Description

Love in Black is a perfume for women introduced in 2008. Inspired by former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, the fragrance is composed of ingredients from the places this intriguing public figure visited and loved.

Top notes encompass Italian violet, night-blooming jasmine and cedar from Virginia. The heart adds Florentine iris, cloves and Tonkin musk, while the base introduces Bourgogne black currant and Bulgarian rose. The flacon is created from black sand like that of the Greek isles. This edition celebrates magic of each woman and evening elegance, which is completed by a ribbon bow on the neck of the bottle. Love in Black was created by Olivier Creed Sixth Generation and Erwin Creed Seventh Generation.

This is the best perfume from Creed and one of the best Perfumes ever made… why some people hate it is something I will never understand. Seriously why?!

This is by far the best of the newer female offerings from Creed! Violet, with a little bit of darkness in the background. Powdery purple candy.
To me, it’s a darker version of Insolence. Insolence is a more light & airy violet, while Love in Black has more depth. I love them both. Since I already have a bottle of Insolence, I’ll hold off on a full bottle for now.

Creed’s Love in Black is a very elegant fragrance with depth and a touch of sophistication. The violet and iris are prominent but they’re not overwhelming. The soft fruit and musk notes tame the powder bloom and the cedar adds a slight dryness which is more noticable once the fragrance settles on the skin. There’s a soft sweet spicy note forever in the powder bloom that can’t be distinguished, but you know it’s there. The rose isn’t heavy, but rather sweet and graceful. Toward the end you’re left with a sweet soft floral that gives you a sense of comfort and confidence at the same time.
Love in Black performs well in cooler weather (late fall/winter) and can be worn day or night, especially in winter. It’s even better if you allow the perfume to fall on your “hot spots” rather than spray close and directly. Three sprays is sufficient. Longevity is astounding with 8+ hours, and the projection is pleasant and unoffensive. It will always have a place in my collection.

My husband bought Creed Love In Black for himself cos he loves this scent on him! I know Creed fragrances are all pretty much unisex but this was marketed as a feminine scent. On my husband, the violets provide the strong floral notes and the black currant notes provide the sweetness that reminds me of strawberry and cream lollies from Streets. On the dry down I smell more black currant and musk notes and the black currant is not as sweet as the first initial spray. The other floral notes are not as noticable. It is a wearable everyday scent and actually more subtle than most of the Creed fragrances I’ve tested. Unfortunately this is not cheap and also I advise not to blind buy it either. But I like Love In Black.
Update: I sprayed this on my hair today and 12 hours later I can still smell it!! Other perfumes I’ve tried on my hair didn’t last longer than 3 hours but this one went the distance.

A very floral, powdery scent. I was expecting to be amazed by iris and violet, but somehow rose is soooo strong that makes this fragrance smell like some sexy lady would wear at night with a sexy dress LOL. This one still smells gorgeous but definitely not my type. I’m glad that I bought a sample before actually gifting it to someone.
P.S. Black currant&Rose smell like soy milk LOL.

VIOLETS! I agree with Tommy_girl! It is a love or hate relationship with Creed but this one for me is just heaven. I adore Violets in fragrances and this one is immaculate in it’s creation. It’s for a strong opinionated woman but not an overbearing one. It’s a confident woman with a playful side. I love it, It’s one of my signature scents and I also layer it with Virgin Island Water if I want to knock off the sweetness.

This one is weird. At first it smelled like violet medicine. Now it smells like sticky grape violet candy. I like it but don’t want to own it. I can’t imagine a time when I would want to smell like this. I have a sample vial.

I’ve sampled this today, and will say that, in addition to this being a lovely fragrance with superb performance, I also feel like a six-foot, drunken grape on steroids.

I know that this perfume is not very popular among creed fragrances, but I really enjoy wearing it and this is despite the fact that for me creed perfumes are a love or hate matter. For example as much as I can’t tolerate love in white, I admire love in black, even though it should’ve been named love in violet.
To me love in black is a perfect combination of violet and iris. It has the same vibes of insolence and violet blonde, but is less powdery than insolence and rosier than violet blonde. So if you like violets you can’t go wrong with this one, no matter how many people complain about its immature blend or high price. As the matter of fact, violet blond which smells similar to love in black is not that cheap either!
I appreciate the mysterious, strong femininity feeling that this perfume gives to me. It’s not super strong, but has enough project and long lasting power.

