Description

Diesel spices up its perfume line with the new edgy edition named Loverdose in a game of words that be interpreted as “Lover Dose” or “Love Overdose”. The fragrance is announced as a “beautiful but deadly weapon of seduction”, made to “ignite passions like never before”.

Diesel Loverdose allegedly possesses molecules that stimulate hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for attraction and lust. The very composition is floral – spicy, opening with star anise and mandarin. Sambac jasmine, licorice and gardenia petals form the core of the composition, placed on an oriental base of amber, vanilla and woody notes.

The bottle is symbolically designed to resemble a heart – shaped diamond pierced by an arrow, colored in intense shades of purple. The face of the fragrance is a young model Ashley Smith.

Diesel Loverdose is available as 35, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

Loverdose was launched in 2011.

Agreed: In between Hypnotic Poison and Lolita Lempicka. But with:
    – lower quality and diluted ingredients
    – poor sillage
    – zero longevity.
Skin scent. Unless you have your nose glued to your wrist…you won’t smell a thing!

To me, this is a lighter, younger, fruitier version of Hypnotic Poison. If you like HP, but find it too heavy for you, try this one out. Loverdose is a beautiful, sexy fragrance.

Very sweet but kind of spicy at the same time. Doesn’t last too long but sillage seems decent. Really like the scent but I get a mild headache in the first half hour since it’s quite strong!
Think it’s (slightly) similar to Lolita-Lempicka and Angel – but I prefer Lolita out of the 3!

Sumptuous, rich and dreamy. It is a cold morning here and i needed something sweet and rich for warmth. There is licorice vanilla, amber, woods and sweet but not high pitched jasmine undertone. It reminds me of Alien. I love that it seems to float about you and you can experience the fragrance while wearing it. It is not just a skin scent. This is definitely a comfort scent for me. It is also very sexy and perfect for a date night….actually this is a scent to wear just for the love of it.

This is Lolita Lempicka’s obnoxious millennial cousin chugging a watermelon Four Loko and sucking on a blue raspberry Ring Pop while she peaks on MDMA at an electronic music festival.
I picked up a mini based on so many reviews touting its strong licorice AND anise notes, two of my favorites in all of perfumery. I love licorice for its pungency, but it’s sorely lacking here. Every time I give this frag “one last chance”, I end up having to douse my body in copious amounts of Black Vines as an act of contrition to appease the licorice gods.
All I get from this is FRUIT. Not a specific – or even necessarily real – one; I imagine the perfumer reaching for a hot pink bottle labeled, “Froot,” dumping it into a beaker of sucrose, sprinkling the leavings from a bag of licorice candy on top, and calling it a day.
I generally dislike leaving overtly negative reviews because scent is so personal, and to each her own. But this is as sickly sweet and juvenile on my skin as any generic (insert female pop star) frag. Those mass market celeb scents never fail to smell thoughtless and plasticky on me, and this is more of the same.

I love Loverdose. It’s rich and quite heavy, definitely a winter perfume for me. The licorice is sweet and dark at the same time, the most dominant note on this one (for me at least), but it still doesn’t cover the others. I had my eyes and nose on this one for so long before I bought my first bottle six years ago, and I will keep purchasing this over and over again. Worth the price.

Not only do i just love the scent of Loverdose – it has become a super sentimental bottle for me. I’m tempted to try the flankers. When i was pregnant with our son we decided to name him Diesel and my husband went to a Diesel store after work and bought me a bottle of Loverdose. To this day (my son is now 3) it means so much to me because my husband is not a shopper or a gift giver so even if i hated the scent i would still cherish it. Luckily i think it smells amazing. Perhaps not super unique and for everyone tastes (it can remind me of black opium, Lolita Lempicka, and an Acqua di parm frag I had at times) but i will always keep this bottle because of the thought behind it. I know this doesn’t help as a review but i had to share the story behind it.

