Kitten Fur + Pumpkin Pie + Chai Tea = AMAZING

So I have both bottles of Kitten Fur and Heavenly by Victoria’s Secret on each arm and here’s the verdict. They are in the same family and have a similer vibe but are not the same. Heavenly is more fluid, lighter (softer) and has more of a white cotton smell where as Kitten Fur is waaay warmer, slightly gourmand and has more of a hot cashmere smell. Honestly Kitten Smells like the original Heavenly from the early 2000’s before it was watered down. It’s almost as if Heavenly is an Eau De Toilette and Kitten Fur is an Eau De Paefum.

Blind buy at Marshall’s, 1oz for 5.99. Soft vanilla musk with good longevity and no projection as is typical of Demeter offerings. I do not detect the plastic note referenced by other, more experienced reviewers. This scent is quiet and would be appropriate for a young girl of 10-12. A good present for Christmas, as opposed to the very unappealing Disney character products I have tested. Comforting, “smells nice” and inoffensive.

No, no, and more no. Kitten Fur went in the trash. This is the first time I am typing “scrubber” in a review.
I thought I’d try this for fun since it was cheap at T.J. Maxx. I think I was able to smell the nozzle or something and picked up some light musk. Once Kitten Fur was on my skin it became an overpowering musk that reminded me of “that new car scent.” Synthetic air freshener quality. I love cats (see profile pic). I currently have one who came in from the wild and her light kitty cat musk bears no resemblance to Kitten Fur. I get it, Demeters are supposed to be fun, but there were no literal or interpretive cat vibes here for me to enjoy.
In general I think wearers need to be cautious with musks. I would run far and fast from a man who smelled of Kitten Fur. Think of someone who smells like he rolls around with waaay too many air fresheners in his car. I shudder typing those words. My advice, skip this and find a classic drugstore or health food store musk.

I was looking foward to receiving kitten fur. i love the smell of my cat, and love cats. So i had to try this scent out. I wanted to love this scent but its just not really my cup of tea. I agree with another reviewer here; that it smells masculine kind of spicy/powdery. There is definitely lavender in it somewhere too. But vanilla also. Its very reminiscent of old fashioned mens colognes the powdery lavendar musky ones. This scent to me smells more like attics and something a grandparent would wear. Its not unpleasant though. I kind of like it. But its not something i want to wear.

This smells warm, powdery, musky and vanillic. Totally reminded me of a toned down 212 Sexy Man… Love it. It does have a plasticky (not in a bad way, sort of barbie doll-ish) dry down but i dont mind it. I like that in some fragrances. Tested on my arm. proceeded to orded 60mls.

This smells like baby powder and a cashmere sweater, and kind of like my cat when he was a kitten, so (kind of) spot on. It’s comforting, musky and kind of plastic-y. Very, very weird. I’d sniff it but definitely not worth a full bottle.

I heard about this fragrance several months ago; it sounded fun and I freakin’ love kittens, so when I stumbled on it at a deep discount over the weekend, I HAD to get it. The top notes were . . . OK, powdery, musky and a little sweet, but it quickly dried down to something soapy and plastic–very unpleasant. I really wanted to like it, and I feel terrible leaving a negative review (what sort of monster says anything bad about kitten fur?!) but after much deliberation not even the novelty factor could justify it’s place on my shelf, and I actually returned it. 🙁

I generally like Demeter, despite the low projection and longevity. I understand that their artistic goal is purity of experience. And that the moments of scent exactly capturing what is on the label is all they wanted to create. And, admittedly, my cat is about 9 years old and I don’t remember the last time I smelled an actual kitten. But, I also don’t remember them smelling of rubbing alcohol and plastic. So much alcohol in the opening, lingers for minutes; I’m okay with waiting a bit for a perfume to settle but this felt like it was alcohol forever. And then plasticky. Almost the vibe of a stuffed animal rather than a real actual one? And then it dries down to a banal vanilla musk skin scent. I really feel like I’m missing something; or maybe Demeter is.

