Description

Forget-me-nots or “Vergissmeinnicht” in German is a species of flowering plants with delicate and charming little blue flowers with yellow centers. They grow in moist habitats and along wetlands and riverbanks.

According to a medieval legend, a knight and his lady were strolling along the Danube River. He spotted a posy of beautiful blue flowers and bent to pick them up for his lady love. Because of the weight of his armor he fell into the water rapids. Knowing that he was not able to out-swim the currents, he threw the blue flowers to his lady and with a shout of “forget-me-not!”, disappeared into the water. Ever since then, the lady wore the flowers as a badge of unchanging and enduring love for him.

These days, it feels as if relationships are short-lived. We still see glimpses of long-lasting love with deep affection and acceptance, but these seem to be vestiges left from an earlier time. In present times, everything appears to be constantly changing. Feelings can change, technology can turn obsolete, household items may rust, and even canned food will still expire.

Just like the lady who lost her knight, the one thing that remained was the memory of her loved one. Apart from memories, is there anything else that can last forever? Forget Me Not 勿忘我 was launched in 2014.
