Description

“There should be no boundaries – I learnt that from Comme des Garçons” – stated Pharrell Williams on the occasion of presenting his first unisex fragrance named Girl. When he was young, he used Ralph Laurent’s Polo for which he says it was “really cool” at that time. Later he used Dior’s Fahrenheit because it was so different from other fragrance at that time, and after it, during 15 years he did not wear any perfumes at all – he stated for WWD.

The meeting that took place 4 or 5 years ago in Basel (at Art Basel) with Sarah Andelman, founder and creative director of Parisian Colette made him think differently about fragrances. During greetings and embrace he smelled the perfume she was wearing and asked her what that scent was, and she answered it was Wonderwood by CDG. From that moment on, Pharrell has been, as he says himself, in love with Comme des Garcons!

He wanted to collaborate with Comme des Garcons and he envisaged a concept which was based on woodsy notes. Top notes of fragrance Girl includes neroli, lavender and white pepper, followed by iris, styrax and violet, while the base closes with a woody union of patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood and cedar. Composition of the perfume is signed by creative director of Comme Des Garcons, Christian Astuguevieille and perfumer Antoine Lie of Tasakago. The house of Comme des Garcons Parfum is in charge of production and distribution.

Fragrance Girl will hit the shelves starting from September 1st at Dover Street Market London, and will arrive in the same stores in New York and Tokio later on. Also, before the exclusive partnership, fragrance Girl will be available at Sephora in USA, Canada and France. The fragrance arrives as 100ml EDP and 10ml EDP. Flacon design is signed by House + Holme.
Girl was launched in 2014.

To me this smells great for the first minute, earthy greenery, spicy herbs, some kind of witch tea… But after that first minute it all goes heywire, the magic evaporates and I see myself in my fiance’s tool garage with all his dirty, greasy, oily tools… motor oil and hemp oakum. I don’t know what note does that, I blame the vetiver or styrax.
So I asked his opinion about it… without telling him any notes, he smelled a rusty car filled with herbs. I see how many people could like this smell, not generic or mass appealing, a no-no for him also.
To sum it up, to me this is how his hands smell after he works on the car engine without gloves or after he did some plumbing around the house.

A lovely member sent me an unmarked decant of this as a “blind sniff & guess what it is”.
My brain/nose filtered out literally everything except for the huge dose of overbearing peppery synthetic wood. I couldn’t (& still can’t) identify any florals at all in this. Girl manages to encapsulate everything I hate in modern perfumery, with that pungent fuzzy horrible (to me) note which I constantly pick up on – & tried for so long to identify & pin down. It’s well & truly here folks – in buckets.I know it’s synthetic “woods”, but I don’t understand this chemical, & it doesn’t even smell anything like real wood to me.
This is probably down to my own limitations & perception, but I truly cannot stand this. It hits my senses like a pick axe. I think it’s dreadful, & smells on my skin like it costs about 10p per litre to manufacture. Girl smells like very concentrated cheap “sports/fresh” type deodorants, & loads of other modern “woody” perfumes (DSquared offerings springs to mind).
Sorry Pharrell… but I do really like your hat 🙂

This fragrance is very unisex. Smells very mature. It’s powdery (iris), a little peppery, and a “dank” (as someone stated below) watery lavender scent. Then later lots of cedar in the base. It’s very interesting. Unique.

An interesting woody/powdery/vetiver that smells familliar, but I can’t place it. Perhaps it shares a scent with a hand soap, or candle, or room freshener?

It’s a massive pepper/vetiver/wood bomb. Horrendous on me on the opening and had me coughing and spluttering. My skin has done its usual amp up the pepper trick!! I can barely make out the violet at the start. I don’t know what happened to the lovely iris or lavender. Please, please don’t blind buy.
Ok, so here is the good news. If you can stand the wait after 15 mins or so it settles to pepper/vetiver/dry wood shavings with a little violet.
Wait another 30 mins and praise be it actually smells good. The iris and lavender are finally allowed to surface along with some pencil shavings. This would make a nice work scent. It’s really rather unisex.
Moderate sillage and longevity. If your skin tends to amp up the pepper note then test with the greatest of caution.

