This smells wonderful! And Longevity is good too. It is light and clean and a joy to have discovered. It’s from Ireland as well. This is a great summertime scent. I will get it again when it runs out.

First bought this a few years ago in the Caribbean and have made it a tradition to buy it every year when I go. It’s such an elegant, soft, and beautiful scent. Anytime I want to think about boating in the Caribbean Sea, I put this on and it takes me there . It’s amazing the memories that fragrances conjure up in our minds.

Jeez, this stuff is awful. It’s funny that people think it’s a rare gem, however living in Dublin I’ve always seen it perched on the counters in chemists and even supermarkets as well as those twee Celtic shops that sell chunky knitwear and Waterford crystal to tourists.
Inis is a nose-searing salt spray of bitter, chemical citrus, marine calone and stinging, cheap florals, with all the feminine elegance of a rock to the face.

Spray it on the top side of my wrist, rubbing it on the underside of my other wrist.
Believe me, it does make a difference.
Initially, it goes on fresh and clean, uplifting, indeed, I kept smelling my wrist because it was lovely. Citrusy green and fruity, not fruit juicy or sweet though.
Then, not too long after that,I got a fruity, watermelon cucumber note, but it still smelled fresh.
After about an hour, I guess that’s when I smelled the “ocean” note. Salty, not as fresh.
Almost reminded me of a salty cucumber. This is on both sides.
After 2 hours, I think this is where MY particular chemistry interferes with the whole thing……
My inner wrist still smells like fruity, salty cucumber, which isn’t bad at all.
The top side of my wrist, a waft of mild green chives.
    Yes chives.
In fact, 2 hours later, it still smells like fruited, green chives, and the underside of my wrist continues to smell like salted, fruity cucumber.
    Sillage is moderate
Longevity, well it’s still going after 3 hours. A little weaker. Moderate
I like it, but only on the inner wrist, or part where my skin is not exposed to the sun.

Memories of the ocean in a bottle. If a person loves the smell of the sea, this is a perfect choice. It has a lovely salt note that gives it a realistic impression of ocean water. It has a lime note, giving this lovely scent a true feeling of the beach. This is not a very sweet fragrance…it is fresh and uplifting.

God–I’m happy–I just won an internet contest on Facebook for an entire collection of INIS–a good friend gave me a bottle of this years ago, I loved it used it all quickly and then couldn’t find it again when I moved–while taking a friend to a Dr’s apt in a local city, I found it again in their gift shop and bought a small spray and a small travel body lotion and now,I’m getting the entire line in about 2 days! I love this fresh, energetic, airy, bright and clean scent, especially in summer! I generally like aquatic, ozonic fragrances–loved the original Aqua De Gio, liked Dune, but this one improves my mood and gives me a sense of freedom–I definitely get the citrus but the florals are what last for me, I love this stuff!

(This is a review for the roll-on not the spray) At first I loved this. It has “that marine / seaweed” note –now used by EVERYBODY (Bvlgari Aqua Marine, etc.)
After a few tries this became nauseating – sticky- froggy! That “seaweed” note must be handled gently or SPLAT–you get that dissected frog in science class smell!
This is going into my “frag graveyard” . Maybe the spray is more nuanced ?

This one does not smell great on me. It might be the bergamot. I have a bottle to swap, and willing to give it up for Bobbie Brown Beach, TM Cologne, Marc Jacobs Daisy (eau so fresh, or orig.)

What a perfect seaside dream. The few times that I’ve tried meditating, I like to close my eyes and visualize a very relaxing scenario. Inis conjures up a perfect, zen, gorgeous, oceanside scene. I’m on a desolate beach, I’m barefoot, wearing a white, flowy dress, with a slouchy, light-knit cardigan. My hair is long like a mermaid, blowing in the wind, and I feel more beautiful and at peace than I ever imagined possible. The air is salty and clean, there’s a lovely breeze, the waves are steadily rolling in, and the seagulls caw melodically. I’m walking along the waters edge, feeling the cool water roll over my toes, until I’m met by rocks and driftwood that have piled up so artistically. I climb onto a large rock and sprawl out on my back. I close my eyes, and then I wake up.
    Seriously, Inis is beautiful.

I think my heart stopped when I first smelled this! It is the best sea fragrance I have ever smelled! Since visiting California years ago I have searched for sea smells for my house and car to capture that exact smell of the big ocean calling you to itself with salty air. I loved that experience!
Inis captures that in a wearable beautiful sea-like sweet way. I am so thrilled to have finally gotten a bottle! And to think it was in a boutique in the little city I visit every week all along! Wow what a happy girl I am!

