The opening of Indigo smells like a cooling mix of tarragon, licorice and mint, mixed with medicinal lavender. At this stage it is more similar to a calming essential oil blend for anxiety (albeit a high quality one) than a traditional perfume. It’s actually a very relaxing smell, though it doesn’t smell “blue” to me (scent/color associations seem to be extremely subjective). As a lover of mint and licorice, I love this stage but recognize that it will probably be too weird or medicinal for people who don’t like those notes. Indigo slowly transitions into soft, peachy osmanthus – a weird pairing with the top notes but it totally works here. It’s an interesting scent because of the complete shift in texture from minty sharp to soft musky osmanthus. Mildly sweet.
Low sillage, medium longevity. Points for quality and creativity. I’ll have to check out more of Thorn and Bloom’s offerings. Like.