Blind buy. Delicious. Heavily concentrated dank lavender. Surprised by the price as this is definitely from the CdG stable and not just a side line. I’m especially surprised that’s is not currently being marketed through Dover Street Market, perhaps someone feels Pharrell is too commercial (celebrity) and so no longer fits the DSM/CdG brand profile.
Perhaps not the easiest (commercial) of fragrances to wear. Personally I adore it.

I want to buy this just because of the bottle. I compare fragrances to a time machine certain fragrances that I have in my collection are just like that. For example, Bvlgari Man Extereme reminds me of the time when I was in Boracay Island in the Philippines and my wife and I found out that she’s pregnant with our first baby.
Fahrenheit reminds me of seeing my dad in 1994 after being separated from him for 12 years, he gave me a Fahrenheit, so everytime I see my new bottle it reminds me of my dad.
I consider great looking perfume bottles like a piece of art that you display in your living room and this “Girl by Pharrell” bottle is gorgeous.
Sorry if I had nothing to say about the actual fragrance since I haven’t tried it.

    Sentence Summary:
I got a 10ml of this out of Poundland for a quid. This scent needs it’s own category, as for me it’s neither for men nor women, but somewhere inbetween…
Smells nothing like Farenheit, but does smell like when crushed up Parma Violet’s are being roughly kneaded into warm Play-dough while a Bakewell tart’s baking in the oven.
    A Strange Brew.
    Berating rating: 4/10

I received a sample of this in a recent trade and immediately fell in love with its imaginative nature and uniqueness: I can’t immediately think of anything else that smells even remotely like this one. Upon spraying, I get this blast of what I would describe as almond rather than wood, which fades quite quickly. Then, for the duration of the scent, I smell a lavender soapiness which I am quite enamored with. Never intrusive, but omnipresent. Given its current price point this lasts a decent amount of time and I get wafts of it throughout the day, so I’m assuming others can smell it as well.
As others have said, this scent suffered from poor marketing and lame presentation. I don’t know that it attracted its desired demographic, and at $135 per 100MLs originally, it was probably a VERY difficult sell. But now, it’s available at an excellent price, and once discontinued, I can see it rising in value quite quickly for a multitude of reasons. Might have to pick up a backup bottle just in case. 😉

The Fahrenheit-connexion made me a bit weary of this scent, because Fahrenheit is bonded with some fairly bad memories for me (as our brains do with perfumes and memories good, bad and ugly). But I am glad I tried this perfume. Cheap as chips and amazingly beautiful. It has the same metallic violet- note as Fahrenheit, but in an inoffensive way. It has a niche feeling, special and less boring than most unisex fragrances. Recommended.

Basically, this is a sweet, soft woody fragrance with cedar as the main note. It’s there from the top. After the sweetness wears off, it is cedar with a hint of lavender. I wouldn’t call this a “violet” fragrance. It is NOT floral nor candied but the flower lends the wood a sweetness in the top. This quickly becomes a skin scent and lasts about 2-3 hours.I will say that this is niche for $8-10. It is not a cheapie scent but it smells derivative and like many other sweet woody scents out there. Worth it if you get it cheap! Glad I didn’t spend $35 on it.

This is one that will smell according to its surface and environment. Initially, I had huge reminiscent of Dior Fahrenheit, as I’m sure was intended by Pharrell. It then got smokish and feminine but changed to sweet and masculine. It switched back and forth many times and I love it. It’s like wearing 2 different but similar fragrances. For a bold, extrovert, like myself and Pharrell, it fits very well. I am 17 years old but I feel my grandma with a similar personality as mine could wear this. If you try this fragrance out, don’t let it wear you.
    Overall: 9/10

I do not enjoy Girl neither would I like smelling it on my girlfriend. Girl is a product of the cooperation between Antonie Lie, who has worked on three Comme des Garcons perfumes and many other things, and Christian Astuguevieille who’s not actually a perfumer, more like an art director or something of the sort at CdG, basing this perfume on requests by celebrity simpleton Pharrel Williams.
Sillage: skin scent. Longevity: hours — if you get as close as 1 cm to your skin at application point. To me the overall mix of notes is a quite repelling synthetic sweetness. Not so far from, say, Playboy products, Girl does not offer much more refinement than perfumes generally available at supermarkets.
In comparison to the only definite DdG perfume I know, Concrete, which I love, there is a really slight similarity between the two, which, I think, must be the modest synthetic woody notes. While Concrete is zesty, fresh, fruity (apricots?), Girl is cloyingly synthetic sweet.
(Note that the French fashion company’s fragrances are made in collaboration with many different perfumers. I actually couldn’t google who the nose behind Concrete was. Anyone knows? Give me a PM.)

