Pfu! 2018 buy – reformulated … This fragrance is dead!!! Two years ago was so fruty and balsamic … Now just a blend that folds for 2 hours … No way a parfume!

God, why? Why almost ALL the fragrances I appreciate, have the performance issues? Is there some conspiracy behind it? Well, whatever. La Nuit De L’Homme Le Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent has hella sexy DNA, similar with La Nuit De L’Homme EDT, but more fruity and floral. Smells very gently, soft and relaxed, but doesn’t lose its sexiness. If I would make a top of the best dating fragrances – Le Parfum would make it without any hesitations. But…yeah. The performance could be much, MUCH better. That’s why, only 8/10.

Has 45 minutes longevity on me or after that I cannot smell it any more. I do not think I am going nosmic, because it projected moderately or even softly to begin with.
I get a fruity, sweet, and tonka heavy la nuit with the aromatic and spicy nature stripped away.
This fragrance could have been something special. All you had to do YSl was to add more patchouly to this or a stronger tonka note with tobacco. Forget adding more sweetness, it already had enough, but you could have went the route of gourmand with vetiver and vanilla.
You can hire and train me, I am available YSL

Very fruity and also get the scent of pepper. Definitely suited for night time use or a business meeting. A like from me not my favorite but not bad at all. Awful projection though.

not same same as the EDT, this one is more frutty, longevity and sillage are terrible
10 Minutes after and I cant smell it…

Have you ever had a first-time use that made you stop and write down your thoughts? A few weeks ago, I reviewed the YSL La Nuit Ultime. It was a new scent to me since I had only smelled La Nuit EDT and YSL Pour Homme EDT. The Ultime drydown was good and the longevity was good too but I still preferred YSL La Nuit EDT.
I picked up a small one ounce bottle of this Le Parfum version and made a mistake in testing it. After a few hours of having it on, I dosed off for a 3 hour nap. When I first sprayed it on, it reminded me of expensive, vintage colognes. Vintage for me would be 1970s/80s. I don’t know what all phases it went through but I woke up from the nap and was shocked. The drydown, at the very least, is sweet and vetiver, it instantly reminded me of my late father and late uncle. This drydown is the scent I remember them wearing on New Year’s Eve (late 70s – mid-80s). I remember it because they would always hug me and I would think, “You all use too many sprays!” It’s expensive, rich (in figurative texture). Dad kept his bottles of cologne on a shelf in his bedroom and whichever one created this scent is one he only used 3-4 times a year. My uncle, mom’s brother, lived with us and would use a few sprays of it too on those special occasions. I love the memory it brought back. I haven’t smelled this drydown in decades. And it was an overwhelming memory for me. My dad passed away in the mid-80s, way too early in his life (early to mid-40s) and it just left me speechless, so I started writing. Being a psychologist/therapist takes me to different places in thoughts, even dreams and so does the drydown of this cologne.
Having said that, I’ll keep this small bottle around and see if I can’t find a special occasion or two to wear it at. I can’t see using it everyday or even once a month. I can tell you which colognes I remember my dad having and you can figure one of them is the one with this exact scent: Dior Eau Sauvage (70s bottle), don’t think it was that one but the vetiver in this does have some similarities to it. I also remember him having a Dior that I just found out was re-released a few years ago called Jules. Dior was very high-end in the 70s and early 80s, so it might have been the Jules but if I had to guess, I would say it’s either a 70s/80s vintage of Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur or the better bet would be Guerlain’s Vintage Derby. A great memory for me and I can appreciate the cheap price I got this 1 ounce bottle for (35 USD). This drydown is a scent I had completely forgotten until now.