Ever since I got this perfume, I haven’t worn any other. Every time I wear it, I smell something new!
First time I wore it, after it settled I could strongly smell licorice.
Yesterday noon, I wore a lot (it smelled weird in the begining) and this morning I woke up smelling like chocolate and vanilla (yet not in a too sweet childish way)
I love the bottle design & I love the fragrance.
I find it hard to describe but all I can say is:
    It’s a work of Art.

I haven’t been able to wear this in a while since I’ve got roommates who are sensitive to something in this: their noses aren’t bothered by the heaviest powderiest floral musk scents I own, but this definitely sets something off so I’d be cautious with it.
I love the bottle design, the way it feels is just as important (if not more important) than the way it looks and this fits right in the palm of your hand.
The geometric shapes and angles almost give it a worry stone kind of a feel.
And the colour is right up my alley, I tend to find shades of purple a lot more romantic and alluring than pinks and reds.
I wouldn’t say Loverdose is meant for everyday wear, but damn if it doesn’t lift my spirits whenever I smell it in the city.
Even a little sniff off the nozzle in the cosy of my own room fills me with joy.
It might be entirely the sweet licorice note, it reminds me of a tea I love and after all, I’m Finnish.
It’s just candy for your nose.
My 40-year-old aunt wears it too and it’s great on her even though most of her signatures are those kind of balmy incense scents.
It makes me feel like I’m at an amusement park at night, when the sky starts to get blue and the air is still warm.
When there are no people screaming, or running around, but the lights are all on and I’ve still got time to buy a soft serve.

After the initial blast of citrus, this settled into a creamy anise vanilla. It was so juicy at the beginning that I was a bit shocked to discover it’s final incarnation. Delighted kind of shocked. Gorgeous bottle as well.
Edit: It’s two hours later and it gets creamier and prettier. Very happy!

This is so sweet and heady. It’s perfect when you want something dense and kinda “chewy”. If you have a jasmine based fragrance that you want to elevate, try layering it with this. You won’t be disappointed.

This perfume smelled so sexy to me when I was in my late teens. It’s still a great scent! It’s very sweet but you’re talking about a warm kind of sweetness. It’s not too sugary. Vanilla, licorice and anise notes are a great combination. The orange note refreshes it in a very subtile way. It’s a pretty unique and distinctive blend!

I tried this alongside a couple of others
I have to say the liquorice and star anise stood out prominently.
Overall a pleasant scent, I find this brand to sit alongside paco rabanne in terms of overall scent.
Warm, soft spiced, liquorice, I would have to try this alone without other scents interfering to really say if it’s strong or not.
    From memory it lasted reasonably

  14. :

    3 out of 5

Let me start by saying this is SO strong and also very sweet, Not in a sickly way but more of a dry powdery sweetness. It smells like a licorice candy nestled amongst white flowers and vanilla pods. The bottle is so beautiful I’d purchase this for that alone but luckily I love the juice inside as well! Very long lasting, very recognizable and unique. Gets alot of compliments. For bad girls, not nice girls.

Pretty good. I had pink sugar too, but way better than pink sugar. I think it would be better in cold weather ? It last really long if you put it on your hair.

Such a delicious scent! It really raises the licorice appetite on me ;D Very warm and sensual, feminine but not too serious.I get strong vanilla, licorice and anis with a hint of fresh jasmine, mandarin orange and honey (although it does not appear in notes list).Perhaps not a first choice for hot summer day, but really nice autumn, winter or maybe spring scent.

would have bought it if only it didn’t have the anise notes !!!!!! it gives me a stomach ache

  18. :

Not a gourmand to me. I only sense the floral part of the pyramid, plus the licorice, which is not a lovely note for me. In 30 minutes there’s something sweet, but I’m not a fan of waiting until I get to it. I think the pyramid votes in the right side should be more reliable, because I’m being misled many times now. Maybe I have a messed up nose, maybe the rest of the women.

