fresh air you inhale as you fly over Baghdad straight into a lamp conjuring up all your wishes.
This is a mysterious fairy tale.
This is also my most complimented scent after Aventus.
Do not blind buy. Not for everyone but everyone should give it a chance.
This isn’t just a beautiful scent. The is timeless art
Must try . For fragrance connoisseurs, a must have!

It smelled disgusting the first 5 minutes after application on my skin but then the harsh medicinal smell disappeard and it started smelling burnt wood. The drydown is very cozy and enjoyable. This is not your regular scent and i must say do not blind buy!!

I like or love many of Amouages’s product, but this one smelled like a sausage wrapped in a band-aid left in the sun way too long for me. I could smell some mint, but nothing else good.

  41. :

Refreshing, soapy, and green on opening. Very interesting use of mint! The absinth and wormwood keeps it grounded though. This eventually fades to dewy grass and soft leather with just a hint of the lavender soapiness. Despite the bohemian weirdness, Memoir Man is a poised, even stately, fragrance (typical for an Amouage). Unusual and fascinating; even though it’s firmly masculine on opening (that aromatic soapiness) it’s still so much fun that I definitely want to keep it in regular rotation!

Memoir is gentlemanly, but it’s not classic or barbershop. It is in a class by itself and difficult to describe.

Memoir Man it’s lesser ”Amouagey” that others. Basically, it’s a green woody. No oud, no heavy spices… Oh! yes there are incense but it’s not so remarkable like on other Amouage’s fragrances. In spite of this it’s an interesting fragrance, enough masculine and with a ”moosy” quality that it remind me to a chypre.
On summary, a great creation of this house but without an arabic vibe. Very suitable for cold weather. IMO it’s versatile.

Memoir Man is not a potent or heavy scent. Actually, it’s more of a feeble powdery fragrance lasting no more than 2 hours on my skin. Memoir Man remains very close to the skin, and while I wouldn’t call it weak, I’d have a difficult time having to heavily apply it. Because of the frankincense, it is one of the nicer incense fragrances out there, but when the frankincense decides to leave the party, the interest in this fragrance takes a nose-dive…. I missed the tobacco note in this product and the little bit that existed (a stretch, to say the least…) was harsh and with hard edges, somewhat like an ashtray rather than honest tobacco. What little musk there was to be had, was nothing short of chemical and artificial leaving the frankincense the true legitimate note…. Overall, I’ll pass, especially at the steep price.

Wore this at the pub last night and got some great feedback on it. My mate said it was very unique and smelt amazing, one lady said it was really nice and gave it a 10 out of 10. A couple smelt it and the woman said she would get it for her other half and he liked it too. The woman behind the bar only gave it a 6 out of 10 but said it was ok but my other mate also said it was really nice. I do think this one is pretty amazing myself and incredibly unique so all in all i am happy with my purchase!

I recently got most of the Amouage line samples to give them a try for the first time. I was stunned by the strength and quality of their juices, you feel that they really are worth the money paid for. Anyway, after sampling the scents for couple days, I found myself always reaching for Memoir and Dia the most.
They both are really calming scents and I somehow got addicted to Memoir a little more. This is a very green scent in the beginning but then it dries down to a very deep, dark and mysterious smell. It’s not offensive by any means and you can’t stop sniffng yourself. You keep graving for the smell all the time. I even sprayed it on myself yesterday before I go to bed because it makes me feel so calm.
Overall, it’s a unique masculine perfume. Perfect for a signature scent and everyone will notice this smell the moment you come close to them.
I own more than 20 scents at the moment and I can say that Memoir will easily be my top choice when I buy a full bottle. Dia is also another great Amouage but it lacks the performance and darkness of Memoir. Dia is soft, woody, rosy, and a sexy unisex scent. If I buy both, I will be using Dia at day time and Memoir at night.
I was impressed with Amouage fragrances to be honest. Memoir and Dia are my favorites, next come Reflection and Jubilation XXV, then Epic, Journey and Beloved. Interlude is the one I disliked the most.

