Some sort of light lemon cake with a hint of chocolate , its ok i’d like it more if it was a little more potent frankly.

I really can’t agree with all the overly praising reviews on this one. Sure, it is well blended and not too cloyingly sweet. But still. It smells vanilla-cinnamon buns with citrus sorbet. This is as gourmand as anything can get, and although I really love my gourmands this one just doesn’t do the trick for me.
The opening is a really soft caramel vanilla. The caramel is what reminds me of buns rather than ice cream is anything else vanilla-edible. The caramel makes it softer than a lot of other gourmands with vanilla. To my taste that’s not positive though, since I like my vanilla more boozy. But the caramel is absolutely nicer than average and less cloying. Nonetheless it gives a bit of a girlish vibe.
The citrus is gorgeous. A soft but amazingly fresh citrus. It doesn’t blend with the vanilla-caramel but rather exists on a parallel level. As it would be eating buns and sorbet. Works well together but doesn’t mix to something new.
Projection is huge on me, with only one small spray. Longevity very good, lasts some eight hours or more.
It doesn’t transform much during wearing, the citrus fades, the vanilla-caramel becomes a little bit less girly-gourmandish and a hint of flowers wafts by in the periphery at the last of the drydown.
Nice, kind of ‘meh’ and not even close as astonishing as I had expected from all the reviews. Not price worthy, or fb-worthy in my opinion.
But well… it’s an easy-to-like-scent and I totally understand why so many love it. Just not my cup of tea.

I am in love with this fragrance. My favorite notes of vanilla, caramel and almond blended so well together I want to eat this scent. It is a gourmand fragrance but it is still more complex than all other gourmands I have tried.
Great longevity- my husband smelled it on me after wearing it for 8 hours at work (I applied only once in the morning) as soon as I entered the door. He said the smell makes him happy

This is my new fall signature scent. I love the way that it smells. It reminds me of a few others but goes through different stages, first its sweet citrus, then soft and delicious, then ends in a scent that reminds me of Aerin tangier vanille. I do love it for fall, I just wish it would have better protection. It lasts maybe 4-6 hours but you have to hold your wrist up to your nose to smell it. I will continue to wear, but am still looking for the “one”

This is the most beautiful vanilla/caramel I’ve ever tried. It lasts for ages on my skin, and makes me feel so comforted and cozy, perfect scent for autumn under a nice warm sweater 🙂 In my top 3 perfumes ever!

Typically gourmonds are not my cup of tea in the slightest, but as you can guess, with Lira this general rule does not hold. Part of this might be the floral content that keeps the vanilla and caramel from becoming too overpowering, but an even stronger part is the blood orange, bergamot and spices utilized here – the citruses used here, while certainly being mouthwatering, are far more tart and crisp than sugary.
Make no mistake though, the vanilla and caramel are quite sweet, but it is a natural aroma of sweetness, rather than one which has had incredulous amounts of thin, watery sugar displaced over the top of them as is often the case with sweetened perfumes. Indeed, the spices (primarily licorice and cinnamon) as well as the florals (lavender, jasmine, rose) as well as a soft white musk play off the wonderfully rich depth that the caramel and vanilla have, thus making them impossible to compare to the notes that often abuse the user so as to make up for the lack of quality in many more familiar fragrances. In fact, the vanilla is described by Xerjoff as being a ‘woody vanilla’ which to me translates to an Oak-bourbon vanilla that fits more in the category of SDV than something like Molinard Vanille, with it’s intensely sugary aroma.
The cinnamon is quite strong here as well, although not in typical fashion – I would not expect, wearing this scent, for many to state that I smelled of cinnamon, unless in reaching for a sweet spice they grasp its name out of the air. The cinnamon here comes off as if a freshly baked cinnamon loaf of bread – it is caramelized and crisp.
The blood orange is ripe, and stays throughout the duration of the fragrance, amplified I’m sure by some synthetic character or another, but truly its combination with the vanilla, caramel and cinnamon makes for the most pleasant gourmond aroma I have come across thus far.

On my skin the orange is fleeting but I’m not complaining at all because Lira is just divine. I love this type of gourmand which is sweet without smelling juvenile or cloying- with light application this clings to my skin like a hug. The issue that I do have is with the price since I don’t particularly find Lira to be complex or even morph much at all once applied. The caramel note is a true one and I adore the musky gently spiced drydown but I suspect you could find similar in another bottle or reproduce a close match with clever layering.

