I’ve been wanting to try this scent for a very long time! Thank you, tittertat, for the generous sample! At the very top, I get pear—is that for real?! It’s not listed in the notes. The frangipani is there, but the honey and freesia dominate on me, unfortunately, and I don’t care for either of these notes in perfumery in general. Overall, it’s pretty, and I like it, but it’s not a love and not FBW at this price. Longevity is GREAT! Lasted all day, but I did have to get pretty close to my skin to smell it, and it faded quickly from my hair, which is usually my longest scent-holder.

    How does Chanel do it?
    Such a formidable name
    “Beige” for this Perfume
    Soft. Polite. Addictive.
    Wearable. This is a bun
    or updo, glistening shiny
    hair. Prim. Proper. But
    HOT. Like a hot librarian
    trying to be professional.
    If Fracas is cobalt blue/
    black & white/hot pink,
    this is certainly beige,
    pastels, nudes, pretty
    neutrals, light grey but
    not white. touches of
    blacks, not much skin.
    Understated as Jicky
    without the mystery &
    not unisex, all Femme
    This is like Chantecaille’s
    Tiare, but with that sour
    note subdued. I am so
    surprised as to how I
    LOVE it. Now this has
    retired mY Tiare bottle
as it’s now up for swap

    Summer in 80’s
I dont what why and what it makes smells like that but summer in 80’’s in Europe (when you go for vacation to lakes or to pools)
It is happy, clean, soapy scent.

I didn’t like this one. Super disapointed! It was fine, not that it smelled bad or anything but it was just, meh. When I had it on it just wasn’t me!

Well, I love it!…. Yes, it’s appears a simple composition on paper but it has the CHANEL signature and is quite a beautiful warm perfume. In a nutshell – classy, elegant and sophisticated 🙂
    Sillage: 8/10
    Longevity: 8/10

    Three words: Boring, though beautiful.
The type of person who wears this is far from simple, but comes across as this just due to what they wear and how they act around people. All work during the day, likes to come and meditate and watch a bit of TV with their family. They’re middle class and comfortable. There’s stress, but Beige perfume (along with beige clothing, furniture and make up) probably help calm them all down.
The EDP is disgusting. The EDT is good if you go for this type of thing
7/10 = the definition of plain class, nothing more and nothing less. Far from average, but far from a timeless classic.

I don’t get any honey at all with this, which is why I bought it-I love honey scents. On me this is only a screeching floral bomb. Not many perfumes give me a headache but this one did.
The only Chanel so far that I can wear is Coromandel, which I love. I have tried lots, and will keep trying!

When I have to splurge it’s on Chanel. This is an expensive fragrance and it’s really quite lovely. It’s perfect for the summer time though it has some warmth and hot notes that make it very appropriate for winter. Opens with a floral note of peppery freesia, a spicy floral note, and some freshness that is chemical with a creaminess that reminds me of root beer foam. White floral notes consist of jasmine and honeysuckle not to mention frangipani which is the big note here. Smells of beautiful gardenia and tiare.
The honey gives the flowers a sweetness that reminds me of a perfume version of my Sun detergent Bahama Breeze. This would be a lot better if it had some fruit but it has a tropical air with that tiare white flower the same you can smell in Hawaii (plumeria). Reminds me of the moment you arrive in Hawaii and they give you the lais with the flowers around your neck. This is a sweet but mature scent. As it dries it becomes a powdery scent and I detect a little bit of vanilla some amber and some musk with some green touches probably vetiver. It’s not a long lasting scent and you think for a Chanel they’d make it with top middle and base notes. It’s on you long enough for you to enjoy it but I have to reapply a couple of hours later. This is great for beach parties to wear with maxi dresses and or halter top cocktail dresses. The smallest application is a sweet perfume powder.