From the first sniff I was overwhelmed with love for this,I absolutely love licorice and yes this one certainly has it,with a backdrop of vanilla and a speck of white flowers that runs through.
The licorice is sweet yet sexy, the longevity is crazy, and the projection is awesome, this really warms on my skin, and the sweet heady aroma is something really good.
The bottle is something to admire, and the perfume itself is admired by many…..you can not overdose on this Loverdose!!
This scent matches a personality with sass and rock n roll….bit like myself then LOL
A great love and thumbs up for me!!
    ————-Edit—————–
The dry down is stunning, after several hours this morphs into an ambery vanilla that is beautiful, I normally love patchouli in my fragrances, this is one of them that has not got any, yet the vanilla is a sexy vanilla and not a sweet cupcake variety which I hate…..edible sexiness!!!

I have been afraid of licorice/anise in perfume but I also like to challenge myself by wearing scents that contain notes I have a hard time with. Honestly I love the spice that the licorice and anise add to this. It smells delicious. This is more what I expected Lolita Lempicka to smell like but I ended up being mostly asnomic to it and disappointed. This would have been a rather boring vanilla based scent if not for the licorice which transforms it into a unique gourmand delight.

I sampled this at London Drugs today. Meh. I mean, maybe I would’ve liked it at the beginning of my perfume journey when I didn’t know any better. But this just doesn’t compare to my beloved Obsession, Coco, or Opium. I think a far superior anise/vanilla scent is Alien Essence Absolue by Thierry Mugler. Sorry, Loverdose isn’t for me. Great bottle though.

I normally HATE anything that smells of licorice but somehow I LOVE this perfume! My boyfriend bought it as a blind buy gift for me as the bottle was so pretty. He did well! Perfect perfume for a autumn/winter night. Smells of licorice sweets and vanilla with orange flower, a strange mix but works very well.

My cousin told me the original loverdose is getting discontinued! Is that true? I looked it up online and I don’t see anything. I called Shopper drug mart and she said she doesn’t know but she hasn’t seen it in stores in a year. I need to know if this is getting discontinued because if it is, then I will but it!

  25. :

Man, I used to think this was so sexy in my late teens, and don’t get me wrong, it’s a recognisable scent which is excellent for a young woman looking for something unique. However…
The licorice is so strong on me, it’s all licorice and candy and heady white florals that kick in eventually. It’s an unsubtle scent that doesn’t suit me anymore. I like licorice notes but you simply cannot wear this scent around the house or to bed. It’s a nightclub scent, it commands attention.
But it is sexy. And I do like it. But I don’t love it. Just like I don’t love clubbing anymore, haha!
If you want something softer that has hints of this, have a look at Wish by Chopard.

What is happening to me?? I think I’m having an olfactory crisis. This used to be my signature scent, and relished in her licorice-y vanilla vibe.
I went through a period of needing to find another signature scent last year and in walked Ms. Hypnotic Poison. Our love affair is intense and ongoing, but due to olfactory fatigue I can no longer smell HP. I needed to have a vacation from her.
I’ve been wearing a slew of other decants, samples, and bottles and I must embarrassingly admit I’m having a bit of a fling with Pink Sugar, mostly because of the licorice, though nobody but nobody can smell licorice in PS but me.
I partly like PS because it reminds me of the licorice note in Loverdose. I’ve worn Loverdose a few times since I’ve shacked up with HP, but I’m finding her rather sharp and cloying at the same time. Her vanilla no longer smells decadent and the powder comes out like a shout. I can’t even smell the licorice. How is this possible? I loved her with all my heart and now I can’t even be near her; it breaks my heart ;-(
I hope we can be friends again in the future.

So I just got a sample vial of this one in the mail and my immediate reaction is that it’s a lot sweeter than I expected. It reminds me so much of Viva La Juicy or Katy Perry’s fragrances or any other cheap candy coated juice. It’s okay but it’s been done before. I’ve had it on for 5 minutes and I’m already bored. If you’re looking for a perfume with a licorice – type note you’re better off with Hypnotic Poison or Lolita Lempicka.