Does anyone else think this smells a little bit like Flowerbomb? To me it smells like a cross between Flowerbomb (minus all that sweetness) and Lolita L, but I love it much more than either of those! Top 6 for me right now 🙂

Xerjoff Lira is immediately sweet and caramel-dominant from the opening onward, making it delicious and almost alluring at the same time throughout its life.
The caramel is colored by various citruses, florals, and spices, which add character and depth. The citrus remains pretty strong throughout, which creates a similar result to Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene, predominantly a caramel/lemon pairing. Lira seems a little more complicated but it’s difficult not to make the comparison. Lira pivots more to vanilla and musk, as well, in the dry down, features absent from UP.
Lira boasts a strong projection and longevity, as well—a pleasing performer.
Lira retails for $290 for 100ml, $105 for 30ml at Luckyscent but I recall the 100ml size being available at Notino for under $200, though their website is currently down for maintenance.
Certainly this is one I’d consider buying if it weren’t so similar to Unknown Pleasures, though I certainly need to try both side by side.

Judging by these reviews, Lira seems to be almost universally loved. I hate to be the odd one out, especially since I usually like almost everything I try, but for me it’s just okay – and not okay at all for its price category. Although it’s probably a case of “it’s not you, it’s me”: as far as caramel scents go I think this is a good one, but I think it’s finally time for me to acccept that caramel just doesn’t work for me at all. However much I like the idea of it in theory, if this note is even close to dominant in a scent, it invariably ruins it for me. Lira is better than most in that the caramel doesn’t really go overly smoky on my skin, but still, it’s not great. And the combination with the citrus notes, however lovely I think it sounds, only makes matters worse: especially in the opening, the different accords clash rather sharply, and it makes for an unbalanced whole. The drydown is a lot better: the sharpness of both citrus and caramel settles down, and the vanilla comes in more strongly and adds more softness and smoothness. In this phase I do like Lira, although I’m still jealous of how much better it seems to be for other reviewers. Too bad it doesn’t work for me, but I guess I’ll just count my blessings and be glad I’m not adding another expensive perfume to my wish list today…

This is an amazing gourmand scent. Just so delicious. It actually makes my mouth water. It smells like chocolate covered cinnamon buns. When smelling it, you can tell it’s made by high quality ingredients. It has already received a lot of compliments from my husband. Amazing sillage and lasting power.

This is a mega gourmand cinnamon and vanilla scent. It’s not a sugary cupcake, but a loaf of cinnimon bread or cake. I do get some of that citrus in there, it rounds out the fragrance, hanging around on the edges. There’s a ping of pepper or something like that in there too. It’s got a spice to it.
I think this has the best caramel note I’ve ever smelled so far and caramel is a tough note for me to pick up. The scent is rich, balanced, doesn’t suffocate or smell ‘perfumey’. It’s a great spicy cinnamon vanilla and doesn’t pretend to be anything else. For the price though, I’ll just stick with my decant.

If you answer yes to these questions, this fragrance is for you. 1)Are you a gourmand lover? 2)Do you love SWEET fragrances? 3)Do you love caramel? 4)Do you love vanilla 5)Do you want BEAST MODE performance out of your fragrance? And finally, Are you willing to pay a pretty penny? This fragrance is a must in cool/cold weather, definitely not a summer frag and for this reason it’ll make it a worthwhile fragrance. The potency and limited use should make this one a part of your life for quite some time. This is most definitely amped up juice. Oh! And the bottle! This bottle is a real beauty as well as the box, very happy to display it in my collection.

Sweet, syrupy caramel and vanilla. I find Lira to be very seductive. Awesome performance in the cooler weather. One of the better vanilla fragrances out there right next to SDV and Feve Delicieuse.

