Imagine this, jasmine blossoms floating on a vessel filled with effervescent dry Ginger ale. Airy lightly spiced jasmine. This has Goutal DNA all over it. A gentler white flower cocktail than Songes or Un Matin. Good for spring or summer, with a light linen weave tunic.

    FRAGRANCE REVIEW FOR LE JASMIN
    ANNICK GOUTAL
    NOTES
    JASMINE
    JASMINE SAMBAC
    MAGNOLIA
    GINGER
Annick Goutal fragrances are possibly the best niche indie fragrances. I’ve enjoyed many of their perfumes through my years of experiences as a perfumista. I’ve never had any trouble with any of them.
Le Jasmin is a simple white floral scent, with sweet jasmine and a perfumy jasmine sambac, not the jasmine of an Oriental fragrance, not an indolic jasmine, not a realistic jasmine, but a sweet and very old fashioned powdery jasmine. It has a slight vanillic under taste and it has ginger and cardamom spices to keep it interesting. The ginger is actually quite powdery. This smells like a sweet girly jasmine, but at the same time it’s not mature because it lacks fruit notes and sweet notes of edible yummy gourmand notes. In fact, though neither too sweet or girly nor too mature, it has an unidentified musk scent, not leather but a light white musk. This musk is on the matures side.
It’s a rather timid water jasmine which although can be detected does not show off in any form and is a light skin scent. It wraps around you skin like jasmine scented gloves or jasmine toilet water on your skin. . The “white floral” aura of it does not feel like other white floral fragrances I’ve encountered i.e. Madonna Truth or Dare, Kim Kardashian, Fracas, White Shoulders, Arpege, Chanel No. 22, L’Air du Temps, and so forth. It has a unique body of it’s own. She is lovely and unassuming. This scent should be worn with a white halter top dress, a white cocktail dress or white faux fur coat, white anything really. This is not the kind of jasmine I’m accustomed to but it is very charming.
It’s a spring and autumn fragrance. In the autumn, early, like September, it has a powdery aromatic quality that wafts into the air in the style I like my perfumes to do. In spring it could be layered with other white floral scents of gardenia and tuberose, or white roses. It can also be layered with something like Estee Lauder White Linen. This is beautiful because it is so simple. I would also like to add that is is decidedly French and evokes a French aristocrat leisurely enjoying herself in a private small garden or courtyard with jasmine bushes. It also has a tea scent like a jasmine tea and mixed with ginger. But on me this tea scent appears to emerge in the dry down and it turns powdery quickly and finishes up as powder. Could also be used as a boudoir perfume.
    Beautiful.

If jasmine were a licour, it would smell like this.
This is a very tropical fragrance, almost a shy Songes’ sister… And it only resembles Olene in the opening notes. Olene develops into wisterias and Le Jasmin remains the same.
Not a soliflower, but very linear, and still, a very original jasmin.

I love jasmine, the pleasant side, not the stinky part! This one is the most pleasant and through delight jasmine perfume so far I have ever tried. No any tiny bit of unpleasantness which jasmine perfumes have so often unavoidably presented.
I think I should stop my jasmine perfume hunting now. Why on earthy do I keep searching?

Sherapop has a good point. The magnolia is the aquatic in this, as much on the stage as the jasmine. It may sing on those who usually dislike aquatics, but find jasmine makes anything good. The magnolia also brings to mind EA Green Tea, so if you think of this as a type of tea scent, you may love it.
Although this is not a soliflore, Annick Goutal always gives surprising interpretations with it’s interesting blends and good quality. It lasted almost all day on me.
This is not the true jasmine I think of with this name. However, if Jasmine is what you’re looking for, I’ve already found one with a similarity, which is completely soliflore: Al Rehab Full. It is just as strong, green, and a touch animalic with the essence of the Real Sambac jasmine flower.
Quality. Lovely. Likable. Low sillage. Good longevity.
    Another artwork for Annick Goutal.

Not bad, but the longevity isn’t what I’d hoped for. Could be a whole lot better. Unfortunately it seems that Annick’s scents lasts poorly in general on me. I don’t know if it’s my skin type or something that causes the problem, but it fades quickly on me.
It’s a nice scent, but not something I went “Ohh, that’s so nice” over at all. More like..meh. I wouldn’t buy a bottle of this, I’m afraid.

