This scent is classy, sophisticated. I imagine a man in his mid 30s and upwards wearing a suit or in a office environment wearing this. To my nose it has a subtle scent profile which makes the projection seem not too great but the longevity is good. I get suede, some powdery-ness and a little sweetness. For the price this is a great fragrance.

I have a few from the Essence line and this one so far ranks up the top, followed by Bright Neroli and Pure Lavender.
The leather is very soft, suede like, enveloped in beautiful tonka, patchouli and vanilla, sprinkled with cloves and cinnamon. It’s inviting, warm and luxurious. It punches way above it’s weight when you consider how cheap it is. You could bottle it niche and I would happily accept it. I don’t normally buy into the hype on YouTube but this one deserves it.
Ferrari with their essence line is easily becoming my favourite designer house.
And the bottles and caps are all class!

I love it, although I detect more cinnamon notes than Leather

I have to give it a like because I don’t dislike the smell and I’m not going to be one of those guys who says ‘No leather AT ALL here.’ in my review because I suppose this sweetened, oriental mass does pose as what constitutes leather notes in many fragrances, however I would sympathise with that guy.
The truth about this line is that they are good and better than expected from one aspect due to Ferrari’s earlier efforts. On the other hand due to all the hype they’ve received, they actually fell sort for me. Bergamot and bright Neroli are fairly nice and decent value for money, as I’m sure Noble fig will be. However, I’m not convinced about this leather one.
It’s too sweet and icky, just an baggy composition of crowd pleasing spice laden oriental stuff. It’s like spicebomb without any of the bomb, or the spice really! Cinnamon and clove yes, on a woody/gourmand/sweet leather/vanilla base.
I’m oldskool, I like my leather to be leathery and masculine. I can enjoy Tuscan leather although that’s really quite sweet, because it has real smoky leather facets and luxurious ingredients, this just seems lacking and certainly not in the league of the king. In some respects I’m glad it’s not another TF clone.
Sorry, I really hoped this would be a good budget leather, it does smell good but good as a throwaway oriental fragrance, the leather in the name and on the bottle threw me, oh and the performance isn’t too good either, maybe another wear is in order?? I wasn’t overly impressed anyway.

Ferrari Leather Essence is another solid example of a fragrance from the company that comes at a good value, generally in the $30-40 for the standard 100ml.
It’s a crafty leather, somewhat sweet and spicy but mostly pivoting to the powdery tonka that, along with the leather, dominates my experience of the scent. Elements like clove and cinnamon add a certain spiciness, with the lavender/citrus pairing gives it a burst of brightness at the beginning that quickly fades.
While it’s objective a nice composition, it’s overwhelmingly powdery on my skin for the first 2-3 hours of wearing, after which it mellows out somewhat. So in that respect, it definitely performs well, with significant projection for a while. Again, an excellent value, but for my money, I’d rather enjoy a sweet leather in Davidoff Leather Blend.

Received today and wearing it now.
Very smooth leather, and surprisingly fresh.
Nice and spicy too, sweet spicy I would say.
Very impressed, especially for the price.
I could wear this anytime of year, but I think it suits Autumn best of all. It’s quite comforting with the spices.
8.5 out of 10…if not higher. Great!

Delicious smile inducing creamy leather scent with a touch of smoke and some resin approaching niche quality at a fraction of the price. After having the likes of TL, Puredistance M and some other heavy hitters, it becomes rather humorous to see a budget scent like Essence of Leather be every bit as good and at certain times even better.

This isn’t as unique as some of the niche leathers I’ve smelled, but I’d totally recommend it to someone with an average budget.

I am by no means an expert, I only know what smells good to me and this does. The main scent I get from this is leather and a soft cinnamon. I love this scent as well as the Bright Neroli. Hard to beat for the price.

Leather essence… IMO one of the best leather scents ever conceived. This is as good as it gets, a prominent leather scent with the vanilla, tonka bean and patchouli combining to present a very luxurious scent. Love at first smell for me, i have tried a number of leather scents and this is in my top 3 easily. The price is very cheap USD 30 to 40 and the quality is grand. Longevity impressive at 7 hours, with the only drawback being the projection, it becomes a skin scent within an hour. Another great release after the brilliant Silver essence and Ferrari Uomo.

Leather, leather and a bit more leather is what I get from this fragrance. To wear this fragrance, you need facial hair and a leather jacket and maybe a bike. Personally, I like fragrance to have leather with other prominent notes, hence, TF TL will still be my favourite leather based scent.

