Old school gentlemen scent. Lavender woody with slightly citrusy opening.
Nothing special but all n all it is Good for matur crowd and has great performance especially the the edp.
I dont think the comparison with creed boise de portogal is very accurate. Creed has crisper and brighter lemony opening that reminds me more of chanel pour monsieur edt but maybe at eh final drydown stages they get closer.

This is not bad. Very lavender intense. Smells classic. Nothing exceptionnal. OK for office.

While I dont like giving negative reviews, my intention is to help my fellow cologne lovers not repeat my mistakes and spend their money wisely.
Having said that, this one is very much not to my liking. I have and love Creed Bois Du Portugal – and this is nothing like that. They might both be spicy but Portugal is an iconic mastepriece. This is one of my least favorite purchases in the 50 plus bottles I own. I would happily spend $300-$500 on a masterpiece. And while I only spent $25 on this from fragrancenet.com, I regret every penny lol
There is nothing I like about this besides the bottle. There is some note in the juice that I cant put my finger on – like a spicy bell pepper or something that is off putting. Wore it once today, will probably never wear again. Sorry…

It is a very good fragrance but keep in mind that this is not suitable for the younger generation. Definitely over 40 (or rather 50) years. This is a scent for the true gentlemen. Starts very herbal, almost medicinal, but it worth waiting for the drydown which is phenomenal, and long lasting. As time goes by the scent is getting more floral…sweeter…beautiful. A very old-fashioned perfume…requires a grown man 🙂 I hope that it will be still available cca. 10 years later, when I’ll be in the right age to wear it. 😀

    The Lion.
I’ve explored the house of Lalique out of sequence. Starting with Encre Noir, EN Sport, Equus, Voyageur, and l’Insoumis, I’m accustomed to associating Lalique with daring, contemporary perfumes. I recently purchased Pour Homme, expecting more of the same and was blindsided. This doesn’t even smell like a distant cousin to my Lalique familial vibe – old school?! Lavender bomb?! Traditional?! What is this? I left it on the shelf for days, not wanting to look at it. But that proud lion’s visage caught my eye again and again, peering at me with a serene, regal confidence… at night, I’d find myself reaching for the bottle, drawn in by the now familiar accords- “man, that sandalwood/vanilla undercurrent is really nice”…”NOW I get the cedar/iris!”.. each time a new discovery. This is much more than a traditional men’s lavender fragrance. It could be considered an updated Caron Pour Homme, perhaps. It took time for me to fully appreciate, but this is a complex, quality masculine gem! It is a different vibe from the rest of the Lalique men’s fragrances to be sure, but only in that it uses a traditional framework- rather than a modern one-to construct a perfume of timeless class and elegance. It lasts a long time on skin as well. Surely, the Lion deserves a reputation in the fragrance world as beast of kings!

This is a fantastic quality scent for the money. Smells soo refined and well blended. I get a slight similarity to Creed Bois du Portugal but I think there is much more in the mix with this. But I can see how people put the 2 together.
I love how Maurice Roucel has taken simple fougere fragrance notes into another realm by adding Vanilla and Iris into the mix. This really does make a beautiful old school masculine vibe. I would wear this as an Autumn/Winter formal scent.
I get 7+ hours longevity with moderate sillage. Opinions seem to be varied on this one so I wouldn’t recommend as a blind buy. But if you like a touch of the old school manly style in your scents give it a try…