Love at first sniff coming from someone who hates citrus scents. Lira opened with the juiciest orange, the kind of orange fruit that when you pierced the skin you know right away from the smell that it is going to be sweet. It smells round, if that makes sense. I really, really love the opening. Pls don’t get me wrong coz I love the rest too. The caramel doesn’t smell burnt unlike most of perfumes with caramel. The composition is really smooth imho. Licorice isn’t overly prominent to my nose but I know it is there. The drydown is so yummy with really fluffy vanilla and caramel as the most prominent notes with tinge of orange flavor (tart yet sweet too). Everything smells natural. .
moderate to heavy projection depending on number of sprays and the weather and very long lasting especially on hair and scarf.
Smelled from 75ml bottle of old packaging.

If Dries van Noten by Frederic Malle was my first introduction to – what I would dub – bakery-perfume (in this case a Swedish bakery – if ‘Hygge’ had a smell this could be it), Lira is a sweet Italian lemon crostata. While I really did like Dries van Noten, it was just a tad too spicy for me. Lira on the other hand was love at first whiff.
Mind bogglingly delicious, the tart element of citrus balances out the (admittedly) intense sweetness of the overall scent, this one is perfect for winter. Whenever I feel the weather is taking a turn for the worst – grey, rainy and depressing – I whip this one out and am transported to a happier, cosier and warmer place.

Mmm…mmmm…this smells delicious! Another wonderful caramel scent to add to my lovelies! Yes, it’s a sweet gourmand, but it’s refined at the same time. It’s mostly caramel and vanilla on me, so even though I don’t get much development, I don’t mind. It kinda reminds me of those caramel cream chews that you buy; that’s what this smells like. Is it worth the money? Well, that depends. If you’re a true gourmand lover and into niche, then yes. If not, you can get by with some other great caramel scents such as BonBon, Magnetism, Fancy or Prada Candy. I love caramel, and I own all of the above and this was an awesome addition. I seriously want to eat my arm when I wear it!
Lira is super easy to wear, especially if you’re into gourmands. Longevity on my skin is around 8 hours with moderate sillage. Super cozy and warm, it’s great for fall and winter, however, I couldn’t resist wearing it on an 85 degree summer day. Another great (and wallet breaking) purchase from Xerjoff.

You need bloody mortgage to buy a bottle of this but at least I’m seeing great performance and longevity. Is it worth it?
OMG! It’s likened to my beloved Tendre Madeleine which is the same price as Lira,
just remove a zero and then halve that ($20/100ml)!
    I’m sticking with Madeleine!

Wow. Exactly as described. That blood orange opening is fantastic but the drydown is impeccable. It’s like someone scraped a fresh vanilla bean, then grated just a bit of fresh cinnamon over it, mixed it with some honey, and bottled it. Exactly as a gourmand should smell. There is another note I detect yet I can’t describe. It pulls it all together and leaves a clean, fresh scent despite all the foodiness involved.
I really wanted to dislike this. I ordered samples, now all I can think about is getting my hands on a full bottle. So pricey, though.

    Quick story:
I ordered/recieved a sample about a year ago that was supposed to be Xerjoff 1888. LOVED it!! I couldn’t detect any notes listed for 1888 except maybe something flowery(carnation?), something citrusy(Neroli?) and something sweet(Patchouli?). I thought it was VERY nice, smooth and comforting BUT too “feminine” for me personally to wear out. I used the sample for home and sleep. I finally decided I didn’t care and bought a bottle. To my surprise, the bottle of 1888 smelled NOTHING like the sample. Spice, pepper, amber and slight sandalwood. My sample was mislabled but I happened to LOVE the real 1888 anyway.
Fast forward and I decide that all of the great reviews of Lira were enough to blindly buy a bottle. Purchase made and to my surprise, the 1888 labeled sample I had was actually LIRA!!!
This stuff is AMAZING and the compliments just keep coming when I wear it. I didn’t originally think caramel before but now I get it! I smell an awesome vanilla, lavendar, bergamot and jasmine lingering in the background with slight cinnamon. This stuff lasts at least 12 hours for me and feminine is the last thing I think when I smell it on myself…. Of course, it would also smell fantastic on a woman! 🙂

Lira is indeed similar to L by Lolita Lempicka, but she is L’s big sister who holds down a well-paying job (how else could one afford this juice). However, Lira can still party. Most gourmands feel too girlish for me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love a sweet olfactory treat, I just don’t feel very polished when wearing many gourmands. I feel more like I’ve been raiding the kitchen. But Lira is one of those special gourmands that is playful yet still demands a hefty amount of respect. And it really “hits the spot”, very rich and delicious. It is a big compliment getter for me too. This is a gourmand that will please both gourmandophiles and gourmandophobes alike. Very expensive but at least the price is reflected in the quality.