Blind buy. I just had to take a shower to remove this noxious scent from my skin. If you want to smell like a synthetic, nauseating impression of a root beer float mixed with play dough, this is the fragrance for you! Headache within minutes. Ugghghgh.

I have red loverdose and I love it,I also love the black one so this was a must try for me,today I received my sample and as soon as I dabbed some on my hand I was hooked!this is amazing!
If you’re looking for a liquorice/vanilla/anise heaven, this is The one..it’s creamy, dreamy.delicious without being sugary, fresh in a special way..my nose is sticked to my hand..I desperately need to bath in it
I can’t even explain how much excited I am,after testing almost 400 perfumes I’ve just been this much excited a couple of times,so this can’t be a generic scent
I can see a little similarity between this and lolita but differences are more.more than any other perfume, it reminds me police blossom but loverdose is brighter
This is as smooth and soft as angel’s feathers, and veryyy yummy, and comforting and sexy and oh,I’m in love
    Highly recommended to vanilla,liquorice lovers
Longevity is very good, sillage is just as I like, noticeable not just from so close but not also overpowering
I can wear this everytime and everywhere but it’s better in chilly weather
There are very unique and high quality diesel scents,I should try the others too
    ❤❤❤❤❤
Edit:last week I received my bottle and there are some points I want to add
First ppint is about it’s longevity which is amazing.my skin is white and normal.most perfumes stay moderately on me(about 4,5 hours)I sprayed loverdose before night sleep.just two sprays on my wrists.I can detect it very easily next day.it becomes faint afternoon!so longevity is +12 hours!
The other point is about it’s opening.some people may find it medicinal or plasticy,I get that but make sure to let it settle down.I can’t find slightest trace of plastic feeling after couple of minutes.I’m already addicted to this babe and I’m craving for liquorice delights all the days

I got my loverdose and its so so good its sweet&smells almost exactly like black licorice yet its smooth&fresh in a candy sweet fresh way….I do not know how to explain that part….it lasts&is in my sweet favorites list, unique to me&it doesn’t smell like lolita lempicka orig, its way sweeter&I love this naughty sweetness!!!I also love lolita but there different some ppl compare so just saying… Longevity is Fan!

My first memory of this perfume is in Paris. I was walking near the Louvre, and I found this little perfume shop. I pulled my father in and begged to buy a perfume. Loverdose happens to be one of my favorite perfumes, and it’s the first one I’ve loved. It’s sweet but it isn’t. It’s harsh but it isn’t. I was so devastated when I was done with the bottle. 100% would buy again.

  33. :

Very much enjoy the scent for its black licorice kick. It is gourmand, slightly fruity, very faintly floral with a lot of amber vanilla to add oomph to the anise. This is very, very similar to a lot of Lolita Lempicka perfumes. If you have one, you don’t necessarily “need” the other, unless you are a black licorice freak like me. Black licorice is my favorite candy, way over anything chocolate or vanilla. So, I think we fall in about 5% of the population; this scent is for us.
This is also a warm comforting scent, and, I think many will find it sexy. I don’t know if I would say “sophisticated” but it is definitely a warmer fragrance. In the “fruity-licious” genre, this one does fall in the middle (and I generally abhor those), but the licorice makes it different.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

I smelled this for the first time about a year ago, and ever since I’ve been in love with it, but never could find in stores around me. Earlier today, I finally got it!
To me, Loverdose is a warm/spicy, slightly powdery, black licorice scent with hints of vanilla. I believe the slight spicy powder I detect is the amber or the woodsy notes? Maybe a little jasmine, but I don’t really get any gardenia or much orange scent from it. The vanilla isn’t a overpowering note, either. I know some scents dry down to almost pure vanilla, but Loverdose keeps it’s licorice or star anise notes strong.
If you don’t like the smell of black licorice, you most likely will not like this because Loverdose smells exactly like black licorice.
I don’t consider this “generic” like some call it, off the top of my head I can only thing of two fragrances that are supposed to have a prominent licorice note. Pink Sugar, which I personally can’t smell any licorice in and Lolita Lempicka which I’ve never smelled. It’s not the “generic” fruity sweet, or tooth decay sweet. Sure, it’s probably not the most groundbreaking unique fragrance but it’s definitely NOT generic imo.
I feel like any age could wear this and rock it. I think it would be fine to wear in day time, but I think it would really shine at night. I think I’ll end up wearing this perfume regularly, I can easily see it becoming my go-to fragrance.

