Opens up with a fruity sweet rose combined with lime and sage. What I find interesting is that I can pick up a nice pink savory rose which seems pretty natural to me; and combined with the lime and sage, it has an intriguing opening. I don’t know where is the leather, because I can’t smell any, but there is a nice creamy element in the background. Next to the rose bouquet there are bitter and green herbs and woods which seems to amplify with time. For the dry down, I get a dance between aromatic woods and something creamy.

I don’t get any leather in Memo’s French Leather. It’s mostly a tea rose and lime scent (I actually guessed bergamot). The citrus is not sharp, and is actually quite enjoyable. With the rose, it’s a simple pairing that reminds me of the smell and taste of white wine – especially drinking cheap pink moscato with my college roommate. In the middle, a slight scent like fresh thyme develops (doesn’t smell like sage to me), and later a dry woodiness that smells more like ISO-e super than vetiver or oak. Overall, I was disappointed in the lack of leather, and the remaining scent is pleasant but somewhat uninspired. Ok. Good longevity and projection.

I am a woman. At first sniff, I preferred French Leather. But wait…there is a synthetic thing coming up and then it becomes just like any other fragrance. Irish Leather on the other hand, stood its ground and was lovely many hours after. I would take Irish Leather than this even if I liked French leather at the first sniff.

This could be the first fragrance with ‘leather’ in the title that I actually like. Going off previous reviews it seems that Leather isn’t the prominent note here which is probably why I like it as I often dislike fragrances that feature Leather, will buy it later today, definitely unisex in my opinion, no issue wearing it and also wouldn’t mind smelling it on a woman in the right situation.
I also feel like this is a fragrance I wouldn’t want to project too much so I’d go with a couple of light sprays, to me it just seems more effective if someone is in close vicinity and catches the aroma as opposed to announcing here I am to the whole room. The longer it sits on my skin, the more intrigued I am

I honestly cannot understand what is the concept behind this Memo creation. The description also does not help and is incoherent: if you look at the site, you see that the perfume starts talking about a casual French elegance but that is lost in a stuffed and exaggerated description. The aroma itself is also confusing: are we talking about a leather with roses or a rose with leather?
This question seems to indicate one more misleading name in my opinion. French Leather surfs in the return of leather perfumes to vogue but in the execution it is more of a French Rose. It is similar to that found in Louis Vouitton’s Rose des Ventes, something slightly green, fruity and silky, but less interesting. The leather is very shy, very close to the suede indeed, and there is some musk or material in French Leather that gives it a scent of modeling hair paste and gives it a cheap and artificial air.
Overall, I find the perfume disappointing. The concept gets lost amid the execution that is not interesting enough to justify the price range. The aroma itself is not unique and there are others similar and the functional side of the composition leaves much to be desired at this price level. It’s one that for me is not worth it.

This is a very unique fragrance, but love/hate. I was at an incredible store in Portland Or recently and after smelling probably 100 different fragrances ended up with this half by accident. It is an incredibly well made fragrance and compared to many others, I think it’s beauty is in it’s simplicity of only 4 or 5 key ingredients. Even though when I smell the nozzle I like the smell, it just doesn’t sit well on my skin…
That particular store has a very strict no return or exchange policy unfortunately, so if anybody is interested I have a full barely used 50 Ml bottle for sale for $200, or possibly for a trade. If anyone is interested message me…

I sampled this about a year ago and at the time I wasn’t feeling it. Today I’m feeling adventurous and decided to give this another try. Good thing I never discarded the luckyscent sample because [guys:] this is actually an amazing fragrance on my skin. The opening is awesome, with the Rose and Suede and Lime. My nose isn’t picking up much Juniper on me but this composition is strong [VERY STRONG] on me. I am literally wearing 6 sprays of Pure Havane and only two dabs of French Leather on the back of my hand – it has completely taken over my Pure Havane.
End of the DAY UPDATE: ITS still going strong on me after 9 hours. KEEP IN MIND, it’s just a couple of dabs on my hand. This fragrance is BEASTLY awesome. It almost started to give me a headache but I think that’s because I kept bringing my nostrils close to my hand to smell. The beauty of it is in the air – you don’t have to keep coming close to the base. Also FYI, I do prefer this scent on a woman although men can definitely get away with wearing it.