Sweet musky violet that is so sexy, mysterious and alluring.
The perfect date night and evening scent for a confident woman, who wants to smell absolutely gorgeous.
The violet and iris combo are heavenly together. Along with the cloves and musk the scent lingers on sweet, but doesn’t get too much at an point. I think it’s perfect.

This to me is one of the truest violet scents I’ve smelt in fragrances …that I’ve come accross of course !
It’s beautiful yet I find the story behind it slightly off putting and kinda spooky…
Otherwise I love the smooth, fruitiness and creaminess of this dew sparkled violet in a bottle!

When I first sprayed my sample of creed love in black I was immediately reminded of lancome peut-etre.they’re both all about iris on me but love in black isn’t as horrible as peut etre.I dislike them both
This type of iris makes me think of ink and I don’t know why.I think of a piece of plastic dipped in dark purple, almost blue-ish ink.bitter and chemical.it’s strong violet didn’t make it any better for me as I’m not a violet lover.I can tolerate it when it’s light and in a sweet blend but this was not the case here.still I was unshakable in my decision to give it time.
My patience was rewarded after about an hour.a berryish rose showed up so that it wasn’t just about chemical iris and violet anymore but what really saved it for me was musk.a super gorgeous musk with a delicate sweetness appeared like silver magical drops.it goes very well with iris-rose combo and my feelings change from an absolute dislike to an absolute like.I enjoy it for another hour or two but it doesn’t keep it’s beautiful musky florals as it dries down.it turns to an Iris-violet-cedar combo, very powdery, woody and serious in a classy and mature way.I don’t like it’s drydown as much as I like it’s middle phase but I also don’t dislike it as much as it’s initial phase.drydown is nice just not my type
If it was a linear scent, smelling like it’s middle phase all through it’s life I’d like it much more but now I removed it from my wantlist. longevity and sillage are both moderate and I see it as a mild weather fume

I went by some of the reviews and spent the money to get this fragrance, and I really wish I hadn’t!! I find that it is terrible! When you first apply it, it is very harsh and very chemical like and in your face. One gal described it as burning plastic…..I tend to agree. It really take a few hours for the scent to soften into anything soft and wearable. After a few hours it does soften to a creamy violet, with a waxy iris. I do not detect much of any other notes other than the black current which sours it a bit at the end. I had such high hopes for this one. Maybe it’s my body chemistry as well. I just wish that it worked out for me because of the money I invested in it. 🙁

To me this is a very beautiful fragrance. Powdery, mysterious and warm. Very much a night time spring or fall fragrance for me.
It opens up with a strong violet and after that powdery iris and musk. This is indeed a very powedry scent,so if that is not your thing you’d better avoid this one. The dry down is quite spicy and Woody on me, but the violet and iris are still there in the background.
Longevity is pretty good,as it should be for a fragrance in this price range. The Classic Creed bottle in black is also stunning and a true gem for the dresser.

This is too sweet for me. It’s in the same family as Ombre Mercure and Opus III but it’s the super sugary version of those. Also, the clove is very prominent. It’s basically candied violets and currant with too much clove. I love Ombre Mercure for a sophisticated and soothing violet and Insolence EDP for a candied violet bomb. The sugared currant and powdery violet and spicy clove combo in this makes me feel a little sick sometimes.

On me, this smells like V8 carrot juice- which I love! I also got so many random compliments from friends and strangers alike, only on my first day of testing!
I do confess I found it a bit wierd at first but it becomes oh so lovely as it warms up – beautiful, velvety rich blackcurrants and candied violets! Just lovely. I really hope I get a full bottle of this soon. (But alas, the price really is horrific especially here, where I live 🙁
longevity is wonderful too – at least 10 hours solid.

I am not a fan of Creed perfumes. Even though they smell lovely, they are not complex enough for my taste or their price.
However, Love in Black is a beautiful perfume. For me, this fragrance is all about the violets (which I LOVE). I can smell them from the very beginning till the end (it lasts around 12 hours) on my skin. Violet here is just gorgeous. I can detect some black currant, and it uplifts the fragrance in a fresh and just a bit sour way that goes well with the rest of composition. In this perfume Iris doesn’t smell like a baby powder (that’s what I usually get with iris) but a lovely, kind of weird combination of bread dough and gentle, sweet powdery note that complements the violet note very well. I can’t detect any cloves on my skin. In a dry down, I get a nice woody musk and violets. This perfume projects well for the first hour or two and goes into moderate sillage for much more hours.