This is a very clean scent. Lots of citrus in the beginning, then the florals appear but the citrus is still predominant. It has excellent longevity for a citrus fragrance, lasting a good 12 hours on me. I was a little hesitant to buy because of the clove note, but there’s just the smallest hint of it in the drydown, and it’s possible that I’m only noticing it because I know it’s there. This is perfect for casual everyday use!

Ahh Inis, I wore this when I was just 14. I had a miniature that I didn’t dab on, I used to throw it at my neck instead 🙂
Yes it smelled like like the sea, it was lemon fresh/spicy and It definitely smelled like cologne. I was told countless times I smelt like a dude but I was a ballsy teenager, and I absolutely loved it and wore it regardless.

Inis is a very straight forward fresh type fragrance. Its a huge wallop of calone, citrus, lily of the valley and detergent musk. Its fresh and clean and veering towards sterile. The type of scent you smell everywhere and never wonder about. Pleasant, generic and generally inoffensive.

This is such a poetic ocean scent. Calming and uplifting. For wearing Inis brings to mind the being at the seashore. The feeling of a cool mist of sea spray against the skin as the waves break upon the shore.

I just got this fragrance in yesterday after wanting it for some time… for some damn reason I had convinced myself I was part Irish even though I knew damn well I was Scottish *smacks head* and I thought it would be cool to own a nice fragrance from my ancestors home country!! It does seem that sometimes stupid people get very lucky as it is in my case. I am soo glad I forgot my bloodline because I may have never picked up this wonderful fragrance. I am really enjoying it!!. For me it has a wonderful citrus, ocean, airy vibe to it. When wearing it I imagine someone planted a grove of lemon trees along the Irish shoreline and I am just laying up on the grassy hill enjoying the wonderful cool ocean breeze blowing through those lemon trees.
I have only worn it one night and I can still smell it almost 10 hours later. I guess the sillage is good to because tonight one of my coworkers looked at me and said “Damn you smell good Blue” and he was standing about 4 feet from me.

I got a sample of this and it stood out for two reasons: 1.) It’s made in Ireland, and 2.) It’s sold in Hallmark stores in the U.S.
It’s… nice. Yes, it is evocative of the breezy, salty sea. This supposedly has oakmoss in it, but, nahhh. I don’t detect that at all. For me it is a linear sea smell.
But of all the oceanics/aquatics I’ve tried, I still like Outremer’s French-made “Oceane” best, which is available (in the U.S.) in Anthopologie stores for a pittance. ($18 large bottle, $10 small bottle.)
Oceane also wins the sillage and longevity award.
NOTE: It has now been about four hours since I applied this, and the basenote on my cotton tee shirt has turned decidedly nasty. Oceane doesn’t do that. I am changing this from “like” to “dislike.”

I was surprised! It’s softer, smoother, less harsh, and the salt is less coarse and crunchy than I had imagined. This fragrance has a dreamlike quality to it, as if one stepped into surreal painting of the ocean. It genuinely fits my perception of a cold Atlantic seacoast, wild surf pounding against the shore. While wearing this scent, I can easily envision myself standing on a rocky beach, wind blowing through my hair smelling the cold, brisk aromas of the sea.

Love this on my wife. The neroli, ocean, floral and sandalwood notes make a great sensual scent. A little too floral for me to wear but a great female fragrance.

I don’t understand how women can wear this scent. When I have worn it people always ask why I wear men’s fragrances. Nice scent…for men.

I have no idea how they managed to bottle the essence of the beach and ocean, but they did and it is MARVELOUS. I adore this scent. It’s clean, slightly spicy, and smells like you’ve been at sea all day. Cannot recommend highly enough, and I love that it’s unisex! It’s such a nice change from the fruity-floral-gourmand fragrances that are everywhere. It’s really unique, and I’ll definitely re-purchase!

This will always remind me of my son. He found this in a drawer when he got back from overseas (US Marine). He wore it til it was gone and I never replaced it. I have happy memories of his return but it also takes me to that dark place only the mother of a war veteran can know…….I don’t want to smell it EVER again but it is a clean scent and unisex.

This is slightly spicy/fresh all the way through — I’m guessing the cloves and nutmeg, but they’re not overwhelming. Keeps the scent from being entirely aquatic. Some fresh citrus in the opening, and then mostly woods — not really overly floral. The spicy undertone keeps it from being entirely aquatic. Would be excellent for summer as it’s so fresh.

I have no idea how they did this with the notes that are mentioned in the description of this perfume but it smells exactly like the sea. Like you would smell after spending the day at the beach. Gorgeous, beautiful, I love it.