Let me start with a remark to this perfume gorgeous flask. It is simple, elegant and beautiful. it’s a real piece of art.
Inside there is another gem but in the liquid form. The citric pale yellow juice does not let down the flask. As many other scents, it’s a woody spicy fragrance. But it’s a lot more than just another scent.
It opens with bunch of citrus notes – mandarin, tangerine, pomelo, grapefruit and bergamot – although I feel it like a strong citrus non zesty single note (citrus fruit salad?) that ensures a very fresh opening. One can also distinguish a strong and more permanent lavender and a hint of rosemary.
The heart notes play a major role with this fragrance evolution by imposing a strong Iris scent together with cedar in the background.
The base does account for the drydown structure with a good quality semi sweet strong vanilla note, supported by sandal, amber, patchouli, and moss.
Looking at the bigger picture, what you get it’s a 1-2-3 scent with the main accords of lavender, iris and vanilla. It’s neither a mighty fougére dominant lavender, nor an iris from Dior or Prada, nor even one of Yves Rocher powerfull vanillas, but it’s an excelent global scent looking at the overall composition with a smoth blending. It’s a true masterpiece.
It’s impossible not to make comparisons with two look alike fragrances (and I am not discussing who is copying who): Creed’s Bois du Portugal and Roja’s Danger pour Homme. I suggest to all readers of this review to try to make that comparison.
Globally this EDP is very elegant and loveable. It’s super versatile besides having a well above average performance, as you can also confirm in the charts. The elegant flask is the candy cherry on top of this fragrance cake. I must as well refer that two months ago I bought the 125 ml EDP flask (non tester) for 23 Euros on line.

There are elements to this fragrance that I like, but it’s got a kind of watery lavender thing that is just so strong I can’t enjoy it. I gave it several wearings over the course of nearly a decade, but eventually swapped it off. I can certainly understand the appeal but it’s just not going to work for me. And I don’t really get a huge similarity to Bois du Portugal, as others do (I didn’t get any watery quality to BdP, for example). I’d rather go for vintage Tiffany for Men.

Lavender powder sprinkled over pomelos/oranges and VERY heavy. Coming back to this one after a number of yrs. And it makes me smile. Same formulation…same solid longevity…moderate/acceptable sillage. I cant complain about this one. Its sorta flawless, inasmuch as it being such a versatile perfume. Classy, old school stuff that reminds me of Dunhill for Men, minus the geranium and leather you find in the Dunhill scent.
as a matter of fact, I cant thank Lalique enough for leaving out the geranium and carnation and roses that you usually smell in perfumes from this era (80s-90s). If those notes had been included, I would’ve left it alone. So, on that basis alone, it drew me in. And to boot, its probably one of the more glamorous bottles you’ll see in perfumery. And I happen to be a ‘Leo’, so thats a plus as well.

So, how can this beauty smell old? Or grandfatherish? So whatever dosnt include crazy amounts of ambroxin smells old now? How is this even possible. This is a masterpiece. I own probably 150-160 fragrances. Yes the journey will never stop. And this one is one of those few that i can’t ever get tired of. This is a masterpiece of a fragrance. Pure class! And compliments out of the roof. 10/10

Reading through some of these reviews I have to scratch my head and wonder what people are smelling! Now, before you blast me on this I know everyone has their own opinion and they are intitled to it. No problem. But old? Granny? Skanky? I’m sorry, I don’t get ANY of that from this.
This is old school and masculine. It is a fragrance for “the man.” I have both the EDT and the EDP and yes, the EDP is a much better scent, but they are both nice. The EDP is my go to scent when I want to be taken seriously, when I want to be seen as having my stuff together.
It is classy and refined, suitable for guys 30 and over who aren’t into the super sweet fragrances or ambroxan bombs we get so much of today.
It is a love for me and in my top 5 all time.

This one surprised me a lot. I have a pack that has four of the Lalique scents in it and can’t say I liked either of the Encre Noir ones, I live in a wooded, mountain area so wood scents don’t do much for me. The “white” version also didn’t impress since all I smell is wood, maybe cedar.
But this “lion” version works very well on me. It surprises me to see Bois du Portugal in the similar scents. I have been wearing BdP for over a decade and don’t smell the similarity but do smell a similarity to Roja Dove’s Danger. This is what I’m getting, a little cedar when first sprayed but it was gone in no time, now it’s a lavender, iris and vanilla scent. It’s not a Dior Iris or even Prada Iris but it’s a nice scent overall. I don’t think that could have worked out better since I was hoping the lion was good enough to buy a bottle of. Could there be a little Jaipur in the lion? I like it.