    Oh My God!
    I’m in chock!!!
First fresh and sweet (nothing really special) and after ten minutes…
    KABOOM!
    Is it?
    No… I mean, it can’t be….
Well, it is! IT IS A LOVE <3
Sweet licorish. anise, vanilla, jasmine and amber and a small touch of citrus keeps it fresh.
I totally need this one! In my opinion it could be worn 24/7 and definitely by men to!

Has anyone seen this at any retail stores lately?? I really want this but do not want to purchase online. This sounds like “my” kinda fragrance — all the notes are my loves 🙂

This one is awesome in a lot of ways. Screams uniqueness. I recommend a colourful haircut and a sassy attitude to go along with it. I used to wear it a lot at parties, but now when I am older I don’t feel like me in it anymore. My little sister rocks my last bottle nowadays.
All supercool persons under the age of circs 25 should definitely give this one a try. Could work as unisex.

Several fellow Fragranticans suggested this in a thread I posted asking for anise/licorice fragrances.
My mini arrived yesterday, along with several other anise-based fragrances. I tried all of them on different parts of my skin. I thought it smelled pretty good…
I had to go to Office Depot about 45 minutes after applying. As I walked in, I kept smelling the most delightful aroma wafting up from one of the fragrances and was not sure which one it was. It was powdery, fresh, sensual and utterly beguiling. I followed my nose to the spot on my forearm where I had applied Loverdose and yes! That was it.
The anise is there but more subtle than I had hoped. I hadn’t realized that gardenia petals were part of the composition and I can certainly smell them; creamy, musky and sweet just as I like them to be. I also get a very white amber, vanilla and sandalwood. I have it on today and the gardenias are driving me wild, kissed as they are by the anise and wood. This is a sweet fragrance but not too sweet; we’ve had some cool, rainy days lately and it performs brilliantly in this weather.
I get nothing whatsoever of TM Alien from this; if I did, I couldn’t wear it as I find that fragrance atrocious. This is not quite the aromatic summer anise fragrance I was looking for, but I love it all the same and I’ll see how it plays out after I’ve used up my mini. Very, very nice!

Loverdose, how I enjoy you, and so does my fiancé.
Your sweet vanilla, powdery, licorice warm scent, with your soft spicy kick, you are sure to make a nice statement.
I remember I got a very small bottle as a gift from a family member and I just had to get the bigger bottle when I have finally ran out.
I will use you more wisely. Lol.
    Love it

I had a sample of this a while back and still remember it quite well. On my skin it’s similar to Alien, an initial blast of fruit and flowers and something carbonated. Then it softened into a dark licorice.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Liquorice heaven, thus inevitably compared to Lolita Lempicka. Smelling the two one after another I think that Loverdose is sharper and more liquorice-oriented whereas Lolita Lempicka is rounder and amps up the star anise. Loverdose is sexier, Lolita Lempicka is cuter. I seem to prefer the former.

  45. :

A couple of years ago, I ordered a red lipstick online, and when it arrived, there was a sample vial of Diesel Loverdose in my order. I wore both that night, and found they were perfectly paired; Loverdose is undoubtedly a red lipstick, high heels and seduction sort of fragrance. The first spray is sweet and fruity, before drying down to a sensual combination of vanilla, star anise and woods, with the liquorice note lingering beautifully throughout and providing the unique depth and personality that makes Loverdose so special. Even in jeans and a sweatshirt, Loverdose always makes me feel attractive. I lusted after it for ages after my sample ran out until I finally bought a full bottle last week, and found it to be the same stunning fragrance it was when I first tried it. I think I will always have a bottle of this in my collection.