  24. :

This is a Tangy, Aquatic perfume and what I like best is the lemon-citrus note. In the opening (when you first spray it) there is a sharpness to it–like the bite of cold sea air.
Then the fragrance settles into something softer and slightly spicy (must be the cloves) that lingers in your hair, on your skin, on your clothes. In my opinion, this has medium to low sillage…meaning that INIS will not enter the room before you do and it will not remain in the room long after you’ve left.
It is a close/personal space kind of scent. Only those within the 6 to 8-foot diameter of your space will detect it a half hour after you apply it. If you want the scent to last through the day, you definitely have to layer it and re-apply several times.
I Love this scent and wear it when I am in the mood for it. So that is at least once or twice every other week, layered with the INIS lotion. I do not tend to wear it daily because I have many other fragrances in rotation. (life is too short for one perfume, in my opinion!)

Inis is the post “aquatic” hit that grabbed the thunder of that trend. I found it rather linear and enjoyed it. It was nothing to write home over. The ozonic accord grabbed my attention for a moment and that was it. This is not definitive of how Ireland is identified as. Where is the lavender or rose? It lacks any green accord.
I guess I never understood the aquatic trend…

Wonderfully refreshing and reminiscent of the salt water of the Sea…not floral at all, in my opinion…a definite “win”!

This is a nice fresh, clean scent. Putting it on instantly makes you feel cooler during a hot summer. Not sweet at all which is why it is for men and women. I wear it casually – it just feels right with jeans and on the weekends. Wish it was a little longer lasting.

Inis is an “Atlantic aquatic” by any definition. It smells fresh, cold, a little green, a little ozonic, and very clean. It is well made, but other than its reluctantly masculine demeanor, offers little in the way of distinction or excitement. Inis is a fine choice for someone who doesn’t care about sillage or longevity, and just wants something nice to wear after a shower. Lost in a league of aquatics, this scent is only worth tracking down if you are a true lover of this genre. Otherwise, you’re not really missing anything here.

Waking to fresh salty ocean air. Walking out on the porch viewing the beach front. Sand beneath your toes, as you walk towards the rugged cliffs over the sea. The cool crisp breeze caresses your skin. The smell of green hills, abundant sea, and clean air of Ireland’s beauty….it is all Inis…

Very fresh and crisp, as others have mentioned, however this is a little too much on the spicy side for me and ends up, on my skin, smelling like Issey Miyake for men! – a good alternative if that’s what your looking for but not for me.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

Okay as much as I liked it for its freshness, crispiness and strength I just could not get used to its strong manly (kinda spicy) notes like for example nutmeg. I am not an expert yet to go into details like each note. Anyway, I had to give it to my husband. I still think it is a great perfume and I am sure it suits some women too but not me.

I love this scent though I was disappointed at first about the ‘strongish’ manly side of it. However when I put it on me and waited a little time or rather adjusted to it. It puts me in a fresh, energized mood as if I was at the sea or something like that. It just makes me feel good to have it on me. And it lasts that it is an other positive side of it. I used a lot Cool Water from Davidoff but that is not this strong and surely does not last as well, at least on me. For me this scent is my new “Cool Water” or rather my ‘Cool Sea’.

My signature for a number of years. A beautiful, fresh & somewhat aquatic scent that I love. I actually had people stop me in the street to ask what I was wearing!

I got this perfume as a gift from a friend in UK.
At first I wasn’t so impressed when I smelled it because it seemed very strong and manly. But I gave it another shot I started to discover it.
Inis reminds me of the sea breeze.
This is a wonderful, fresh and clean smelling cologne that lasts all day long. There’s nothing better for the hot, sweltering days of summer that using this perfume.
When I spray it on myself I feel as if I just stepped out of the shower.
If you love the ocean and the smell of sea salt spray you will love this.
Also I have a little tip for you guys: if you spray a little on your hair brush, your hair will smell heavenly!

  35. :

I’m not usually a fan of these types of scents (I wear orientals primarily), but this is a nice change of pace when I’m in the mood for it. If you like fresh/marine scents, this is very well done.

A female friend wears Inis and it is very unusual. Very pronounced green citrus and mossy notes. Not oceany or ozonic, as one might expect from the packaging, and no sweetness or floral is detectable at all. It is supposedly unisex, but men can wear this one with 100% confidence that no one will ask them if they’re wearing a woman’s perfume. I did ask my friend if she was wearing men’s cologne when she had this one on, LOL! If you’re a confident woman who is tired of the fruity sweet scents, this is a nice alternative. It is a bit hard to find here in the States and you can be sure no one else around you will be wearing it.