Used this as a bathroom deodorizer only after getting that ‘skank’, Lol. I see i’m not alone. I personally define This skank as a ‘granny’s make-up bag/stale ladies face powder’ note..
Thank goodness it doen’t smell that bad on skin, as the rosemary balances it out..although i feel it could use more of it. With the amounts used however, it stays on the cusp of being a love or hate. If it weren’t for the rosemary i would have chucked it. Rosemary being one of my favorite notes, now it’s enjoyable and no longer has some.. toilet deodorizer ranking:)

Dusty, french, rustical house with the old garden and cellar. The one you always wanted to have when you’d grow old.
It’s just like memories of the places you’ve never been.
    40+/spring, EDP. The great one.

Here I thought I was done with fragrances, and I get this one as a blind buy/gift. I put it on my amazon wish list based almost wholly upon people thinking that this reminds them of Creed Bois du Portugal – the only Creed I really like. Does it remind me of Bois du Portugal? No.
It opens weird – strongly citrus but also somewhat skanky. It’s somewhat off-putting. But that soon dries down into a nice, traditional and classy men’s scent with lavender and vanilla in the lead. (I don’t really get the woodsy notes.)
I think my daughter paid less than $30 for the 100ml bottle. Wow. Well done, Lalique! (I also once had – and liked – my bottle of Encre Noire.)
    ———
I’m about 20% through my bottle; I have come to like this a lot! It’s a nice vanilla variation.

What starts as a fruity-fresh take on one of my favorite fragrant themes – Lavender Vanilla – becomes a woody scent with an amber aura and a plastic/rubber accord.
It’s nice but too formal, nondescript and restrained for my taste.

    Eau de Parfum edition:
This really is very well done. If you’re into off the shelf fragrances it may challenge you, but give the notes a chance to paint a whole picture. And who doesn’t want an awesome concave etched Lion bottle in their collection? Leo’s everywhere will believe (once again) that the world really is here just for them.
The ‘Old Paper’, ‘Dusty/musty’ vibe might come from the combination effect of selected aromatics that can give such a result. Luca Turin touches on it in reference to Lignin, the chemical that keeps trees evergreen. It (Lignin) also smacks of vanillin, lending an olde world bookshop/library feel to scents if included.
I’m ignorant of the fact if Lignin has been added as a single ingredient (who knows?), but there’s an interplay with the wood/vanilla/rosemary notes that starts this one of in that way and only the perfumer could tell you if that was the desired effect or it might be a coincidental result of the raw materials used.
The notes are all listed, but this strikes me as special because it seems to be coming at me or from behind me after a while, rather than from/off me.
It’s a traveller’s delight, giving you a pocket book description of the individual notes, or one can simply sit back and enjoy the ride.
The dry down is an almost polar opposite of the opening, super soft woods, vanilla and amber-musk console even the most ardent critics of olde worlde smells.
Like anything that works, it’s probably been canned/is a bit hard to find at the right price point, but well worth it if you do see it.Worth it for the bottle, even if it’s not your style.
Not an everyday scent for me, but a ’round the house, I’ll be in the library if you need me Jeeves kind of affair.
Stocking up on this one.Like,Like,Like it!

Really love the bottle. The juice, however, is another story. A masculine, dusty aromatic that smells “old” like a basement or grandma’s closet. A pass for me.

    Sentence Summary:
Smells like a Scout jumble sale in an old church.
Goes on slightly skanky, then I get a musty, dusty, antiquey vibe, mixed with an old school gentlemanly cologne type smell. It seems to change a lot throughout, and dries down to a lovely light woods, vanilla, and incense base. I got it out of TK Maxx* for £14.99 (EDT), which is an absolute steal.
    Overall rating 7/10
    * In The USA TK Maxx is called TJ Maxx (Spelling error?)
Presumably they also sell similar items, like Sets of Jnives, ladies Jnickers and other assorted Jnick Jnacks?

    Hidden Gem
One of the best classic aromatic scents I have ever smelled.
It smells beautiful with well blended herbs, lavender and citrus. This one is bright and a lovely summer aromatic.
This fragrance reminds me of incense at times.
This is so well blended and made , I could use the word polished. It is fairly linear , but it smells so natural.
Another fragrance that could be called a modern classic and I will be buying a back-up bottle in the future.
Can be found at discount prices and is Niche quality.