  12. :

    5 out of 5

To my nose, it’s basically a better performing John Varvatos Vintage, although JVV might have some additional, albeit shortlived nuances. The cloves note and cinnamon are quite prominent and make for a christmas pudding association. The leather itself is smooth and generic. I get the Burberry London parallel, but to my mind, BL has an ambiguous “hay” note, in reality, probably the tobacco, which FLE lacks. Instead, FLE is a bit denser and spicier, due to which the sweetness of the composition seems to be better balanced.

I have so many leather based fragrances such as TF Tusscan leather, Montale Leather oud, Ch men prive, Dior homme parfume, Mercedes le Parfum, etc.
Among all of them, Ferrari essence leather is the most fragrance that I was satisfied with; even if it was not the best.
It is the most comfortable to wear and has this cold classy vibe that is so delicious and beautiful. No harshness or sourness what so ever.
It is dark and refreshing at the same time.
Unbelievable fragrance, scent, packageing and overall quality for the price (25$ / 100 ml).

This is a great fragrance and I mean really great its a love for me. Now factor in the price and its a no brainer just buy it. Now to the smell what I get is a nice tame leather. I mean its a soft and smooth leather with cinnamon sprinkled on it and a dab of vanilla splashed on that to sweeten it up just enough. This is a quality fragrance that is a crowed pleaser blind buy worthy in my opinion.

Out of all the Essence collection, this juice ranks tops! Thou it’s named leather, you think your going to breathe in a leathery aroma…not at first! I was pleasantly surprised with warm spicy sweet aroma with a smig of leather barley coming through. I actually like the way the notes are in harmony making it very delicious. The cinnamon aroma with cloves enhancing the overall aroma. Leather does come through after awhile with a hint of tobacco thou it’s not listed.
Longevity and Silage is very high quality
I remember when this juice first came out the price was a lot more than what you can buy it for now. This fragrance is perfect during the fall and winter months lending to colder weather. This juice works well and not overbearing. Vanilla note gives it pleasant creamy vib. I would most definitely approve of you giving this fragrance a try. Definitely worthy of being in my collection’s besides some hard to find fragrance. 9/10

The leather is the scent of a new pair of ladies winter leather driving gloves. A soft, gentle leather. No brashness, nothing harsh. A bit of sweetness to the scent, the slightest whisp of powdery vanilla/tonka/cinnamony goodness and a soft undernote of wood.
This is a very gentle scent. I’d definitely say it’s unisex, but it may be one that ladies should spray into the air, and then let it settle onto your bare skin. Or maybe even spray a cotton ball and swipe up your arms, small of back, and neck. I’d place the cotton into my undergarment after that, to keep it next to your warmth.
It’s honestly quite a yummy, cuddly scent, but not in a gourmand way. There is something about it that makes your nose seek it out.
On a man? Oh there’s no doubt this would be irresistible (unless he’s a jerk – no scent on the planet can save a jerk). On a woman? Don’t abuse it, and it’s a soft kid leather, vanilla/tonka that seems to be a sensual part of your soul. If you’re worried that men will think you smell like a guy, don’t be – you won’t. Very sensual, great for cuddling with a cocoa under a blanket, or playing in the leaves with Mr Handsome.
    *edit
I’m sorry, I’m changing my mind on how easily this may be unisex. It’s well rounded, it’s rich, it’s oh so nice – butttt not as easily worn by a woman as I had hoped. Still a top notch scent though, and I’d love to smell it on a man.

So I’ve got three of the essence line – the Leather, the Amber, and Silver.
There’s a distinct DNA that seems to run through them all, a wood-tinted subltly mild sweetness – almost like a gentle infusion of the primary notes.
Like the Silver was a dry coconut infused with that lovely birch, this is a light “new” leather scent(as opposed to some leathers which open quite smoky and heavier) infused with the guaiac and vanilla/spice mixture.
As another in a recent string of my exposure to scents with supporting clove notes, I am a huge fan of this blend – this is so comfortable to me. Those who like some degree of sweetness but have grown tired of more heavy, syrupy-sweet frags will appreciate the drier, airier sweetness of this (and Silver Essence, IMO).
I’ve just now put it on my wrist after opening the bottle, but I plan to update this later.
I will try a full application of Amber Essence next. I cannot wait to see what the Vetiver blend is like in these capable hands.

