Finally got ahold of a bottle after looking for years – yay! This perfume takes some time to settle quite right en is overwhemingly floral in the proces. The first 10/ 15 mins i only get old lady flowers (ylang ylang, geranium) but then the ginger (a a tad of jasmide) kicks in, making it feel much younger. Stays on very long en gets better during the day.

I wanted to like this! And I probably would have if it was more spicy as I was anticipating, instead of older-lady perfume smell. I even tried the lotion, but no luck.
Note, I really really dislike mimosa and jasmine. They just tend to add too much of a soapy feel to things -especially when mixed with ginger- and in this mix it turns into those dishes of soap older ladies have in their bathrooms.
I feel like this would be much improved with the addition of cloves! 🙂

I have loved this since the days of Cosmetics To Go … I have a very old bottle of the CTG original which I save for special occasions only.
I still hanker for long-lost CTG delights – the Smaragadine bath foam (Tramp was a watery imitation and such a disappointment), Violet Nights bath foam that scented the entire house, and the ORIGINAL Prince of Neroli range, which Lush turned into something most peculiar.

This perfume took awhile to grow on me. It’s a strong and somewhat musty floral, and doesn’t really smell like ginger at all. That said, I like it for days when I need a sophisticated floral perfume, but I can’t wear it every day.

I purchased this as a blind buy because I adore any and all things ginger. However, when I opened the package, I was terribly disappointed. It’s a very heavy scent, cloying and far too floral. All I get is ylang ylang, which I appreciate in moderation, but here, combined with the earthiness of ginger and the heady aroma of rose, it’s too much. It’s really very old ladyish to me. I agree with another reviewer that says it reminds them of the seventies. For me, it reminds me of the drugstore perfume of the seventies, not the sexy seventies. I’ve tried it a few times now, wanting so very much to like it, but it’s simply not for me.

In the summer of 2010, i bought this blindly from Lush’s website (before these scents were released in store, and sadly then disappeared again) and i’m so glad i did! I sprayed it as soon as i got it out of the box and i was delighted – it shared it scent with Lush’s now discontinued ‘Sex in the Shower’ Emotibomb! (they were like a bath bomb but for the shower)
I’ve since bought two more bottles. I love the floral, powdery, warmth it has on my skin.

Lush Ginger is one of those fragrances that start off as a dislike and then gradually develop into a like as the fragrance begins to settle.
Try not to write this fragrance off straight away. Lush Ginger opens with a somewhat powerful and acrid ginger accord, not unlike fizzy ginger beer, however a few minutes is all it takes to see some improvement.
The ginger accord is a dominant fixture throughout this fragrance’s composition, however a heart of rose, jasmine, mimosa and geranium smooths everything out and creates a more pleasant aroma.
Half an hour after the first application and that strange opening is forgotten. Lush Ginger despite its floral heart, has the tendency to smell quite masculine and fierce. In that regard I would recommend this fragrance as unisex.
It’s a bad-ass scent, roughed up and a tad naughty. I like wearing Lush Ginger every now and then, although I must admit that I do have to be in the mood for it. I also advise a light application. Too much of Lush Ginger could make for a rather unpleasant experience.

I’m a guy and I love Ginger. I’m not only a fan of ginger as a food but also the smell is addicting.
Smells like ginger combined with flowers, I have both the solid stick and the bottle version and they are slightly different, but hard to explain.
To me this is totally a summer perfume, when it’s hot outside, you just want to rip off your clothes, due to the heat the streets look wet, kind of like a fata morgana.

At first it is sharp and slightly pungent, …. lots of ginger! Short after a more rosymimosaflowerish scent with only hint of ginger in the background, is appearing… nothing unique or extraordinary, yet feminine, fresh and pleasant. Nothing I personally would buy again, but I will enjoy it while it lasts :))
Edit: O my God… this is heaven!!! I had it on for a while now and I can´t stop sniffing my arm… it´s an must have, for shore! :)) Feminine, clean, crisp and spicy in a ginger spirit way…. wow!! One of my favorite from Lush along with Karma, Love, 25:43 and Orange blossom… by the way… I love most everything from Lush :))
Edit: Herre min Gud!!!

Unconventional and distinct, this cold, almost unisex perfume is definitely my cup of tea. It resembles the mood of a rainy, moody November day, somewhat monotonous, yet so very enjoyable

LOVE LOVE LOVE this scent. It’s indescribable. Complex, it doesn’t smell like ginger. It took a while for me to warm up to it, but once I did, it’s like the clouds parted and the sun was shining! I’m glad others aren’t liking this because I’d like to know that not many people have it 😛

This is a really disappointing perfume from Lush. I find their scents interesting most of the time, but this was a real miss.
Ginger reminds me of my aunt’s old basement; a musty mix of wet dog and stale cigarettes.
    Very strange. Very gross.

I’m Lush fan and always blind buy coz there’s no Lush store in Thailand & I never disappointed. But when I order Lush-Ginger solid with hope that it will warm & a bit spice like real ginger, i felt that i was suddenly sick upon i open the lid! BTW, i still tried it on my skin with my last hope that Lush will never broke me…but i feel gonna die and run to rinse it off but it still linger last long on my skin. I gave it to my mum tomorrow then and I never see my mom use it!
This is not ginger scent coz i love ginger drink & love Ginger lotion from Body Shop but I can’t bear this scent even a second!! For me, this is smell like Chinese pickalilli.

Very surprised there is no citrus listed in the notes! To me the opening is very citrussy/lemony with a hint of rose. It then mellows into a vintage soap fragrance. Nice, but I detect no ginger.

I love this perfume. Its so feminine.
when worn for a few hours. It does smell alot like Paris by Yves Saint Laurent. I dont like Paris but I like Ginger…. Strange 🙂

Let me begin my saying that i soaked in a Gingerman-scented ballistic bubblebath the morning of my wedding, and while we were travelling i had tucked the Gingerman ballistics inside my wedding dress. so, yes, this is what i wore for my (Vegas) wedding. it’s a soft, powdery floral and i agree it smells quite retro, but in the best possible way. i have this scent in many forms, and i love them all. the nearest thing i can think of on the market that smells similar would be Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products in the Rose Geranium scent. not exact, by any means, but similar and equally gorgeous.

I loved Ginger in the far off days of Cosmetics To Go… (so many lost fragrances when they folded) … BUT it doesnt sit right on my skin, it changes. It fills the house with the most alluring scent. Delicious squared! But I can only wear it on my hair or clothes. The Ginger bath bombs were perfect – the scent of them stayed true on me… I used to stew in them before going to parties.

One spritz lasts for hours. (I also use it as a room freshener!!)

The perfect retro scent to wear with your 40s matte red lipstick and pincurls, this is a really strong pure floral where geranium is king. Surprisingly fresh for summer if worn in small doses. Contrary to the description above, the Ginger in the title doesn’t refer to root ginger but Ginger Rogers, who was the inspiration for this perfume. Much better than its matching limited editions GingerKat bubble bars and Badass Ginger shower gel, I tried adding a few drops to unscented body lotion and came up with a very sensual floral.
