The nose is Coty.

this was a blind buy. nothing great.i cant complain since i got it at marshalls for 20bucks. at best i would say it is an average cologne that lasts for an hour. pretty much the previous reviews have accurately described the scent. This would be suitable for 30+. would give this one 6/10

Tim McGraw by Tim McGraw (his first and now discontinued fragrance) smells like a “caramel” version of Candie’s for Men by Liz Claiborne. Interesting enough, the notes and the celebrity name attached to this fragrance would make one assume it’s a deep, spicy, woody fragrance that takes no prisoners. Instead, it’s fresh, likable, and totally casual.
Someone reviewed it as “Milk Duds and Cucumbers” and that’s actually spot on. While I feel the reviewer was being reductive, I think Tim McGraw is a good scent and the closest thing to resemble Candie’s for Men that I’ve found in the 6 years I’ve been collecting fragrances.
The scent itself opens with a non-sweet caramel accord and a “fresh” accord that truly calls to mind fresh vegetation. Then it quickly transforms into a smooth woody while maintaining its freshness and just the smallest (and I do mean SMALLEST) hint of sweetness.
Too bad this is discontinued. I would love to have a huge bottle to keep in my gym bag.

This one would be a winner if the performance didn’t absolutely suck. One of the best celebrity scents I’ve tried. Just needs better performance and I wouldn’t mind dropping $60 on a bottle.

Wow, this was a scent that I was wrong on. Back in 2011, I tested this in a Wal-Mart near my college. I tried it and thought that it was merely the wet dog old man scent. This was back in my Axe/Old Spice body spray days when I was young and dumb and never even tried Bath & Body Works Ocean.
Fast forward five years to 2016, I got older, wiser and more open to scents. I tested it in a Sears and liked it but not enough to plunk down $22 for a 1oz/30ml bottle. Then on Halloween night, I take a faithful trip to a Big Lots and in the mess of clones I found McGraw. I picked it up and purchased along with some clones. I actually bought it for $3.00USD for a 0.5oz/15ml bottle in the holiday packaging, marked down from $10.00USD from wherever it was before Big Lots. I ended up buying two…
Immediately, I opened one and sprayed it on the back of my hand and I LOVED it. This fragrance is a typical Coty drug store scent like the Stetson colognes and Preferred Stock. I do like even love these but this is different. There is something special in these scents that isn’t in most of the drug store branded Coty brands.
A number of the notes are fairly similar to most Coty scents like the Stetsons and Preferred Stocks. Most Coty scents have a mix of a citrus note, nutmeg, some type of wood, lavender and amber. What sets this fragrance apart from the pack is the boozy quality. The whiskey note is a beast. It smells so clean yet dirty at the same time. This is a good bar scent. This is not a club banger like 212 VIP Men or its flankers, but rather a relaxing night out at the bar after a long day at work scent.
To me, this is a better and more modern Stetson, even more so that Stetson Caliber which is a scent I love. McGraw hits upon the classic Stetson scent that even Preferred Stock has, even if I call it the city slicker cousin to Stetson. This is like Stetson’s nephew and cousin to Stetson Caliber. Not that they smell a like but rather that they have similar DNA within the same level for price range and maker.
The main note I smell is the whisky. Perhaps this is why I didn’t like it at first when I tried it some five years ago but now I am kicking my own ass for passing on it. It projects at least three hours on me. It lasts somewhere around 6/7 hours. It is a night scent prefect for the fall and winter or the bar scene, especially cowboy bars.
I think that McGraw is a really good cheapie, my specialty. However it smells not too unique but yet unique enough. I rate McGraw an 8.0 but I still mark it as a love.

this is a very nice scent IF YOU LIKE STRONG, BOOZY NOTES!! i personally love it. It starts off right off the bat with a very strong whiskey note along with nutmeg, some tonka bean, and amber as well. VERY strong when you first apply it. It can be too strong for you to get close to people for the first hour and a half of the fragrance but its tolerable after that. This is DEFINITELY not made for summer. this should only be used as a “night out with the boys” fragrance in fall, spring, and winter. Also, since its a deep scent, it’s not suited for wear to parties, its meant for casual, laid back occasions. While its very strong on opening, it lasts about 5-6 hours on my skin with nice projection for about 3 hours. Despite the fact that the longevity and projection are OK to good, the sillage is great. this thing will linger around for a while. This can me found at Walmart for $20 for an ounce, so there is no need to try to get it online and risk getting a fake or spoiled batch.
    Scent 7/10
    longevity 6/10
    Projection 7/10
    sillage 8/10

    Occasions Casual

I LOVE THiS!! This is my favorite to smell on my man!! It’s so alluring and gets my attention. I bury my face in his chest when he has this on

This is an awesome, awesome scent that just doesn’t last long. Unfortunately that seems to be the same old story. If you’re looking for an all day manly monster look elsewhere. If you’re one of those people who don’t mind reapplying, this one’s for you.