Very nice scent, but the projection SUCKSSSSSS

It’s very easy to love it
It has that spicy vibe at the beginning then it starts to get sexier and sexier
    It last 7-9 hours max
    Sillage is 7/10
As it’s called la nuit so it’s a night out fragrance

  9. :

modern, fresh, spicy (pepper here is a very tamed one), slightly sweet oriental, projection is ok, longevity on my skin is great (more than 14 hours), overall nice scent, suitable for romantic occasions, recommended age range: 25 and up

Smell: 8,5 (don’t over spray!; reminds me of spicebomb mixed with la nuit; kinda a more spicier version of edt)
Longevity: 3,5/5 (Not a beast but I was surprised lasts like 5-6 hours with good sillage)
Sillage: 3,5/5 (1 hour is almost not even funny!!! It was very strong but fades away into a dark mysterious smell with normal sillage, after 4 hours it’s kinda a faded scent but you know still there)
Compliments: Never got a compliment but I think the reason is not the performance, it’s because I live in Germany and many people here are not that “warm” to give you a complinent…no kidding!!!
A good scent, but not my favourite flanker! The DNA of EdT is like making 20% of the smell! It’s not soft or seductive anymore like EdT it’s more mysterious, spicy and warmer…but still sexy. Can be cloying and can be aggressive in the beginning. First I thought this is like water but then you kinda get to know it and appreciate it. Longevity is good on me, but every La Nuit scent is kinda ok on me just the L’homme flankers and L’homme itself is horrible…ok, L’homme L’intense was kinda good but still the rest wasn’t really a good performace on me…
It’s worth a buy imo but test it before you buy this as it is not like La Nuit at all!!!

    Underrated beauty.
It has the cardamom/Lavender DNA of the original La Nuit but this one is more fruity and feels more thick despite its average performance.
    Elegant and masculine.

I’m a little torn about this one. On the one hand, I most assuredly find it to be a lovely, sexy, warm and inviting scent, but on the other, it’s rather lacking in longevity and the dynamism I’ve come to expect from the fragrances in its price range.
The opening here is nice. A quick shiver of bergamot quickly dissipates bringing a warming pepper and anise to the fore. Lavender then comes forward, beginning this fragrances most impressive stage. With the floral element settling into the background to join the opening’s happily persistent persistent spices, the “fruity notes” some to the fore. Whoever chooses the notes to include on these pyramids was being very apt in choosing such a vague descriptor here. I can’t help but be reminded somewhat of mincemeat pie when i smell it. This isn’t to say that lNdlH particularly smells like mincemeat pie. It’s simply that spiced fruits are completely indistinct from each other in this scent. You can recognize it as fruit, perhaps identify the odd raisin here or there, but is all be macerated together to the point of becoming its own unique thing; there’s undeniably a restrained sweetness, but it’s not a confection that the kids will be rushing for after Christmas dinner. I get maybe an hour or so of this in all it’s glory (and it is very glorious). A bit of heat really energizes this fragrance. Throwing on your winter coat and taking a brisk walk sometimes refreshes the experience to a surprising extent. For the most part though, it’s a fairly steep if smooth slide into the drydown. Or at least what there is of one. The vanilla is very much there, but it’s soft. Perhaps even too soft. The listed patchouli and vetiver are there too, but I have to almost bury my nose into the my skin to perceive it. Within 4-5 hours it’s essentially gone.
This fragrance doesn’t project terribly far, but that’s probably a good thing. It feels most appropriate for warm rooms on cold days or close encounters. That’s all well and good, but in combination with the short lifespan and almost imperceptible end-stage, it really limits the perfume’s versatility. A romantic date or some sort of crowded but formal evening event are the only real public uses for this one unless you’ll be carrying a bottle around with you. It’s certainly a nice one to enjoy for yourself with a nice drink on a quiet evening at home too (extra marks if you have a fireplace). This relatively short list is probably the main reason I’m unlikely to repurchase this scent once I run out. There are plenty of close-wearing, sexy yet unobtrusive scents I could purchase. I’ll still be able to enjoy a lot of them on some level at the end of the workday if I happen to feel like putting that sort of thing on on a Tuesday morning. I’ll probably have to use less for that effect too. And there’s good chance that more sparingly-used fragrance cost less in the first place too. I’ll enjoy it while I have it, but until I have enough disposable income to and to my collection at will, I simply have to be more discerning of value in what I buy.
Seriously though, that bit with the spiced fruit is really, really good.