Memo “French leather” – the best ever. This scent is mine from the beginning until the end. I just love all in it – rose, leather, bergamot. It stays super long on my skin and clothes. When I discover “French leather” never separate with this wonderful scent.

A timid and languid rose, a sweet pink pepper…. in the drydown a clean white musk faces. It’s a chic perfume, cute but I do not know if it’s worth the price …. to try again!

I agree with Micavana, I don’t get anything but rose. It is so powerful and nearly noxious. As it is I’m not much of a fan of rose, but I thought that it would be a complimentary note to the leather, not a spotlight hogger. An example of a fragrance that I like that has rose is Moonlight Patchouli by Van Cleef & Arpels. MP is a beauitful Fragrance the has rose as a subtle companion. French Leather is for rose lovers.

I get a bit of a harsh opening, a mix of juniper, citrus, spices and green herb… It’s a little off putting to my nose personally. As it develops it fades quickly after ten minutes, leaving behind a beautiful rose water and soft brown suede leather..
There it remains until the dry down, with the musk coming in at the end of the life.
Aside from the opening which I don’t like, the mid and dry down is very nice.. but lacking a little excitement for the price, it doesn’t wow me. But I do like it.
Performance is average, I wouldn’t pay full price for it personally – people complain about the bottles.. I actually like them, I like a little art work instead of just a simple label. People call it cheap looking, but it’s actually a metal plate, it’s not a sticker…
That being said, I’ve tried the entire line, except the new Russian Leather.. and there’s nothing I’d buy myself.

So far I have tried 4 of the Memo Leather scents. While the other 3 are not bad, this one is a BIG NO to me. What I am about to say is out of character for me, but candidly, I flat out HATE this stuff and cannot wait to scrub it off of me! In all of my reviews so far, this is only my second one that I feel this strongly on the negative side.
This scent is rose, rose, rose with a side of rose and a glass of rose water. To my nose, there nothing but rose in this. As a guy that does not care for rose, this is NOT for me, in any shape or form. My dearly departed grandmother would have loved this one, me, not so much
The other Memo scents I have reviewed I comment that they are not bad scents, but not worth the price. In this scent, it would not matter if it was free, or if I was paid to wear it, this one is a BIG pass for me.
There is no way this can, even remotely, be considered unisex. I smell like an old woman, so I am off to the shower now.

You sitting in cosy parisian cafe, there is boquet of roses on a table, you in love and you waiting for your lover, you opening your leather purse grabbing red lipstick. This is Memo French Leather! 😉

Italian Leather has strong leather, sage , musk, sandalwood and green leaf notes. It reminds me of All Spice but without the green leaf. It is unisex, but I think it is for males only.

I don’t like any of the leather fragrances from Memo. The bottles are also cheap and stupid looking. Based on my experience, the African leather is certainly the frontrunner of the fragrances, but there is certainly much better out there. This is not worth the money.

The only MEMO I’ve tried so far is the more-hyped African Leather, a strong, masculine leather that was very good but not great in my opinion. French Leather is certainly a departure, being much more floral and feminine, and overall less of a smack to the face (that leathers often are) and more a gentle wearing.
I get mainly juniper and rose, but also a sweet peachy vibe that (even more than the florals) seems to make this a better fit for a woman than a man. An interesting try, but a bit too feminine for my liking.
Performance is definitely weaker than African Leather, too, only mediocre for an EDP, so a tough sell for the MEMO pricing of $250 for 75ml.

Soft rose and musk overlay the leather. It reminds me very much of Valentino Oud Assoluto, although oud is not mentioned in the notes. I like it, but I’m confused and so I certainly wouldn’t spring for a full bottle – it’s waaay too expensive.

