Description

Lush launches limited fragrances for winter season 2014/2015 under the Lush Kitchen collection: Yog Nog, Comforter, Celebrate, Jungle and Lord of Misrule.

Lord of Misrule: “This tribute to mischievous winter revelry is sweet and spicy, but rich in pagan undertones. Indulgent vanilla meets fiery black pepper to transport you to the midst of a forest party, where foolishness rules and polite society unravels for one dark night. A deep, patchouli perfume that evokes the naughty festivities of ancient winters.”

It is available in bottles of 30 ml.

This is one of the best fragrances from Lush. The phrase, “Hippie in a bakery,” comes to mind whenever I smell it. It is very much a full-on patchouli vanilla scent, which means it smells spicy and creamy at the same time. It’s easy to see why Lush releases this during Halloween. It’s very much a perfect scent to wear during the Fall and Winter. I would also agree that it’s a good unisex fragrance.
The thing about Lush fragrances is that I don’t think they transform very much once you apply them. You get all of the notes at once immediately and it stays that way throughout the entire duration of wearing it. Your initial smell is basically what you get.

I have the teeniest amount in a 30ml bottle which I dare not use and just keep putting its lovely syrupy sweet patchouli smell up to my greedy little nose which can’t get enough of this juice! A bottle of this sold for £78 recently on UK ebay which is well over what I can afford. I wish Lush would just bring it back – I stalk the kitchen on their website in vain hope.. waahh!

This is a great winter scent. Spicy with the patchouli warming up the vanilla. I get the bath bombs whenever they come out. Very unisex.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lush LoM. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to try the actual fragrance.
I stayed up until 2 AM my time to order from Lush’s UK site, which, btw cannot EVER handle the website traffic during one of their BOGO or other promotions. It took me TWO HOURS to successfully order 1 bottle. Conveniently they don’t offer LoM in the States AND they only offer it from the Lush Kitchen with VERY limited quantity made. IMO its all a marketing ploy, but that’s a Lush soapbox, for another time.
So yeah, after the early morning hours of frustration spent on their crappy website and the amount of money to get it here, (over $40 for shipping) you must know I really wanted it. I mean I REALLY wanted it!
Sadly I never received my shipment. After 2 months and numerous emails, Lush FINALLY refunded the full amount.
All that being said… if anyone has a bottle here in the States, maybe we can make a trade or possibly a sale?

This has really grown on me. I got a solid of this for me and my sister and it smells fantastic on her. I actually much prefer it on her, rather than myself. The vanilla in this doesn’t bother me at all. The patchouli is rather sharp, but it’s a perfect balance to cut the sweetness of the vanilla…and the pepper just makes it super comfy and warm. Great scent. Not for me, really, since I’m the nice sister and she’s the naughty one!

Pepper and patchouli are the stars, just sweetened up by vanilla. Very wearable, a snuggly scent – like a Christmas sweater, spiked hot cider in hand. I always get compliments in this and inquiries about getting their hands on some.
Longevity and silage are moderately high, my idea of perfect.

I LOOOOVVVEEE this perfume! (Btw I HATE Black Pearl so I don’t think they have anything in common) This is the patchouli that I have been waiting for from LUSH. I despise Karma perfume and I think it’s the worst patchouli scent I’ve ever smelled, but this is HEAVEN. This is sweet, spicy, thick, rich, and a bit powdery. I absolutely love that they used the same vanilla as Tuca Tuca, because I really love and miss that scent, and I get a nice whiff of the same underlying vanilla when I smell this. It makes me nostalgic. The patchouli is refined but still has that touch of dirt which makes it so sensual. I can’t say the perfume lasts all day or anything, but none of Lush’s scents do, unfortunately. When I spray this on my skin and clothes though, I get pretty good longevity. Sillage is soft to moderate. I could wear this every day if it wasn’t limited edition! Grrrr!
P.S. They must have fixed the “less than full” issue because I have one of the newer square bottles (not the rectangular one) and it came totally full.

Smells very alike the Lord of Misrule shower cream, ie warm, comfortable, softly sweet and somehow familiar even on first sniff.
This has a lovely lived in feel. Not dirty or animalic in any way, just, well, comfortable and lived in, like a pair of soft leather boots. It is a little hard to explain what I mean, but although it is obviously a perfume, and is not a shrinking violet perfume either, it seems to feel “right”, like it becomes part of your personal scent for the day rather than a perfume you are wearing. Maybe it is because I have used the shower cream and so am used to the smell? I don’t know what it is about it but it just works so well. I have found some Lush fragrances slightly jarring, something in them (the carrier maybe?) that sits not quite right. Over the years and the various scents and collections they have released they seem to have steadily improved.
Only the 3 notes listed, but they play so well together. Slightly sweet, though not in the least sickly and vanilla doesn’t stand out as vanilla-y itself, it shouldn’t offend vanilla-phobes. It feels warm, a little earthy, round, jade green, it is really rather lovely and I am glad I got a bottle from the “lush kitchen” online.
Incidentally this evening after wearing LoM today, I put on my pyjamas from yesterday evening when I wore Lubin’s Nuit de Longchamp. The 2 perfumes mingled together surprisingly well, so I decided to apply a little of each together – a half spray of both onto my chest. The result is magnificent! It smells reminiscent of middle eastern and south asian perfumes I have smelled. Where I live is a very culturally diverse area, and I have often enjoyed the perfumes that I have smelled wafting from people from certain backgrounds because they smell so rich and compelling and totally different to the traditional western fragrances. This has that feel but without any medicinal oud or bitter elements. Just big, warm, soft, puffy, sweetened resinous powdery loveliness. Seriously, if you are into layering your perfumes I highly recommend you give this mix a try. I will definitely be wearing these together again, and will probably experiment with some other layering and combining with this LoM.

One of my favorites by Lush. If you are familiar with Black Pearl from around 5 years ago, you would also enjoy this. Spicy-patchouli-incense blend that dries down to a lovely, earthy sweetness. It’s a warm scent, and about an hour after application, it’s vaguely reminiscent of a men’s cologne. It then transforms into a sweetly spicy scent that lasts for quite a while. It’s not listed, but I think there may be a touch of frankincense in it– that note seems to come forward in the dry down as well, replacing the patchouli introduction. It’s very nicely balanced/blended, so no one note in particular ever blatantly jumps out. Rather hints of scents emerge and recede whilst also maintaining a unique whole. If this were music, it would be jazz, if it were a color, it would be deep, translucent gold. Very glad I purchased a bottle! Only drawback is it’s a special edition that I must purchase from the UK. Unlike other reviewers, my bottle was full. However, quality control for them really can be hit or miss. With mail order, sometimes a perfume will be strong, and then the next order seems significantly less so. It always feels like a bit of a gamble. Glad this one was a winner!

Absolutly! I have only recieved 1 of 5 orders that hve actually been correctly filled on-line as well. After waiting 4-6 weeks for an order that is incorrect its very disappointing. Then all they offer is a refund! Come on. Customer service, not being able to fill and order, cost and getting half full containers upon purchase will ruin this “caring” company. Bottom line is the bottom dollar once again for a company I wanted to make a staple. Sadly I am diso tinning use of their product.

A great scent … if only Lush did not play with its cusomers selling them less than 30 ml in a 30 ml bottles… such a sad story. The scent is unbelievable but if you get it from ebay remember you will never really get 30ml.