I do enjoy this one quite a bit. It smells like Unknown Pleasures minus the lemon note, replaced by a sweet airy orange note. There’s a Dominican drink called Morir Sonando that’s made up of orange juice, condensed milk, vanilla and brown sugar. If some caramel was added to this, this drink would taste how Lira smells.

    ★★★★★
Gorgeous!!! If you are a true vanilla scent lover you are going to love it.
Yes, It’s pure, it’s round and sensual. It reminds me of Farmacia SS. Annunziata Vaniglia del Managascar which is also a gorgeous pure vanilla fragrance.
Silage is strong on me and longevity is extraordinarily long, I’d say 10 hours plus.
I am in love! Now I know what I want for Christmas this year.

It was a long time that I loved xerjoff lira
Whenever I went to a perfume shop and saw it’s tester,I sprayed some on my wrist and turned to the happiest girl in the world.I never observed it’s notes,I just let it feel my heart with warmth.it smelt like a spicy orange cake and I felt it’s buttery and heavy on caramel
Finally my lovely hubby bought it for me.I couldn’t believe when I had it’s luxurious bottle and box in my hands
It’s not as buttery or caramelized as I remembered.it opens with a citrus blast.lots of sweet orange and a hint of lavender, then it becomes very powdery and spicy,I can detect lots of cinnamon powder and vanilla powder. Liquorice adds a very lovely twist to scent.kind of powdery bitterish, burnt liquorice thing that I die for it in pink sugar is present here too.dry down is warmer, sweeter with Musky caramelized vanilla, very soft and cozy
It’s definitely a fall, winter scent and a gourmand without being childish or syrupy sweet.it’s very similar to L de Lolita but that one doesn’t have the liquorice twist and it reaches drydown sooner
I love lira so much that it worthes every penny for me.it’s among my top ten and I can never think of living without it.it makes me so relaxed that I even wear it before sleep(although I feel kind of guilty because it’s pricy here,a 3.4 bottle is 200$ when it’s heavily discounted,it’s 300$ here when they sell it full price)
Longevity is great.it stays on my dry skin for more than 12 hours and I can smell it easily myself after hours
Xerjoff is one of my favorite niche brands.I’ve only tried lira, bouquet ideale, mefisto and granballo and I love all of them
    ❤❤❤❤❤

Lovely gourmand but with a twist and not cloying (Tendre Madeleine is incredibly sweet and has a cloying cinnamon touch compared to this one IMO. I don’t think it is a dead dupe for this scent sadly and I disagree with the price of Lira even though I love the scent and always spray it on me in the shops). I was hoping Tendre Madeleine would be a close enough dupe so I got it instead and I am disappointed.
    Back to LIRA:
The incredible thing in Lira is that while it is sweet the lavender, blood orange and hint of bergamot just break up the sweet vanilla/cinnamon mix with a touch of tuberose and tonka. It ends up being sweet, just a tad refreshing and a little floral herby. As well as changing with each hour in the dominance of each note it just does not want to make you gag (unlike Tendre Madeleine). I don’t smell a lot of florals in here or musk directly but something of the sort is underlying in there most definetly.
Here a recommendation for others who like me find Tendre Madeleine too cloying (super strong and too cinnamony to the point of gagging). Try mixing it with a citrus based scent or tester you may come across (I had Annick Goutal – Eau d’Hadrien lying around so I tried). It did help get it a lot closer to Lira and less cloying. In future I will add some lavender oil and maybe an orange oil and experiment a bit, after all TM is cheap and 100 ml. I don’t doubt it is possible to get it reasonably close to Lira with a bit of patience and effort. I would be interested to see if anyone else has come up with a similar concoction. If so please POST!

Agreeing that the similarities between this fragrance and L de Lolita Lempicka are remarkable. The latter has a slight curry/masala note from the addition of Immortelle. Lira is a bit rounder, sweeter, and smoother than L. L is a touch more floral in the drydown. The citrus and vanilla in both are strikingly similar. You can tell that the quality of Lira is higher from the strength of the scent and its longevity–it outlasts L by half.
If you have L de Lolita and want an upgrade, or dislike the curry spice note, I’d suggest Lira. If you already have Lira, there’s no need to get L de Lolita. You already have the upgraded model 🙂 In any case, you can still purchase L for around 60 dollars on eBay and I’d suggest it as a budget alternative if you’re saving your cash. For me, it’s worth it to own Lira!