The definition of sexy in a fragrance for sure

  16. :

I like this better than the edt, it is more designated as a night out fragrance to me,yes the scent has no longevity of strong silage, but scent embodies you thru the evening if sprayed enough, fruit blast goes away and what mostly smell is the spicy notes and labdanum which is quite complementing to nose,a decent low key spice fragrance that should not be ignored by any means.

  17. :

Very masculine though not offensive at all . maybe it would be the best perfume in my life but because of it is weak longevity it cant be at the top! but you have to buy it:) . Also it is very attractive for ladies 😉

Wow, wow, wow. Yes I am “almost” speechless. Much fuller, much more interesting than…you guessed it, the original la Nuit. Not that I don’t like the original…I do, but this one is just outstanding.
YSL has finally made a flanker that carries out what it actually should; the exact “La Nuit De L’Homme” DNA. it’s a rare thing nowadays 🙂

If you want to give a chance to this parfum, you have to analyze it independently of any other fragrance.La Nuit de L`Homme Le Parfum is a seductive, beautiful and sensual scent of the night.Reminds me a little bit of a romantic gentleman looking for true love.Highly recommend this one.

Le Parfum – Great Fragrance! (La Eau de Toilette – also a great fragrance)
I prefer the EDP to EDT, although I own both.
Both have a bit of performance issues on some skin types. The EDP has slightly less sillage than the EDT. That’s perfectly natural as thay are two different fragrances and it’s not just a matter of concentration.
    How to extend the sillage?
    1) The first trick is to layer both fragrances – 2 sprays each in two different spots. I prefer in my hair over the ears.
    2) The second trick is to use them without layering but applying 2 sprays on clothes besides the 2 sprays in each of the body spots.

  23. :

The scent itself is just amazing, we all clearly agree on that. The compliments I get on this,my God!
The performance,EDP concentration, they say…and they are right, it lasts for sure.
Sillage is almost non existent, just when I get a slight whiff,it escapes me time after time. There’s no cloud around you when you wear this BUT…
Projection is where it shines BRIGHT!
I got complimented from 5 or so feet away, 7 hours after spraying. I would have forgotten the fact that I was wearing cologne two hours after spraying, if it wasn’t for the constant compliments to remind me!
It is much like Terre d’Hermes in that behavior,on my skin.
I prefer a cloud around me when wearing cologne though.
    Amazing scent, I love it!

It’s nice but the original La Nuit (before the reformulation) is far superior to this flanker. The original gets me more compliments than any other winter fragrance I own, and it’s currently my wife’s favorite which she insists I only wear when we go out for the evening during winter season or late fall. I wore Lanuit de L’Homme Le Parfum a few times last winter and it just did not jive with me or my wife. It’s too fruity on my skin for the first hour or so. Is does dry down to a nice oriental spice after a couple hours but then turns into a skin scent about the 3rd hour. The short longevity is not a big issue because I usually carry along a 10ml travel atomizer. Nonetheless, I ended up trading it for Hugo Boss Bottled Intense, which I liked much better.