  21. :

This is georgeous! Alot of people compare this to insolence, and like the reviewer below me, i agree this is not comparable to insolence. Insolence didn’t work on me, it smelled like grape skittles and was close to the skin. But creed love in black smells like real wood violets! It’s very waxy, lipstick scent. I can actually feel the wax, smell the wax lipstick , it’s amazing! It doesn’t fade into vanilla like lipstick on, it stays lipstick all the way to the end, a little cedar note comes out at the end. Beautiful! Long lasting! Sillage is 3ft. And stays 3ft for about an hour before remaining at an arms length sillage for a good 5 hours and gradually gets closer to the skin. This is a sexy lipstick scent! How many times did i say lipstick in this review, lol:)
I forgot to mention that some people say they smell a synthetic plastic smell, i think it’s the way their nose interprets the wax note in here. Without the wax note or would not be a true lipstick scent and would smell more candyish

This begins with violet, iris and musk for the first couple of hours, then I begin to get some black currant, cedar and cloves. Love in Black is beautiful, elegant & sincere, she carries the inner strength of a warrior with bellows of darkness and melancholy.

I’m really loving this stuff!! I tried it a few years back & wasn’t impressed. I was out @ neiman’s looking for a new scent & decided to give this another try, since I know my tastes change every few years. This is why I have so many perfumes & I’m always looking for something new. I was very surprised a lot of people love the beginning, with the sweet violets & don’t care for the dry down? To me the dry down is the best part, it has enough of the sweet violets & it adds a twist of ingredients ( it must be the black currents & musk? Maybe)that give it a suede/ leather type of smell & it’s so beautiful!! Another thing I love about this is that, it actually lasts!! Yay!! Thank you, Creed!!

got the sample of “Love in White” and “Love in Black”
Love in Black is the night time counterpart of love in white giving a thicker floral/berry tone while preserving its freshness
upon testing LIB I was surprised by how much richer and dense it is compared to its sibling LIW… notes that stick out are: Violet, Iris, black currant, & rose. the opening of LIB is a dual accord of fuzzy warm bubble bath violet flowers & cosmetic iris… the two are backed by black currant which adds a jammy berry note in the mix that in all honesty can be too much if over applied… after a few minutes rose creeps in and lightens the heaviness of the opening, the fragrance then settles to a luxurious bubble bath scent that reminds me of my mom cause she used bath salts that smelled very similar to this
this is such a warm, fresh, just beautiful scent… like sitting in the tub and the aromas plus the heat from the water create this thick fragrant cloud of luxury as the water caresses and relaxes your body..
Love in White is the shower you take in the morning and Love in Black is the bath you take at night

I’m going to have to agree with below…
At first it was a nice violet candy smell then it quickly turned into straight up plastic.
Not the “good” kind either, you know that baby soothing Barbie doll smell not that.
I imagine this is what a synthetic person would smell like (android) lol.

I am crazy about violet scents, and I have tried many. Love in Black has such a lovely opening– the violet is green and gorgeous. Unfortunately, that opening morphed into a kind of rubber scent, which then became a dead ringer for Bvlgari Pour Femme. I actually compared them– one on each arm and they are remarkably similar. It is not a bad blend at all, but I wanted more Violet. Also both scents are too clean, white musk-y for me.

I love Creed fragrances and this one is just gorgeous. It is violet powdery, but not baby powder on me. After a while the violet dies back a bit to allow a lovely musk through. This is boudoir powdery and so the name Love in Black fits beautifully. Nicely done as always and this is another beautiful Creed scent that you can smell if you are close to me and it doesn’t smack you in the face when you are 6ft away.

powdered violets on a vanilla cake sitting on top of a cedar table. you slice open the cake and a cloud of baby powder smacks you in the face. ten minutes later the whole ordeal is over.

Yes, this is a strange fragrance. It’s sweet, it’s Parma violets. It’s unapologetic in it’s crazy saccharine bubble. But it’s unique, and warm and one of a kind. I wore it for a while a couple of years ago and then went off it and sold my half full bottle. Recently though, I’ve had a craving for it, I don’t know why, but it’s been a definite itch I’ve needed to scratch. My husband kindly bought me a new bottle today and my appetite is sated. I know I will only reach for this twice, maybe three times, in a year, but I’m glad it’s back in my collection. It’s juicy, spicy, brave and bold and some days that’s exactly what I want to be. Fun.