Ive been racking my brain tying to work out what i own that this smells like…… and its Envol de Cartier! Phew! Finally worked it out. Very similar i think although girl is less sweet and a bit more powdery. Im sure i can smell white musk….
    I just got it.
    Full wearing tomorrow.

I also do get Fahrenheit and a mixture of reduced sugar Angel. Quite nice tho, in my opinion. A bit too heavy for me to wear during summer. Absolutely a nice welcome to my collection.

    Transvestite Fahrenheit.
Makes me think of Frank N. Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Fahrenheit wearing garter belts and lipstick.
Can’t stop laughing after spraying it for the first time today. ROFL!
    Very cool.
Changes from masculine to feminine to masculine to feminine all the time.
Was a blind buy for me and I don’t regret it.
    The bottle is fantastic.

What a gem I have found in the rough… The opening was quite reminiscent of For Him by Narcisso Rodriguez, but then it slowly turned into this more pleasurable Fahrenheit.
This fragrance will be something to reckon with once all the stocks dry up and the prices skyrocket. Like someone already mentioned, you won’t like it because it is not meant for you.

What a two-faced frag! It started harsh and very dry – lot of dry wood, dusty vetievr and harsh pepper. Definitely masculine, I thought! Aften an hour warmed by the spring Sun, violet and iris came. Gentle and bright, slightly sweet and cosmetic powdery. Definitely feminine! I love the base – very mild and at the sime time fresh cedar and veriter which turns from stucking in the lungs dustiness from the opening into gentle and sweet lemon.

This is the only “celeb” scent that I own (by way of an awesome Fragrantican who gifted it to me), and I actually quite like it. The perfume is a woody, violet extravaganza with a hint of sweetness. I don’t really understand all of the hate for it–I think it’s fun, casual, and interesting. The bottle is unique, and while def not my fav, as a lover of graffiti art, I can appreciate it. The presentation was also quite lovely. I can, like others have mentioned, imagine wearing it with a white tee and jeans, or even a flirty little dress. I find it versatile and relaxed.

  20. :

G I R L is aptly named because it’s quite feminine, in my opinion! Maybe tomboyish but not masculine at all. There is a sweet powderiness to it from the musk and lavender that I can’t imagine on a man. It is a quirky scent, for sure.
One of the few fragrances with noticeable vetiver that I actually enjoy–my other vetiver-heavy favorite being Angel Muse. Vetiver can come across as very masculine and mature and unwearable for me but this is a lovely representation of it. Fresh and peppery florals and woods add depth and make this an instant favorite of mine.
This is a good low maintenance casual jeans and t-shirt kind of fragrance, reminiscent of CK Obsessed in its vibe. It’s also super strong and has crazy longevity, I can smell it on myself the next morning.

What a great surprise this little woody maniac is.
I must admit, this smells a lot better than I could ever hope.
It’s so woody and creamy. Very uplifting and well balanced.
The vetiver, soapy lavender, cedar and milky sandalwood with a touch of powdery iris and a hint of white pepper is what I get from this one. I wish I could smell the violet here but I cannot.
I find it pleasing and long-lasting. Sillage is moderate (soft toward the end). However, I prefer it more on my husband than on me. It’s a bit sweeter on his skin. Very sexy. 🙂