I was eager to try this as it sounds like just my sort of ditty, I love rich florals, I love old fashioned scents, in general I love Chanel. Unfortunately, this fell flat for me. For all its promised notes, it opens with a tight, energetic ball of bitter soap that I find difficult to unpack beyond a vague suggestion of flowers. The ultimate impression that follows this observation is that Beige falls well short of exclusive, it smells common, just this side of dish washing liquid. Sweet or creamy are not adjectives I would use for its first act, instead this smells like it’s been washed clean of anything interesting. Once the most volatile compounds have shuffled off—this takes only a few minutes—it becomes slightly rounder, smoother but still nothing remarkable.
This is of course only my opinion and Beige clearly has many admirers, enough that I question my own sensibilities given that I’ve found so little to love where others have found plenty. And it’s not like their tastes are terribly out of line with mine, either, if their shelves are anything to go by. I’ll give it more opportunities. I’ve got four milliliters and an open mind. For now, though, I’m thinking this is a pass.

So versatile, so wearable, chanel beige lives up its name. Still, it is more interesting and complex than a flat beige. The sharp floral evolves into a softer white floral honey that wears long and strong. Perfect for a warm casual day but somehow also appropriate for a more formal occasion.

A very pretty white floral, fresh and lively. A happy summer scent that a lot of people around you will love.

It’s a beautiful floral. Lovely freesia especially, but also frangipani, and hawthorn is very nice, and sweet alluring bewitching honey…..I love it. It’s very feminine, and soft and pretty, but also sensual and womanly. I have received many many compliments wearing it, especially from males, and it lasts for 12 hours in a very soft and creamy way. I love it!

  16. :

Love it but not at first. At first it’s too strong, even though I put the smallest amount on. It has a powdery element which I can’t stand … but then it changes. I don’t know what the note is that rises to the top but it’s stunning. I’ve found that even though there are some Chanel fragrances that just aren’t what I would wear, they all have something masterfully done in each. Best fragrance house …. still.

I bought this expecting a tropical or powdery perfume, with the frangipani and honey, but to me this is all freesia. Soapy and young, fresh and shampoo like in the best way. I gave it to my girlfriend who loves it and wears it all the time. I think this is close family with Chance.

I reviewed Beige in 2013 but recently love it again so have to write more about it.
Beige to me is a fresh clean , sweet soapy smell like freshly washed long , still wet hair. Someone mentioned Johnston and Johnston baby shampoo , I think that is spot on except for it’s more than that ,it’s more fragrant and more sophisticated but it really does remind me of That shampoo and when I wore Beige the other day I had a handful of compliments. I had tugged it away for some time as I once asked my husbands opinion ,,,which was like most of the time ,,,non inthusiastic ,,, never ask a man of his opinion of a fragrance that you love. Men are all about moods and opinions. Once they smell something ON you they rarely hate it. ,,,
Beige is sweet , tropical musky and warm. It’s fresh and sunny to me , it’s clean and soapy ,,, like an amazing shampoo ,,,, it may have to move to the top shelf if I can make room.

This is one I have to disagree with almost everyone on. The sillage isn’t a bomb, but its a blast of sweet frangipani on me. It lasts a couple hours (that I can smell, I’m sure I get nose-blind after a bit as I do with most frgrances.) I can smell the freesia as well but mostly sweet-honey frangipani on my skin. I wear a couple light frangipani scents in the daytime in the summer, so this goes on great later in the day afterwards. Feels classy and luxurious, and definitely one of the favorites of my collection – also my all-time favortie Chanel.

A fragrance that we can say, has Chanel’s blood.
For its delicacy, precision and balance in the chords, it is a refined scent as the brand has always enjoyed, it is no wonder that it was for the exclusive line.
Beige is clearly its set of aldehydes dna from the house, mingled with white floral nuances, lightly dusty, maybe tarnished, but has something with a carnal and solar aspect that I believe is the frangipani, with a differential pinched of honey accompanying, giving Taste and creaminess, very good and balanced, for all who want to feel elegant but with refinement and delicacy

I was gifted this, and I must say it is pleasant. really pretty.
No headiness, almost un-Chanel like, although the quality clearly states it is so.
It’s not in any way mind-blowingly new, and I’m not going to go into notes because that’s been done already but my my.. this is beautifully, seamlessly blended.
when I first smelled it I thought, “really expensive shampoo” (meaning no offense whatsoever) and I would say that that’s accurate, it does give you that sort of happy, clean feeling- like the way freshly washed hair smells as you towel dry. some luxurious shampoos, they smell fabulous in the shower, and smell great as you towel-dry, and you wince a bit when its dry because the scent is really just a trace of what it was… but with Beige, you can have that for as long as you like!
I don’t think this perfume could ever offend anyone. It won’t create stalkers, either, but sometimes it’s just nice to have something that is just truly pretty and not beautiful-but-devastatingly-complex (although we perfume freaks love those too don’t we!)
A big thumbs up from me.