  34. :

The name made me think I’d be getting a sultry, seductive violet wrapped in some naughty spices. What I actually got was an hour of plastic and pencil shavings followed by another hour of a perfectly nice, inoffensive floral.
This is a disappointment to me. I can’t see how it can possibly be worth the money it costs.
The dry down is much nicer than the opening, but I had to resist scrubbing to get to it. I don’t know what is causing the plastic smell, but combined with the pencil shavings, it gives me the strongest impression of a classroom.
When I do get the other notes coming through, they are quite pleasant. Violet is noticeable, as is blackcurrant. I don’t get the clove. The violet is very sweet and the blackcurrant is very well done.
The sillage is very soft and I found this only lasted just over 3 hours.

Parma violet sweets & nothing else. I wated for the dry down to change scent but no, it’s just Parma violets until you wash it off. for the price I’m extremely disappointed in this.

On me, this is extremely dry. It actually makes me thirsty, as in, I want to freaking drink a glass of water everytime I catch a whiff of it.
After some time, it smells like I am sniffing sawdust remnants from a pencil sharpener after using it on a very dry and old pencil.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

I absolutely adore Love In Black’s opaque bottle design and black packaging so I had my fingers and toes crossed that I would eventually fall head over heels for the scent also. I do love the smell of violets and I own many violet scents including Fragonard’s Violette, Tom Ford’s Violet Blonde and Jean Charles Brosseau’s Violette Menthe. I was almost convinced that Love In Black would be my violet holy grail.
Love In Black is a beautiful, elegant and somewhat powdery representation of violet. It is ever so slightly edgy in its approach, but for the most part it is a classic English floral.
There is a tendency for perfumers to add a sugary note to violet perfumes as a way of appealing to the masses. Thankfully that sugary-sweet aroma is absent in Love In Black’s scent pyramid. The result is a sometimes masculine, unforgiving blend of rich blackcurrant, earthy iris and powdery violets.
Like Sherapop, I really enjoyed Love In Black’s opening. I was quite enamoured with its boldness and classic femininity. Unfortunately Love In Black tends to lose momentum as the fragrance develops on the skin. It goes from being a strong, powdery violet and iris blend, to a musky, delicate and oddly sour blackcurrant and cedar blend.
If Love In Black were more affordable I would have definitely bought myself a bottle, however due to Creed’s somewhat extreme prices, I have to be realistic. I find Love In Black incredibly similar to my much more affordable bottle of Fragonard’s Violette. I also don’t find it as intriguing as the wild Stephen Jones, commissioned by Comme des Garcons. It’s more than pleasant, even attractive on the skin, but Love In Black is just not for me, nor right for my collection.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

This one looked all right for me and I was even mentally prepared to fall in love with something so expensive. Luckily for my wallet, however, the black currant and very powdery violet just combine to smell of violet sweeties: dusty and sugary. And… that’s it.
I kept sniffing away – can I detect the cedar and clove? Is there a musky drydown developing? And how about the naughty leather note others have reported? Not on me, to my great disappointment.
So, on me this is a linear fragrance that smells of sweeties. If it works for you and you get more complexity and a better range of notes, that’s great, and frankly, I’m pretty envious. But I strongly suggest anyone try this before buying as it could be an expensive disappointment.
Good if: your skin plays up the different notes.

Love the name! Love the bottle! I wish it wasn’t so similar smelling to l’erbolario accordo viola, which to me is an excellent quality powdery violet at a fraction of the cost!

Ok. Honestly most of my recent purchases have been blind, thanks to Fragrantica. So with confidence I bought my first Creed, in a place where they had no tester, anxious to get home and spritz my wrist. At first spray it smell like París YSL, but only a few moments. Then, it borns another face, more deep and dark,it remind me a little to TF black orchid and a sweet whistle of Fleurs d’ombre violette and menthe by JCB. It’s strange, so i like it. Sweet, with some of fruit, but not girly, this perfume is misterious, sexy and elegant, all in one.If you want feel yourself like a new woman, different, and make turn the heads to you, you must buy it. Is true, is not a cheap fragrance, but it cost drop to drop , this price. Only for someone, with personality.
Sillage good, and very good lasting power. Best of all, I fell in love again! (Fingers up)

Very floral and powdery scent with a hint of sweetness from the currants.
LIB is a very rich and opulent floral fragrance.
This scent draws many compliments when I wear it but I don’t wear it that often nowadays a bit too floral for me anyway it’s anamazing fragrance suitable for the colder months.
If you love violet and iris give it a try also longevity is insane it lasts up to 10 hours on me. A bit pricey but you get your money’s worth