Agree with other comments: opening is weird. It reminds me of wet paper. But after only a couple of minutes this smell fades away, and a nice trio of vanilla, lavender and citruses come to stage.
The quality of the ingredients is high, nothing harsh. After a couple of hours, it settles down on its wood-amber base.
It got me a compliment on my first day of wearing this. It contains pretty “classic” ingredients such as lavender, oak moss and cedar. So smells a bit vintage, but I like it. I am very pleased with its sillage and longevity, better than average.
It might be suitable for a blind buy, but you should not have a problem with old school fragrances.

Just got my bottle of the EDP and this is my first full day wear. I’m about 6 hours in and it’s still detectable on my skin/clothes. Projected very well for the first few hours.
The scent was not what I was expecting to be honest. Upon first spray I was a little disappointed but now my opinion has changed after full wearing.
It definitely feels mature. I would say 30+ Not really old school or new school.
somewhere between drakkar noir and Prada Lhomme.
Ithe opening is beautiful. A musky citrus. It dried down to a lavender sandalwoody scent. I love it!
It’s really a beautiful scent. The lavender reminds me of Prada Lhomme. The scent of course is way different. I’m very happy I bought this.
I will continue to wear this and see how it works for me but right now it’s a top notch! For the price point, I would say it’s a an excellent choice for someone who likes a gentlemanly fragrance but doesnt want to break the bank. Unique compared to today’s offerings.
    Also the bottle is beautiful!!!!

Man Lalique is on fire !!
This one starts a bit like the 80’s powerhouse type of scent
Becomes subtle cooler woody elegant after an hour or so. Dries down to a classy smell yet contemporary. Bit like rive gauche by YSL. (In terms of how it changes)
Overall I would not call this dated but does start of with that kind of vibe.
    Very gentlemanly, well blended, airy.
    Very well done fuogere
    I like it a lot
    Mature above 25+
    Masculine
    Perfect for office

I get wood/iris with lavender in support. The citrus is subdued with the pomelo note playing a part. It took me a few wears to know pomelo was the mystery player in the citrus medley. The wood and iris are the stars here. The scent is never generic. It displays tons of character in the first instant. It is fairly unique and a great scent with classy and elevated feel.
Presentation is also phenomenal. When I replace this, the bottle will be kept for display somewhere. It is a fine addition to the Lalique glasswork tradition.
I bought this based on my respect for RobbieX (someone get that man some SOAP!) and Maurice Roucel and the price was very reasonable, which is a great selling point for Lalique. Excellence at a fair price.

A clean, fresh woody citrus that is totally beautiful and unique. It’s a soapy scent that lasts with the iris playing its part. There is just a touch of cedar and vanilla in the clean dry down which works beautifully. Lalique pour Homme is just a lovely perfume.

Like other reviewers, this wasn’t a “love at first whiff” for me, but having worn it a couple of times, I can now say that I truly enjoy this one. It’s an elegant fragrance that will work well in the office and out and about. the combination of lavender and cedar give it a vibe similar to the great scents of the seventies. Don’t get me wrong, however, this is not outdated or mature at all. it’s feels more like someone wanted to take a classic seventies scent and make it modern…and they succeeded. another win for Lalique…

Wow this is very similar to Caron PH, which i like…so that’s a good thing. I haven’t tested this on skin yet but i’ll go as far to say it’s more refined. Upon a few sprays i get Caron PH minus that scratchiness, that can make the user / usee cough some lol. The bottle/cap color sure doesn’t do any justice. You’d never guess how this smells by the color of the bottle. But it’s about the juice inside that matters.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

This one is an acquired taste. Starts generic but undergoes an evolution throughout. I probably won’t be wearing this one regularly but it’s not bad.
The initial scent is extremely dirty/green and citric with a tinge of rosemary… It’s okay but nothing I would write home to mom about. You give it about 15 minutes and it becomes a great deal more pleasant. Classy, even. The dirty feeling almost all but goes away. Gives way to some florals. The base is all the vanilla, sandalwood goodness you would ever want and it lasts awhile. Similar to D&G The One or other mature, amber/vanilla/tobacco based scents. Unfortunately, this one would be better off as a linear vanilla/sandlwood scent than what it is.
I got about 8 hours out of it, decent sillage. For the price tag on an EDP, I’d say this is worth it. I enjoy it even though it’s not a signature, for me.