People……..I HAVE to tell you to wait – patiently – for the drydown! O.M.G.! So delicious! I thought, initially, that it was a “how can they charge that much for such a “meh” scent?!?!” But a half hour later…..it is EXACTLY how they describe it! Anyone need a left kidney? lol JK

  33. :

I mean, it’s nice. I see the comparison to L de Lolita Lempicka but they are clearly different. A surprising amount of bergamot and lavender comes out on my skin, flanked by caramel, cinnamon and vanilla (in that order), not a lot of blood orange. Absolutely no liquorice. Pleasant, but for that price it would need to give me a nose-gasm. It doesn’t.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

I feel the opening is very similar to Tendre Madeiline and Panah Italian Citrus. Lira has strong caramel settlement which can be overwhelming in hot weather so careful there.
Most of the fragrance lover prefer Lira because of its opening and base however at this price points I think tenra and Italian citrus are amazing grabs.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

Fruity floral with spicy and gourmand candied notes. I rarely wear fragrances like that but this is a very grown up sweet scent. It has citrus and lavender at the first spritz. I do love lavender. The jasmine flower is the only other flower I detect. It also has licorice and sweet notes of vanilla and caramel. It smells very girly but at the same time very sophisticated. I don’t know what it is that makes this smell luxurious and elegant, like a caramelized version of a jasmine-Oriental perfume. It’s an evening perfume because it does smell way too formal. It makes me want to wear my hair up and wear black gowns. It’s luxurious, and although not mysterious, it has a bit of a “take me seriously” vibe, despite the licorice scent. Very nice perfume and the bottle is to die for. I don’t know if this is still selling. I would prefer that all my reviews were of fragrances that can still be bought in order to entice my readers into either testing out the fragrance or going out to buy it.

The word ‘overrated’ in itself seems ‘overrated’ in its use nowadays but if anything, this House fits this concept perfectly.
Yet somehow, it manages to have some of the Highest ratings on this site.
I mean, it’s all good as I’m happy that people are taking to appreciating the definite step-up Niches are. But it’s just I never understood Xerjoff lol.
The Quality is certainly there (mostly) but I feel is done at least as well or better by other Niche houses that charge much less.
Maybe it’s just Xerjoff’s ‘style’ but they seem to have a recurring theme of overdoing a certain note or accord that just doesn’t fit what I want.
Well, nevermind about the rant. Lira is an intoxicating Gourmand that does everything that good gourmands have done.
Vanilla, opulent and rich, sweet black-candy and amazing hints of spice bun.
But then it adds the ‘signature’ Xerjoff citrus (orange) and floral (lavender). Why an Ultra-niche Outfit like Xerjoff insist on sticking to these notes, I have no idea and with reference to my rant above I cannot find myself liking it because of those designer-y notes that you can really detect.
It’s just the nature of lavender I presume and Xerjoff seem to like theirs loud and powdery!
But I mainly think it’s the associations to the most popular designers (Lolita Lempicka) that really get people going and Xerjoff just have this thing of relating to the crowd very well.
Their credit but as of now, the only one of their scents I like is Mamluk. Not this one for sure.
I rarely praise bottle designs too but in this case, just wow. Totally fantastic, it’s a modern yet classic ornament in it’s own image, amazing!
    My rating: 5/10.
    Scent Quality: 9/10.

This smells a great deal like many others in the genre. It’s syrupy sweet, the caramel is strong. Very much a gourmand and it does this genre well, but it’s not the least bit unique and so, for the price, I suggest finding something else in the genre for a fraction of this absurd price. I mean no offense, but to me, the purchase of a fragrance such as this, at this price point actually seems a bit like ‘the emperor’s new clothes’.
ETA: I have now acquired a dupe oil version of this from Universal Perfumes for the price of $3 since I purchased a lot of 12 different scents. The likeness is good and for this price, I’ll very much enjoy wearing it. It’s projection strikes me as more persistent than the original and the scent a bit deeper on the honeyed front. Lovely and a great value besides. I may experiment with adding so perfumer’s alcohol to create an EDT.