Uh-oh…2 hours later all I have left is a nice, average musk.

Oh my word! This delightful, refined scent is absolutely darling. My Mother was “uncluttering” her rather more than obscene collection of perfume, and as per usual I was the beneficiary. Bless my Mum, her taste is beyond sublime but on occasion she hovers between scent hoarder and some sort avenging angel armed with scent testers and skin wipes. I get a Skype call early-ish yesterday morning, It’s Mum, and behind her are countless bottles of perfume. They are laid upon her bed, some on a white towel, some on an aqua towel and some on a floral towel. Those on the aqua towel are her keepers. The white are those which she will pass along to me and the floral towel are her “not sure’s”. Amongst the scents she has passed along was this beauty. This is elegant, exquisite and utterly enticing. I get a a heavenly honey warmed frangipani, not the cloying, sticky honey either. It is so well blended that the honey note seems to warm and compliment the pretty, clean freesia. This fragrance is one classy and captivating lady. I found the silage to be moderate…just. As I said this is a classy lady and therefore she does not overwhelm anyone in her vicinity. The longevity I found to be a fair moderate.

O my God!!!! Its such a beauty! Increadible!Very long lasting, expensive and like swimming in clouds of Frangipani, Akazia, Jasmin and other white flowers. I hate honey in parfums but here honey is nearly undetectable and give wonderful mellow gentle but also joyful feel. A little bit similar with Caron Farnesiana.
Very very beautiful. I am receiving huge amount of compliments while wearing. Totally taken!.

The color beige is monotonous, featureless, neutral, non-descript, drab, basically uninteresting…zzzzz
CHANEL BEIGE, Jacques Polges interpretation of the color, on the other hand, is anything but beige! It’s a bright, yellow frangipani and pristine white freesia. It’s a golden honey and thin greenish flower stems. It couldn’t be less beige if it tried!
I find it a rather emphatic honeyed floral. It gets straight to the point of being beautiful, arresting even. It quickly becomes a focal point for both the wearer and those lucky enough to be nearby.
The frangipani moves smoothly through the honey note, preventing it from becoming too ‘thick’, too sweet and sticky in presentation. Frangipani has a co-staring and linear role with the best honey note in perfumery. Both are perfectly executed and balanced in this composition, from top to bottom which comes (impressively) hours and hours later.
There are many honey/floral combinations on the market.
    ALL are ‘beige’ in comparison.

The freesia in this immediately reminded me of the original Michale Kors, but this is much more subdued, much more refined….well, much more Chanel you can say. Some might call this boring, but I find it nice and sweet and flowery but yes, understated. Think of a bouquet of white and yellow flowers, but a watercolor interpretation of white and yellow flowers and that’s what you have here. The projection is nice and soft, so this is perfect for the office or a wedding. This type of fragrance has been done many times before, but something the way this is formulated makes it stand out. Thumbs up.

For me, this was nearly a perfect replica of Johnson&Johnson’s baby shampoo, the golden no-tears variety. I think it’s the freesia, but also swear I smelled chamomile. It is therefore to me golden, comforting, simple and maternal. I don’t get a honey note at all–neither a honeyed floral nor a honeyed urinic musk. It is lightly sweet, but not sugary. I loved this at first sniff, and can see this as a real multi purpose scent–mellow enough for the office, mild but making a statement while running errands or chauffeuring to soccer practice. Not necessarily a night on the town scent–more cotton undies than silk lingerie, to be frank–but wholesome, winsome, sincere and well balanced. I would enjoy a bottle of this, I think; I only have a decant. The name is atrocious, it implies banal and boring and it is not. Sillage is modest but certainly present, longevity >7 hours.