Like this one more than the leather in Ferrari Uomo.
This is less shouting in the opening and a little sweetened. Very nice and affordable.
Can be used on warmer weather, the Uomo for the colder days.
Longevity is good, smell it a whole workday.

    I just love this stuff.
Granted, it’s not for everyone since there is very little sweetness and it doesn’t have that ubiquitous God forsaken green apple nonsense…
But if you’re a man…and I mean a man’s man, you’ll probably like this stuff too – maybe even adore it.
It starts off with a distinct similarity to Dior Fahrenheit, but after a few minutes, that petrol kind of leather gives way to 4 very obvious notes – cloves, cinnamon, patchouli and a tad bit of vanilla, in that order.
Honestly, I’m amazed at how fast the leather fades, but I really don’t care. The rest of the fragrance reminds me simultaneously of pencil shavings and a baked good. That would be the Guaiac wood playing in with the spices and leather. Brilliant.
Thanks to the YouTubers who gave this some exposure. It’s easily my favourite of the Essence line, including Bright Neroli.
But be warned! The probability of this getting compliments from women is low. It’s just too dry and spicy. For me, it’s more of a man’s scent – but boy is it good…like I said, give it about 30 min and you’ll see what I mean. Ooooo baby!
    Scent – 8.5/10
    Longevity – 7.5/10
    Projection – 6.5/10
Overall – 8/10 – Modest, spicy, woody goodness.

طبق معمول عطر های جدید فراری پخش بو و ماندگاری هم خیلی خوبه داره و شمارو راضی میکنه.

One would expect this to be a winter perfume, but on my skin this perfume works best during hot summer days.
In summer, the leather becomes soft, refined, warm… and very enjoyable.
In winter, there is a somewhat floral, but unpleasent note that covers the leather and makes me hate the perfume.
Thank god for summer 🙂 !

    A successful blind buy.
Even if there is less leather than in Uomo, this is quite a unique and fresh take. I am almost as big a fan of it as Cassiano, except that I think the chocolate comes from the guaiac wood and coumarin, as in Viaggio D’Africa.
Leather Essence refers to a nose. I think it is important that someone thinks the fragrance is good enough to put their name on it. From now on, I will only blind buy if he composition is credited. I am also putting Alexandra Carlin on my watchlist, let’s see what other goodies she comes up with.

First and foremost, the soft lambskin-like leather on the bottle is very nice. I don’t like the way they printed the Ferrari logo so poorly on all the Essence bottles, but I’ll live with it. I love this clear plus leather bottle, whereas I loathe the other Essence bottles.
As for the scent, the leather is not as pronounced as I was expecting, but this smells great! This competes with (and beats) Polo Supreme Leather. The scent reminds me of a variety of scents, like Nuit d’Issey and Spicebomb Extreme, although it doesn’t smell too much like any of them. It’s a nice, deep, warm cinnamon and tonka overshadowing a leathery base and you can definitely pick up on the bitter orange, which only stands to compliment the cinnamon, it doesn’t stand out at all. Also, as others have stated, the cloves are deep, woody, and sweet. They’re not at all overbearing or too spicy or hot.
So far, this is great! Albeit a little forgettable in the beginning… but as it starts to dry down, that’s where the magic happens! And this scent goes on and on, projecting this nice dry down for HOURS! 9 hours today and still going. It typically lasts about 12 hours for me. The dry down is very comparable to Nuit d’Issey’s opening, which I love! The dry down also reminds me of the opening of Silver Essence, which is another great option from Ferrari.
Overall: This is a HUGE win for Ferrari, and so far, the best I’ve experienced from the brand. This scent competes with many more expensive scents, for a price of only $30. It projects well, lasts forever, has a nice scent evolution, and I just plain love it. I traded away my first bottle and missed it so much I had to purchase it again. I won’t be trading this one! As long as you don’t expect the leather to be the standout note, you won’t be disappointed!

Lovely scent. It smells of a brand new leather jacket with woolen inside, so cozy it is. Not overpowering. First time I use it. I did it sparingly, and it doess’t project too much. I think I’ll spritz a little more next time, since it’s so nice. Nothing out of this planet, but a leather essence very well done.

This along with Mercedes Benz Le Parfum are two fantastic and affordable leather scents. The difference between the two is the level of sweetness. Mercedes Benz is drier and more no nonsense. Ferrari is the sweet interpretation of leather and the cinnamon is absolutely prominent from start to finish. Both can be bought instead of a lot more expensive Tuscan Leaether (Ferrari is close to it) and Aqua Di Parma Leather (closer to Benz). I prefer this Ferrari over Benz as its a little more playful through its sweetness, Benz is fantastic too but a little too serious.