  25. :

    4 out of 5

Nice scent.. Its masculine and doesn’t smell much like the original la nuit. The fruity notes fade and this is more masculine yet clean and somewhat dark. It almost has a menthol vibe about it but in a good way. Interesting fragrance. The performance seems eh.. Not too bad.. YSL is notorious for horrendous performing fragrances on my skin.. I would put this in the average range.
    Scent 4/5
    Performance 3/5

  26. :

    5 out of 5

Disappointed with this fragrances performance. Smell is nice when first sprayed and the expectation of longevity is there as this is an EDP. For me, not so much the case. The projection wears off after an hour or so with only a skin scent remaining for about 3 hours.

after 15 minutes of wearing this master peace you can really enjoy it

Before I admit that my nose wasn’t mature, I said something about this perfume having unnatural (synthetic) note of pepper, and that’s its weakness.
Now I know that I was quite mistaken. all the notes smells natural, but in that time I couldn’t tell that the dirt notes here were too strong (Patchouli plus Vetyver)
Sure a lot of people like that, but I prefer the scent to be a little less earthy, that’s all.
And now my bottle’s empty, I long for it.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

surprisingly I liked this EDP more than the EDT. This is special, some people wear perfume for everyone but this one you wear it for a specific person, the only lady that you love and think about. It is very masculine but not in an aggressive way. this is smart masculinity. this is simply to say to the women you love that you are unique. it has all the strength points of the EDT and it has its own charm as well. this is for yourself and the lady your are with all olone .

  30. :

    3 out of 5

I had never paid attention to all of those YSL flankers, until I met my best friend’s boyfriend, who was wearing this one. I was totally blown away by the masculinity of this perfume, its longevity and its radiation! It is really masculine, it reminds me a bit of those old 70s perfumes while succeeding to stay current. There is some original La Nuit de L’ Homme DNA in it, noticeable only if you overspray this one, something that I don’t recommend, you only need a maximum of two sprays to enjoy its full glory.
*This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

    I thought I’d offer another woman’s perspective!
I absolutely love love love this divine concoction. My husband has worn the original for a while and I loved it! I was horrified when we found out it had been replaced and initially I wasn’t sold but fast forward to now and I have nothing but ‘Wow!” to say about it.
Think Daniel Craig as James Bond: all class, very sexy wearing a perfectly tailored Italian suit looking effortlessly cool and ready to save the world

  32. :

A little trick I learned from Mr. Max Forti on YouTube… layer this with the original La Nuit De L’homme. I am not much for layering my fragrances, but this works out very well IMO.

  33. :

All I’ll say about this fragrance is this:
I was dumb enough to blind-buy this for about 80 euro’s. With about 90% of the juice left, I sold it online to someone last week for 25 euro’s. In my opinion this fragrance isn’t worth more then 20/25 euro’s.
The first time you smell it, you’ll probably like it. After 3 or 4 wearings, this (cheap) smell will probably start to irritate you. A lot. Performance is a total joke too.
What a weak, cheap perfume this is. Whatever you do, don’t ever buy it. Completely overhyped fragrance, so is the EDT version of this. Much better fragrances out there, folkes.

    this is a great fragrance
Somewhat fruity, spicy and darker than the original la nuit de l’homme!
A nice scent that people notice
Better projection than the original 2-3 sprays
Dates, night outs, formal events even office for someone older duirng the day but You don’t wear this fragrance if you’re missing attention (Instead wear A*men and those projector bomb)
    Good compliment getter from ladies
I got great longevity 8 to 10 hours

Picture a hot guy at the bar in a corner who keeps staring at you. You want to go over and talk to him but cannot. You are unable to look him in the eye. His piercing eyes will see into your soul. You want him. You know he may be dangerous, his aloofness confuses you. Yet you want him. He’s dark, mysterious, gloomy, he talks to no one, he just stares at you. Damn he’s good looking. You know you’ll get hurt, you want him still. Picture that; Picture La Nuit de L’homme Le Parfum…

I gave this multiple full wears in different occasions (work, night out.. Etc)
Guys, this is amazing! It definitely has huge resemblance to thr original but I keep thinking it’s worth the money.
It’s a tuned up version with more darkness.
Projects very well in the first couple of hours then calms down a bit for about 5 to 6 hours more. By the 9th hour it becomes a skin scent. It’s always awesome and mysteriously sexy in all its stages.
On clothes, it remains for days.
    I recommend wholeheartedly!!

