It is sweet and not as citrusy as the notes would have you believe. It is a very nice smelling fragrance and will get you heaps of compliments.
Projection is great, probably over an arms length and maintains that for many hours. Longevity is good too.
Yes, this is pretty much a clone of JPG Ultra Male. However in saying that there a small difference in scent and a big difference in price. A great release from Zara!

I had this and Ultra Male on each forearm, and my sister tells me this smells better. I don’t really like it because i don’t like sweet fragrances in general, but this has the best longevity and projection i’ve ever seen on any fragrance

This stuff is bonkers, one of my best buys for sure this year although im sure that’s gonna change in a few days when my bottle of Baccarat Rouge arrives, hehe just thought id pop that in there as im a bit exited.
Anyway about Zara Gourmand leather, yes this is a great copy of ultra male, Zara done a fantastic job of capturing that JPG dna and plus some. I certainly get that pear vanilla vibe with an interesting bonus in the drydown with that touch of Armani code making this probably better than the original in some ways. i get crazy longevity out of this, 12 hours plus easy but it only projects for about six hours before it sits closer to the skin.
Zara lately have been knocking it out the ball park with their offerings and could definitely save people a lot of money with their interesting takes on popular colognes, give them a go.

Zara Gourmand Leather is a nice fragrance. Gourmand Leather was my first Zara and I was one of those to get it as a decant, mainly because my closest store is Scottsdale’s Fashion Square Mall and the one time I went, I didn’t find the fragrances… Anyway, Gourmand Leather is a very very close clone to Ultra Male. It is amazing as the only main notes it clearly misses due to accords are the pear note, the mint note and the cinnamon note. It may not has that but has a similar candy accord though not pear based. I find it is more akin to the original Cuba Prestige. It also goes into a slight Eros/Oxford Blue territory though that seemingly is my nose. I say Oxford Blue as the iris isn’t as close to say Dior Homme offerings. The tonka is a vanillic tonka so I get the vanilla and the slight leather note adds a nice twist.
Gourmand Leather is a BEAST. I have only worn it a few times because I live in Arizona (hence me mentioning Scottsdale) and I typically wear fragrances for work more so than bars, clubs, etc. so wearing a fragrance as strong as this, is asking to choke people out. This is a slight, slight knock, but something people should know. The first time I wore it was to a workday and a potluck after hours and it was still strong on me. I have yet sprayed this on my elbows but I still can smell it if I do two to four sprays to my neck. It lasts about 10 hours on my skin. It is a really good fall winter night scent for bars and clubs, even dates as it is unique (even for what it clones), especially if you are under 40. It is for more playful people rather than serious.
I would say this is a 80% clone of Ultra Male. It is about 10% English Laundry Oxford Blue, 5% Cuba Prestige, 5% Versace Eros as well. Overall I HAVE to get over to Fashion Square to see if Zara still has Gourmand Leather and if they have it, they wont have it for long. I got a 1.4oz Ultra Male for about the price Gourmand Leather is supposed to run in Zara stores, which is a bargain. Overall I rate Gourmand Leather 8.7 out of 10. It isn’t all season, all ocassion enough for me to rate any higher, but this just plain works and if it was lighter, it would be a great fill in for Ultra Male.

this smell opening sweet candy but drydown is very good and sexy.

  7. :

    4 out of 5

Yes, it does smell very similar to JPG UM, but not the same…less quality, harsher notes and less fruity. But considering price, as a clone and as a scent is absolutely great and worth buying if you like sweet playful scents.
The performance is solid too. I usually wear the scents at club, parties, concerts and I can easily smell it on me and clothes (even on pillow sometimes) when I woke up next morning. But it is harsh for morning scents, makes me take a shower right away…or maybe it is the hangover :).

Not for adult gentlemen, office, suit, formal, business meetings etc…

This stuff is bonkers! Girl i was watching a movie with kept turning towards me and saying “you smell soo good”, during the movie. Very good performance, can smell it the next day.