A cool old-school scent that’s still fresh and versatile … 35 and older crowd (but wear what you want of course). Some feel it could be unisex; however IMO its traditional and masculine woody character better suits and complements the professional well-dressed man who can think for himself.
Not a huge fan of vanilla but as the scent progresses the vanilla becomes very subdued and plays a harmonious/supporting role to the gorgeous cedar and florals in the middle … and amber, oakmoss and sandalwood in the base. Completely smooth and refined. Reminds me a little of Chanel Egoiste without the cinnamon.
This exquisite composition of notes and upper-shelf bottle presentation seem so much more expensive than it actually is. Great great value. Can’t wait to try Lalique ‘Equus’ next which apparently is even woodier. One can only feel rich wearing Lalique … a keeper!

This one has the feel of the great era of masculines, i.e. Aramis, Gentlemen, Azzaro etc. I thought Escada Homme was the last in line, but this one came later. Either way, it’s great. Get it as long as it’s still on the shelves!

The lion on this bottle is to warn you that if you wear this fragrance you will feel majestic and regal, just like the king of the jungle himself! The opening is like witnessing the strongest, longest handshake between citrus and lavender ever imagined! LPH then progresses to a trip to the lumber yard with the arrival of the cedar and sandalwood. This fragrance is robust and each wave of notes feels like they are delivered like a punch, or dropped on you like a dump truck (IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE). When the florals finally arrive, it feels like they are being tossed at you to congratulate you. Okay, hyperbole aside the florals come in perfectly, with iris and jasmine up front and center, giving your nose and senses a cool down. The dry down stays woody and sweet with some amber, patchouli and vanilla. LPH is all that and a bag of chips! It is rich, elegant and totally Lalique! Quality and affordability make this fragrance easily full bottle worthy! This scent is perfect for winter and spring, and should be worn when you’re rocking some plaid and you just finished a long hike!

Lalique pour Homme “lion” for me such a nostalgic scent…lavender note quite prominent and bit resembles to Caron pour un Homme but woodier. Sandalwood note appears in small portion but detectable, gives the royal impression to this handsome fragrance. Performance is good on me, moderate longevity and projection, and not to mention great bottle!

I bought this last summer, only because I spotted a great deal, wanted to sample some more of Lalique’s offerings (had only tried EN previously) and took the plunge.
An initial underwhelming experience seems to be common based on so many comments. It was no different for me. I sampled my EDP bottle as soon as I got it after a day at work. The opening seemed bitter and overly smoky for my taste. I was unhappy, but not extremely demoralized as I’d paid so little for it. I attributed it immediately as a winter scent and promised myself to give it another shot when the time came, so it sat in my “winter” bin (yes, I am THAT guy 🙂 and waited…
January 2017, I unpack my winter scents, moving the fall-only stuff into the now empty bin and proceed to rediscover some of my old favorites and delve into some of those I feel I owe a fresh shot to – and one of those is this EDP.
Like I have with others, I snap-judged this one in that summer long-gone. It seemed too smoky on the opening – and I have no doubt it was compared to the fresh, citrus stuff I invariably become accustomed to in the summer heat. Taken on its own and in the right time, it’s not too smoky – it’s magnificent, with an off-dry opening but not too much so – with a middle accord that still has me mesmerized.
It really must be smelled to be believed, but after the opening it becomes a semi-sweet and somewhat soft but just-masculine aroma that is so expertly blended I can’t even begin to describe by notes – its accords are boozy yet tart/sour, sweet but with a hint of something like incense. I think it’s much closer to a sweet fougere than other woody-aromatics, but the woody base is unmistakable. It’s definitely for a mature, self-assured person (it’s plainly unisex IMO). I also get the “serious” description from some of you. It’s certainly not aloof or a scent that young adults would use before they launch into an indulgent evening of frolicking.
This is a great light-projection workday smell, a great book-reading, day-on-the-town or dinner-at-home scent. It’s relaxing, sedate and comfortable. This is also a scent that proves that, provided you don’t get roped into trends, you can enjoy perfumery as a hobby without breaking the bank.