Today I tested Beige and No 22, and the latter has lots in common with No 5, whereas the former reminded me of ELDO’s Delicious Closet Queen. Quite surprising since they don’t share a single note according to this website right here. I’m not saying Beige could substitute Closet Queen and vice versa, but to me the resemblance is striking. I treasure my Closet Queen, but wouldn’t think twice about buying Beige too should the budget allow it. They’re both great perfumes and totally unisex. Closet Queen’s leather accord probably contributes to superior sillage and longevity, whereas Beige most likely delivers more in sophistication and finesse. Great stuff.

  35. :

This fragrance fits the colour beige. This is quite sweet honey and flowers with strong Chanel musk on the background. It’s a lovely scent. The white musk makes the scent last longer. I don’t like strong white musk though.

  36. :

    4 out of 5

Beige is a fan favorite and I understand why – it is versatile and tastefully executed. This fragrance is “sunny”, yet maintains cool composure; it is “petite” in projection, yet notably grand in quality. Beige is subtle and refined and I think that’s why it is so popular. This fragrance is perfect for the “relaxed, yet classy” person (or those want to be perceived that way.)
I had no idea what to expect from Beige. The notes seemed to be of drippy, potentially cloying, tropical-floral sort, yet the name of the fragrance suggested something more mellow. Beige, in actuality, is a light frangipani fragrance with the signature Chanel powdery-luminescent aldehydic “luft” and soft sweetness from muted vanilla. The honey is sheer and appears after about 30 minutes on me, though Beige remains quite linear and thoroughly inoffensive for its duration. It is a light comfort scent with a bit of a tropical floral spirit.
I’m not one of those frag heads that needs complexity in order to feel interested, nor do I dismiss fragrances for being on the upswing in popularity, but Beige, though beautiful, completely failed to move me. I felt nothing but “it’s nice” when I smelled it. The other Les Exclusifs samples I’ve bought have been vibrant. That being said, Beige will be the most popular of the Les Exclisifs for years to come, I bet. Nothin’ wrong with that! It’s great stuff!

This is an understated beauty. My husband just gifted me my second bottle and it does suit me. It is very comfortable to wear as it stays close to the skin but is very long lasting. It’s soft and elegant. I can’t imagine when this wouldn’t be appropriate. Beige is refined, versatile and very pretty. It’s my new favorite because I’ve learned to admire it’s wearabilty.

Beige is a warm summer scent to wear when one is outdoors basking in the sun by a pool. It smells just the slightest bit like perfumed sun tan lotion but in a beautiful way. I wore this in Italy when I was staying at a friend’s villa during Fashion Week. The honey note is very pronounced and it’s like white flowers were dipped in honey. The floral notes are soft, much softer than the aldehydic florals in other Chanel frags. The freesia is a soft baby flower and the hawthorn feels a bit herbal but not heavily so. The frangipani dominates the scent entirely and provides it with a tropical flair. I could wear this on my next trip to the Caribbean, to my favorite little island of Bonaire and nearby Curacao where I have a Fragrantican perfumer friend who indulges me with perfume. This has decent longevity and although it does not smell like any of the other Chanel scents it’s still very elegant like Coco Chanel herself is on vacation and wearing this fragrance. She’s in dark sunglasses and even a bikini which she never went out to shop for lol….One other frag in my vast collection smells like this: Giselle by Carla Fracci, they both have the same warm tropical honeyed scent. Smells like a beach fragrance, a summer vacation fragrance, just ah so nice. Smells so good.
Notes include Freesia Hawthorn Frangipani Honey

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I was a bit surprised at how much I like this one. I can’t really smell the honey but I can believe it’s there along with the frangipani and vanilla notes and the freesia. It lasts for a lot longer than I would have expected too. Beige is an ageless perfume – anyone with a touch of refinement or class can wear this whether she’s nineteen or ninety. It’s the perfume equivalent of a cashmere scarf – warm, lovely and elegant.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

Its gorgeous , ignore Luca Turin , he didn’t give it a fair chance – after the burst of hawthorn , the fragrance is so rich and honeyed its like being wrapped in cashmere and hugged . Its better on clothes than skin – on skin it doesn’t last long enough to get to the honey phase (EDT) . Its like nothing else Chanel has made – its nothing like as aldehydic as most Chanel’s which makes a change.
Spray on clothes for best sillage and longevity – people are going to have to get close to you to appreciate this – it is SOOOO warm and comforting .