Warm, sweet, medicinal anise, very recognisable, if a little overworn! However, I find it to be quite gorgeous actually, and enjoy the plume of sweetness around me as I work. I care not if every other girl half my age is saturated in this stuff, I will enjoy it for myself 🙂

I am a lover of strong scents and sweet scents but I find the liquorice note too overpowering. It’s very sweet verging very sickly and nauseating. I’m very disappointed, based off the notes I thought that I would of love this.

Since I like licorice, I have nothing againt this fragrance but it doesn’t work as a daily perfume for me. Still, I don’t dislike it, I would just not buy it.

Summary: Sugar overdose. And WTH it smells just like TM’s Alien on the dry down. Very unexpected.
First it smelled a little medicinal. But then I started to smell like a big delicious licorice all-sort. It’s really quite yummy. I do enjoy it. Wouldn’t mind a small bottle of my own. I disagree with comparisons to Lolita Lempicka however, Diesel is straight aniseed & vanilla, while Lolita has a lot of complexity from the florals, tonka, fruit and woods. This is much sweeter and more linear with the licorice playing a very dominant & true to life role. Sillage is big and longevity is likewise impressive. I do agree with the idea of a Flowerbomb/Lolita lovechild though, also, I can see the Black Opium comparison but I like this better. Black Opium is disappointing because it doesn’t live up to the YSL Opium reputation. But that is another review. This does remind me slightly of the dense sweetness that fills the room when someone has over-applied Flowerbomb.
Update: I changed my mind, maybe it’s the mood I am in right now but it is a bit much- makes me feel ill. Feel like a little kid who has gotten ill on too many sweets. Or the aversion to alcohol after a hangover. I enjoyed it for a while but I don’t think I will buy it. It is aptly likened to an overdose is all I can say.
    PS
I know what this reminds me of! Thierry Mugler’s Alien!! The jasmine on the drydown smells ridiculously similar to Alien. Except I love Alien, and Loverdose is overwhelming for me today.
PPS What the heck? It’s four hours in and all I can smell is TM’s Alien! Just reading through the reviews and a lot of others are mentioning Alien too.

I am in love with this fragrance. It is not one I would usually go for at all as I am normally drawn towards ‘clean’ smells but this one just blows me away. Sexy, soft, warm. I’m useless on notes but to me it is sweet, kind of condensed milk mixed with fabric softener. Just….lush. It’s sexy and cosy all in one and is even better when layered with some kind of cocoa body butter.
It’s a softer, creamier version of Alien, in my view.

I stumbled upon this today at shoppers drug mart for 20 dollars, they are trying to clean out a lot of inventory for all the Christmas stuff so lucky for me they are super selling so so much! Well…I must say, I love this! Something must be happening to my sniffer, I used to ONlY like the really girly, fresh aquatic and fruity smells, I was never into anything vanilla or spicy or anything even remotely close to this…but wow I love this! It’s so strange to me how much I love this lol

Like below said, this does smell like Black Opium to me, at least to me this smells like what Black Opium should smell like. There’s much more zest to this, a very sharp licorice liquor smell, mmph. This is edgy, I’m sure it won’t work on all skin types, licorice is funny like that, but on the right person, this is sex appeal in a bottle.
After is dries, it does get very sweet (at least on my skin it does), like syrupy gardenias, very heady like Black Opium in a heavy sweet vanilla woody smell. Very lovely. I wouldn’t purchase a full bottle, but it is nice. Try before buy, results will vary greatly with skin types.
UPDATE: tried it a second time, I’m starting to like it more and more, might be a full bottle purchase. Now it smells a bit more licorice-y with bubble gum and rootbeer smell, sounds foul I know, but this aroma is actually pretty yummy. It’s dark and bubbly all at once, wow, but it works. Imagine a cute young girl smacking bubblegum but despite her cheery, giggly disposition she adorns herself with jet black lipstick and spiky boots…sweet with some bite! The bottle is wicked cool as well.
Perhaps it’s just my skin. I do wish it projected a little more, then again this is just a dab. A full blast of this would be dynamic and unusual, I like it. Smells quite different from what you expect these days in typical womens perfume.