The design house Comme des Garçons occupies a specific perch in the fashion world. It is known for being off-beat, progressive, trend-setting. Search for “Comme des Garçons” and “avant-garde”— it’ll take days to dig through all the results. The brand has a strong interest in maintaining an unconventional appearance. CdG’s perfumes convey the bona fides of their non-conformity by emphasizing three qualities: iconoclasm (‘anti-perfumes’ such as Odeur 53 and Odeur 71), thingness (recontextualized scents like Dry Clean, Sticky Cake and Concrete) and a signature style of synth-woodiness. The first two speak to the reputation CdG want to preserve, the third identifies the brand and ties it to that reputation. The question is to what extent the brand has the brand reduced avantgardism to a set of signifiers in an attempt to market their artistry?
After the Series collections of 2000-2008 the brand focussed on marketing creative collaboration. Collaborations with Stephen Jones, Monocle, Daphne Guinness, Hussein Chalayan and Gosha Rubchinskiy widen CdG’s style profile and replenish the brand’s street cred. In 2014 CdG joined forces with Pharrell Williams on the perfume Girl. It was a significant ramp-up from figures known strictly to close followers of the fashion industry to the most prominent superstar of the day. CdG phrased Girl as a collaborative project, but let’s call it what it is. Girl is a celebrity perfume.
So what did each of the collaborators stand to gain?
For Pharrell, it’s easy. Affiliation with avant-garde (‘serious’) art gives a high-brow to his pop career. Pharrell has a track record of pop-up style art and design projects and for him, creating a perfume with a groovy fashion brand was no different. It supported the narrative that he is ‘about’ creative idiosyncrasy and avant-garde style. Accumulated incidences of cool give him legitimacy and balance out large scale public projects (think The Voice) with smaller artsy ones. The free advertising that the perfume provided for his album Girl didn’t hurt. If I sound cynical, I’m not. The integration of Pharrell Williams’s musical work and his interest in design and fashion is smart and intriguing. It breaks down the boundaries between marketing and the work being marketed.
CdG’s gains were different. Pharrell didn’t win a new demographic, nor did he need to. CdG on the other hand did gain exposure to a wider market. By making a celebrity fragrance but couching it as an artistic collaboration, CdG sought to immunize themselves against accusations of ordinariness. It gave them a new foothold on the shelves of Sephora without sacrificing the high ground. It was an opportunity to sell out without selling out.
Girls has been promoted as a mainstream version of CdG’s style of spare woods but in truth, the perfume’s sweet synthy woods put it more in line with young men’s club fragrances like Paco Rabanne 1 Million, Victor and Rolf Spicebomb and Tom Ford Noir Extreme. They all share a similar design concept. Tenacious woods, syrupy/powdery sweetness, spice notes and aromatics all shout for your attention. A lavender/violet topnote gives Girl a passing similarity to an aromatic fougère, but the demanding sweet-woody accord drills to the surface quickly and smothers the lavender in syrup. The perfume vibrates on a frequency that that suggests lopsided doses of industrial strength woody aromachemicals and the topnotes in particular are piercing.
As with all of CdG’s joint perfume projects, there is an assumption that the perfume will be a reflection of the artistic collaboration that went into the project. But what if it’s not? In this case the perfume and the story have next to nothing in common. If Girl had shown evidence of the high minded artistic collaboration that CdG and Pharrell would have us believe I might feel less like I’ve been sold a bill of goods. Unfortunately Girl has the expediency of a convenient hook-up and makes Pharrell and Comme des Carçons seem more like friends with benefits rather than serious collaborators.

One of the first perfumes that I can’t pinpoint the smell of!
It’s honestly a weird type of perfume to me:/
I’m always honest with my reviews. This smells pungent, I hated it & actually did regret buying it.
I thought I’d get my younger brother to try it, since I don’t think it suited me, I don’t think this would suit a female. To my surprise he hated it & squinted his face the moment I spritz it on his wrist. That second he got up just to wash it off LOL!
Sorry to anyone who likes/loves this perfume.

Im a comme des garçons cents lover. To add to my collection i blind bough it. It’s very flowery, reminds me of any elisabeth arden perfume. It’s not bad, but it has nothing to do with comme des garconses perfumes. Seriously, nothing. If you wanna blind buy it for the CdG reason, don’t. you are waisting time. If you look for other brands CdG like, check Montale Greyland and Montale Full incense. You ll love it

Girl perfume is a powdery lavender on me.
With a bit of sweet violet coming through. I like this.
Very nice and lasts all day. I find it more femme than
masculine. I am not wild about the packaging. I like the scent. Smells very expensive.