Chanel had me hooked again with this one, beautiful, sexy and unique in it’s own way 🙂 some may disagree but if you try it observe the way develops it is not like your typical clean flowery but sweet kind of smell.

This scent surprises very much. The Frangipani and tuberose is revolute into bright, light suede leather, close by lie ripe fruits. Beige scent incredibly lightly and is subtly developed on the skin . Lasts powderly suedely.

Honey, you are lovely! You smell like an acacia blossom and taste like a honey. Yummy-yummy!
Such a summer scent: sunny, sweet, spicy and yet subtle and close to the skin. Great to put it on in a cool weather to warm yourself up.
There is some aroma of exotic sanctuary here; meditative and healing that always restores your senses to its usual timber.
Holiday smell…you are away, somewhere in Tahiti, away from everything mundane…Who wouldn’t love that ?!
Piquantness of all accords here transforms their sweetness into everlasting novelty of this almond beauty….Beige solstice…Bliss!
P.S. If you are not comfortable with a long haul and are money wise, more affordable destinations might be appealing to you too; then try Elige, Mary Kay EDT and you will be surprised by the alikeness of these two perfumes; the same fresh floral spicy flavour (freesia is prominent here and there).
Enjoy the journey and the destination will reach you.O:-) )))

You can’t lightly spray this perfume to get to it’s best performance, cause if you lightly spray this, this going to give you a soapy detergent smell, it’s not bad, but some will get headaches.. Never happened with me
Anyway.. you need to overspray this to reach to that intoxicating creamy flowers, aaahhh pretty!
I could almost smell lemongrass in it.. Yumm
    Thx for reading 🙂
    **Edit** Dec-2017
I mean the opposite when I wrote this, I need to lightly spray this beauty because if you overspray this many will get nausea, perhaps I was having too much red when I made this review above:) 🙂 😀

I got this for mother’s day, but I had to return it. I already have Chantecaille’s Fragipane and hardly wear that at all. I like fragipane, but I don’t like it that much. The Chantecaille will probably last me for the next twenty years. Yes ladies, I only wear it once or twice a year. So this had to be sent back. Don’t get me wrong it is a nice fragrance. But I am going to study some other Chanel fragrance. I am considering No 19 or perhaps Cristalle, among others.

Beige is pale in comparison to Frangipane by CHanteccaille..I love it but I dont like Beige
serious, very serious, to my nose soapy floral and formal…I am not a Chanel girl and Beige just isnt the one to change my mind!

I love Chanel 22 and Chantecaille “Frangipane”and but this Beige smells like cheap soap on me after abut 15 mins. I even asked a couple of strangers on the street if Beige reminded them of soap and they agreed.
I asked men and women. I know that personal chemistry has alot to do with how a perfume works, but I am not impressed with this one at all. There is no elegance, no mystery, no WOW!
I must disagree with Nathalie87 completely, sorry.

  49. :

    5 out of 5

I know I shouldn’t judge a perfume by its name, but that’s exactly what I did with Beige.
Instead of being a bland scent, Beige is a big tropical floral. The opening is quite soapy, and the flowers enter loudly. My brain even thinks there’s the slightest hint of coconut, but it’s probably the soapy note peeking out.
To me, this is unusual for a Chanel. And to be honest, if I want to wear a tropical, summery scent like this, I would save my money and buy something else instead.