I bought Le Jasmin and Grand Amour in small bottles recently. Trying Le Jasmin first I was underwhelmed, perhaps this Jasmin was not for me with its banana skin undercurrent and the gingerbeer on top. I left it until it began to fade and sprayed a couple of Grand Amour puffs on top. They combine beautifully; it’s the way I’m using them, but for the purposes of this review I will try to convey my feelings about Le Jasmin solo. Feels natural, like scented tea; I feel calm wearing it, it suits me I know and yet I want…more. It really does fade too quickly, others have said it. It’s a little tropical, but more like early morning sub tropical. It’s been discontinued once and then revived, so perhaps it will be again. It’s one of the prettiest skin scents you will find and when some benchmark jasmines are sick-making this is entirely suitable for an early morning bus ride. A jasmine for those who are very sensitive to fumes is not a bad thing. There, it’s a homeopathic jasmine, a Rescue Remedy.

This is so lovely. It captures jasmine’s freshness and natural sweetness without adding much spice (Jasmin Rouge) or musk ( A La Nuit). The scent is cool, clean, and transparent, reminding me of a morning garden with fresh jasmine blossoms.
Compared to the so called gold standard of jasmine – A La Nuit, it is cooler, less animalic, with a hint of pear (although not listed).
I love Le Jasmin. The only shortcoming of this fragrance is its short longevity.
Unfortunately Le Jasmin has been discontinued. I suspect it is due to IFRA’s new restriction of jasmin absolute. Annick Goutal fragrances usually contain higher percentage of natural ingredients and must be affected more than many other brands.
Update: the above review is for the EDT. I recently bought the EDP. compared to the EDT, the EDP is warmer and slightly spicier, maybe due to the stronger ginger note. The silage and projection of the EDP is only marginally better.

I swear that I smell at least as much iso-E-super as jasmine in Annick Goutal’s LE JASMIN. The inevitable result is that I am reminded very much of a variety (near infinity…) of men’s colognes while wearing this perfume, ostensibly for women. That tell-tale pseudo-cedar scent abounds here and makes me wonder why it should be mucking up the clear, pristine jasmine waters.
Like LE MIMOSA, LE JASMIN is not a true soliflore at all, for it features just as much “other stuff” as the flower featured in the name. By the drydown, magnolia seems very obvious–which is fine, but it definitely detracts from the divine jasmine which many may be seeking in opting for a perfume called LE JASMIN.
In this case, the overall result is less than felicitous to my nose, probably because I know that there are much, much better jasmine soliflores out there, and much better perfumes, period. It certainly doesn’t help that I find flagrantly detectable iso-E-super rather annoying by now. It’s all right as a booster, but as focal note? No, thank you.
For my jasmine fix, I’ll stick with Molinard JASMIN or (in my dreams, if I ever acquire a bottle…) Montale JASMIN FULL, both of which are much better than this disappointing Goutal launch.

As someone who isn’t usually big on floral perfumes, I wasn’t expecting to love this fragrance…but I do! Le Jasmin is a gorgeous jasmine-magnolia fragrance. It’s dewy and very natural. Creamy, lush jasmine petals and sweet, delicate magnolia blossoms. It’s also crisp, fresh and a little green. I love the zesty, juicy ginger that adds a little spiciness to the mix. I don’t get anything citrusy from this as some reviewers have. For me it brings to mind that blissful feeling of going outside at dawn in springtime and inhaling the scent of new blossoms, fresh dew, and crisp morning air.
I tested the EDT, and I have to admit I wish the lasting power was a little better. I may try the EDP to see how it compares. In any case, this is a beautiful, light and fresh jasmine fragrance.

Got my first bottle of AG perfume -Le Jasmin..bought it blindly only by reading the reviews here.
Fell in love with the first spray and can’t get enough since. The only perfume that made me feel pretty in elegant way.
Unfortunately last not longer on my skin so got to put extra sprays on my clothes to make it there longer which cause me have come almost to the end of my first bottle.
Am thinking of purchasing another AG, maybe D’Hadrien or Petite Cherie, appreciate to have any suggestion from all here.