    Bonus Tip:
Layering this with Cuba Gold as the base really fills it out and rounds off the sweetness. Less candy, more dandy. Great success.

Though I’m not a fan of sweet perfumes, I love this one and Zara 9.0. They smell so good both! This one is really leathery. And sweet. And balsamic/camphory. Awesome smell! 😀 Very well blended giving the impression of a more expensive perfume. Nice presentation package, beautiful bottle. Huge longevity! I have in front of me a test blotter with GL and still smell it after more than 48 hours. On clothes I smell it after more than 30 hours. Unfortunately the sillage is not so awesome, but good enough. It projects fine/soft waves of aroma even after 4 hours. I bought it for ~10 euros and for this price it’s great!

I think this should be called vibrant choco vanilla leather, because it smells leather/vanilla but with the energy of strong sunlight. Probably some synthetic smell because it reminds me to something like super glue/synthetic disolvent/aroma smell. But in a very nice way, like a normal smell under very big heat for example. Also have some artificial blueberry or other exotic vibe. Maybe it is only the part of the chocolate/leather combo. Very very nice smell. Maybe luxury car vibe too. Almost oudish but stays in a chocolate woody side.

so… i love when i find an actual identical clones, i just got my sample of this in the mail, was expecting it to be close but not identical, AND ITS IDENTICAL TO ULTRA MALE!! THE SAME!! i have both little samplers of them and its the same shit! anyone else know any zara copies?? im liking this zara company for sure

Gourmand Leather by Zara is a clone Ultra Male by Jean Paul Gaultier. And it is strikingly similar. However there is a difference in the opening of both. Gourmand Leather is lacking the peach note of Ultra Male. As it dries down they become more and more similar. Longevity of about 12 hours on me. Lasts a long time on clothes also. I would say that is has good projection for about 2-3 hours. Well worth the price. I picked this up for €10 for 150ml in the winter sales (bought two). So keep a look out for this during the sales, incredible value if you get it at a crazy price like that.

Okay so I’ve manage to try a few more Zara fragrances and I have to say these two leather ones aren’t really leathery. I can give this one a pass because the vanilla/tonka tones in here do evoke a leathery base but the Aventus clone one? I suppose birch smoke could be conceived as leathery…but not really. Okay that aside and this scent is not instantly recognisable until it settles and the Ultra Male comparisons are clear and accurate. Opens with that gourmand, ultra sticky sweet notes a bit fruity, nondescript, unnatural fruit… bubblegum. Then it dries down to a clonker of a tonka, sickly, dense, dirty vanilla and although I’d say extremely similar to ultra male, this is somehow cheaper and more cloying. I still to this day do not understand why I like Ultra male, I should hate it but it’s a total pussy cat on my skin and smells quite good. Gourmand Leather however just smells like the plethora of awful Tonka based scents of a few years back. It’s okay I suppose and I don’t hate it, the opening is not only different to Ultra Male but I thought it wasn’t bad, if you want something heavy and clunkily warm and sweet.

Very Sweet. mainly vanilla with leather undertone, would have preferred the other way around. Not my cup of tea, but gets compliments though.

The bottle is different and scent as well. A lot of powder. I would say too much. Even for women. Even though I am enjoying the scent.
Edit: Try to mix with Orchid Intense (for women). The strong pear note makes this frag really close to Ultra male even more.

Snagged the last two 150mls from my local today, Currently discounted to £13/$18 – think this ‘limited edition’ size has or is is being discontinued – though the 100ml was also still available at the full price of £18/$25. Love the scent! Definitely very much like JPG UM but I also do get the iris/make up bag note.. mid way it smells like something familiar that I cant quite figure out, Code maybe? Or it could be the bubblegum vibe reminding me of 1Mill. Overall its rich sweet & leathery – definitely one for the colder nights! Bargain for the price, Especially if you can find the bigger bottle.

