JB Signature is a simple masculine scent. Nothing too sweet or fruity chemical mess here. Unpretentious, just spray 2 on the arm and 2 on the neck and you are set. Woody, slightly spicy and musky is the best way to describe it.

This is known as JB. The new style bottle is a large cube shape with chrome top sprayer and etching JB. Elegant and understated, very masculine.
There have been comparisons to Terre d’Hermes. They are accurate. It is extremely similar, sans the strong orange top note. I compared JB EDP to the EDP version of TdH and they were nearly indistinguishable from 12 inches away after 30 minutes. Close up on the skin, there are differences and JB is not as generic as TdH.
What I will say is JB is more richly composed, its spice is spicer than TdH and its woods are more authentic.
After a blast of rubbing alchohol, there is a noticeable bracing mint note up top, combined with garden herbs and tons of black pepper. This is in contrast to TdH mainly tangy orange top note.
Light woods come in and there is an underlying smooth note that wafts out every now and then that is unique…I believe it to be black orchid. TdH does not have this accord. When it can be smelled, it is quite addictive.
This is a mature, sophisticated spicy woody herbal fresh scent. While I personally love it my wife believe it smells of pine needles, just like an old man. This is typical of spicy wood man scents…most woman don’t like them–they just like fresh and clean, but I digress.
Projection is respectable but not strong for an EDP. Perfect office scent or formal attire scent.
For a spicy wood freshy, I couldn’t think of a better choice. It goes very well with their TURBO WASH…similar scent.

Jack Black Signature smells great off the top, I get the eucalyptus, bergamot, light pepper, and almost a fresh rosemary note. It’s a clean, light fragrance. Performance is not good for me, as I get maybe 2-3 hours with it, and it does not project. Consequently no compliments with it. But the top smells great.

    Distinguished and refined…
Jack Black’s Signature is an excellent designer fragrance. For those who are fans of Terre d’Hermes, I note many similarities in the note structure to include the blend of citrus, patchouli, and pepper. While I thoroughly enjoy the fragrance, there are performance challenges – lasting about 4 hours on me and somewhat longer on my clothing. Black Signature only lingers in close proximity. Even considering these challenges, this fragrance is really good and deserves to be sampled. I don’t think you will be disappointed. Black is flexible enough to be worn by any age group (leaning more toward a 30+ crowd), to any event, and regardless of season. Further, given the modest projection, this fragrance is definitely a safe wear in the office or in close quarters. I would be remiss if I did not point out the presentation of the large bottle – well packaged cylinder box that contains the fine-crafted square bottle. Nicely done, Mr. Black.
All said, my final tally for Jack Black’s Signature fragrance is 4.0 stars out of 5 stars. If the performance was better, this may sneak in to my Top 10. Black Signature smells great and considered a “best kept secret”. I highly recommend adding to your collection.
Enjoy your day and happy fragrance hunting..

Smells amazing. I was hooked immediately. There was something about it though that made me think that i have smelled somewhere else. I do get ther Terre reference with no orange note. I get more of the Iso e super throuh out the fragance. It immediately reminded me of Molecule01. But with other notes going on. Its really pleasant and is not an overpowering fragrance. Thumbs up.

Resinous, woody, fresh, and deep. This guy deserves more attention. I love the fact that it’s a 100ml edp for $70. It may just be me, but in my years of sniffing designer fragrances I have never smelled something so distinguished and interesting as this juice. Maybe it’s the papyrus note, or the tiger orchid (both advertised on the box and website as official notes) but this fragrance is ballsy! Great projection on me and about 7 hours of said projection. Then it becomes a delectable skin scent. Such good stuff, I hope someone out there is inspired to try it from my review.

This scent has a nice woody base with lemon and Mint notes that come through at the top. There are elements that remind of Tom Ford’s Oud Wood and Terre de Hermes. In my first review, I thought it had no projection. I can hardly smell it on myself but other people seem to be able to smell it from a distance. All in all it is a nice clean scent. I wear it a lot at work. I think this would be an even better scent if the patchouli and cedar stood out more. Still it is a good quality oil based scent for a great price

I first bought this scent about about twelve years ago… On
A whim when an older hispanic-lady @ a perfumania had a little secret
Stash of it in the store for whatever reason.
I was not very keen on scents @ that time and was interested in some other
Mainstream fragrance that all my friends were wearing. She presented it with her eyes rolling in lust as she told me her husband wore it.
Upon smelling it, the appeal was nothing spectacular to me, but she sprayed me with it and forced me to purchase it. I figured it was an “old man” scent that they were trying to clear out of the store, and great… Now I was stuck with it.
In my travels the evening came on and I had no time to prepare for it. As I moved around the crowded bar some one smelled REALLY good and masculine, but I couldn’t target him. His scent permeated the whole crowd and left me utterly jealous that I had purchased an overpriced cypress tree in a bottle hours earlier.
Out of the ordinary, I returned to my hotel room in the early morning hours with an out of my league-very beautiful woman… And her college roommate.
Needless to say, it was me me ME! Love this scent, good for everything!
    Heart,
    Joe

Spicy, nice. Smells pretty much indistinguishable with Jack Black Blue Mark and Jack Black Silver Mark to me. (My favorite is Jack Black Black Mark.) I suppose if I had them on paper strips next to each other I could tell, but I detect a definite family similarity.
These are unobjectionable and pleasant scents for just about any man. I can’t imagine anyone not liking these. But then again I can’t imagine anyone falling in love with them, either.

Another wearing. I’m starting to like this stuff!

Starts out minty, drydown is difficult to separate from Terre de Hermes…Hermes is sweeter with the orange

Clean and fresh with loads of black pepper.

This is definitely a long lasting scent.
If you are looking for a woodsy/spice aroma that projects then look no further.
I like the other J.B. scents, they seem lighter or airier. I don’t know about the unisex category as mentioned by the previous member, it seems too woodsy for the ladies. It, to me will also do well for all seasons but probably fits best in cooler weather.

I received a sample of Jack Black JB, apparently intended for those in possession of a Y chromosome (at least judging by the rather virile-looking man in the ad, who is clad in a white t-shirt, leaning forward on his arms crossed along the handlebars of his motorcyle) but decided to give it a sniff, as I was intrigued by the notes on the manufacturer’s card:
    smoky papyrus
    exotic tiger orchid
    black amber
Turns out this is a unisex scent. There is a strong minty-aromatic demeanor in the opening which is fortunately shortlived, and the drydown is quite nice: a fine, cedary woodiness dusted with a touch of orchid powder.
I do not find JB very dark or deep or ambery, but it is definitely a pleasant casual fragrance and, beyond the briefly aromatic opening, JB does not have any of the usual tell-tale (and often chemically) signs of men’s colognes.