(This review is for Eau de Perfume)
I bought LE JASMIN blind based on glowing reviews while searching for a fresh jasmine. I admire many creations by Annick Goutal but I am still trying to decide if I like this one or not. On one hand LE JASMIN is natural, green and fresh jasmine. It opens with the sparkly ginger mixed with gentle jasmine buds blossoming into green and fresh jasmine flowers in the heart notes. I love its natural and pure beauty. But on the other hand, there is a green note in this fragrance that turns rather weird on my skin and reminds me a bit of sour pickle juice, which I am not sure about. I tend to think that perhaps it is my skin chemistry with the scent that causes this. If not for this strange green sour note, this would probably be my favorite jasmine scent.

I just found a sample vial with two drops left on the bottom, emptied it on my wrist, and now I’m craving more!
This really is LE Jasmin, THE jasmin I’ve been looking for. It’s beautiful, fresh, clear, nectar-like, it’s a dream come true 🙂

In the world of florals jasmine is my number one hate note, and I had been watching this sample for a long time wondering if there was even a point to testing it out. Well when I did I was so impressed and relieved I just had to post a review immediately!
This is what you smell if you bury your nose into vibrantly alive slightly cool jasmines in the blue hour when the cool winds of the night scares the flowers just a tiny bit into dampening their scent radius.
This is the jasmine from ELO’s Jasmin et Cigarette if you strip away all other ingredients and imagine Annick’s jasmine has spent just a little less time in a vase than Elo’s has.
Annick has brought back jasmine from the note-purgatory I had sent it to and I am officially impressed (if and in case that means anything coming from little me 😉 )

Ok, this is strange because I know it’s supposed to be Jasmine but it smells just like when I go face first into a bunch of Lily of the Valley (I actually get down on the ground to huff them), complete w a slight hint of spring/green.

  18. :

I find Le Jasmin EDT opens with heady white florals & the undertone of healthy sweat. It is invigorating & delicious. It doesn’t really bring to mind ‘real’ jasmine for me until an hour later when it smells like a sprig of jasmine which has been picked, sniffed & laid aside to slowly wilt in the heat.
Unfortunately during the drydown, things really fall apart on me, it becomes thin, cheap and chemically. A lot like lemon household cleanser. Le Jasmin doesn’t really seem to have much oomph in the form of basenotes so this loss of traction kind of makes sense even if it is dissappointing after thoroughly enjoying the first couple of hours of floraliciousness.

missk hit this spot on the head–this is a fizzy jasmine. I don’t know how AG did it, but spraying this on is like popping a champagne bottle–it’s effervescent and tickles your nose. The jasmine is beautiful here w/o the slightly rotten smell other jasmine scents have (Serge Lutens Sarrassins). This isn’t a dirty jasmine, it’s bright and playful, perfect for a sunny spring day!

To me, this is a very pretty little air-head: carefree, endearing, not particularly complicated. However, both my mum and boyfriend claim it’s hell-in-a-bottle: anti-mosquito, disinfectant, no kisses for the misses type of scent. Bipolar!

Think jasmine essence, ginger ale and freshly squeezed lemon juice, and ‘voila!’ you have Le Jasmin.
I’m truly enchanted by this fragrance’s unique approach and sophistication. However it did take a while to become accustomed to this fragrance because it’s a little heavier and spicier than what I expected. Do not assume that this will be an ordinary jasmine-based floral because you will be very wrong in that assumption.
The way in which Le Jasmin has been constructed shows that Isabelle Doyen intended that this fragrance should be complex and exotic. I disagree that Le Jasmin is a soliflore, I get much more than jasmine from this fragrance. This is rich, green, spicy and fizzy jasmine at its very best.
In fact, Le Jasmin is a reproduction of jasmine in its purest and most raw form. The sharp greeness that you experience in this fragrance is very reminiscent of jasmine blooms in the Spring just after a drizzle of rain. Fresh and luscious to the senses.
I applaud Annick Goutal from avoiding the additives of sweet notes and musky undertones which would only make this fragrance like all the rest which are boringly creamy or sweet jasmine scents.
For something very, very different you just can’t ignore this fragrance or the Annick Goutal line for that matter. With excellent lasting power and such expensive and exquisite taste I don’t think anyone could resist.