I bought mine today , 17.95€ 150ml , the last unity in the store, sold out Gourmand Leather.

  25. :

This perfume evolve from the initial spray until the dry down…i never smelled Ultra male though…but the dry down reminds me of Valentino Uomo Intense with lesser Iris dose.
    update:
Performance wise this is very solid for Zara…i use it on the night before sleep (around 11pm)…and i can still sniff a good whiff of it in the morning around 9am.
Sprayer is good as well, similar to Dior sprayer with misty kind of output.
    9/3/18
Got compliment from 30’s yo lady…she ask what the fragrance is and would like to buy for her boyfriend…she said she smelled the scent from 2m behind me. So worth to buy

I didn’t even try Ultra Male, but if this is a clone, i must say – this and UM are strictly for the youngest crowd!
    It’s a teen sugary bomb.
Longevity and projection are outstanding for the price, but the smell itself, no.

I think it makes me smell like a biscuit making love to a new shoe. And at the end of the day, that’s what we’re all here for isn’t it, lads.
I get the criticism that it smells a bit juvenile. I’d never wear this on a date, or a day of galleries or museums. And the bottle looks PROPER nasty. What do yhou want for £20?
But I do like it. I wear it at home and to walk into town. A very young woman friend who was with me when I bought it loved it and it’s a hit with my kids.

Really nice opening and yes, it does smell similar to JPG Ultra Male. Longevity is really good too. I can still smell it on myself 10 hours later. Definitely pick this one up if you get a chance. Zara has lots of good stuff and this one is up there for sure. Great scent!

Amazing The best scent Zara can offer longevity on this one is fantastic I have to agree, this is like Ultra Male ,nothing like Armani Code,or Joop , it’s great value 4 the money, we are paying a lot of money 4 popular and big brands only last 2 hours more or less so guys do try this 1 is amazing

    Tone Indeterminee is absolutely brilliant.
    Rich, Warm, Addictive is excellent.
    Ambre Noble is very good.
Orange Zest is just ginger and vetiver.
Weekend ’till 3:00am is a total disaster.
And yeah, Rich and Vibrant Leather both have that “Aventus” vibe.
But Gourmand Leather is definitely not as good as people say. Guys, it’s SWEET – like super candy sweet. If you’ve ever smelled Weekend ’till 3:00am, it has this God awful dollar-store powdered strawberry top note that never goes away.
This juice has something similar, but it’s the lemon version, and luckily it’s not nearly as strong. The one redeeming quality of it is the heart where you get that powdery iris (instead of the fruity notes of Ultra Male). After that, the candy returns for a bit and then it’s done.
So I really don’t know where people get leather in this…it’s basically straight up iris with a weird candy opening and finish. No woods, no density and no backbone.
If you’re not into sweet frags, don’t even bother. The only reason I have a bottle is because my gf “politely asked” that I smell like this once in a while; and what the hell, it’s inexpensive, so that’s a plus.
Longevity IS very good, but like I said, there are much better offerings from this house. Even at this price range, you can find something better elsewhere. So sure, have a sniff, but beware of nasal cavities.
    Scent – 5.5/10
    Longevity – 8/10
    Projection – 6/10
Overall – 6/10 – An iris flavoured hard candy.

An exceptional Zara fragrance because unlike other Zara fragrances, this lasts and lasts and lasts! Prepare to have smell on your skin after 24h and after shower.
Also the projection is on heavy side. I actually decant this in a 5ml sprayer and diluted it with 50% of Iso-E-Super EPD but it’s still pretty heavy.
It’s “for men” but I see it unisex.
It will start to smell unpleasant when in heat so it’s definitely for colder seasons. I would not spray it on shirt if you can’t change it after one use. The smell will stay and will turn into disgusting.
All in all a very beautiful scent. The best scent Zara can offer at the moment! If you are into this kind of smells, I highly recommend you try it on your skin.