I must admit I bought that for the name – Kitten Fur was one I just couldn`t resist.
Not sure actually. Initially, I absolutely loved it – powdery, vanilla, slight musk, something cool which I associate with winter but also a lot of warm tones… Not exactly like my cats, but nice, and very feminine – I would definitely not market this as unisex!!
I found it very long lasting, still smelt it on myself in the afternoon, but somehow I found it slightly less pleasant than I did this morning or last night when I had a first try.
Its probably just a bit young for me (42). I would definitely recommend it, but I`ve got a feeling I will not buy the full size for myself. But that`s what samples are for 🙂

Well never would I have ever thought I would one day be purchasing a fragrance called “kitten fur”..leave it to Demeter!! LOL.. They had a handful of these various Demeter scents at one of those big box discount stores (“never the same place twice”..Umm..yeah, I think it is the same place twice..three times..Anyhoo….)
I saw this “Kitten Fur” and almost put it back down, like I did with the previous 3 or 4 Demeters they had. I was like..”Kitten Fur..??? They’ve GOT to be kidding…???” But, I decided to smell it.. Frag hag in me, you know..
This in the bottle reminded me of how my puppy smelled the day I brought him home (I even asked the rescue lady what she used to bathe him, she just said a Bath and Body Works product).. So because to me, this was pretty much how my puppy smelled when I brought him home, this brings back special memories for me. Silly, but sometimes a fragrance can bring back a happy memory. So I am happy to just have this bottle, and take a whiff now and then (this is a tad/little screechy/harsh on my skin, oddly enough, I must confess), and when I sniff the bottle, I will remember that happy, happy day…Not a kitten…but a puppy. Soft sweet warm smell. “Cuddle me!!” smell.. 🙂
I totally agree that this smells a lot like VS Dream Angels Heavenly when first sprayed. Not a dupe, but I am sure there are some folks out there who, if they would not see both bottles, they might not be able to tell them apart.
I am curious why Demeter does not list notes. Does anyone know the notes here? Decent sillage and longevity is decent. Moderate to heavy, depending how many spritzes you spray.
This dries down ultimately smelling to me like a powdery deodorant. So this is not one I would really wear, but I love it for the nostalgia aspect that it smells like my puppy when I just sniff the bottle. <3
EDIT: After having this for about a week, the scent just smells different/unfavorable to me. Ended up passing this one along. Just smelled too much like a powdery deodorant. And I guess it is silly to keep a bottle because sniffing just the bottle reminds me of my pup.

I was so disappointed by this, but in all honesty I’m not a huge fan of too many Demeters. The majority of them seem too dependent on the concept and the novelty, but they just don’t deliver scent-wise and I’m not talking about the longevity. There are a few exceptions like the Raspberry Jam and several others which smell like accurate representations of their namesakes. Kitten fur (real kitten fur) smells dusty and slightly musky. Very pleasant. Kitten Fur- the fragrance smells like a men’s cologne where too much vanilla has been added. It’s sweet, astringent and just plain weird. I don’t enjoy it at all, which is really disappointing because it wouldn’t have taken much to get me to like this. Oh well…
Also I know scent perception is very subjective but I’m quite surprised that people think this is similar to DSH’s Winter White or baby powder-scented deodorant. This smelled much more masculine/woody, aromatic and spicy to me, maybe with lavender?? And then there was a vanilla sweetness… like Gap’s Om or CK Be, only plus vanilla.

I’d say kittens hardly smells anything. Which I think is kind of a good smell.
Dog fur on the other hand…

I tried this a few days ago and liked the scent. I was wondering how it smelled. Also, I really love cats.

I was filled with excited anticipation for this. Having buried my nose in between many kitten ears, I really wanted to see if they had captured that very special smell. I read that it took 15 years to ‘purrfect’ and at the first spray I knew they had got it spot on! I’ve been getting everyone to sniff me & asking if I smell like kittens. Nobody gets it! I can only imagine people are not paying attention or smelling enough kittens.
It was long lasting and I got wafts of a warm comforting scent all day with moments of it feeling very animal. I could smell it on my cardigan the next morning too. It’s unusual and I love it.

I came across a Demeter display at a local department store. There were about 30 Demeter scents on display and Kitten Fur was one of them. So I sprayed away.
It smelt like cherry, almond, and amber. It’s a “cute” smell just like a kitten but it does not smell like a kitten.
The scent lasted for a few hours.

I love this! Soft, powdery musk. Smells just like VS Heavenly.

I highly recommend layering this one as the Demeter line is perfect for. My daughter puts this one over “Heather” perfume and it’s a real winner!