  42. :

    4 out of 5

If your thinking of buying this and think it’s a intense version of the Original la nuit de l’homme EDT, DON’T BUY IT!
This is the first fragrance I bought in my fragrance-journey, because of the enormous hype that YouTube reviewers were creating. I thought this must of been some kind of heavenly masterpiece.
Well, it is most definitely not! I’ve had it for about 2 weeks now, and I have to say I’m not very impressed.
The opening of this scent is actually very good, but it becomes a skin scent soon after spraying it on yourself. This is unacceptable I think, considering this is a PARFUM! These are supposed to last even longer then EDT’s!
Really, this scent is not worth the money at all. I used to own ‘F by Ferragamo’ (which costs about 1/6 of the price) and it got me waaay more compliments then La Nuit de l’homme.
I think la nuit is a very feminine smelling scent. My girlfriend really hates me wearing it.
From now one I’ll only buy cheaper frangrances, as they get u just as much if not more compliments then the expensive frangrances like LNDL.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

This flanker suffers more in the shadow of the original’s hype than it should. Le Parfum is clearly influenced by La Nuit de L’Homme (original), but yields a dark (think dried fruit; not fresh cut fruit) fruity nuance which makes it distinct.
The first 3 hours this fragrance readily jumps off my skin and has a moderate sillage. Though after that time period, people can still pick up the scent while I walk about or when they’re in my “bubble.”
Overall, if you liked the original or fruity and smooth fragrances, this is at least worth a shot!
With the previous comments presented, I’ll be adopting a hamster.

Love this fragrance and it would seriously be one of my top ranked scents. It’s basically a spicier (almost peppery) version of the original. Kind of like those Coke gummies. As everyone else has stated though; the longevity is not the best. It literally disappears after an hour without a trace. It’ll last longer on clothing, but man do I wish that this was a little heavier with longevity.

  46. :

    5 out of 5

@subaruguy34 definitely different from all other La Nuit brothers from the line. I love EDT, Intense and Frozen Cologne flankers but EDP smells on me like rancid sour dry fruit compote 😀 All in all I gave it a chance and bought a bottle using from time to time…
I think it is addressed to more mature audience.
I can not stop laughing on “hamster cage” comparison LOL

One of my top noticed scents by everyone! Such a lovely smell, but I will never buy it again because it’s performance for a EDP is a total joke! Once again shame on ysl

  49. :

Weak sauce! This sauce is weak! For an EDP the performance is abysmal. The scent is amazing though.

  50. :

    4 out of 5

OK… This is one of the most complemented perfumes that I have! It develops great on my skin, but after 5-6 hours it is more close to skin type of perfume! I am in great dilemma will I get another one after this go empty! For a parfum version… The longevity and projection are laughable! Maybe not again but I will have it again… But now I will try the frozen cologne

I purchased a sample of this on Bonanza and it’s incredibly sexy! This EDP version really lasts, unlike the reformulated EDT.

Oh man, do I love this fragrance.
It carries all the qualities of the original La Nuit de l’Homme but to my nose that one is just too sweet, albeit very well done.
La Nuit de l’Homme Le Parfum brings more gritty and dirty notes to the game without departing too much from the original. Making this one a bit of a bad boy and decidedly more masculine than the original.
Masculine, spicy (vanilla & cardamon), dirty (leather, ash, smoke?)… this is my new signature. I just can’t stop smelling myself while wearing this.

I just sold this baby. It was the first fragrance I bought on my fragrance journey. We had great times especially on dates and during the summer heat days. In the summer, Le Parfum is a near perfect scent. During the winter I stopped wearing her and that was mainly because she was less sweet. The reason I finally let go off this fragrance is because I rarely interacted with her anymore. Sometimes she is too earthy and bitter, and these periods do not outweigh the sweet phases. I have better fragrances for any occasion, and do not want to deal with skin scents.
To the person that acquired my bottle, take good care of her. She may not be perfect now, but in my eyes she was at the start.
Listening to With or Without You (U2) fits my experience with this fragrance to the bone.
    Farewell sweet princess.