  43. :

well this was curious – a scent I had been wanting to try for some time but always overlooked when actually in the store faced with a wall of perfume – the black bottle not catching my attention besides the bright colours and packaging around it.
So today I sprayed some on my arm as I passed through town, and I was surprised – in the bottle this smelled of lovely violets. On my skin something weird happened. Digestives and hobnobs to be precise! For some reason every time I brought my arm near my nose it smelled just like I had rubbed biscuits on my arm! Oh yes I could smell some faint violet beneath, but overwhelmingly I got biscuits. How bizarre. I asked 2 other ladies who were browsing what they thought, one said “ooh parma violet sweets”, the other said “is that bisucits?”! So it wasn’t just me.
Anyway after about half an hour this settled into a sort of dirty sweaty scent, possibly the cloves which can do this on me. Longevity reasonable, a faint trace of violet id discernible after 8 hours, but for me this was a strange experience and not one worth £99 for 30ml!

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Woody, dark, wet violets – a forest nymph, both serious and seductive, wild and reserved.
I just love to drown my nose into my wrists while wearing this scent. I don’t get much rose, fruit or even iris, but an amazing combination of violets and deep green moss, excellent woody notes.
I fell in love with this scent and, for me, it’s well worth its price.
It’s both exciting and comforting, suitable for every day or for an elegant evening.
A true candidate for my signature scent.
Longevity is moderate to good and sillage moderate.

This beauty put me right back on to the Violet cravings
First when applied i was a bit hesitent , it was bold and strong, a bit dry almost and mysterious.
But after wearing it and getting to know it on my skin this realy is a beauty.
The Violet is damp and dark Its like a clearing in he woods filled with Dark purple Violets . The damp earth and moss give it a crisp freshness , I can feal the Blaccurrant and it adds to this a fruityness and also a dryness . how can they be mixed he he , The Rose and musk also pretty bright and Pink adds to the Violet a Romantic and flirty feal. Reminds me a slight bit of Paris YSL .
Cedarwood gets more prominet in the ending . I cant say i feal the Cloves much
I realy realy like this , a blind buy gone realy well .
(I can not realy relate to the comparising of Insolence and Jesus Del pozo In black, )

I am a huge violet fan, and i’ve been wanting to try this ever since it was recomended to me last year. I’d never heard of Creed, as it’s not sold anywhere in the Highlands or in my city so whilst i was in Edinburgh for a meeting (3 & 1/2 hour journey away from here) i tried this in Jenners and i’m sad to say that i’m extremely underwhelmed 🙁
I got the ‘sweaty socks’ that others further down talk about, and no longeviry. Not worth the price tag.
If you love violet, try Lush’s ‘Tuca Tuca’ – THE BEST VIOLET i’ve ever come across!

This scent is my absolute favorite, and my signature scent.
It is sophisticated, a backless black velvet gown feeling. For a floriental, the scent is quite fresh. It is cool and sweet, then turns into something warm and luscious, not too sweet, but still yummy. The violet is noticeable to me initially and during dry-down, which thrills me. The iris is in harmony with the violet and makes it even more gorgeous. The spice adds complexity, the cedar is fresh and grounds the fragrance, and is quite lovely.
    Sillage is perfect.
Mellyhelly is correct, I’m a warrior-woman and LOVE it. 🙂
Aeternitas, you’ve nailed it! Make no mistake all, these fragrances are NOTHING alike. As black and white, so are Love in Black and Love in White.
If you have an affinity for violets, you simply must try.

    A VIOLET ORIENTAL
    My Favoriten Creed.
Violet, roses and iris , very nice composition. Indeed extremely similar to insolence and lipstick rose . Insolence being more on the younger and sweeter fruitier side and LOVE IN BLACK more grown up and earthy. (Lipstick rose being more powdery aldehydic .)
I like the ceader and cloves in here as well as the blackberries. Violets and irises are strong in the opening and the rose seems to be more in the dry down. The dry down is my favourite part, so fresh and slightly sweeter than the opening , this is when you can smell the blackberries and the rose the most. I own lipstick rose and when I wear Love in Black I constantly think of Lipstick Rose. Its a lady like perfume , very purple and feminine. Like most violet Perfumes LiB is not everyone’s choice as violets are something people relate to the past. Which perhaps is what I love about it. The musk in here is clean. I just ordered a 75 ml bottle. Can’t wait. This to me is an all around suitable choice for winter and summer , day and night. Love it.
Completely agree with the review by Lust87 its a sweet cosmetic elegant violet powder with black currant. So charming !
Update ; MISIA is out now which is very much in the same category. Misia being softer and more powdery and less spicy , like a younger sister or more tame lady. Love in Black is very similar yet louder !

