Description

A new version of a classic formula from the 1920s. Lysval incorporates some of the richest floral essences to evoke the richness and tranquility of an English garden.

Flowers like ylang-ylang, Indian jasmine, rose orange blossom are supported by the heart of French orris, benzoin and warm sandalwood. The base combines hyacinth, lily-of-the-valley and freesia.

It is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDT.

A watery jonquil jasmine, slight rubbery plastic. Very weak and faint after 20min. Really have to press your nose to skin to smell this after 30 minutes. Cheap pharmacy quality.

Easy but well combined mélange of white flowers and musk with hints of sandalwood and classy floral notes affording at once since the beginning modern brightness and classicism. At first spray, I get a swirling scent of jasmine, followed by the ylang ylang. Then comes the rose. It seems to get stronger and stronger for the first fifteen minutes after it is applied, eventually settling down.

I bought a bottle of this via Ebay after seeing the lovely purple bottle and expensive looking packaging. Had heard of Girard Lysval before so expected something that had a heavy floral note.
Nothing, and I mean, nothing could have prepared me for the smell! Sprayrd it on my wrist and was surprised my nasal passages survived….even more surprised my wrist didn’t disintigrate!
Fair enough it did smell floral….like when you’ve left dead flowers in a vase too long and the stems get all soggy and smelly? Like that but with a large dollop of cow poo stirred in!
I love perfume and have tried many different ones over the years but never in my life have I smelt anything like this.
Saying this I have kept the bottle as it is very pretty but, I have superglued the lid on so no-one can spray it!

I like Lysval so much! An oppulent flower bouquet. Not a vintage, a strong and so feminine floral. The hyacinth note is so strong, and someone can fell old flowers in a bottle, but I like so much! I think Lysval is a great perfume!

I wouldn’t describe it as poo, but it’s very chemical and unpleasant. I threw it in the toilet and the water became white! There are surely some nasty chemicals in it.

some people are assoziating funerals with this scent, i agree, some funeral hall in the south of italy, where it is very hot and dampy, the aroma of dead bodies in the heat swirling around with some rotten flowers aroma of the old graves inbetween…. i just could not catch any other aroma than a dirty punguent and disgusting smell of something from another world, but not the perfume world for shure. it’s sad people dislike bad reviews about this perfume… i think it’s okay to tell the true feelings about it.

Ha, Ha … miZZpuRRfect, your review made me laugh!!!! I’m DYING to smell this stinky, poopy smelling perfume for myself just to see if my nose too can pick up the unique poopy aroma!! Perhaps where it says on here ‘This Perfume Reminds Me of …’ there should be a way you could put a photo of some poo up so that people can be well forewarned about this perfume!! Also, I notice that in the Main Accords thing at the top of the page, Lysval is slightly ‘Balmy’! I guess that might be a more subtle, veiled way of saying it stinks like sh**!! Anyway, if anyone has a sample of this stinky perfume they want to offload on somebody then I’d be happy to smell it for myself so feel free to contact me about it!! ;o))

I’m sorry but this stuff is vile. I have a few hiacynth fragrances in my collection and this one can’t be any further from either natural or pleasant. The whole quality of the composition is very heavy and oppressive to the point of suffocating. The best way I can describe it is it’s like being in a funeral parlour with all those flowers on a hot summer day without air conditioner. Even spraying in the air smells awful. Threw it away.

as FunkyTomo mentioned before, this perfume smells like poooooo!!!! yes exactly like poo, no joke! (if someone would tell me there’s a perfume out there smelling like poo, i would not believe it neither untill i just would have verified it myself) well, FunkyTomo, your bottle isn t spoiled, it was the same for me and i also had to wash it off because who wanna smell like poo please? hard to believe someone could create such an odor as a perfume scent! i m really sorry for all lysval lovers (if there are any!???), but i can’t really understand what someone can find nice from poo smell.
if you wear Lysval and people run away from you, believe me, it’s just a normal human reaction, maybe dogs would be pleased… haha if you don t believe us, please try it out, it’s well worthy every penny for the big fun to smell this once in your life, almost when you open the parcel and try it out with some gorlfriends, you will laugh to death about this odor and then make a run competition to the bathroom, who’s first to wash this evil stinker off. nice bottle though.
I even thought to pass my bottle around fragranticas and every person has to film her reaction and upload it on youtube, when she smells Lysval for the first time, that could be quite funny! 😀

This perfume , and the other Girads , are avail at bargain prices here in the UK.
I was excited to test this one , after reading the good reviews here. Smells like Posion/Plum/A strong blast of Jasmine ….Hmm sounds good I thought.
I dont know if the perfume i tested was off , or if its my nose, but this smelt dreadfull to me. A distint “poo” note , very similar to what i remembered Kate Moss “Vintage Muse” to be like. Not nice at all . I couldnt detect any flowers , plums or anything.
I tried to give it the chance to develop , but i had to wash it off after 20mins as it was making me feel ill.
I really did want to like this , as i like the purple bottle. I was hoping it would be a good affordable “Posion” alternative.
No offence to the people who like this , but its not for me.
Maybe the jasmine in it , is of the “indolic” variety , which can sometimes create the “poo” type smell?

Have you ever been to a funeral in Eastern Europe in summer around 40 degrees Celsius?
    This fragrance, gives that feeling,
the hyacinth is not the water one
    but the real thing,
as real as if you just cut the flower in the summer morning.
    (not listed)here…
Nice enough, but strictly for winter.

Beautiful bottle but the fragrance is to aggressive for my taste. I like florals, and strong oriental types but something in the top notes of this just came across as smelling “old” like your great-grandma’s perfume (and not in a good, Chanel No.5 sort of way)

I am addicted to this now,it is a blast so you have to be careful. I prefer the handcreme in fact but it will be hard then impossible to get ,sadly.

It opens with a blast of jasmine and slightly sour (?) ylang-ylang (weird, because typically ylang-ylang tends to be too sweet and cloying on me). Then it develops into most pleasant and natural blue hyacinth smell I’ve encountered outside my flowerpot;) The drydown is slightly woodsy, though different rich flowers dominate this fragrance from the beginning till end. Try it – you will enjoy it even if you (like me) won’t be able to wear it…