  8. :

Definitely leather/whiskey on first spray, with a nice dry down. Does not last long at all. You really need to reapply. While this one is ok, you can tell it was the first try. Southern Blend wipes the floor with it. Part of a sampler, and not one I will purchase a full bottle of.

Man, do I love this scent. I am currently half-way through my second bottle, and I still cannot give the fragrance enough love. McGraw gives off a very mature feeling fragrance. This cologne has a very warm feel to it. The nutmeg, whiskey, amber, and tonka bean jump out the most to me.
The fragrance last a good 4 – 6 hours on my skin. Just the perfect amount needed to last me through a day at work or a night out. However, silage could be better. I put around 3 sprays on before I went to lunch with my girlfriend, and she could barely smell it on me, even though she was right beside me.

This is a pleasant enough scent for the price. I would describe it as vanilla, sweet boozey and spice- like most everyone else has. It shares many of the same qualities as Michael Korrs- and note that I don’t say it smells like it because it only has a faint resemblance.
Call me crazy, but when I first spray this on I think it smells just like those old, orange childrens aspirins that I think were supposed to be orange flavored.
I like it for a cheap everyday, manly smell.

I actually like this. It starts off with a vanilla-like/lite woodsy note along with something I can only describe as a dough-like scent/smell.
It is different and very inexpensive.
You can walk into a room and stand apart from the crowd though not above it.

I really like this on my significant other. It Smells really masculine. It has an older vibe to it. I like the older colognes like stetson, old spice, and brut. That is what I mean by it having an older vibe. It’s not a fresh, aquatic type of scent that is popular now days. It doesn’t last long though.

Out of all of the colognes I own, this one is one of my favorites. To me, it almost smelled like Dr. Pepper. When first put on, it smells smooth and sweet with the subtle spice of nutmeg. It later develops to a more woody scent with the sandalwood and very light undertones of whiskey. Not a real robust fragrance but definetly a good manly scent. I would have to say though, it may be a potentially more difficult fragrance for everyone to wear-smells a lot better on some rather than others (my friend liked it on me and got it for his self, but didn’t really smell great on him). overall, I’d give this an 8/10

Man, Honest to god. I spritzed a bit on the back of my hand at a K-mart, ‘cuz they had a tester out.
30 minutes later, it was almost gone. I can still smell a VERY soft scent that’s slightly sweet and green, like a synthetic, tiny flower. (mind you, I don’t find synthetic scents bad)

This is a signature scent of a guy that i work with in a machine shop. It smells good and seems to last long on him (im the second shift he is mornings)… I used his after shave he keeps at work, cause i ran out of mine that morning. razor burn was killing me.
To say the least, i felt like a french hooker… Cheap and trashy.
Keep in mind that it was only the after shave
Nice on some, dreadful on me.

Nice bottle, southern accent.Splendid in redneck style.Hot summer with a glas of whiskey over ice-simple ,but refreshing,I should say that I smell tonka not whiskey…Somehow reminds me Dunhill Persuit by Dunhill (sandalwood?),even the bottle.Gotta say that Dunhill is more sifisticated in comparison to Timy McGraw.

tim gets mad props for making a rugged fragrance in his own style, i get some greenery and outdoors feel to this one and its kinda woodsy and herbal in the drydown which makes it a very rugged type of sporty fragrance

Smells very good, has that boozy smell and i like that alot BUT..doesn’t last as long as I like it nor does it project very well. Good to wear for a event for a few hours. Good alternative fragrance if you can’t find anything like it with more silage and longevity.

I’m glad that I bought the 15 ml bottle- totally not my schtick. To me, it smells relentlessly sweet. Just that. Like a caramel with aspartame stirred in. That’s all I smell is this overpowering sweetness that smells like whiskey for a four year old- diluted with SUGAR. It’s not compelling or addicting, nor interesting to me. So yeah, there’s my rant.

  20. :

I can tell that its materials are of a higher grade than those of most celebuscents, but I must be partially anosmic to McGraw, as I can barely smell it. There’s a brief burst of spicy sweetness, a touch of wood, and then it’s gone. What I do get are very sheer lemon, nutmeg, and tonka notes against something that reminds me of the “leather” in English Leather. It’s possibly the same aroma chemical, only a bit upgraded and without EL’s raspiness. Nice enough, but totally forgettable.