This is a very refined leather scent. An elegant blend of lime and suede with a very watery rose that joins in perfectly. I see it as a feminine scent and perfect for a warmer weather.
    Beautiful projection & sillage.

This is my first time testing anything from this line. At first spray I get tons of lime over leather (not suede), rose, pepper and hint of juniper. The perfume isn’t that complex and doesn’t morph from one thing to another, but half an hour after applying I noticed the the roughness of the notes settle in and blend together nicely giving an overall smoothness to the scent. It lasted on me about 12 hours and the medium silage stayed pretty strong throughout. French Leather is a wonderful leathery fragrance that could be worn by men or women. It’s really nice but not at $252.

A fruity, kind of metallic, transparent rose with woody-leathery facets laying on a super-synth musky base. It smells modernly anonymous, completely inoffensive and as exciting as doing the dishes at night. The overall feel is the same of when you hear a new song by some unknown emerging pop-star on the radio. You have that sense of deja-vu provided by the catchy melody inspired by a plethora of other previous similar songs. The production is overly polished, the singer has an anonymous voice most probably adjusted with some auto-tune kind of plug-in, you don’t change station just because you’re lazy but, ten minutes after you’ve heard the song, you completely forget both about it and about the *artist*.
French Leather is basically the same. A minor release in a overly-crowded market. A filler nobody needed. A release some will like and others won’t. A release nobody will speak about in one year. The equivalent of a minor pop singer.

I was looking for a deep/dark rose scent and was recommended to try this. I wasn’t expecting to like it considering it’s called French Leather and like I said I was looking for something rosy. However I was pleasantly wrong. The first half hour or so, it’s a lovely comfortable scent of suede with a light rosy tint. Over time the suede all but disappears leaving a sweet dark rose behind that stays for an incredibly long time, I clocked over half a day with one spray. I like it because it fulfilled what I wanted- a non powdery deep rose. However if you are intrigued by its name and looking for a suede/leather scent, I won’t recommend this as the suede didn’t linger for more than an hour on me. Good sillage on top of the very good longevity.

I got a sample of this because I love leather. The start was promising with beautiful suede and a little rose in the background. The suede soon fades away completely and a sickly sweet rose rise and stay the course. The rose smells like a candy rose and not very real to me. This perfume is all about the rose and very little about leather. For me this is disappointing.

I mean these are big bottles (probably 200ml) but I was a bit shocked by the price…£335!!!
I previously tried Irish leather and although I found it did deliver a kind of leather note, it was a bit too niche for my liking.
This shares similarities but again is quite different, the smell immediately reminded me of something but I can’t place it just at this minute.
This is a delicate floral scent which is the least ‘leathery of the lot and listing suede on here is probably more accurate as it’s a lighter more powdered effect. The juniper and citrus in the top notes are characteristic it would appear and the pink pepper, rose musk and vetiver are all present as it dries down. This has quality ingredients no doubt but the lasting power and silage are average and even disappointing at this price.
I like the smell don’t get me wrong and Memo perfumes certainly have a signature going on but this one isn’t for me.

quite the best amongst all other leather fragrances from this brand. although i can’t smell the leather in here but the pink pepper and the junipers are making that leather a bit visible! i guess Memo is using Juniper on all the leather line to establish a new idea of leather cause there is nothing called “a leather note” and to be honest leather is about few notes mixed together to form a note called leather. quite impressive actually and cooling as well. only daring ladies uses this juice, and i bet they’re sexy.

It is very similar to Memo Irish Leather but drydown in French Leather is more gentle, feminine.

Oh my goodness… What kind of designers are making such posters? Girls is cropped in and floating in the air and is a dwarf size compared to the lighting pole! Being of the size she is now, the figure must be way further than she is.
I have smelled the previous two leathers, Irish and Italian, both are great, so this one should be no exception. But the poster…. it makes the whole presentation look dilettante.