This is an extremely-well done but generic spicy oriental fougere. I’d probably classify this as an oriental spicy, because it smells super similar to Old Spice and fragrances like that. It’s the same “style” as that to my nose. Which makes it super generic and boring, but hey if you like this kind of thing you may love this one.
This fragrance is mature, sophisticated, and spicy. I do not consider it an ‘everyday’ scent. I also do not like this scent as I have nothing to wear it with, it’s for someone older than I am (31), and it is not appropriate for any settings in my life. I suppose this is something meant to be worn while dressing-up in a business setting and perhaps on a date.
To my nose, this is nothing like the original La Nuit. You can sense about 10% of the DNA, but that’s where it ends. It’s a totally different style fragrance. And it doesn’t have that sexy, mysterious, cardamom sweetness. The dry-down on this lasts ages and ages.
My overall opinion is to pass on this unless you like an “old-school” style cologne. I have no use for this fragrance and it’s not good enough for me to try and find a use for it either.
    7/10 for quality.
2/10 for usefulness for anyone under age 50.

This is a superlative scent: perhaps the best in the entire line. I like that it’s in an EDP concentration, but isn’t heavy or overbearing. It’s the perfect scent for fall/winter, and it works in the spring if it’s cooler and raining. Granted, it’s too strong for summer usage and becomes cloying very quickly, but any other time or place is perfect. I don’t think I would advise this for anyone under the age of 30, as it’s quite mature and you have to have a presence and a certain maturity to wear it.

Have this perfume fore about 4 month and i love it!
Only in my opinion the Longevity is a bit short for a EDP, i did not had the EDT but smelled smelled it before.
The EDP has a much warmer tone! so i got the EDP
    Scent 8/10
    Projection 5/10
    Longevity 5/10

Bought this one thinking I’ve ordered the EDT, but I must say this one is a bit different in a good way.
When you spray this, it will remind you a bit of Burberry London’s top notes (that boozy xmas feel) but then this turns into something dry and powdery. I am not much of a fan when it comes to powdery scents, but this one is done a tad right. The base smells almost like cedar and it calms down just a bit.
Longevity and projection is average and you may want to be careful with the trigger on this one since it can become a bit cloying if you over spray your clothes.
I can’t say I am happy to own this one, but I am not disappointed as well. If you own the regular one, test this one first but I wouldn’t buy it if you already love the EDT version.

I bought this YSL La Nuit EdP before it the stateside market, just for the rarity of the flanker. I really didn’t know where to start with wearing it, but figured given awhile I could appreciate it.
Oriental fragrances are a special one to me because they have a magnetic charm about them in a way that really captivates attention from any walk of life. That being said, something about this La Nuit that really stands out from the L’Homme pack. This is distinctively a man’s scent that is dark and alluring. Being a 27 year old I felt that it was out of my depth, and didn’t quite fit my style at the time hence why I was hesitant to use it from the jump. I quite hadn’t made that leap into life where I felt like I wanted to have my cologne make such a huge statement with noses. The sillage is beastly in terms of how it fills a space. I remember the first time wearing this and really comparing it to a Tom Ford, Comme des Garcons, or Creed in terms of strength and power. I could compare it to niche fragrances also, and just found this to be quite unique for the house of YSL.
The spicy, sweet almost boozy, and woody combination really strikes a chord with women. I have never had a scent that makes an introductory statement on such a level.
I guess if Saint Laurent Paris had a scent this would be it. I feel that if Hedi Slimane would want something out under that title and the house conceded that this is Saint Laurent Paris Homme. THROUGH AND THROUGH. It’s got that rock star vibe and attitude. It’s magnetic and alluring. I’m 30 years old and I’m dialed down a bit from the youthful avant garde style to something a little more understated.