This was gifted to me this year and I appreciate the chance to sample it. Nice body wash accompanied it-I always love that. Celebrity fragrance only go so far with todays very fickle market. As a fragrance, it is rather traditional. A very predictable fougere that has a very old school character.
Yes, we have been here many times before in the past. Lavender, bergamot and oakmoss are wrapped in tonka and coumaron. Its a bit sweet to be rugged. At no time is there a whiskey note. Perhaps some smokey incense at the base. Cowboys? I dont think so.
Is this the American country? Not at all. Its actually very French. Its inexpensive and totally wearable. Dont let the celebrity fool you. Will it be on the market in 10 years? Its highly doubtful. Get a bottle and stash it away.

The longevity is good but the projection (“sillage”) is poor, and as another reviewer said, that is just not acceptable, because fragrances with a similar idea, such as Kors’ Michael for Men, last a long time with good (or better) projection. Also, if you don’t like lavender I don’t see any reason to sample this one, because the lavender lasts a long time, though you may have trouble smelling it. At best, I think you’ll get a mild waft every once in a while, but if that’s what you want and you like lavender, this may be the one for you, since it’s not expensive and it’s reasonably natural smelling. It has a kind of creaminess that I tend to dislike, but it’s quite good here. It’s got an “old school” musky fougere aspect to it, but it’s not as dominant as in those older fragrances.
I would not buy this one at retail prices, but that’s because I already have a bunch that are somewhat similar and I like better. However, if you see this one at your local discounter for around $5, you might want to buy it, assuming you want a subtle fragrance and you enjoy lavender. If I sprayed 4 times or more to the chest, I might have a different opinion on this one, so I’ll have to try that one day, when I’m really in the mood for this kind of fragrance (then I’ll update this review). I think with 4 sprays it will either come across as unbalanced or else it will have really nice dynamism. I don’t think it will be too simple and boring.
Here is another take on it: Not bad at all, though I’m assuming you will get a bottle for around $5-$10 at a discount store. It’s got a nice vanillic/pachouli/woody base. There is a somewhat musky lavender and mild spice before you get to the base, and that persists as well. It’s not “synthetic” enough to be irritating, though the musky lavender may be too much for a lot of people. I need to be in the mood for it, and don’t think of this as an “office scent.” However, if you think of the base of Roadster and the middle notes of L’Instant Pour Homme EdT, then you will get an idea of McGraw. L’Instant is more gourmand/anisic whereas Roadster is herbal/minty, while McGraw is musky lavender/spice, so it’s sort of like what you want on the side of your steak to me: baked potato, French fries, or onion rings? Granted, the French fries might be better than the onion rings, but there are times when you prefer onion rings. Longevity and is quite good while projection (“sillage”) is moderate.

This fragrance is well suited for an older man. Very masculine. I detect mostly sweet leather and tobacco notes. Would be best for Winter evening wear. It smells nice and has good projection, but just make sure you are mature enough to pull this one off.

A weak and MUCH less sophisticated/complex version of Michael Kors. Mcgraw opens like coca cola but changes to a spicy woody. This cologne is an average fragrance but wants to compete in the same price range(fl.oz/$) with a cologne like Michael Kors?…. Pure Insanity!

  25. :

No whiskey here, just a pack of Milk Duds with a slight cucumber smell to it.
Surprisingly, McGraw lasts and projects pretty decently.
Actually, it’s not that bad, but not that good either.
    5/10

To me this is a scent with balls like Micheal Kors. This and Southern Blend are both excellent fragrances for being a celebrity scent. This Is defintely a masculine scent through and through.

  27. :

I definitely get the wiskey note and the nutmeg! That’s the first thing that i’ve noticed, and the fact that it was a bit sweet.the tonka bean probably.and that it was well balanced and sexy.i imagine a man rather masculine wearing this, but with a twist.like the fragrance with the tonka bean.like it! Sexy!

I enjoyed trying this scent for myself. It worked well with my body chemistry producing a slightly sweet, but decidedly woody spicey scent. I didn’t smell whiskey or anything of the sort in it, but I don’t mind that. My nearest drugstore has it in 1oz amount for $24. I will deffinitly pick it and its counter part up for myself.

  29. :

I agree, I can’t smell whisky at all. But it is sweet, yet not as robust as the magazine add made it out to be. I’ll still wear it though, but on special occasions.

  30. :

McGraw opens very mossy, slightly sweet, and spiced with Nutmeg. Bergamot supports the opening. The Moss coming from the heart is joined by a very nice, refined Lavender note. The base adds sweetness with Tonka and light Patchouli.
As the scent progresses the Amber and Sandal become more prominent in the base and this is the only change throughout the life of the scent. Very linear, except for later in the dry down. There is supposed to be whiskey in the base notes, but I don’t smell any alcoholic beverages in this. There are no sharp notes in it, it’s smooth and medium sweet.
It’s different, not generic. Projection and longevity are average. I like it.