Comme des Garçons’ Pharrell Williams GIRL is a bit weird. I found it super cheap on clearence in the 10ml size at Ross. I find that it’s a lighter scent but it is definitely 80’s. I am pretty sure Pharrell’s use of Fahrenheit was influential in GIRL except that it is a more feminine fragrance than Fahrenheit is typically. I’m not saying that is a bad thing at all.
Like Fahrenheit, I find petrol heavy violet in GIRL. However, I find that the petrol is softer. I find the iris softens it with a slight cosmetic bag feel. GIRL opens with some lavender and a good amount of pepper before going into the petrol/cosmetic bag mid. The base is slighter with some vetiver and cedar, I don’t smell other notes honestly.
GIRL’s performance is good but can be better. i find the projection is soft to moderate with no clear winner. i get wiffs through the mid for about 4 hours and it is a skin scent for two more hours. GIRL is mostly a fall and spring night time scent for me. For day use it is possible but not for me. I find GIRL works for dates, casual and upscale settings.
GIRL I find is pretty nice but I’m unsure if I’ll rebuy because it is limited to night use and I got enough night options personally. That said, I rate GIRL 7.0 out of 10 for a nice smelling scent but with some performance issues on my skin.

I bought this because I had been wanting a frag by CdG and I was so stoked when I found it at Ross for the cash I had in my pocket. I find myself reaching for this about once a month when I need something “modern” and “different” that is also fresh and light. It’s a perfect denim+white tee frag. As in, it’s a basic that reads as effortless chic while being a 21st century CKOne.

  28. :

    5 out of 5

Girl is amazing. I don’t get the name or the marketing, but I also don’t mind, who cares, it just adds to the uniqueness of this whole creation. It is of exquisite quality.
For me, it is mostly sandalwood, with its milky facets, and cedar, slightly bitter but gentle, not the scratchy, hard cedarwood that makes Bois Rouge or Japon Noir so badass, here it is behaving. The opening gives us some violet which contributes to the Fahrenheit-like petrol-ish note. Then vetiver is getting emphasis in the drydown, reminding me to Encre Noir. Great composition. Not too strong, medium longevity.
However, what nobody writes about is the presentation, the excellent, gorgeous, careful packaging. The box is huge, and the bottle and its whole presentation is so unexpected. A tasteful note tells us that the bottle has been painted by a new, experimental method. Interesting and unique, and the price can’t be beaten either! This is excellent quality for celeb frag price.

I was intrigued to wear this as I like Pharrell and was interested to sniff a perfume he was behind. Being a bit short on cash was pleased to find small bottles of it in my local pound shop. I hadn’t read any reviews to sprayed away! It is strong, but that is good news for me. It is quite strong on the violet, which is a favourite with me. I can’t speak for any men but I think they would like it,it is quite woody. So far am pleased with my purchase and might go in search of more. But why call it Girl?

  30. :

    5 out of 5

Oh, GIRL, you are a precious thing. Very misunderstood by a lot of people. I find your design very edgy, and the graphic touches are what makes your body unique. Violets, with smoke and powder. That’s what I get when the fragrance is on me, and it is incredibly soft, despite what the other reviews say. Find it more feminine than masc, but both can definitely wear it, and both can definitely make it work.

  31. :

This is absolutely perfect scent for man or woman who’d like to make statement that they are EXCENTRIC and slaves to abstract ART. My immediate visual imagery pulled Kazimir Malevitch “Black Square” – iconic to seeking minds and general-public-opinion’s disaster. IT is unbelievable in its longevity; and I think, in general, it’s just accidental struck from other dimension that happened to come through Pharrell. Commes des Garçons, from other side – are so expected to be found behind thing like this! – ha-ha just twist their name gender-wise and here you go!
This Violet note always stands out – Fahrenheit, eau de Gaga, Jil Sander Man, BH Metal Jeans (I believe), e.g. etc.
..but ‘Oh boy’ (or shall I say here – ‘Oh girl’!) Violet here is abducted into some futuristic alliance.. All ingredients named – are quite familiar.. how come this perfume twisting my olfactory brains!? There must be something else there, or maybe they irradiate it by laser beam while mixing..
I promise you – U WON’T LIKE IT – cause IT’S made NOT 4 LIKING!! IT’s for making the person who wears it to fall out of ordinary, to generate disturbance and to challenge feelings and mind – as if some ultra-violet alien hides behind their human form. Don’t be scared now to try though- it’s perfume by all definitions and there’s nothing unpleasant here.
Brilliant (well, quasi-brilliant) perfume. Any age any gender can pull it and be challenged by it.
As much as I like to pull “macho” majority of the time – I have days when I want to listen only to David Bowie and wear silver plastic shoes on bear feet and not to comb my hair, and put all my jewelry at once and go to wine tasting with friends.. is it ‘girl’ in me? cause on those days this perfume is the “bulz-eye”.