This is indeed very similar to JPGUM, but unlike JPG, this is not that in-da-face-who-if-im-not kinda agressive smell. This projects and lasts, but I get headache from smelling JPG on buses and indoors, this feels more warm and inviting – and more wearable.

My wife and I decided to go clubbing yesterday.
Before going to the club and after a shower I thought “let me see what I am going to wear… blue jeans, a Chevignon white shirt and Ultra Male…”
Well… I remember then that my Ultra Male had finished two weeks ago. No issues… probably Ferragamo F Black will do… regular Le Male will do it as well… But what if I give a proof of fire to Gourmand Leather… Gourmand Leather it is!… that’s decided.
2 sprays in my neck, 2 sprays in my chest and 2 sprays in my shirt…
On the way to the club my wife commented “you know I like Ultra Male but tonight you over sprayed a bit; you are outshining my Sisley Eau du Soir”.
In the club I received 3 compliments more… “what are you wearing?” and I answered “Ultra Male off course”.
This morning my wife commented… “you still smell Ultra Male… I really like it”.
Now only you and me know that I really used Zara Gourmand Leather.
Comments: I wonder why some people are so obnoxious with inexpensive good colognes and keep on commenting “cheap, does not last, synthetic, smell of sewage” and so on. I do remember Steven from Redolessence commenting in one of his videos that he was out of regular A*Men and was using Cuba Prestige instead (without the other people noticing it).
Are Ultra Male and Gourmand Leather similar? Judging by the people around me, they are pretty similar.
But are the 2 fragrances really equal? Well, I also can tell you that probably they are not equal. Zara’s Gourmand Leather stained my shirt. I have never tested Ultra Male about white cotton textile staining. For the skeptics of using perfume clones I give another subject for you to comment on.
My rates on Zara Gourmand Leather:
    Scent: 9.0
    Longevity: 9.0
    Sillage: 8.0
    Uniqueness: 6.0
    Versatility: 8.5
    Quality: 8.5
    Price: 10.0
Staining my shirt: 7.0 (it was a barely noticeable stain anyway)
    Overall rating: 8.25/10.00

I tried this today at my local Zara store. It truly does smell very, very similar to JPG Ultra Male (I’d say the top notes are almost identical). So far this is the most accurate clone from Zara I’ve ever smelled. Plus my nose detects a hint of chocolate in this, which explains the “gourmand”
Both projection and performance are NOWHERE near as good as UM, which is expected. But overall it’s really nice fragrance and definitely worth checking out.
If you’re looking for a lighter, weaker, but more affordable substitute for Ultra Male, look no further.

    Love this fragrance.
Here is the composition in my opinion :
Ultra Male (60%) + Dior Homme for Iris (20%) + Armani Code for tonka bean & leather (20%)
    Scent : 9/10
    Longevity : 7/10
    Sillage : 7/10

Amazing Fragrance , 13 euros for 100ML is totally crazy , Zara did it again ! why would you pay 60 euros for UltraMale when you can get it for 13 ?

  44. :

    5 out of 5

I was able to sample this today in their mall store — To me it starts with sweet floral which is kinda, well, annoying BUT wait till you get to the drydown where this becomes a skin scent — I dunno but it surely reminds me of A*Men (reformulated) minus the slight coffee note. But the smoked caramel choco sweet is so similar to angel men. Smells delicious and sexy. I’ll give this 8/10 rating.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