If you love the smell of liquorice then this is it! on my skin its a liquorice bomb. I love eating it but I don’t necessary want to smell like it. I didnt expect that note to be so overbearing.

when I found this juice and it was instant Love. Surprised that coco is not listed but the liquorice is very noticeable. there is a sexy smokiness like a waft of smoke from backstage.
    THIS IS ROCK N ROLL!
and the bottle is sparkly gorgeous glassy artsy purple chunk to sit on my vanity.
    Scent 10/10
    Bottle 10/10
Previously I grieved “must all perfumes contain Gardenia”.
Turns out that is one of the notes that makes scents really work on my skin, so I take that comment back.
    Gardenia. bring it.

Lolita Lempicka and Flowerbomb gave birth to a lovechild at the Good and Plenty factory and named the deranged but lovable creature Loverdose. Paris Hilton’s Dazzle must have been in the room too.
To me this smells like spicy pepper, wildflowers, candy and a bit of honey. Love this but I think it would really shine in colder weather, the sweetness would be cloying in the heat. I see this being in heavy rotation once the cold months hit.
The bottle is charming too…so cute!

Very warm, sweet, and spicy scent. I am trying this on a sunny July day, so it seems a bit too musky/heavy/sickly, but I imagine in the cooler months- in fall and winter, it will be much better.
Right after I put this on, my boyfriend said “Mmm…Vanilla!” And I was surprised because though it smells very sweet, vanilla isn’t exactly what I smelled. A couple people mentioned licorice, but I don’t smell that.
Reviewers are comparing this to Viva La Juicy and YES! That’s what it reminds me of. Love the bottle!

I’m beginning to think I am just plain weird. I have tried a lot of perfumes and while I like some, I have never loved a scent as much as Loverdose. Being that I am a middle-aged woman (though I feel 25), it might be a bit “young” for me, but I love how the scent changes on me. It’s complex to me, starting out with a burst of licorice (which was a huge surprise to me when I first tried it as I hate licorice as a candy but oh so lovely to my nose). I don’t particularly smell any one flower, but it is somewhat flowery with this subtle but yummy undertone of vanilla sweetness.
After about an hour it settles into a very comforting but happiness inducing sweet scent of vanilla cotton candy (it especially comes out when I wash my hands with hot water and it releases the smell off my wrists).
The odd thing about this perfume is NOBODY can smell it on me. Either it’s got not projection or the complexity I smell isn’t shared by everyone else. I smell it just fine (though it does go away pretty quickly after about 2 hours), I just figured my nose got used to it but when I ask my friends they all say they don’t smell anything. Oh well, as long as it gives me joy and isn’t offensive to others near me, who cares, right?!

My first impression on paper, is Viva La Juicy with licorice.
    That works for me.
After 1 hour on paper… very potent! I’m so happy with this. It still smells like VLJ with licorice, but if you like VLJ but find it weak with bad sillage– this may be your answer!
I can’t wait to wear this on my skin!
About 2 hours later, one spray on paper is just like VLJ. I am comparing notes, and they are 60% the same.
Worn on skin has great potency and sillage for about 2-3 hours and then it truly is gone, or just a light clothing musk. I still adore it.

I tried a small sample vial.
Upon initial application the fragrance is pleasant, warm and sweet, but eventually it caused me a mild headache. The scent just turned annoying on me.
Besides the headache, it’s an all right perfume. Nothing outstanding about it. . .

I like to try things so despite the licorice, which I can’t stand the smell of, I gave this a whirl.
First spray is nauseating for the licorice-averse like me.
It does eventually dry down to a less licorice-heavy scent, but it is still there. It smel