I love Pharrell Williams, but Girl was not for me. It smelled like a combination of Dior’s Fahrenheit from back in the day, with DSquared2 She Wood, sprinkled with violets, grounded in wet concrete.
    Fun bottle, quirky scent.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

I knew this would not be a run of the mill celeb fragrance. I personally love the design and the bottle. The fragrance smells of powdery wet concrete…in a good way. Soft and creamy with a sharpness of pepper. Its art. So not surprisingly it won’t be to everyones taste.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

I like the opening – it is fresh combination of not too dry lavender, pepper and neroli, not too sharp, a bit aromatic and a bit spicy, just uplfting, and not bracing. Nice.
Central part I liked the most, there is something very intriguing in quite known floral accord of violettes and iris (airy, slightly powdery, sweeter and quite softer than opening) contrasting sharper, earthier, serous styrax.
For a moment I was trully hooked on Girl’s heart: flowery but not really sweet, earthy and translucent, but also sharp and kinda serious.
    Overall – interesting central part.
Somehow, styrax works as “introduction” to the woody base, and is very nicely blended with patchouli showing up.
    And then….well. :-/
I guess that unsuccesfull compromise between niche and celebrity scent took place in the base.
It is the one where patchouli trys too hard to act as woods and, instead of being “team player” with other woody notest (clean grassy vetiver is nice and clearly there), it plays dirty and overwhelms and suffocates.
We have all sensed this kind of base, “somewhere around”, at least once: It is actually woody, and while I must admit it remains not sweet and to the point interesting – honestly – first and every other association will always be: patchouli, the dirty kind…
    * Silage: moderate +
    * longevity: moderate + (up to 7 hours)
    • discontinued, but still available. Eventually, Girl will become overpriced the minute she becomes unavaillable.
So, try it, and if you like it – be smart and get it on time.

I don’t know what it is about this fragrance but I find it very compelling. It’s equal parts woody, floral, and fruity to me – even though fruit isn’t really included in the notes. It’s a sweet and almost melon note, but there is plenty of cedar and vetiver alongside some powdery violet and iris. I’d almost…almost say it’s a bit like classic Mr Bubble in adult cologne form, with wood.
I’m kind of surprised it wasn’t a success, I was able to get a full-size retail bottle at FragranceNet for under $20. I like Kaws, CdG, and Pharrell so perhaps my opinion is biased but it’s a cool bottle, cool concept, and a unique fragrance. Definitely has a place in my collection at that price!

If you’ve been looking for something that smells Biolage, look no further. Smells just like it to me. IF you too are disappointed that Sephora no longer carries this, there is an EXACT dupe by Nabeel, called Arbab. It’s a middle eastern perfume oil you can buy on Amazon for $3.05. You literally can’t beat that with a stick. Like I said, this is how is smells to me, but to each their own! I loved it.

It was certainly too strong for me, definately unisex, but too much for me when I wore it. I gave it to my son and he wears it often, and on him I love it. He also wears Tom Ford perfumes, and I would put this in the same bracket…it has that same vibe to my nose.

  42. :

Certainly unisex, certainly very nichey for the money, certainly unusual, and certainly great value. Full of notes I normally love and produced by someone I admire (in almost every sense). I wanted to love it; but somehow I don’t.
Initially it comes over fresh and light, if a little synthetic-seeming – floral muskiness of some sort, a bit like a cheaper version of a Narciso Rodriguez (or something?). On me a it seemed a bit weak and generic-EdT-ish at first but there was definitely something darker and clingier lurking underneath. Oh god, is it vetiver? I fear it is. Or maybe a particularly dirty sort of patchouli. As it dries down this inky/sweaty/dusty note just gets drier and sharper and stronger and more obnoxious (just to me)- reaching an almost reeky-bitter level right at the end. No, don’t like, sorry.