I suppose Love in Black is one of my favorite violet fragrances. I consider this perfume as pure class, sophistication and gentle feminity. In my opinion it’s not an unisex at all.
Love in Black has lovely vintage twist which makes this perfume even more lovely and unusual – it’s not weird, the inspiration for this perfume was Jacqueline Kennedy.
The opening can be a bit sharp, dry and earthy, because of quite strong cedar note mixed with raw violet, but it turns quickly into sweet, cosmetic, elegant powder, where the main roles play violet, warm iris and sweet, glamourous black currant. Honestly i didn’t expect that mixing together powdery flowers and sweet, thick black currant juice can be so charming.
The drydown is enriched with soft, feminine musk, which makes Love in Black more powdery, elegant and gentle.
Longevity is really good, it stays on my skin about 7 – 8 hours, sillage is moderate, it’s not a killer.

I like to return to this scent on autumn.
It smells then so as all left to us the summer: sweet sappy fruit, trees warmed with sun, fully developed flowers !
    I love this!

I don’t care for this one. Based on the notes pyramid this is a fragrance I should love, but something just isn’t working. I get a strong “uncooked spinach-and-whole-wheat spaghetti” smell with a hint of dried berries. This is a unisex fragrance. Sillage is moderate. This was a bit of a disappointment after smelling “In White,” which I like much better. I don’t know if this is an issue with the fragrance or with my chemistry, but it’s safe to say that I won’t be buying a bottle of this.

This is pretty, but essentially boring. It is just nice, overly simple and nothing special.

I’m drawn to two types of fragrances, those that are light and airy- similar to Eau du Ciel – and those that are heavy, earthy, and grounding. Creed’s Love in Black resonates with the later, and is definitely a great example of a fragrance that has a very earthy, woodsy-type smell to it.
The notes in this are cedar, woodsy, and have a slight hint of musk. Personally, I love the way that this smells. It is very warm and inviting – and grounding. I feel that this would be a good “business” fragrance for women – and has a strong enough base note to it where it could be worn as a unisex fragrance – very easily.
I feel like Creed may get a bad rap in their reviews based on the fact that they are so well known for their expensive perfumes. But sometimes fragrances rise to the occasion – and become worth every penny that you invest in them. Creed in Black – is turning out to be well worth it. I’m trying a small sample of this to evaluate this based on someone’s recommendation – and I’m already wishing I had ordered a larger sample size! This stuff is GOOD. I really like the way that this is setting up on my skin!

Creed’s Love in Black is sexy with a bolder note of musk and cedar. I actually LOVE the way that this is setting up on my skin. The first 20 – 30 minutes, I was neutral on this fragrance, but 30 minutes into this… this is HOT! This fragrance has an ooooh la la type presence to it that I’m really liking. This is another fragrance that resonates with a lower alto – or higher tenor range. I feel that this is in that range that a lot of men like. It could be worn as a unisex fragrance for that matter. It is a really good fragrance!
There is something in this fragrance that reminds me of some of the oriental notes found in fragrances like Mitsouko Guerlain for women – which seems to be a lighter version of Youth Dew by Estee Lauder.

I’m sampling a small size of the Creed “Love in Black” and “Love in White” to see how these wear on my skin. These fragrances are very different and I wouldn’t even put them in the same collection, if they were not named Black and White in the Creed “Love” line. I’m also trying a sample of Bvlgari BLV Notte – which is definitely in the same family with the Creed Love in Black. Creed Love in Black and Bvlgari BLV Notte seem to be “sister fragrances” – or at least fruits from the same tree. I feel that they could be worn as a collective “signature fragrance”. You could wear the Bvlgari BLV Notte for a lighter day time fragrance and wear Creed Love in Black for a heavier winter or evening fragrance.
I think people who are drawn to Angel by Thierry Mugler – may really like these 2 fragrances. They are definitely all in the same family of fragrances! Jo Malone’s Black Vetiver Cafe fragrance resonates in this same family too.

Love in Black compared to Love in White – both by Creed:
By far, Love in Black is wearing much stronger and has better strength and silage than Love in White. Both transition