Heard so much good about this, so I had to sniff it at the store..and oh my god. To my nose it was absolutely repulsive, and I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would want to smell like that. I was, unfortunately, really disgusted by it.

This is a masterpiece. I cannot exactly put into words the beauty and joy derived from smelling Lira. After spraying initially, I got a strong blast of spicy, yet musky licorice, lavender and blood orange, then it transforms into a strong, rich bergamot-vanilla and dries down to a sweet vanilla and caramel gourmand with a slightly boozy accord that manages to keep a dry composition. I like to blend it with Roxana’s Illuminated Perfumes Figure 10: Blanc (a gourmand Tahitian vanilla bean orchid accord), which is a beeswax solid and I put that on first, then spray Lira, for a fuller, richer composition. For me, it’s the perfect fall and winter fragrance. It exudes warmth, sensuality, and exquisite richness.

This is nice, but as others have noted, it smells just like L de Lolita Lempicka. Cinnamon orange buns, very syrupy, thick and Christmas-y type of scent. Evokes the color dark orange in my head. It is rich and decadent, with great longevity and sillage.
However.. my main complaint is the price. For this kind of money, I would just go with the Lempicka (although discontinued, it can still be found readily and fairly inexpensively on ebay.)

Lira reminds me a lot of L de Lolita Lempicka. Lira is a soft, cozy, warm vanilla with a touch of citrus to freshen it up, and avoid it to be too sweet and cake like. It is nice in its softness but since L de Lolita Lempicka has been one of my favorites for years (and I just recently tried Lira), I will stick with my much more affordable L de LL for now (which also comes in a beautiful bottle!). Also for that price, I think I expect something more interesting than “just” a warm, very likable cinnamon-vanilla cake (which to me doesn’t smell that much cinnamon even).

This fragrance reminds me extremely of an “insider” perfume called GOLDEN DUST (aka Alraml Al Dahabi) which is a big hotcake in the GCC and also in Iran…

Love this! I bought a set from Casamorati with 6 small bottles, where Lira is one of the best..
Sweet and yummi, with a gourmand vibe to it.

I received this as part of the December 2015 Olfactif sample set called Coming Home. All three fragrances featured vanilla. I like a good vanilla scent but this one ranked number three out of the three. The other two fragrances were Vanille from DSH and Black Flower Mexican Vanilla from Dame Perfumery Scottsdale. In comparing Lira to Vanille and Black flower, Lira seemed a much sweeter fragrance on me. Black Flower is described as a dry and boozy vanilla where as Lira was described as a caramelized, floral vanilla.
To me Lira seemed more like the fruit of the vanilla, ripe, raw and juicy, rather than the essence of vanilla. So these elements lend that impression of a more ‘wet’ or sweet fragrance. Top and middle to me offer that sweet vanilla and perhaps the blood orange.
Then, interestingly, after dry-down I get an effervescence of the floral notes, they are ever so slight and fleeting with the a caramel-vanilla base. A little rose, and perhaps a little jasmine and lavender.
The fragrance seems a very thick-sweet-syrupy type vanilla. This is coming from someone who prefers a more oaky, boozy, whisky-like vanilla.

    Oh… My… Word!!!
I know I have used the word ‘amazing’ many times before when describing a perfume… I just wanted to use it again for this ridiculously delicious Lira, but to be honest… amazing simply would not suffice to describe this masterpiece!
There’s just no word to describe this heavenly deliciousness!
Lira just made me about to delete any fragrance off of my want list, just to put on only Lira itself…
This is soooooo expensive,… but I soooooo want a bottle of it now, I mean… DANG!!! This smells awesome!
The absolutely most perfect blend of Caramel, Orange, Cinnamon and Vanilla I have ever encountered!
I can’t stop sniffing my wrist, it’s so addictive… I’m in love!! Yes! With a perfume! Am I ashamed? No freakin’ way!!!
It’s official now,… the niche market has got my motor running, a few more tastes of fragrances like this and I’ll be running out of fuel fast!
Oke,… I seriously got to clean out my want list… if y’all will excuse me, I’ll be back later to update on performance, thanks! :)<b