It’s tender , mild and I can tell everyone that I’m wearing the finest perfume today without saying a word , just smell and feel it , it’s like the lion that’s aggressive but never moving on its own ! I will tell Lalique, Well Done!! I surely will wear it everyday but I still won’t use it as my date perfume , it still will be Chanel Sport eau Extreme . 9/10

I don’t get any citrus out of it, the opening is very very green and a little harsh, I guess it is the rosemary. It keeps the green aspect but after 30 minutes the cedar comes in and takes the lead making this a balanced fresh green woody scent. In the dry down it gets a bit sweeter, it must be the vanilla and the flowers.

I wear cologne every day at work and people have come accustomed to that. This is the first day I have had a chance to wear this this year due to the cold weather and what do you know, a dude came into my office and said, “now that smells good”. Coming from one of our maintenance personnel, it says a lot. I have three from this house and I think this one is my favorite. Very dark dense woods with a hint of spice. I have the edp version.
    9/10

Sour citrus vanilla oakmoss barbershop scent. Love or hate fragrance, but l like it.
Quality of this fragrance can not be denied. Longevity and projection is excellent.
Multi- level fragrance. Does start off like a “bug spray”/”Raid” vibe lol. Don’t get nervous though. It last like a minute while the fragrance does its thing.
Adjectives: fatherly, Classy, sophisticated, respectful, serious.
It is a good work or family outing fragrance. Also, it is a good special occasion fragrance too.
If you like classic 100% man scent, pull the trigger.
It makes me think of a lawyer, accountant, or manager type of scent.
Not for teenagers. If you think you are an aristocrat, this is you too
8/10 love or hate though. Sample 1st.

I underestimated this one. Now I really like it.
At first, I thought the opening was dated for a late ’90s scent. The big hit of citrus, rosemary and lavender is reminiscent of the fougeres of the previous decade, but feels out of place without the bold, macho heart and base notes that underpinned Lalique’s powerhouse predecessors. Persevere into the dry drown, and you are greeted with a pleasantly soapy vanilla and lavender scent, with a nice twist of cedar. I thought it was good, but the seemingly out of place opening made me dislike it.
I stuck with this one, however, and I’m glad I did, because the opening makes much more sense after a few wears. I eventually realised that the opening notes are necessary to add a lighter touch to the dry down – they lend a contemporary sharp, herbal, citric feel to an otherwise traditional barbershop-fougere core of vanilla and lavender. The result is a very masculine scent that nods to the past while still delivering the freshness that became de rigueur among ’90s scents. It’s a nice balancing act, and it makes Lalique remarkably wearable, even by today’s tastes – if one gets past the opening.
Overall performance is moderate, with fairly tame projection but decent longevity. The ingredients are of good quality, especially for the price, as is the solid bottle, of course. Overall, it’s a nice, versatile fresh scent with just enough uniqueness to warrant a place on a collector’s shelf. Great for cooler weather and evenings, too.

Its one of those perfumes. Where you have to develop a nose for it. Its fresh but for spring and fall for summers its ok, but not recommended. Although its has a tiny tiny bit of female vibe to it but over all its a pure male 30 and above perfume.
Occasion would be office where you have controlled environment. For out door use its ok but not recommended. Date scent no not at all.
Classic scent dont over spary it. In the dry down trasition journey you may smell it a bit like a bug spary. But when it becomes a skin scent iis amazing. Price i paid is aboUt 37 US.

ok, stop everything!! WOW this scent is so good!! It’s fresh, sweet, aromatic and slightly woody!Very Classic and elegant but in a modern key. I can see it as wonderful business scent or as a fantastic scent for a special evening.
It lasts for a resonable amount of time (6-8 H) and has a moderate sillage.
Very interesting scent, as i said classy but sensual too.
    Not expensive but extremely good.
    7,5/10!
    Nice job Lalique!

This is a wonderful, calming, comforting scent. It gives me the confidence to handle “this” whatever “this” may be. It starts off a fresh lavender that gives way to a woody floral that drys to a sweeter woody floral. Most of the reviews say this is definitely masculine but I have a sneaky suspicion that this would be pretty sexy on a female. More testing is required.