This is a sweet leather fragrance with the clove, vanilla and tonka being the most dominant…I find this leaning more towards a warm suede rather than leather, but it’s still a wonderful fragrance only let down by its projection, longevity isn’t a problem but I was expecting better projection with the notes listed…still worthy in anyone’s collection.
    7/10

A slightly different and possibly better rendition of leather. Most leathers are powder e.g: dior homme parfum and Valentino uomo. Or they are sweet e.g: Tuscan leather or la yuqawam pour homme. This is not sweet but very masculine and slightly on the bitter side which makes it so much better for me. It feels like a good quality leather jacket or a car leather seat but with some spice coming from the cloves. Projection and performance is slightly above average. An excellent value for money.

  30. :

    4 out of 5

This reminds me a bit of Valentino Uomo, but that one is harsher and gets irritating fairly quickly, whereas the blend here is considerably more pleasant. It may not be as strong as VU, but it has really good longevity and I continue to get wafts, so the projection isn’t minimal either. At current prices I think it’s a really good deal, if you want a powdery, slightly sweet (with a touch of that “berry/bubble gum quality” so common these days), middle-of-the-road leather (not birch tar, not suede, not leather store, not Tuscan Leather, etc.). This is the kind of scent I prefer, in terms of recent designer releases. And I’m really glad it’s not ruined by a mega-dose of lavender, as is so often the case with “masculines” (and I don’t see why women wouldn’t like this, if they enjoy leather scents).

After the release of the first two fragrances of the Essence Collection – Essence Oud and Silver Essence – in 2012, Ferrari realized that there was much more to show and that it was possible to create more sophisticated scents with better ingredients. So, in 2013, the brand launched two new fragrances: Essence Musk and Leather Essence.
Leather Essence arrives in the standard bottle, which was created for this collection, bringing special paints and impeccable finishing, as metal lid and leather. However, this time, Ferrari decided to put aside the paints of its custom color palette and covered the bottle with the same leather used inside some GT models, bringing the detail of the seams and showing the liquid inside. Personally, I think this is the most beautiful bottle from the collection so far.
In the official composition, Leather Essence has notes of bergamot, bitter orange and clove, in the output; Cinnamon, tonka bean and dark leather accord, in the body of the fragrance; Patchouli, Guaiac wood, cedar and vanilla, in the base. What happens on the skin, from there, it’s difficult to express in words.
When touches the skin, the bitter orange is mixed to the strong smell of cloves. Here, the cloves have no aromatic and medicinal aspect, like in those remedies used by dentists, which scares many people and which is present in some niche fragrances. Its nuance is sweeter and merges to a delicious cinnamon, which appears, right at the beginning, as if it were on top and not in the body of the fragrance.
Without much fanfare, the creaminess of the tonka bean begins to emerge, but a dry leather smell also appears. It’s not the soft suede perfume or that strong aroma of raw leather. Is a middle ground that reminds me of the smell of old laces, like those used in Top-Sider shoes, which are real leather straps.
Finally, it is very easy to feel the patchouli and its nuances of dark chocolate, which were perfectly balanced with the vanilla, preventing that the perfume became extremely gourmand at the end of evolution. And if you still feel some smoky facet, thank to the Guaiac wood, which was put in the right place of olfactory pyramid.
I’m not going to make comparisons, because I think it remembers several other fragrances and, at the same time, has its own style. But I can say that fans of scents as Spicebomb, Bvlgari Man in Black, A*Men and its variations, etc. will be enchanted with this fragrance.
Leather Essence makes you wonder how it could be the smell of a Ferrari and its luxurious interior, after having been parked under the Sun for some time. It’s a warm, cozy and seductive fragrance. Along with Essence Oud, makes the most imposing duo from the collection. And as such, exudes a lot and still lasts for more than 12 hours on the skin. As the name suggests, is the essence of the leather in the vision of Ferrari.

Apparently the notes prevalent in Leather Essence and Ferrari Uomo are more or less the same. The sillage in most Ferrari fragrances is usually moderate at best. So which one would you guys reckon being the better purchase?