This smells green, like fresh cut grass for 24hr; and that’s about it. Nothing ‘mysterious’ or ‘jungle scent’ or ‘tobacco’ i.m.o.
Because of the wormwood the longevity is great. In the same league of Absinth by Nasomotto and Killian’s Taste of heaven.

    First Impressions-
[1st niche fragrance i have ever owned] First thing i notice in the half hour i have had this on, is that the projection is an absolute beast. I haven’t got my arm anywhere near my face and from 1 spray, i am getting wofts of it every few seconds. The smell is very unique, that’s for sure and i agree that this could easily be unisex. Normally i can describe what the smell reminds me of but i can’t seem to pinpoint anything at the moment, that’s how different it is. Will post an update sometime soon.
    Quick Update-
Longevity is phenomenal, still getting a slight hint of it on my arm 24 hours later. it also seems to develop from a more unisex fragrance into a deep and fiery version of the initial spray making it smell even better. Good stuff here.

Just the most mysterious , interesting and oddest perfume I’ve ever smelled! It smells addictive and also unisex to my nose . Whenever I smell it I feel and imagine to be in a dark and surreal jungle with unique plants!

    “Green, Dark, & Mysterious”
Memoir is a quintessential in its category. A quintessential fragrance that has masterfully blended dark and fresh scents to make it one of the most unique, luxurious, and intriguing fragrances under the sun.
Memoir is elusive and mysterious. I can smell green, wood, smoke, and tobacco, but is hard to describe the different phases of evolution as it is difficult to pinpoint which notes are dancing.
Memoir sits between Journey and Interlude. Journey is the most European offering from Amouage while Interlude is the most Arabian. Memoir is darker and more complex than Journey, but not as beast mode and spicy as Interlude.
It is best suited best for spring and autumn. The longevity and projection are like any other Amouage offering. You will get noticed, but I can guarantee that you haven’t smelled something like Memoir before.
Memoir demands utmost respect for what it represents, and it will be appreciated by true fragrance enthusiasts. It is a fragrance for mentally grown up people who truly understand the meaning of art.

    Amouage Memoir.
How I wish I was a poet for this one.
How I wish I had the talent to quote in writing this bold fictional journey through the uncharted wild forests of fairytales that encompass an abundance of rare herbs, exotic flowers & aromatic plants, mossy tree trunks & humid earth, enchanted smoky woods & age-long druids meditating with incense while elves master the tanning of animal hides.
Memoir is, by far, my favorite masculine by Amouage. An ingenious composition of stimulating contradictions that excite my senses. It starts austere & dry, enriched with bitter herbs freshened by mint, soon to become extremely thick & opulent with the inception of smoky frankincense and aromatic woods.
I must admit that Memoir’s breathtaking opening phase does not last for more than 30-40 minutes before it will gradually start to fade, becoming a quiet yet beautiful and long lasting, lightly smoky, dry woody leathery skin scent. But then again, what good in life lasts for ever.
Dark, refined, deeply aromatic, elegant, dramatic, blissful . . .
    The one & only.

Very unique and dark but can be really versatile. The mint gives it some versatility, in my opinion one can pull this off all-year round.
This black gem is very aromatic and spicy, a bitter-sweet symphony, a decadent and metaphysical scent with a sexy postmodern character.
For me Memoir is a very special scent, it matches my personality greatly. This is a fragrance that takes time to understand, it’s not your everyday trendy, clubbing, popular and chatty scent, Memoir is something different, it’s dark, refined, artistic, mysterious and sensual.
This is something for true fragrance-connaisseurs.

This is the most complex frag of 250 reviews. Every time I revisit this one, I get something new. I am getting the softness today of the rose and vanilla. Beautiful woody incense, bitter herbs, smoky and fresh…
When I first tried this in the very cold winter, it seemed flat, I thought, I dont get this.
Interlude and Jubilation are great fragrances, but Memoir Man has now become my top 5 and favorite Amouage.
It is so refined, a beautiful masterpiece by Karin Vinchon, a great perfumer.