I’m surprised that this doesn’t get more love. Maybe that’s because of the connection to CDG and their (aside of Grace and Daphne) uniqueness and out of this world sillage. This is more quiet in comparison but nonetheless a well crafted woody fragrance with only a pinch of florals (violet mainly, the iris adds a dry aspect later on) woven in. If you like fragrances like Molecule, Light Blue, Dune, Fahrenheit or even Wonderwood this one could appeal to you as well. Longevity is very good with moderate sillage, which is a good thing to me because it’s more universal that way.
Personally I like the bottle, it’s different and mixes things up. I recommend reading about the background of the design & naming. Pharrell is an artist and very creative person so it’s no surprise that he applied that to his venture in the fragrance world. I tend to keep bottles because they’re art as well (mostly) and this one would look very nice in a bookshelf, IMHO.
Price has dropped enormously so snatch it up while it’s still available.

I snapped up a bottle from Chemist Warehouse for $14.99 too. It is definately well made. It’s masculine and feminine at the same time. I am getting more of the feminine notes at the moment…but when I got into my very warm car the woody notes bloomed. I think this one is going to smell incredible during our stinking (and beautiful) Summer. Bring it on.

I’ve been hearing about this on a Facebook perfume group I’m in. It’s only $15 at Chemist Warehouse, here in Australia. So, today I decided to dive in.
I did smell this a while back but it didn’t impress me that much – probably because it was full price!
Today, I’m wearing it and I’m getting flashbacks to Karleidescope, but without the insect spray note.
Someone mentioned JLo Glowing. Yes, that too but without the dirty panty note.
So, overall it’s a lot like a couple of perfumes I would have liked, minus the certain unpleasant notes that ruined them for me.
I’d say that’s a successful blind-ish buy (especially for the price).

So I have had this several days and applied it many times. I was really excited by the notes, violet, vetiver and patchouli being among my favourites. I really think this tends towards the masculine rather than the feminine and if were marketed as such would be more popular. The bottle is unusual (read hideous) and does not add to the product: I kinda want to cover it in black gaffer tape or something. I actually was hoping for stronger violet (I verry much love Grey Flannel) but to me this is subdued. There is an underlying sweetness, which reminds me of Oak by Bath and Body Works. The woods and spices balance the sweetness and make this an interesting, but not unnerving fragrance.

This is currently on sale in Australia for $14.99 Aus for the 100ml size. This equates to approximately $11 US or about £8.50, which is amazingly cheap.

    this actually stings my nostrils.
i love violets. i love plastic violets, as in Insolence. but not these ones.
opens with violets, as some lotiony fruity yoghurt thang. bit of green. green apple fruits. perhaps some pepper. but mostly, a vile nose stinging “woodsy fruity” aroma chemical that overwhelms the whole thing, gradually turning more and more “sharp sweet plastic woodsy” and lasts forever. this dreadful cheap woods chemical is in the new rendition of dirty english and possibly a lot of other budget man scents, underarm deodorants and the likes. i can “feel” it in my nose more than smell it.
on the plus side, i do love the tacky bottle. and it matches the scent i guess.
and if you do enjoy this fragrance, one spray will do, so your bouteille will last you a while.
for the record this smells nothing like the aforementioned:
infusion d’iris, Dior Homme, Mon Jasmin Noir, Farenheight etc.

I expected a bit of oddity as Girl is a CdG product, and I got it. There is almost rotten fruit note at first, with a bit of green (artemisia? mint?) then it morphs into a violet/black pepper blast, and I do mean blast. The violet is of thermonuclear strength. Within an hour, however, I got green woody with a touch of floral aka Dior Fahrenheit. The dry down is quite lovely but the initial hour after application was unpleasant. This is a perfume I admire as an art project rather than one I would wear.

Nice watery cool violet and greens opening that turns very woody and then patchouli and pepper or slightly spicy end. Very i