  38. :

    4 out of 5

    Hi all there,
Today I had a chance to test some Ferrari fragrances from the Essence line and Leather Essence was among them. I have Ferrari Uomo, Essence Musk and Vetiver Essence, so my expectations were very high about Leather Essence.
I really love Ferrari Uomo, because it is very sophisticated, very elegant and beautiful formal scent with great suede note, so I thought Leather Essence would be even more interesting in that way… But I was wrong.
Leather Essence is nothing like Ferrari Uomo. Leather Essence is bolder, sweeter, sexier, kind of seductive evening scent. I think it reminds me of Thierry Mugler A*Men Les Parfums de Cuir with a tiny drop of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather. I know many would say I’m crazy to do that kind of comparison, but that’s how I feel about it. Leather Essence is not a clone of any fragrance and it got own character.
I think Leather Essence would fit perfectly to these guys, which would love to smell elegant and stylish with some classic vibes, but at the same time everything to be mixed in a modern and seductive way… Here you don’t have to make a choice if you want to smell smart and sexy at the same time.
The funny thing is that, if I have Leather Essence and Ferrari Uomo without any labels, I would say the bottle with Ferrari Uomo juice inside is the real “Leather Essence”…;)
Leather Essence is not truly a leather scent. Yes, it delivers the suede note very well, but it gives lovely sweet and woody notes and that makes it a complex and very nice scent that I can describe as a great cross between classic and modern take of a men evening scent.
I will definitely get a full bottle of Leather Essence.
Edit note: many thanks to Ohjac who pointed out a mistake in my review and now I corrected it.

Leather fans, there’s many ways to do leather. This is a very “factory fresh”, sweet, berry like leather, with a chemical hint of leather conditioners and cleaner. It comes off sweet, but then mellows to a powdery medicinal patchouli.
Longevity: kinda ok, last a few hours in the hot sun
    Projection: modest.

I’m having this cologne delivered to me in 48 hours. I do hope I’ll enjoy it! Well, I should from the glowing attributes/reviews I’m reading so far on this platform. Will also be having Versace Oud Noir (just for the sake of building my Oud 2015 Collection)!
    ***********************************************************
I’ve been enjoying this juice ever since I got it on Tuesday the 12th. Last night, I spritzed on my napes, wrists, back of palm and headed to see my neighbour! He complimented the cologne. Now, this fragrance has a strong leather, sweet, yummy vibe. Its projection, sillage and longevity are all impressive. Ideal for cool evenings and sunny mornings .

Leather Essence is a manly spicy fragrance to me, mainly what I get is Leather and Cinnamon, the leather note is not a Tuscan Leather like leather and not the plasticky type of leather which is in for example Midnight In Paris, it is more like a smooth slightly sweet leather, not too spicy, not too sweet fragrance, I really like it, longevity and projection are also great for me, I have the whole collection except of Silver Essence, and probably this and Musk are my favourites, the bottle is beautiful, heavy glass with leather stripe, metal cap also with leather stripe, I give Leather Essence a 7/10

Bought this one online without trying it. It costs about 100 USD, and Ferrari claim this is their high end line of scents , they should have said high end perfume packaging and it’s clear that most of the cost of that perfume was spent on the bottle. The perfume is so so so cheap.
I can’t quite believe that people are mentioning TFTL on here. It’s a crime to compare these two perfumes.
One spray and gave it away on the spot. HORRIBLE !

  44. :

SDavis93……..Completely agreed….there is nothing to compare between TF Tuscan Leather and this, apart from a leather note. TFTL is truly a luxurious leather with spices and not everyone dares to wear it whereas Ferrari LE is rather a straight Oudish Leather smell. Opening reminds me of A-men PH whereas base is a lighter version of Ferrari Essence of Oud.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

Firstly this smells nothing like Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, the only similarity is that they both have a leather note in them. Tuscan Leather is a bold, rich, sweet leather, smells very high quality and luxurious, and probably smells more like the interior of a new Ferrari than Leather Essence. Leather Essence on the other hand smells more like an old leather arm chair, it is more of a warm, spicy mellow leather and has a cheap smell to it, its ok but does not compare to Tuscan Leather. this has good longevity 5-7 hours, Overall 6/10

Just received it and it is quite delicious. There is nothing refined about it, it is a strong smelling macho bomb of a scent. I am not skilled enough to analyze it but if you like potent stuff like Knize Ten and Black Afgano you will love this.
It is very strong….I opened the bottle at my office without even putting it on my skin and my colleague ( poor woman working with me ) that is extremelly allergic to strong scents immediatelly started sneezing…..