If you bought Gourmand Leather as an Ultra Male clone:
    Use it….
It is a bit softer and less complex than Ultra Mail. By no means it will smell synthetic and cheap.
Respray after 3.1/2 hours for more longevity and sillage. It’s really a matter of personal choice.
It is still 1/8 of Ultra Male price !!!!
If you bought Gourmand Leather because of Gourmand Leather:
Congratulations. It is an excellent fragrance for itself.
No, Gourmand Leather will not last for 48 hours in a row but let’s be serious: Nobody expects 12 hours of longevity for a perfume. There is no practical use for it. If you are a perfume lover the most natural decision you face every day is “what will I use in the morning?” and “what will I use in the evening?” and most certainly you will use two different fragrances. In fact, the usable longevity for a fragrance is up to 6~8 hours maximum. And if (“if” in bold) by any reason you require 12 hours longevity from an average EDT without respraying, just apply two sprays per spot in your tshirt or shirt where any EDT lasts a lot longer.
    Now about Gourmand Leather:
    – Opens with a very agreeable citrus scent.(1/2 hour)
    – Continues with a fainting citrus note and a very agreeable iris becomes dominant (1 hour)
    – The dry down reveals a very strong and very lovable gourmand combo of tonka and leather that lasts a lot of time (5 to 6 hours with 1 good spray in the back of my hand)
If you respray after 3.1/2 hours the dry down of the first spray dominates the opening and middle notes of the respray and you get 3~4 hours more of a very acceptable (quite strong) longevity.
    .
Gourmand Leather is a well above average, nice quality oriental fougere EDT available for you to purchase it for a very low price.
I thank Zara for making some medium/high quality perfumes available for every purse (some… not all Zara perfumes).

  46. :

Initially I’ve been a bit disappointed by this fragrance. The opening is a bit too juvenile for me.
But after couple of wearings I discovered its full potential. Awesome gourmandish drydown, very similar indeed with Ultra Male, but I dare to say I like this one more because of the added iris(it’s very subtile, get only from time to time).
I also got even better performances with Gourmand Leather, I don’t think is a bright idea to put more that 3 to 4 sprays.

  47. :

    3 out of 5

This fragrance does absolutely remind me of JPG Ultra Male and it is also almost identical but the thing that sets it apart to my nose is that this scent lacks both depth and that extra oomph that Ultra Male has, and in my experience this has mostly been the case with many Zara fragrances that are similar to other more well-known fragrances. It somewhat feels like a slightly watered-down or lighter version of Ultra Male. However, this is a good alternative to have if you really like Ultra Male and can’t seem to find a good deal for it or is even unavailable to purchase for you. The scent itself for those who isn’t familiar with Ultra Male is that it smells sweet, delicious and almost candy-like but still has a masculine quality to it and the scent will most likely get noticed by others around you. I love Ultra Male so I will say Gourmand Leather is a good fragrance as a whole.

  48. :

    3 out of 5

Yes this resembles UltraMale by JPG, almost same smell….I don’t get the Armani Code Profumo vibe.
Not as strong projecting, but stays long time on skin

The longevity on this one is fantastic, probably the best on a Zara fragrance so far – would encourage to buy now since it’s been released. Probably will be toned down in a few months if it sticks around.

This is 95% Ultra Male, as many have already said. Maybe Ultra Male is a little more fruity because of the pear, but that’s all. That being said, it’s great value is you like super sweet fragrances.

Saw a rieview on YouTube comparing this to Dior Homme intense. No diss, but I have to disagree. It is very close to Ultra Male and I own both of those…
This is sweet and playful like Ultra Male. Kind of unisex but good on men – I find it very gourmand. Just like Ultra Male I think it’s best suited for clubbin or casual dates and fun. Nothing too conservative and not work proof.

  55. :

From leather collection, the longer lasting one and the sweeter one. I have to agree, this is like Ultra Male, exactly like it. Only in the dry down I can smell the heart of Armani Code. This is like 85% Ultra Male and 15% Code. Only lasts less than Ultra Male, but this is the exact same thing. I’d say that the code part is really negligible.

  56. :

this is perfect sweet leather-vanilla for women! I would like it on men too but love it wearing myself as a girl! I was searching for a lady leather scent, which is not too sweet and this is perfect

This one is in the same style of code profumo, but the sweet part on steroids. Too sickly sweet and since I hate code profumo, this one is even worst, but if you are a fan of very sweet fragrances, try it you may like it, but quality wise, is just ok.