You cant think of this as a literal fragrance. This is just my take on it:
First off, for a Demeter scent it is fairly strong and long lasting. Granted, your not going to get 10 hours of wear out of it but I can smell it when I move around for around 3-4 hours then it turns into a powder skin scent. When first sprayed it is quite “in your face” it is a powdery musk with a touch of vanilla. Not a sweet scent but I do get a teeny tiny bit of vanilla. That is it. To me it smells like that powdery strong perfume you smell passing someone with a silver hair baseball helmet on her head, lots of make up and a shirt with a tiger and rhinestones. If i am being honest I purchased it because I was curious what Demeter’s take would be on it.
OMG, it just hit me. This smells EXACTLY, and I mean EXACTLY like secret deodorant in the Baby powder scented version

Not my cup of tea. The only way this resembles the scent of my cat, is if he has been rolling about the rug after I vacuum with Carpet Fresh.

This is but a tonka-centric scent! The musk is dormant for most of its sweet-powdery “clean” life! Perhaps they didn’t want to offend anyone with actual cat odor? or they meant a cat that’s so freshly washed that you can’t smell anything but the soap? For hardcore cat fans, check out the slightly off-putting L’Animal Sauvage by Marlou 🙂

I stalked my mailbox daily for “Kitten Fur”.
Single spray on the back of my hand right away is a linear, loud, clean musk. Like a nob to turn the volume up and down, Kitten fur purs loudly initially. Pure, straight up musk.
Two hours into wearing it hasn’t changed much on my skin, less loud, the volume is turned down a bit, however that crystalline musk still very much present.
I have two cats. One with thick lush coat and undercoat – his fur has a light tonka bean woolly quality to it, no musk.
My other cat, the younger one with extremely silky soft long fur, has a soft cotton-y light “vanilla pod” undertone.
Both of their ear furnishings(yes, the hair that sticks out from their ears) both have little bit of “whipped cream” thing going on…
I applaud for the concept(it’s damn cute!) , but Kitten fur only is able to achieve fraction of what my cats’ fur smell like after I took a shower…the back of my hand has faint trail of soft tonka musk ..
My cats think i’m nuts when I keep burying my face sniffing their necks hard. …My search for cat fur continues – ought to try the Japanese felissimo.
    Projection – Loud
    Longevity – Moderate./Linear…

    (sweet, powdery, musky)
I know some of people say it does not smell like a kitty, but if you think about it, every cat smells different and every scent smells different on each persons skin. I had 4 cats in total and only my Luna has this beautiful sweet powdery musky smell, and I must say this cologne represent it on my skin very well! The only thing is that the scent is very strong so you only need a little bit of it. I personally like it as long as I don’t put too much. It reminds me of my beloved Luna♡

It’s a little powdery but yes it smells like cat fur, it’s nice.

My two kitties (when asked for their opinion) said that this reminds them somewhat of “Oriflame Pretty Swan”. I concur. I get a pretty, musky, tonka, some light floral, perhaps a wee bit of powdery rice. Yep. They’re right.
Kitten Fur is charming. A bit sweet, not an animalic in ‘sniff’. Now, I’ve had the pleasure of smelling many kittens very closely, and you know what? This scent, to me, smells like the inside of their ears! Really.
    I like! 🙂

Blech – smells like cheap air freshener. Ordered the small spray in hopes of a new musky fragrance. Nope, into the trash.

I am not sure WHY ppl are “Reviewing” a fragrance they “Want to smell”???? This is to REVIEW what you thought after wearing it….Geeez…..

@Jassar Well, you know what they say. People who hate cats were probably rats in an earlier life.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

@jassar Not all cats urinate everywhere. Not everyone uses cheap cat litter. Not everyone neglects cleaning their kitty’s litter boxes. Maybe it’s just the people you know. And lastly, most people are not allergic to cats in the way that you describe. These are some of the people who can appreciate the adorable scent of kitten fur.

  32. :

I’m allergic to cats….but I still rub my face in my friends cat. No regerts. They smell what I’d imagine a cloud to smell like; really effin’ wierd, but it’s gonna be lit. No pinkeye and pure happiness from here on out

I call it the contented cat scent, I own three cats, and I adore the scent that this describes. It calms me immediately, I would HAVE to get this!

  34. :

Yeah…. that magic stuff accumulating behind my kittys’ ears…. did they really manage to put it in a bottle? It would be the ultimate skin, erm fur, scent. I would love to try this!!

I love it!! I can’t wait to sample this one. My daughter is always saying that our cat smells like linen. Can’t wait to tell her about this perfume.

  36. :

YES. FINALLY. I’ve always joked that I’d like to own a perfume that resembles the scent of my cat’s fur… and she smells like the wool of sheep, by the way!