I’ve had Beige for 3 years now. It was an impulse purchase during a wonderful escapade to NYC, when our Canuck buck was on par with the Greenback (let me have a moment of silence and shed a tear for those now mythical days).
Anyway… At the time I chose it over 31 Cambron, 28 La Pausa and 22 Chanel … Like really, what was I thinking?
Yet, there was something very different about this one compared to anything Chanel offered, and actually, pretty much anything that I could remember smelling. The irony is that I am not a big flower person, and certainly not a big yellow flower and honey person…. And yet…
Today, I came home from my scent-free work place (I know, I know, no need to expand on this one) and was craving a very specific fragrance. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out what it was, and then it hit me… Of course you guessed it… Beige by Chanel. Must be the spring weather finally coming to our glacial part of the world.
And I am now enjoying the languid whispers of frangipani, with very faint echos of honey in the background. On me, it smells like those nice and expensive beach perfumes should smell, but never do. I found my tropical fix! I never thought that it would be Chanel that would deliver it.

Flowers….flowers….and more flowers…..very lovely….very classy….uptown spring woman, living in New York City. Walking briskly as if to meet up with her son in Central Park, just having left her Park Avenue (Vanderbilt) building apartment. Think Jackie O, Gucci purse, bell bottoms (shirt never tucked in) in full stride hiding behind those huge black sunnies with her thick black hair billowing in the air. All that money she has, she can buy whatever she desires and she smells like this! Our former First Lady, our own regal head fit for a crown, but alas we are America. That is the image I see when I smell this on my wrist. If you look on google, you will find this exact picture of her, taken by the photographer she took to court, Ron Gallela. (sp?). He was ordered to stay a certain distance from her. But, I really think this fragrance is all about the flowers and someone very important in their kick around clothes, which are the best manufacturers in the world can produce, which she kicks around in. Yep….class act all the way. I’m not sure if I will purchase a FB of this. This is my first testing/wearing of Beige.
Edit: I bought myself a fb, and I adore it! It’s perfect for springtime! PERFECT!

I love this fragrance! It is sweet and a little tropical flower smelling, but also dry
And therfore never cloying:-) i also find a hint of spice in it, chanel spice 😉 which makes it very sophisticated! I just put one spritz on, otherwise i will get a mild headake because of the flowers, i think.. But abselutly a very nice warm, floral chanel scent! For me perfect all year around but so elegant in the winter and around christmas i think:-)

I have this memory from my childhood years, when my father gifted me my first perfume. Chanel No 5. As he as handing over to me this black&white box containing the minimal, iconic bottle of this legendary juice he whispered to me “All fine ladies wear Chanel”. I think I was 12 years old at the time…
Since then, my perfume collection is always filled with Chanel bottles, not because I like Chanel perfumes per se (far from it, I think that with the exception of “Coco” all other perfumes are rather average) but, because my father’s words are imprinted in my mind… “All fine ladies wear Chanel…”
I do not really like Chanel perfumes as the majority of them have very distinct adelhyde notes which I do not prefer. Therefore, I may be somewhat negatively biased when writing about Chanel perfumes.
I was recently killing time at the airport, waiting for my flight where I decided to try “Beige” from the Chanel line “Les Exclusifs” and I realized this: Chanel makes pefumes for two categories of consumers. The first category is for people who admire the brand. In this category falls the classics like Chanel No 5, for example. The second category is the one which is for the more sophisticated consumer. ‘Les exclusifs” fall in this category.
To make a long story short “Beige” became my new signature scent. “Beige” is inarguably a masterpiece. There is a skilled artistry in the combination of the notes to create a perfume so elegant, light and pretty. It is really a skin scent. It doesn’t smell like perfume in the sense that you will not wear something that smells like roses, or sugar and marshmallows or citrus… It smells exactly like you, only better.
It is difficult to put my finger on the notes, they are so well balanced that cannot be distinguished yet, I know that what I am smelling, the end result, is just marvelous. It is light and clean and juicy but does not have any citrus opening; it is floral and feminine without any of the headiness that one might expect; it is warm and deep but it isn’t oriental or a strictly winter scent; it is powdery but not dry.
One can wear it day or night, at work or for special occasions, it is very versatile. The longevity is not massive, I would give it some 4 hours at best.
I love “Beige”. It’s me. It’s how I always wanted to smell, like a fine lady who wears Chan
